Intro- How do you define “home?” Home felt unreachable to me as a child, because my idea of home was built around a nuclear family dynamic that I didn’t have. After my mom spent a year in the hospital, and ultimately survived Leukemia, I felt like home could always be taken from me. It took years to learn how to find home within myself. How can you find home within, so you can be “at home” with others? Selima Lust interview Clinical Herbalist, medical astrologer, and spiritual teacher My wife Tami and I started our company in 2011 manufacturing body care products. Came out of a need to find solutions to our health concerns that were not being addressed in the medical field. After years of healing physically, I recognized the remaining inflammation was trauma related. You have to heal your emotional wounds to heal your physical pain. So many people are afraid to go into the past and heal what’s hurting them, but it’s so worth it. You can’t even imagine the kind of things that are waiting for you on the other side. You go through so many layers of healing the same trauma. At some point, you develop a process for yourself for triggers or resistance, you’re able to move through it with more ease and grace When you make space for the new, all kinds of things change. The Tower Card has to happen, it is going to happen. AND--it’s only a moment. You will move through to the new. Boundaries How do you walk the line between explaining why your boundaries are what they are, without telling someone how to do their own process? There is a compassionate way to communicate a boundary, and that needs to be at the center of the communication. To the other person, this new boundary is divergent from what’s always been the dynamic. And that takes a practice of compassion. It’s an educator role, and a reinforcement for yourself too. How did you and your wife process your trauma together, and build a business around that, without losing your boundaries or individuality? A natural thing that happens in any relationship, especially the beginning, is you start to dissolve into each other, but you find your way when you realize “oh we’ve melded too much with each other. Let’s find our way back to our individuality within this relationship.” We like the same things. We talk a lot. I had to learn how to move and push through my uncomfortability communicating. We don’t try to soften blows. We listen to each other’s perspectives. You need to communicate because your behavior is changing based on your thinking, and your partner can’t read your mind. Call out and notice changes in body language. So much communication can happen non-verbally, and be used in the moment as opposed to letting a story build up in your head about what the other person was thinking. You can communicate anger or pain, and if you do it with an open heart, it will be received in a way that can be processed.  If you’re working on your stuff, and becoming more and more whole, you’ll be able to find the balance between expressing vulnerability and acknowledging that it’s your work to do and not theirs. At first, we didn’t want kids. But after 6 years together and healing trauma, we opened up so much space and so much love to give, and that’s how we came to be parents. If I keep growing, and keep healing trauma, my son will be ok. Even in utero, practice talking to your kids like they’re 20 or 30. Talk to them like you have the relationship you want to have with them when they’re 20 or 30. Working through your trauma can change your ability to care for others, including children. What is your favorite product to use with clients? Immunity syrup--we have the ability to maintain our health and heal ourselves, away from traditional power structures. Words are like seeds of intention. What seeds would you like to plant with our listeners to grow the queendom? Choose joy! In every decision consider, your choices, your words...what’s in alignment with joy? Even if it's the harder thing, choose joy.   Q&A : What’s your relationship like with water? We are mostly water, it is fundamental to our existence. Who has access to clean water? How do we keep the water we have access to, clean? Use less water at home. Be intentional about noticing the gift of water, everytime you use it. Water takes on sound frequencies, it responds to emotional cues. Water is conscious.  Write me, let me know how it’s going! Intro- Younger Queens I am a grown ass woman, and I still view the world like a child.  I am moved by nature, I can get lost in the clouds, I can cry watching a sunset How do we encourage younger generations of Not-yet-queens or princesses to step into their queendom without waiting for a prince to rescue them. The king to shine with you may show up and be attracted to your light, but may not be ready to reign just yet Women have a less dense nervous system, so we process things faster, we think through things faster. The male nervous system is more dense, so it takes them longer to process and learn, to hear and understand Focus on you, let the lovespace take root, but focus on you Encourage younger queens that they’re doing it right.  