We've got a wide range of generations to cover this episode from the Atari 2600 all the way up to the PS5! We start off with some major Switch news with SciresM announcing his retirement from the scene. PS4 gets some major love with the long anticipated release of Vue After Free, allowing consoles up to firmware 13.00 to be quickly and easily jailbroken! If you're wanting to move onto PS5, don't sleep on these PS4 developments... Some of them are actually helping to improve current and future PS5 developments! We also go back to the PS3 as BadWDSD with qCFW has finally released! Well, kinda, tune in for more on that. Oh, and of course for some Xbox 360 developments that flew under the radar.
This week's episode features my weird obsession of messing with Haley in Stardew Valley, the fun of fighting Queens in ARC Raiders, and how A Game About Digging a Hole is a game about digging a hole. Anyway and as always, thank you for watching or listening, I hope you enjoy this here episode, and I hope you have a wonderful wonderful rest of your day. (And if you haven't already, or are a listener and not a watcher, please like, subscribe, hit the bell, and all that jazz; it may not seem like much, but it goes a long way in helping support the show and site in general. I would appreciate it greatly.)
Break free from the PS3. This week, we're back with Carmageddon: Rogue Shift, a new racer roguelike that blends speed and synergies like never before. Through three maps stuffed with challenging races and constant customization, a new contender arrives in the massive field of repeatable, run-based games. Then, a mighty new State of Play from Sony brings tons of surprises, including Metal Gear Solid 4's debut on consoles that aren't the PS3, the return of Dead or Alive, and a remaster trilogy's completion with Legacy of Kain: Defiance. Check out the show on BlueSky @MarkersOnTheMap.
A whopping 8 games make the grade on this edition of Idle Game Chat.Skate Story was the surprise closer of 2025. Bolstered by its Day 1 inclusion on PlayStation Plus Extra, it seemingly came out of nowhere and landed immediate critical acclaim. A rocking soundtrack, a SimCade style skating system and an otherworldly art style brings it to the attention of Evan and Apps.Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has FINALLY been confirmed to be part of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2, but before that Apps took the plunge to re-earn some missing trophies on the PS3. In what was supposed to be the game that ended the saga, it's prison sentence on PS3 has been a source of frustration for many fans so brighter days are ahead, but one more round on the PS3 can't be all bad…can it?The PS3 version of The Last of Us came out in 2013 and has been re-released a further two times. A remaster in 2014 and a remake in 2022 ensure that it is nicely preserved on modern hardware. How well does the original hold up?Adkins comes bearing a Resident Evil trifecta! With Resident Evil Requiem close at hand, Adkins turns back the clock to tackle the remake of Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil HD Remaster (which is based on the 2002 Remake) and Resident Evil 0. From third person survival horror brilliance to fixed cameras and tank controls, how does Adkins cope with this jarring change?Giant Squid arrived with Abzu in 2016 and their latest title, Sword of the Sea came out in 2025. Apps takes a pitstop to fill in a gaming gap and get up to speed with all things Giant Squid by heading onto The Pathless. Taking influence from Breath of the Wild and expanding the players interaction it has the ingredients to be something special.Timestamps00:00:00 Skate Story00:53:28 MGS 4 & The Last of Us on PS302:03:36 Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil & Resident Evil 003:14:26 The Pathless04:00:59 Outro & FGL Update
