In this episode of the Power Producers Podcast, David Carothers talks with Sivan Iram from Flow Specialty. They discuss Flow Specialty's innovative approach to using AI in insurance to enhance wholesale relationships, improve underwriting response times, and reduce operational friction for agents. Flow Specialty combines human expertise with AI-driven tools to speed up quote turnaround and improve accuracy without requiring agents to use portals. Sivan highlights that Flow's AI is an internal tool supporting brokers rather than replacing them, positioning the company as a "caddy" for agents. Flow's AI manages various tasks, such as analyzing quotes, market insights, and carrier communications. This combination allows agents to handle complex insurance transactions efficiently and frees up time to focus on larger accounts. Key Points: Introduction to Sivan Iram and Flow David Carothers introduces Sivan Iram from Flow, highlighting producer challenges with traditional wholesalers. Sivan shares his transition from software to innovating traditional industries. Founded three and a half years ago, Flow provides enterprise-level service to mid-market and small commercial spaces, addressing inefficiencies like slow responses and lack of expertise through AI.     Flow's Approach to Wholesale Efficiency   Flow uses algorithmic underwriting and API integrations for faster turnaround. Acting as a "quarterback," Flow manages submissions and automates tasks traditionally done by retailers. Unlike wholesalers, Flow takes full ownership of the process.     User Experience with Flow   Sivan explains Flow's AI agents offer speed, expertise, and tailored insights for brokers. These agents analyze quotes, compare options, and communicate with carriers, enhancing brokers' work without replacing them.     Addressing AI Concerns   David compares AI to a golf caddy, supporting rather than replacing people. Sivan agrees, noting that Flow reduces portal fatigue while keeping human oversight. Agents appreciate AI's ability to deliver faster, better service without compromising expertise.     Growth and Future of Flow   Flow is growing rapidly, tripling revenue monthly and signing 60+ agencies. With a strong carrier network and investments in technology, Flow balances human expertise with AI-driven insights, providing unmatched market value.     Conclusion and Call to Action   David encourages listeners to try Flow and highlights its potential to transform wholesale markets. Sivan provides contact information and reassures agencies about the ease of working with Flow. Welcome to Episode 72 of the Building Better Games Podcast! We're getting back into flow, this time focusing on players and game design. Kevin Scheepers, the founder of FlowMate and GameWell, will be talking about how you can build flow into your games to improve engagement. Have you ever felt completely immersed in a game, losing track of time and becoming one with the experience? Or wondered how developers can intentionally craft this feeling for players? Knowing how flow works for players will help you create captivating and seamless gaming experiences that keep players hooked. Key Points: Understanding Flow: Flow is the state where players lose themselves in the game, merging action and awareness. It involves a loss of self-consciousness and time distortion, creating a deeply immersive experience. Flow in Game Design: Developers can foster flow by designing clear goals, balancing challenge and skill, and minimizing distractions. Personalized experiences tailored to individual player profiles keep the flow state active. Triggers and Blockers of Flow: Flow is triggered by the balance between challenge and skill; too much or too little breaks the state. Distractions or unclear mechanics can block flow, and understanding these factors is key. Designing for Flow Phases: There are four phases of flow: struggle, release, flow, and recovery. It's crucial for games to guide players through these phases for optimal engagement. Games that understand and incorporate these phases can keep players coming back for more.   Future of Flow in Gaming: Kevin and I look into the future, discussing adaptive technologies that could personalize flow experiences for each player. Understanding different player types and motivations will be key to designing games that maintain flow over long periods. Mastering the concept of flow will give you a step up in crafting games that are not just enjoyable but profoundly engaging. Whether you're a game developer aiming to create unforgettable experiences or a gamer curious about what makes some games so compelling, this episode is filled with insights you won't want to miss. The idea of 'flow' is really appealing. It's like smoothly sailing through life without a hitch, a dream many of us wish for. But, only a few have really figured out how to let go of stress and embrace this way of living. To unlock the secrets of 'flow,' we must first recognise that it exists in a natural rhythm, one harmonious with the very essence of existence. It mirrors the evolution, where life persists and thrives through the unbroken stream of creative intelligence. So, why do we, as humans, sometimes find it challenging to merge into this flow? The answer lies within ourselves. We introduce resistance into our lives. This resistance