Takes time to learn how to ride the flow of life Can’t control life, we can control how we respond to it Be intentional about your responses to life   Dr. Caroline Hartridge   Q&A “What about cannabis for pregnant queens” Take home message: as with all medicine and substances, use at your own discretion during pregnancy. However, big picture there are endocannabinoids in breast milk and the stress hormones a mom can release experiencing anxiety or pain (such as cortisol and epinephrine) can be worse for the fetus than THC. Smoking in general reduces oxygen to the fetus, so keep that in mind. Food is the cornerstone of hormone balance She suffered from endometriosis  In and out of the emergency room in Osteopathic medical school Debilitating pain and poor quality of life Shifted from sustainable farm-raised diet to plant-based diet, symptoms went away in 3 days. Until you get to the root cause of what’s manifesting your “dis-ease”, you’re going to continue to manifest that disease. Metaphysical, mathematical, scientific basis for this Dr. Holland explains the manifestation of disease or dysfunctional tissue through math and through point detractors. As things are manifested from anti-matter into matter (0s into 1s of looking at this mathematically), there are frequencies that are significant enough to detract or shift the mathematical pattern, and there are ones that don’t. An insignificant point detractor won’t affect how you manifest matter. A significant point detractor will. And if you do not clear those significant point detractor will manifest in pain or disease. In the rise of Divine Masculine and Feminine meeting each other, there is more space for energy work to come into conventional medicine. Mind-Body-Spirit paradigm The power of your thoughts are real, they create a neurochemical soup that forms your reality If being told “it’s all in your head” is a gift when it triggers you, because it means there’s something to work through  Get Down With your BadAss Self What wheelbarrow of stories do you carry around that you need to let go? How to use cannabis from the mind-body-spirit paradigm? Full patient history, because it’s case by case recommendation Medical cannabis is helpful because patients can get recommendations for what will serve them best at different points of the day, in addition to what will serve their medical condition best Women have a lot of cannabinoid receptors in our reproductive organs and lymphatic tissue, so specifically for women, medical cannabis can be extremely beneficial Cannabis is one of the tools in the toolkit Entourage effect: most therapeutic benefit from cannabis when consumed as a whole product (THC and CBD). CBD alone does have therapeutic benefits so for certain patients who can not or should not have THC, it will still help CBD is psychoactive. That’s why it helps treat anxiety.  It is not psychomimetic, which THC is, it helps bring you to a different state. Cannabis and Sex Ms. Cory B + Lenore Black Brooklyn based empowered women in the sex industry who are also coaches and performers Cannabis effects men and women differently because of the difference in receptor locations Difference between smoking, vaping, and topical application; cbd only and thc with cbd Women overall found the products more effective Topical CBD/THC does seem to help with erectile dysfunction, because both a vasodilators, they allow more blood flow, more engorgement of sexual organs Can make women secrete more fluid, which will make sex more enjoyable Suggest using topically versus smoking for sex Smoking decreases mucus production Locally receptors are being told don’t make as much lubrication, and the brain does too Smoking with sex is beneficial when you’re doing healing work to rewire the brain from trauma, to reprogram trauma Smoking before doing internal pelvic floor work Can help with deep breathing and being in their body How can you own the story of the trauma and tell it to yourself differently THC/CBD rectal or vaginal suppositories THEY ARE A MIRACLE!!!! Causes increased blood flow and allows the muscles to relax Invite and encourage women to journal more about their cannabis use to see how different strains affect you at different points in your cycle Be your own researcher until official studies are done. Intro When do Queens do the things they do? Lead: by living, by example Listen: more listening; active listening is such a powerful gift! Speak up: when it’s necessary for something to be said with absolute authority and love; Queen of Swords in tarot; when not speaking up creates more suffering or aligns with those who cause suffering, it is a Queen’s direct duty to shout the truth; speak up anywhere you see injustice happening.  Engage: when you have the energy; you can’t engage when you are at a low; when you are grounded and filled up enough to offer something; when through engagement, more love and joy is enjoyed by more people. Separate: when the result isn’t changing, when energy is wanted, when pearls are being cast to swine. Queens honor their power, and when staying in a situation starts costing more than they’re able to regenerate within themselves, they separate. Timing for Queens: do what serves you the most, when it serves you the most.   