This week, Kev and Darragh spiral from Olympic hockey into the existential dread of modern streaming. Is Discovery+ secretly amazing? Is Netflix deleting its own shows? And is streaming now just cable… with extra steps? From there, the lads dive into PlayStation's latest State of Play — including the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid 4 re-release, a new Castlevania, and what it means when gaming history finally escapes the PS3 vault. Kev then makes a passionate case for Oblivion Remake, arguing it still feels more “alive” than Skyrim — jank, uncanny NPCs and all. Is this the most satisfying RPG comeback in years? On the movie front: Ready or Not 2 somehow exists (and might actually work) The baffling continuation of The Strangers Sam Raimi's new horror-thriller Send Help delivers gore, chaos and a wildly satisfying ending Predator: Badlands quietly proves Disney understands the Yautja And yes… Sydney Sweeney enters the chat (via The Housemaid) It's a packed episode about legacy media, resurrected franchises, horror sequels nobody asked for, and why Oblivion might still be the gold standard for lived-in game worlds. 『METAL GEAR SOLID_ MASTER COLLECTION Vol.2』発売にともなう配信停止だと思われます。
Sony has accomplished a truly rare feat in this contentious era by providing players with a widely-lauded hour-plus State of Play presentation. At the top of the heap of announcements for many are a duo of God of War-related unveilings -- the long-rumored 2.5D Metroidvania game and an early-in-development ground-up remake of the original PS2 and PS3 trilogy -- with the former project stealth released at the time of its reveal. That's right: You can buy it right now! 29 other games were showcased, revealed, and otherwise shown off during the proceedings as well, like a new Castlevania called Belmont's Curse, a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits called Scars of Kosmora, a AAA John Wick project, stealth title Yakoh: Shinobi Ops, the second volume of Konami's Metal Gear Collection, and much, much more. Plus, fresh looks at Saros, Resident Evil: Requiem, Marathon, Mina the Hollower, Beast of Reincarnation, Marvel Tokon, Control Resonant, Pragmata, 4LOOP, and so on. Other news rounds things out this week -- like steep layoffs at Highguard studio Wildlight and casting details for 2027' Helldivers film -- before we move onto listener inquiries. Who are some of our favorite black characters in gaming history? Why exactly doesn't Colin care about sports games anymore? Should Sony more heavily pursue Astro Bot spinoffs? Sony's State of Play delivered a massive nostalgia punch! Santa Monica Studio confirms the original God of War Greek Trilogy is getting a full remake, while simultaneously shadow-dropping a new 2D prequel, God of War: Sons of Sparta, available right now. We also celebrate the liberation of Metal Gear Solid 4 from the PS3 with the announcement of Master Collection Vol. 2. Warmest of Welcomes everybody This month on the Mooglecast; Zac and Max are joined by the controversial one, big skrilly willy Skrillus to talk about some of the crews backlog plans (Pre State of Play) for the year. Max has had the Splinter Cell PS2 trilogy installed on his PS3 since 2013, will this finally be the year he plays them? Will Skrillus finally earn the last trophy for Blasphemous? Will Zac continue to to chip away at one of trophy huntings most prestigious series completions? During the preshow we catch up on some of the latest platinums earned by the discord community in Platinum shoutouts. Cactuar VS Tonberry returns with a new entry where Skrillus comes out swinging. And as per usual the boys discuss what they've been playing! This is a meaty episode so grab a beer and stick on a podcast game. Next month is the return of Mini Topics Vol 3. But until then, be excellent to eachother. Max

Austin kicks off this episode of Dragon Quest FM by unboxing the Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Collector's Edition live on air, finally cracking open a box that's been taunting him in his office for over a day. We walk through each item—the slime plushie, PS5 physical copy, slime steelbook, and the wonderfully elaborate ship-in-a-bottle display. Austin's dog Olive is terrified of bubble wrap, and we tangent into downloading Final Fantasy XIV on a PS3 in BJ's office because of sketchy rural internet. From there, the conversation shifts into BJ's early impressions of Dragon Quest VII Reimagined on Switch 2, including his frustration with game key cards on unreliable internet (which triggered the tangent), using “easy mode” boosts to XP and vocation points unashamedly, and enjoying Maribel's alternate “day off” outfit unlocked via the demo save transfer. Austin vents about some pacing issues, arguing that some of the remake's “streamlining” still leaves tedious sequences intact.

