Cuarto programa de nuestro especial por el 40 aniversario de The Legend of Zelda, y toca hablar de una de las obras más importantes de la historia del videojuego: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Peter and Eden run through a rapid-fire list of pop culture hot takes covering movies, TV, music, books, and games. The Star Wars watch order debate kicks things off (original trilogy only for Peter, release order for Eden), Eden defends Batman & Robin and F-Boy Island as unironically great, both agree the Beatles are played out, and they end on a shared appreciation for Alpha Centauri as the peak of the Civilization franchise.Show NotesWhat Eden's Been IntoK-pop roundup: LE SSERAFIM's new album, aespa's Lemonade LP, and ITZY's Motto EP (featuring solo tracks from each member)Reading: The web novel Long Awaited Feelings (1,900 pages about a woman who time-travels after her death) and rereading How Do We Relationship? (completed 14-volume yuri romance manga — "the best romance comic I've ever read")Games: Finished PowerWash Simulator (excited for the Star Wars DLC), played Loddlenaut (cute 5-hour pixel-art ocean cleanup game), and the Wuthering Waves x Cyberpunk: Edgerunners crossover eventWhat Peter's Been IntoDiablo 4: Finished the Vessel of Hatred campaign as a Warlock ("killing demons by summoning your own demons is a good time")Reading: 82% through Anji Kills a King by Evan Leikam (BookTuber debut from Tor) — enjoying it but struggling with the prickly protagonistMusic: New Khemmis self-titled album (Denver doom metal), Cult of Luna's new single "In the Shadow of Your Shadow" (album out November), and The Ocean's "Light Pollution" from upcoming Solaris — allaying fears after the post-Holocene lineup changeHot Takes — MoviesStar Wars watch order: Peter says 4, 5, 6 + maybe Rogue One, skip everything else. Eden says release order (4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, Rogue One) to preserve cultural/historical contextEden defends Batman & Robin: "It's the second best Batman movie. George Clooney's a bad Batman, he's got nipples on the Batsuit, he's got the Bat credit card — it's great."Eden declares Saving Private Ryan a bad movie to the horror of everyone at the comic book shopBest Pixar: Eden picks Ratatouille (doesn't like most Pixar). Peter picks The IncrediblesCorrect max runtime: 90 minutes (Eden) vs 120 minutes (Peter) — anything longer needs to earn itSequel that's better: Peter says Captain America: Winter Soldier > First Avenger. Eden says Tokyo Drift is the best Fast & Furious movieCitizen Kane: Eden concedes it's the rare masterpiece that actually earns its reputation — a bunch of first-time filmmakers who didn't know the rulesHot Takes — TVShows that stayed too long: The Simpsons (Peter). Nearly every comedy past season 3 (Eden)Best series finale: M*A*S*H's "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" and Babylon 5 (Eden). Brooklyn 99 (Peter)Worst series finale: Battlestar Galactica (new) — "the most incomprehensible finale you'll ever watch" (Eden). Seinfeld (Peter)Reality TV worth defending: F-Boy Island — 24 guys, half are "nice guys" and half are fuckboys, the women pick, and the fuckboys can steal the $100k at the end. Nice guys get a villa; fuckboys get a literal prison camp on the beachAdult animation vs prestige drama: Eden says Bob's Burgers is the only good adult animation show right now. Prestige TV is in a nadir of expensive Game of Thrones clonesHot Takes — MusicNever need to hear again: The entire Beatles discography (both agree)Best decade by genre: 80s for rock/pop, 90s for alt, aughts for indie, right now for K-pop (Eden). 2010s for metal — the genre found its stride again after a grim 90s (Peter)Bands that should have stopped: Dream Theater after Awake (Eden). Opeth's last 15 years are all misses (Eden). Peter agrees on bothGreatest live album: Rush — Exit...Stage Left (Peter). The Bang on a Can recording of Terry Riley's In C (Eden — "the finest version I've ever seen")Albums > playlists: Both firmly team albums. Eden has a 16-hour "K-pop Brain Rot" playlist for shuffling, but that's the exceptionHot Takes — BooksAudiobooks = reading? Leans yes from both, but acknowledges the research is contradictory (small sample sizes, brain scan studies on both sides)E-readers vs physical: Peter goes digital 9 times out of 10 (lighter, portable, side-lit). Eden does physical for comics, e-books for prose (form factor matters less for text, but hates reading comics on a screen)Hot Takes — GamesFavorite game of all time: Mass Effect 2 (Peter — tighter gameplay than ME1, loyalty missions, assembling the crew). Doom (1993) (Eden — infinitely replayable with new WADs every day, nothing feels as fluid)Best console generation: Xbox 360 / PS3 era (both) — Halo 3 LAN parties, Gears of War couch co-op, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Fallout 3/NV, Viva Piñata, and yes, Sneak KingOpen world vs linear: Both prefer a tight 20-hour experience over a 100-hour open worldFranchise that peaked early: Age of Empires II (Peter — nothing since comes close). And Eden's shitpost answer of the day: Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri is better than every Civilization game that came...