Sarah Yourgrau Interview We can either make this time an evolution or a destruction  Choose how we embrace uncertainty “Returning the Favor” on Facebook Watch Highlighting community members who are trying to change their world Giving them the resources to shine even brighter People are really good! Finding “good” happening in trenches of suffering Level of compassion that comes from times of trial...these times bring out the humanity in us Sarah’s dad was a documentary filmmaker, and grew up championing the “other’s” story Sociology and Theater major, fascinated by human nature While she started production work in reality tv, Sarah knew she wanted to tell deeper stories With $100 in her bank account, she said “If my heart’s not in it, then that’s not a life. That’s not the life I want to live, and I'd rather grind it out and work odd jobs and babysit and to figure out ways to make certain bills. But I need to start making a declaration of who I am. I have a superpower that is being dimmed, because what I’m really good at is championing people and empowering people.” I only work on projects that are uplifting, and inspiring, and use story for what it can be...to build hope Many years struggling to make ends meet, but feeling so fulfilled Once you put it out to the Universe,It meets you. You have to have the courage to make the declaration. Suddenly started getting called to jobs that mattered to me Even though the media wants you to believe that fear sells, Sarah’s experience is the opposite.  By shouting out that I will only work on what inspires me, I’ve been abundant too In her feminine superpower while being in a 95% male world at work Intentional about hiring women What makes a beautiful, fierce, and empowered leader? Nurturing, which is a skill in which feminine energies excel. Taking care of our co-workers and teammates. A lot of women have had to be very cut-throat and “alpha”- but this fierceness is actually very feminine, and when combined with our natural gift of nurturing and care, it’s incredibly powerful! Vulnerability is power! So is direct communication  I am leading by example, I can be the warmest person in the room AND you can take me the most seriously.  That is the power of feminine leadership My work team is a sisterhood that I build Learn the masculine game so we can get a seat at the table, then we can start to change the rules so that they benefit everyone! Warmth that is respected is a feminine trait and power When there is love and joy in the making of work, it can only affect the final project How does Sarah make her marriage work when she’s travelling all the time Been together 10 years, building brick brick of the castle that we wanted to live in Every single step has included gut-wrenchingly honest conversation, unbelievable respect for the other person, and blind championing of each other When the choice is made early on to build a life intentionally, living in a castle that you both designed, everything is possible. Because we’re both doing work that lights up our souls, we love to champion each other Protective of together time. It is sacred, and there are really fierce boundaries around that. What is your legacy? What’s the point? If my life can empower one other person, that’s the point. I am building an empire of empowered, positive, female drive media. And I champion stories of men who rise to the occasion with love and nurturing and embracing feminnine power. Sarah is building a “For Good” media company  You always have a choice, positive or negative. By choosing positivity, you’re not naive, there are challenges, but you believe in a solution. Creating the series “Now tell me something good,” showing that true resilience is positivity. What seeds do you want to plant with our audience to “Grow the Queendom?” Believe you are worthy of happiness Believe you have power Failure is the best! It’s how we learn There are so many women who will support you and get behind you just for stepping in the ring. Dream so big that you’re uncomfortable, and then implement little baby steps that you can take every day. Give yourself expanders, people who show you it’s possible.  Have blind belief in your self-worth, because your voice is needed! Passion will lead you to your salvation. And if it happens overnight, it’s not real. You are your only limitation Q&A What is the connection between our lymphatic system and our emotions? Everything you experience in your life, is held in your body Cells, organs, blood, bones, muscles The body is brilliant, and adapts to every experience you have in order to learn from it or protect you moving forward Sometimes your body gets caught in the adaption and creates a holding pattern Ex: Walking through crowded Times Square, and a big angry guy hits your arm as he walks by. In either fear or anger, you might respond by holding your arm a little closer to your chest. Buf if you keep doing that, it will affect your