begets conflict, confusion, defensiveness, and self-sabotage. In ancient Vedic wisdom, the key to embodying the flow lies in relinquishing resistance. Left undisturbed, life itself is a continuous stream of creative intelligence. However, resistance often takes on various forms. It emerges when we voice disagreement or assert our boundaries. It surfaces when self-doubt creeps in, casting shadows on our path. It arises from past traumas, entrenched habits, and the fear of change or the memory of past failures. While conventional remedies like positive thinking may serve as temporary salves, true transformation requires a more profound internal shift. The root of resistance lies within three powerful illusions, illusion of time, illusion of need that creates the strongest resistance and the illusion of ego. We tend to come to life from perspective of self, of stress and pressure of time and desires which results in ongoing competition, judgement and comparison. It is quite tiring and exhausting to live our life from stress - fight and flight mode (amygdala mode) and live in resistance. While we can actually LET GO OF those human constructs and can live in kindness and love. Recognising these illusions is pivotal, but true progress comes from personal introspection and transformation. Transformation is not a one day thing it is sustainable work on ourselves. It is progress and ongoing work in conscious mind that is leading to true joy and flow. With love Alex If you want to be part of my Inner Circle please check in. Location: Vancouver, BC Music: Your Magnificent Self Spotify Playlist Poem from class: They Call to You to Sing by Hafiz Stones are longing for what you know. If they had the graceful movements Of your feet and tongue, They would not stop laughing Between their ecstatic dance steps and unbroken praise. Your heart beats inside a sacred drum, Its skin is tanned and stretched— Our skin is alive and stretched— With the wild molecules of [our] Wondrous Existence. Your mind and eyes are an immense silk cloth Upon which all your thoughts and movements paint. Your soul once sat on an easel on my knee. For ages I have been sketching you With myriad shapes of sound and light; Now awake, dear pilgrim, With your thousand swaying arms That need to caress the Sky. Now awake with your love for the Friend and Creation, Help this Old Tavern Sweeper, Hafiz, To celebrate. No more enemies from this golden view— All who have entered this holy mountain cave Have dropped their shields and swords. We all cook together around a fire Our yearning music builds. We share our tools and instruments and plates; We are companions on this earth As the sun and planets are in the sky. We are all sentries at our sacred humble posts. The stones and stars envy the movements Of your legs and tongue And call to you to sing on their behalf. The atoms in your cells and limbs are full of wonderful talents; They dance in the Hidden Choir [we] conduct. Don't sleep tonight, dear pilgrim, So I can lead you on my white mare to [the] Summer House. This love you now have for the Truth Will never forsake you. Your joys and sufferings on this arduous path Are lifting your worn veil like a rising stage curtain And will surely reveal your Magnificent Self So that you can guide this world… In the Hidden Choir [Of the Divine] and [their] friends will forever Conduct. Intro- How do you define “home?” Home felt unreachable to me as a child, because my idea of home was built around a nuclear family dynamic that I didn’t have. After my mom spent a year in the hospital, and ultimately survived Leukemia, I felt like home could always be taken from me. It took years to learn how to find home within myself. How can you find home within, so you can be “at home” with others? Selima Lust interview Clinical Herbalist, medical astrologer, and spiritual teacher My wife Tami and I started our company in 2011 manufacturing body care products. Came out of a need to find solutions to our health concerns that were not being addressed in the medical field. After years of healing physically, I recognized the remaining inflammation was trauma related. You have to heal your emotional wounds to heal your physical pain. So many people are afraid to go into the past and heal what’s hurting them, but it’s so worth it. You can’t even imagine the kind of things that are waiting for you on the other side. You go through so many layers of healing the same trauma. At some point, you develop a process for yourself for triggers or resistance, you’re able to move through it with more ease and grace When you make space for the new, all kinds of things change. The Tower Card has to happen, it is going to happen. AND--it’s only a moment. You will move through to the new. Boundaries How do you walk the line between explaining why your boundaries are what they are, without telling someone how to do their own process? There is a compassionate way to communicate a boundary, and that needs to be at the center of the communication. To the other person, this new boundary is divergent from what’s always been the dynamic. And that takes a practice of compassion. It’s an educator role, and a reinforcement for yourself too. How did you and your wife process your trauma together, and build a business around that, without losing your boundaries or individuality? A