Pedro prend note :) Jeux évoqués : Wave Race 64, Wave Race Blue Storm, Green Dog: The Beached Surfer Dude, Lost in Blue, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, DriveClub, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball Plateformes : Nintendo 64, GameCube, Mega Drive, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, Xbox Intervenants : Mugen, Ace Bunny, Brad, Pedro, HKRMontage et mixage : Ace_BunnyTechnique, diffusion et hébergement : Mugen_Pascal

We know many of you are tired of talking about Bungie, and frankly, we're kind of tired of discussing them, too. Then again, we're captive to the news, so blame Sony for purchasing them. On the back of last week's discussion about the end of Destiny 2 comes word that Bungie is planning major layoffs as it attempts to greenlight a new project to develop alongside the ongoing Marathon. And no, Destiny 3 isn't happening. At least not yet. What's next for this beleaguered team? If we're being totally candid and honest, does a future for Bungie even really exist at all? There's lots of other news this week, too, including rumors surrounding Media Molecule's next game, the peculiar re-reveal of the long-in-development Dragon Quest XII, the confirmation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and its October release, trouble surrounding PlayStation 3 emulation on Linux, The Witcher 3's new expansion coming more than a decade after the last, Persona 4 Remake's surprise South Korean games rating, and much more. Then: Listener inquiries! Are indie games treated more softly than AA/AAA games when it comes to reviews? What could the drastic increase in SteamDeck pricing mean for PlayStation 6? Is former Sony second party partner Quantic Dream doomed? Why would anyone try to talk about Sacred Symbols with Magic: The Gathering nerds? This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. John is closing in on the finale of Valkyrie Profile, while Ryan celebrates completing Saros and shares thoughts on its final stretch. The conversation shifts to community sentiment as Xbox players voice a growing desire for a revival of Banjo Kazooie. The guys break down why the franchise still resonates and whether Microsoft might finally listen. From there, the episode takes a sharp turn into hardware drama. Lenovo has pulled a handheld device that shipped preloaded with Nintendo and Sega games, raising questions about licensing, oversight, and how something like this makes it to market. The Steam Deck also enters the spotlight after a major price hike that has players debating value, timing, and Valve's long‑term strategy. PlayStation rumors heat up as reports suggest the PS6 could support PS3 titles thanks to a new CPU design. John and Ryan explore what this could mean for backward compatibility and how it might reshape Sony's next generation. To wrap up the show, the Inflation Deflation Challenge features a retro review of Woody Woodpecker: Escape from Buzz Buzzard Park on the PS2. The guys are back after a two-month hiatus, jumping straight into a lively session that kicked off with some beer tasting and a critique of increasingly generic AI-generated descriptions. After experimenting with new prompts to inject some humor back into the AI's output, the guys shifted gears to discuss recent gaming developments, including the new direction for Dragon Quest 12 and the expanding cinematic universe connecting Control and Alan Wake. The bulk of the conversation focused on the "hate-playing" phenomenon—the shared habit of sticking with subpar games until the credits roll, from frustrating NES platformers to disappointing PS3-era shooters. Looking ahead, the guys are already prepping for the next episode, where they'll be digging into games they believe only they have played.