whole body. My work is about unwinding chronic holding patterns in your body and your life How does this play into lymphatic drainage? Your lymphatic system is your body’s natural detox system The physical and emotional body are one If your physical body’s way of getting rid of waste, toxins, essentially negative energy, has been blocked, then literally and figuratively, you’ve been full of shit. This is why, when you break up the lymphatic system, you may have an emotional release  Tears are lymphatic fluid and are also releasing negative energy, so crying is more lymphatic drainage Lymphatic system is a mirror of emotional and spiritual health If your physical body’s way of getting rid of what no longer serves you is blocked, then the intuitive, emotional, spiritual connection you have, and the ability you have  to release what no longer serves you and attract in what is healing and beneficial to you, is also clogged. “When the mind and the body are incongruent, trust the body.”-Alexander Lowen (Father of Bioenergetic Therapy) If you feel disconnected emotionally or spiritually, get in your body. Do some intentional body work, to unwind that block. The physical release will also release your emotional/spiritual blockages. Send in your questions: queen@growthequeendom.com; IG and FB- @queendom.come.podcast Online video coaching with me through BEAM+Flow “Embodied Flow Sessions” (bodywork, feelings, hormone balancing, creative coaching)- beaming@beamandflow.com IG and FB: @beam.and.flow or @chloecofresi During Coronavirus, all embodied flow sessions are pay what you can. If you’re an essential worker, they’re free!   Moment of Flow “Warning” by Jenny Joseph When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me. And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter. I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells And run my stick along the public railings And make up for the sobriety of my youth. I shall go out in my slippers in the rain And pick flowers in other people’s gardens And learn to spit. You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat And eat three pounds of sausages at a go Or only bread and pickle for a week And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes. But now we must have clothes that keep us dry And pay our rent and not swear in the street And set a good example for the children. We must have friends to dinner and read the papers. But maybe I ought to practise a little now? So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Intro Happy 12th birthday to my cat Lulu! WWQD- What Would Queens DO? What would Queens say? What drugs would Queens use? What would Queens fight for? What would Queens look for in a lover? What would a Queen watch? What would a Queen read? WWJD was full of guilty connotations as a kid. I felt like, “WWJD--don’t get punished! WWJD--don’t get in trouble!” Let’s change that!  WWQD isn’t about punishment, it’s about pleasure! It’s a dance, it’s a yoga, it’s a practice. A way of breaking free from the things that distract ourselves We free ourselves of lower vibrations, because they’re illusions, they’re false gold. And we want the real treasure, because we are the real treasure!   Interview with Lauren Berlingeri and Katie Kaps, owners of HigherDOSE This show wouldn’t exist without Lauren and Katie I created and lead the Lymphatic Drainage program at HigherDOSE They gave me the chance to launch my business in much bigger arena than I would have on my own, and then it grew so quickly! Many of my guests are women I met because they were clients at HigherDOSE. Lauren and Katie were business partners first, then best friends, then not friends, then best friends again. Katie came from an extensive finance background, Lauren was doing TV hosting and had her own show, and was a nutritionist and health coach.  They both went to spending 80% of time launching business, not making any money. “We laughed together and cried together  and argued and blamed each other and learned from each other. “ It’s like marriage without the sex How did you respect each other when you were fighting as friends? Because we were business partners from basically the day we met, we put the business first, even when we couldn’t stand each other. We both understand how important energy is, so we always take the time to focus on the personal before diving into the business, because it also supports us as creative entrepreneurs.  “Hey babe, you’re hot. Wanna start a sauna business with me?” How you run the business is centered around energy and intention. How do you do it as Queens? If we don’t want to do something, we’re not gonna do it. We create for ourselves, so that we can support a need or desire we already have.  Going from heart and stomach, and not from the head. The heart vibrates at a frequency that’s 5x stronger than the head. When you're working from your heart space, you’re a magnet for opportunity, attracting opportunity We’re not afraid to be a little irreverent and authentic, because we’re not thinking about what makes us the most money all the time. How has your growth in the business affected your relationships? Lauren is a new mom to twins.  