In the wake the reveal of the PC-only MMORPG Steel Frontiers late last year, the other long-rumored Horizon multiplayer game has finally been announced. It's called Hunters Gathering, it's in development internally at Guerrilla, and it's set to launch on both PS5 and PC at some point in the future. Excited? Well, some of you (and us!) are. But the response at this early hour has been mixed. Is Horizon being overexposed? Where's the third core game? What's with this obsession with multiplayer? From our perspective, it seems like nothing pleases anyone these days. We discuss. Plus: Sony's FY Q3 '25 financials show profit growth and strong console sales, Grand Theft Auto VI's promised November release date seems to be solidifying, The Last of Us on HBO may not go past a third season, rumors say Starfield launches on PlayStation 5 in April, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! What are our favorite gaming-related revelations from the Epstein Files? Is Resident Evil: Requiem being overexposed? Should the industry worry about Google's Genie 3 environmental AI module? Will Colin continue to take unpredictable call-ins on Sacred Streaming? This week's episode features my disappointing journey with Cozy Caravan and, you guessed it, more Arc Raiders. Anyway and as always, thank you for watching or listening, I hope you enjoy this here episode, and I hope you have a wonderful wonderful rest of your day. Tonight's questions:- Why is PS5 selling despite being disappointing?- Will PS6 reinvigorate the brand?- Why do modern consoles lack last-gen features?- Will the PS3 online store survive past 2026?- Could Forza Horizon 6 arrive sooner on PS5?- Will Duskbloods be a sleeper hit?- Will Genie 3 kill game development in the future? Thanks as always to Shawn Daley for our intro and outro music. I appreciate a lot of Final Fantasy VII--the music is great, the story is surprisingly interesting, and I love the way the game transitions from gameplay to cutscene--but I hate playing so much of it. I've never been a turn-based person and the ATB system hasn't done anything to change that, and then there are all the minigames (and boy are there a lot of minigames). Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the game, I just wish I played it when it originally came out instead of now, almost 30 years later. Anyway and as always, thank you for watching or listening, I hope you enjoy this here episode, and I hope you have a wonderful wonderful rest of your day. Episode 408 of PS This Is Awesome! is a wide-ranging conversation that captures both the highs and lows of the current PlayStation landscape. Fred and Jake discuss the sobering news of multiple studio shutdowns, including Sanzaru Games and other Oculus-backed teams, and what it says about the volatility of the industry — even for well-regarded developers tied to beloved PS3-era classics. The conversation continues with Ubisoft's layoffs at Massive Entertainment, raising questions about how major publishers balance big-budget franchises like The Division 3 amid ongoing restructuring. On a brighter note, the guys celebrate Arc Raiders surpassing 12 million copies sold, breaking down why the game has become such a standout multiplayer success within the PlayStation ecosystem. They also look ahead to Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil showcase and what fans can realistically expect from Resident Evil: Requiem as anticipation continues to build. The episode wraps with some fun speculation around a potential Wolfenstein 3 from MachineGames, making this a balanced episode full of reflection, excitement, and classic PS This Is Awesome discussion.Visit www.patreon.com/psthisisawesome to support the show and help us continue producing the content you love! Please, if you enjoyed the content — or even if you didn't quite enjoy this one — come back. After wanting to play it ever since it was first announced, I finally played, beat, and loved Astro Bot; it reminded me of when I used to love PlayStation and those PS2 days that'll always be the best gaming time of my life. But that's not all folks, in addition to Astro Bot, I talk about Stray and CloverPit, beating the former and being done with the latter. Anyway and as always, thank you for watching or listening, I hope you enjoy this here episode, and I hope you have a wonderful wonderful rest of your day. Happy New Year! Well, maybe not so happy for Sony. That's because -- if rumors and percolations are true -- PlayStation 5's ROM keys have been leaked, meaning that the console is likely on the verge of being jailbroken. And for veterans of the PS3 era, you know precisely what that means: Chaos. Well, maybe? Let's discuss this potentially serious development. Also: Ruminations on the passing of legendary games producer Vince Zampella, new inbound DualSense and cover colors, Marathon's exiting art director, Gran Turismo 7 quietly amassing a huge player base, Kojima's plans to cast (and begin shooting) PHYSINT this year, China Hero Project title Convallaria running into serious issues, Wolfenstein 3 whispers, and much more. Then: Listener inquiries! With computing component pricing and rarity skyrocketing, should we expect a much-delayed PlayStation 6 launch? With only a few weeks until launch, is Wildlight's F2P shooter Highguard in serious trouble? Following a second Ghost game, what should Sucker Punch make next? Is Dustin quietly morphing into a furry before our very eyes? This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. In this first Attack the Backlog of the new year (and in its different format), I talk about some of the silly things that annoyed me in Cyberpunk 2077, followed by a discussion of the potential games I hope to play in 2026, including what's first on the docket. We still have two entries in this timeline, but we take a look at the first PS3 one, which is super Epic. I had never played this before and was surprised how awesome and good this game looks in 2026. This was the culmination of the story everyone was waiting for. Come hear what we have to say about God of War 3. Starring Mike Albertin, Joe Butler, Nate, and Sierra.