Is Gaming Entering Another Console War Era? | The COD Casuals Ep. 275

Welcome to episode #275 of The COD Casuals, where we discuss all things Call of Duty, casual and professional! In this episode, we start off with some news that was delivered during the Major 3 broadcast regarding ranked play, which is that we will be getting a breakdown of how we gain/lose SR in ranked. Many people have wondered how they exactly calculate this per match, and this is a nice step in the right direction. Along with this, we shift towards some news regarding Sony and Xbox, as a potential console war may be upon us. As Sony is pulling back on letting their exclusives go to PC, Xbox lowered the price of game pass and seems to be making steps to regain their spot at the top. We talk about the pros and cons of a console war, and what it will mean for the future of gaming.  This then turns to a conversation about the future of stories in gaming, as we discuss a concerning article regarding stories in movies that we can already see happening in gaming, which is a drop in complexity and quality. Finally, we end with our review of Major 3, as well as the pros of the format used during the weekend. Have you been playing ranked still? Do you think the SR breakdown will be accurate, or will it still have some flaws? What are your thoughts on a potential console war reigniting? Do you remember console wars back during the Xbox 360/PS3 era? Regarding story games, do you avoid any and all gameplay/spoilers, or does it not matter to you? Finally, did you end up watching Major 3? If so, what did you think of the change in format? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! RPCS3 devs are cracking down hard on vibe coding -- the most popular PS3 emulator team just nuked undisclosed AI-generated slop pull requests on GitHub after getting flooded with garbage code that breaks stuff because the submitters don't even understand what they "vibed" out of ChatGPT. Yeah after real human grinders turned the Cell processor nightmare into 70% playable games these AI bros show up expecting merges while the team flat-out warned they'll start banning without disclosure and told everyone to learn how to debug and code instead of peddling junk that doesn't work -- classic open-source reality check hitting the LLM hype train. Sometimes, PlayStation's userbase gets upset over nothing, and this past week was a great example of that. Rumors and uninformed conjecture rapidly circulated about Sony unleashing a stringent DRM regimen on PlayStation that would force players to check-in with the PSN every 30 days, or lose their digital licenses. That (of course) was complete nonsense, obviously so -- Sony is instead attempting to throttle dishonest people from taking advantage of a quirk in their refund system -- but it didn't stop many talking points from taking hold. And really, isn't it Sony's fault, ultimately? All they had to do was communicate, good or bad. But they didn't, and so the ne'er-do-wells filled the vacuum. Then again, maybe players should be a little more mad at the actual villains: The losers and degenerates who take advantage of loopholes, steal games, and pirate anything they can get their hands on. We discuss at length. Plus: MLB: The Show Mobile slowly expands around the world, Rebel Wolves' extremely promising vampire title The Dawn of Bloodwalker gets a release date, classic NickToon Rugrats gets a games compilation, Star Wars comes to PowerWash Simulator 2, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! With Xbox's incessant will they/won't they going on, should we expect Microsoft-published games to continue to come to PS5? Is ARC Raiders and The Finals developer Embark guilty of overtuning their titles? What are the origins of "friendslop"-style games? Is Colin's wife quietly attempting to protect him from complete embarrassment by refusing to allow him to participate in the 100 Chicken Nugget Challenge? This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Read transcriptThey say the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, but in this case, it's paved with quick‑time events and awkward platforming. Step back into 2010, when grim determination, button mashing, and a suspicious amount of artistic license gave us Dante's Inferno on the PS3 and Xbox 360, the game adaptation no one asked for but we secretly loved anyway. Joining Chris this time is Adam Williamson. You know, that guy who's somehow managed to pop up in both past and future episodes of Play Comics. It's like he's got his own metaphysical time loop going, except with fewer torturous souls and more witty banter. So grab your favorite medieval poetry anthology (or just pretend you've read it. No judgment), crank up the over‑the‑top orchestral soundtrack, and prepare to descend through nine circles of beautifully rendered weirdness. Let's find out how a centuries‑old Italian masterpiece got a glow‑up full of demons, guilt, and surprisingly good level design. Learn such things as: How many sins can you commit before hitting a loading screen? What might Dante have thought of boss battles? Was someone just really into God of War? It's the God part wasn't it? And so much more! You can find Adam absolutely nowhere except for on Play Comics where he writes comic reviews and appears on other episodes. The drama around DLSS 5 has overtaken the gaming industry during the last week. Nvidia's image upscaling tech has been present in our space for years, but its newest iteration (set for a proper fall release) has many people scratching their heads. Have we gone from frame generation to art reinterpretation? Why is this technology being deployed so aggressively, anyway? And how come so many companies were so excited about it until they saw the overwhelmingly negative audience response? Let's delve headfirst into the mystery of the Yassified Grace, and all of the fallout therein. Plus: A fresh rumor indicates PlayStation Network branding will disappear later this year, Sony has apparently automatically refunded people for any spending in the now-cancelled Highguard, PSVR2 second party FPS Firewall Ultra has silently been delisted, PlayStation 3 received its random annual firmware update, legendary Tom Clancy developer Red Storm has been gutted, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Have any of us messed around with a PS3 emulator? What's going on with Street Fighter 6's creepy new storyline? With Bravely Default skipping PS4 and PS5, is it safe to assume Square Enix isn't actually done with exclusives? Did two Sacred Symbols fans miss each other by mere seconds in a Dollar Tree parking lot?