How am i going to have children when I already have a child, HigherDOSE? So I looked at women who were already doing it, and you realize you just do it. Lifestyles and priorities shift, my children come first and then higherDOSE is second. Then self-care, and outside of that there’s not much. Lauren has been waiting for 5 years for quarantine, but Katie is very much a free spirit.  Katie: I can get more done on 2 hours of my own terms, than 10 hours for someone else.  Katie: Being an entrepreneur gives me time to explore relationships and friendships. How has the success of the business shifted dynamics in your marriage/dating life? It’s important to choose a partner who wants to see you and help you grow Being an entrepreneur has opened up mystique in the dating world, but there are some people who are also more jealous. But if you can give your new lover an infrared sauna session, it helps. What seeds do you want to plant with our audience to “Grow the Queendom?” Manifestation, being completely clear on what you want.  Abundance and generosity. The more you give out, it comes back tenfold.    Q&A What is the lymphatic system, and why is it important? Theme of the month Passion Definition of passion - strong and barely controllable emotion, the suffering and death of Jesus. Being passionate is key to the marriage relationship. You can display passion about your life together, about the one you love, about specific parts of life; however the most important thing you should be passionate about is survival and thrift of the marriage itself. Be locked into what's best for the marriage as your north star and you’ll always be lead to the proper place. In 2003, American and European researchers tracked 1,761 people who got married and stayed married over the course of 15 years. The findings—confirmed by recent research—were clear: Newlyweds enjoy a big happiness boost that lasts, on average, just two years. Then the special joy wears off and they are back where they started, at least in terms of happiness.   Top of Mind for US Nipsey Hussle (And Lauren London) “...I have no words.” -Lauren London   Q&A What advice do you have for my husband and I in this season of marriage, being married 4 years with a child? Came from our #tbt post on IG. Married 4 years and still excited! Believe it or not, we still had PASSION and we were in the first growth phase of our marriage trying to figure out how to buy a house, buy a nice “expensive” car, not work a job and just be rich. We had strong FAITH and were Grateful for our status in life. Also we only had one child and you couldn’t tell us anything!   Dopest Couple in the World-Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet Doing it Well-Try a sex pillow like a liberator for some fun new spins on sex positions! WDW: Disney Advice from a Local Floridian - 009

Report the Magic

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 18, 2019 42:17

Today we are going to take a peek into Walt Disney World through the eyes of a local Floridian. I had the opportunity to chat with Bethany, who lives in Frostproof, Florida (a very tiny town about 45 minutes south of Orlando) with her two teenage daughters and her husband. Bethany grew up two hours from Disney World, and Disney was always a big part of her life.  Now she’s able to pass that on to her children. Not only that, but Disney has introduced her children to so many people from around the world…something you would not get from a small town like Frostproof.   Q&A: What does life look like when you live so close to Disney World? How often do you actually go to the parks? Usually two to three times a month Do you have annual passes to any other theme parks? We have them right now just for Disney, but we’re planning on getting passes for Busch Gardens. We would like a more affordable option for friends and family that come visit. If you are staying the night when you go to Disney World, do you usually stay on property or off property? On property – we will get one of the Value Resorts because it is the kids’ absolute favorite. They just love that everything is oversized and big and the pools are different shapes and themes… Can you explain the feeling behind why you’re so adamant about always having Annual Passes and keeping Disney in your life? It’s the Cast Members. We have never had a bad trip to Disney ever. And to be able to take my childhood memories and pass them down to my children and maybe one day they’ll pass it down to their children… It’s traditions. Like Christmas is not going to be Christmas until we go see the castle lit up. It’s hard to explain. You would think after five years with Annual Passes we would be sick of it, but no. Absolutely not. You do something new every time you go. How Bethany and her family have embraced the Disney spirit If we see a stressed out mom, maybe their kid is crying, we try to help. I think it’s so great that Bethany has taught her kids to think of other people first. She understands the meaning of a Disney vacation, especially to first-timers. One time my oldest daughter came up to me and she said ‘Mama, this kid just grabbed my hand. I don’t know who he belongs to,’ I heard a Mom yelling out for a kid and ‘I said I think we have him!’ I just want everybody to feel appreciated, especially Cast Members, and seeing how some people can act… so I thank them anytime I get a chance because like I said, they make dreams come true. Is Disney World safe? I feel like it is the safest place in the world. My teenage daughters can go off and I don’t have to worry about them. They have their own FastPasses or they might go get lunch somewhere without their father and I… I just love the security that I feel. We always thank the cops that are standing out front because they do an outstanding job. Now it’s not like you shouldn’t still use caution in Disney World, but in addition to the security Cast Members you see throughout the parks, there’s actually a lot that you don’t see. There are so many in plain clothes pretending to be tourists. That doesn’t mean you should do anything different than you would otherwise, but you may feel a little bit safer knowing that someone’s got your back. What’s a common mistake that you see people in Disney World making? Wearing flip-flops! And women wearing heels. (It really happens, I’ve seen it too!) You’ll oftentimes see these women wearing sandals from the stores within the parks because their heels were just killing their feet. WHAT IS THE BEST MONTH FOR YOU TO VISIT DISNEY WORLD? This is such a common question. What are the best shoes to wear in Disney World? My family and I went to Florida in July for the first time two years ago (it wasn’t by choice, it was for a dance competition or I don’t think I would have chosen July otherwise) and I knew it would be so hot. I thought maybe running shoes would make my feet too hot, but it was the best decision I made. Pro Tip from Bethany: If you ever do get blisters on the backs of your feet, first aid has the best blister Band-Aids ever. I can’t find them over the counter and I have searched and searched. First Aid is amazing! I heard this once, I believe it was on another podcast and I of course don’t remember which, but they mentioned that if you are planning a Walt Disney World vacation it’s helpful to start exercising or at least walking, months before your trip. Remember, you will be walking ten to twelve miles a day and I’m guessing most of you, in your daily life, don’t walk ten miles in a day. Children with Special Needs (Sensory sensitivity) Disney is is very stimulating… my youngest daughter is autistic and so she can get overwhelmed with all the crowds around her. Remember how colorful and noisy the parks are to kids and take it easy on the toddlers. They have little legs and it’s usually very hot in Orlando.   If you have a child with sensory sensitivity, seek out Cast Members for help when they get overwhelmed (simply explain you need a “Break Area” to relax from the stimulation.) Bethany remembers one time during the fireworks, the Cast Members brought  her to the Baby Care Center and they let her stay there where it was very quiet until her daughter was able to calm down. But there are several other areas as well that Cast Members will direct you to when you need some quiet in your Disney Day. Favorite Table Service and Quick Service Restaurants Table Service: Nine Dragons (China Pavilion – Epcot). On one visit, Bethany’s sister wanted to try it… and Bethany was introduced to Salt and Pepper Shrimp (a noodle dish). She says the garlic and the spices are what make her get it every time they go to Nine Dragons. Counter Service: Barbecue ribs in Harambe Market in Africa in the Animal Kingdom (they’re actually on the kids’ menu). Also, the Flame Tree BBQ in Animal Kingdom…everything on that menu is good. Absolutely everything.  Favorite Disney Memory Meeting Anna and Elsa. It was Christmas Eve night and the park was empty. They got to meet Anna and Elsa and since there was nobody else was in line, Bethany and her family were able to spend 30 – 35 minutes with the characters before the next family arrived. They played hide-and-seek and Bethany has a picture of her teenage daughter… …and her smile she was just so happy that night and I never thought I’d see that. I just love this because oftentimes I hear the question “Is Disney World for teenagers?” I appreciate the perspective because of course, you wouldn’t expect a young teenager at that point to just buy into a character experience and let themselves just have fun. Not only that, this wasn’t an isolated experience. One time in Animal Kingdom, they were at a dance with a DJ and a girl pulled Bethany’s daughter on to the dance floor with her. And Bethany nearly fell over when her daughter danced. Disney is magic. P.S. After I interviewed Bethany I got a GREAT message from her...she was back in Disney World with her Sister. Now they have gone several times, but they were on a break from going together. Until her Sister could beat the cancer that had taken over. So you can imagine why getting this message was such great news! Congrats to you all!

She is taking suggestions for self love and self care, sharing publicly her process, and acknowledging successes and failures. Lara is also planning on returning to coaching, on her own terms. She feels in the last year she was given too much advice from others, and forgot to listen to her own voice. She intends to start again, in alignment with her own values and beliefs. Rosetta Magdalen thought she had made a good choice in her selection of a husband. She discovered her husband led a secret life, in a long term relationship with another woman. This led her to question her choices, and how she missed the signs. Along the way, she discovered the importance of recognizing the difference between wanting someone and needing someone. After years of struggle after her divorce, she discovered some methods and techniques that helped her deal with the emotional trauma. Discovering that it worked for her, Rosetta reached out to other women to see if her method would work for them. Q & A What was the number one thing that was holding you back from accepting self love? I feel that the one thing holding me back was something I carried with me from my childhood. It was the message that I was never good enough. That I was never perfect enough to be worthy of love. Who is one person who has changed your life for the better? That would have to be my grandmother. Because she was the heart of our family, and she was the person who believed in me. She gave me permission to make mistakes. What is the best advice you have ever received? The four questions to use when something is upsetting you: number one, is what I am thinking true? Two, can I absolutely know it's true? Three, how do I react or feel when I believe the upsetting thoughts that I am afraid might be true? Four, who would I be without that thought? What is a self care habit that you practice regularly? I stay in bed for 30 minutes, and I do a meditation which is not traditional. I mentally and silently repeat an affirmation in my mind for 30 minutes. The words I am saying remind me that the universe is loving and supports me and is on my side in everything I do. Do you have a favorite quote? “What other people think of me is none of my business.” What is the one thing that you are most passionate about? Predictively, what I am most passionate about is my coaching practice. It is just because, for me, the divorce seemed such a failure and such a drop off the cliff. And what it ended up being was the greatest blessing of my life. Guest Bio Rosetta Magdalen coaches divorcing women to feel powerful, lovable, and become the women they always meant to be. She created The Dynamic Divorcee Method™ (a breakthrough system for quick post-divorce emotional healing) when she found it unacceptable that the healing process following divorce was so long and painful. Can you share a resource, an app or a tool that we can use to build our selfcare practice. I usually use YouTube to discover things. I really like to write down things. At age 17, Marnie became pregnant with her first child, a daughter. Because of her enormous love for her daughter, Marnie started taking steps that brought her to finally love herself. Q & A What was the number one thing that was holding you back from accepting self love? Feeling that I wasn’t worthy. Not just feeling it, knowing that I wasn’t worthy. I’ve been focusing on articles about foster care, group homes, and boarding school. What is the one thing that you are most passionate about? As a survivor of childhood abuse, Susanne left her home, knowing if she stayed, she would die, and if she left, she might have a chance to live. She talks about her realization you can’t make sense out of nonsense. There is nothing that could justify her experiences. This difficult time led her to become a better healer, and allows her to bring closer to others who have experienced trauma. When Susanne was pregnant, her past experiences of child abuse put her on a different road of care from her team of midwives. Thanks to the hypnobirthing course she did and learning how to work with her own medical team she had her own positive birth experience in May 2014. This birth gave her a new mission in life and she is now working with women all around the world to help them to heal their (birth) trauma experiences. Q & A What was the number one thing that was holding you back from accepting self love? Being told that I wasn't worth it. That belief that was still so deeply invested in me. I really had to work through that in order to be able to start giving to myself. I just wasn't worth it, so why would you take care of yourself. Who is one person who has changed your life for the better? My best friend, who I met in high school. The story he told me about his grandparents and how they fought during the war, it put me on a whole path. What is the best advice you have ever received? it’s okay to be you. What is a self care habit that you practice regularly? I love dancing with my little girl. Do you have a favorite quote? Whether something is right or wrong often depends on the person who has done it. Can you share with us a resource or an app that we can use to help our own self care practice grow? There are guided meditations at BelindaDavidson.com about cleaning your aura and your energy that are important to me in my work. What book are you reading right now? Get Rich, Lucky Bitch, by Denise Duffield Thomas. What is the one thing that you are most passionate about? The healing of women, and mother earth as a whole. Helping ladies get back their power.

She is an advocate of mindfulness, yoga, essential oils and helping others to love themselves and true alignment and balance. Q & A What was the number one thing that was holding you back from accepting self love? Me, blocking myself from myself. Who is one person who has changed your life for the better? Gabby Bernstein. What is the best advice you have ever received? “Change the way you see things, and the things you see will change.” Wayne Dyer. What is a self care habit that you practice regularly? I try to say something positive to myself right away. Then I meditate. Then I journal. Then I pull an Angel card, which guides me to what I need to hear that day. Do you have a favorite quote? “What you feel emotionally becomes how you feel physically.” Can you share with us a resource or an app that we can use to help our own self care practice grow? Positive books from Audible, or positive podcasts that I listen to. What book are you reading right now? The Universe Has Your Back, by Gabby Bernstein. What is the one thing that you are most passionate about? Inner peace. I believe that everyone deserves to have it and that everyone can have it.

On November 13th 1996, Rumiko Takahashi's feudal fairy tale InuYasha began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday, where it would continue to run for a nearly 12-year run. From the very beginning, InuYasha was wildly popular and successful both in Japan and internationally, and its popularity and influence on anime fandom are still indelible nearly a decade since it's conclusion. In honor of 20 years of InuYasha, Manga Mavericks' resident Rumic World expert LumRanmaYasha has recruited their brother and previous guest VlordGTZ to discuss the legacy of the series. We explore the origins of why InuYasha was created, how several characters came to be, and the history of InuYasha in North America. Then, we answer some Q&As asked of us by fans on Reddit, and discuss our favorite moments from the series, as well as commenting on Rumiko Takahashi's own. So sit, boy, and listen to us talk about everyone's favorite dog-eared half-demon. Don't worry, we promise it won't take as long as actually reading/watching the series! Disclaimer: You may hear a lot of sirens going off in the background of this episode. Let's just say the neighborhood I live in is always very noisy. Normally, we've been able to edit them out, but this week was a no-go, unfortunately. Just a heads up for those of you wondering what the heck that's about. Editor's Note, 2020: In this episode, Lum repeatedly refers to themselves with an epithet that includes an unfortunate slur. We were much younger and not as socially and critically conscious back then as we are now, and in retrospect, we find the use of this pejorative in a self-deprecating sense excruciatingly in poor taste and cringey. We humbly ask you to keep in mind that the use of this term in this podcast does not reflect upon what we consider acceptable to say now. Brian Kurtz: The Lost Art of Using Direct Mail & The Internet To Scale Any Business Hello everyone! Welcome to another episode of The Ed O’Keefe Show. On this episode I have a very special guest Mr. Brian Kurtz. Brian was the Executive VP at a one of the most renowned direct response marketing and publishing businesses of all time, Boardroom Inc. For 33 years he was the right hand, where he went from list management to the direct response side, to managing copywriters to running it for many years. Now before you wonder if this is for you or not, let me just tell you when I went into this interview my number one goal was to listen to how Brian and Boardroom went from a company from zero to doing hundreds of millions of dollars a year, and mailing as Brian says in the interview close to 2 Billion direct mail pieces of all time. One of the secrets that I’ve discovered in our business is that everything’s about the list meaning who are you communicating with, and then how you reach them. So in this episode we discuss how to scale the business, any business, from a mathematical perspective and it’s not going be the same math you think you’ve already heard before. So dive in, enjoy, share it, let me know what you think! Selected Links from the Episode:51:00 Secrets of Successful Direct Mail by Richard V.