natural thing that happens in any relationship, especially the beginning, is you start to dissolve into each other, but you find your way when you realize “oh we’ve melded too much with each other. Let’s find our way back to our individuality within this relationship.” We like the same things. We talk a lot. I had to learn how to move and push through my uncomfortability communicating. We don’t try to soften blows. We listen to each other’s perspectives. You need to communicate because your behavior is changing based on your thinking, and your partner can’t read your mind. Call out and notice changes in body language. So much communication can happen non-verbally, and be used in the moment as opposed to letting a story build up in your head about what the other person was thinking. You can communicate anger or pain, and if you do it with an open heart, it will be received in a way that can be processed.  If you’re working on your stuff, and becoming more and more whole, you’ll be able to find the balance between expressing vulnerability and acknowledging that it’s your work to do and not theirs. At first, we didn’t want kids. But after 6 years together and healing trauma, we opened up so much space and so much love to give, and that’s how we came to be parents. If I keep growing, and keep healing trauma, my son will be ok. Even in utero, practice talking to your kids like they’re 20 or 30. Talk to them like you have the relationship you want to have with them when they’re 20 or 30. Working through your trauma can change your ability to care for others, including children. What is your favorite product to use with clients? Immunity syrup--we have the ability to maintain our health and heal ourselves, away from traditional power structures. Words are like seeds of intention. What seeds would you like to plant with our listeners to grow the queendom? Choose joy! In every decision consider, your choices, your words...what’s in alignment with joy? Even if it's the harder thing, choose joy.   Q&A : What’s your relationship like with water? We are mostly water, it is fundamental to our existence. Who has access to clean water? How do we keep the water we have access to, clean? Use less water at home. Be intentional about noticing the gift of water, everytime you use it. Water takes on sound frequencies, it responds to emotional cues. Water is conscious.  Write me, let me know how it’s going! Explore all of them! Your nails, your toes, your ankles. 5 mins each foot.  Next, your hands. 5 mins each hand.  End with your ears. You can pull on the edges, flatten the curved edge. After several years teaching in public schools in Los Angeles, CA, she was recruited by the American School of Madrid in 2001, where she taught Kindergaten and First Grade and took on several leadership roles (i.e. Grade Level Chair, Accreditation Committee Leader, etc.). With her educational and professional experience firmly in place, she developed a methodology for making language learning fun, and began her entrepreneurial journey in 2008 with literally one student in her living room. Shortly afterwards, she had a total of 70 students, and actually had to expand her business. English for Fun is an educational group with an English Enrichment Program for children and adults, an Urban Camp Program, an American Early Childhood Center and a Training Center for educators. Today, she owns schools in Madrid and Pozuelo de Alarcon, and this year alone more than 3,000 students will benefit from the English for Fun method! Back in the fall of 2018, I had the privilege of visiting the Stribling family, touring English for Fun, and speaking with the parents at both of the school campuses. Big Ideas It is important to think of others during this time. If we are not careful, we could cause the death of someone that we or someone else loves. This is a great time to stay inside and work on ourselves. Quotes Jill: I think that this was the scariest thing that I've ever been through in my entire life. Jill: We were really lucky that he recovered in a week. Jill: I think that now looking back on it, we realize, you know, how crazy everything was and how fortunate we are. But, um, but yeah, it was not easy. And, and, you know, I wish looking back on everything that, that not only would we have taken this more seriously when it happened. Jill: If you are someone who is a carrier and you infect other people, you will never know if you caused a death for somebody that someone else loves. Audrey: It's almost as if like, if you don't know anyone directly, it must not be that serious or something. And these numbers of deaths on that we see on the news just seem not as relevant if you don't know them, which is sad. Jill: The thing about how contagious it is is that you don't even realize it until it's too late. Jill: So that for me is the hardest part of this, is all the damage you do to others when you're not careful. Jill: By the time you realize that you have it, you've already passed it to eight to fifteen people. Audrey: I was wishing we had done better because now of course we're seeing that it's kind of everywhere now and cases are still going up in like most of our states. Jill: I think COVID is kind of teaching us that, you know, we've gotta live differently. Jill: It's not about me anymore. It's about somebody's grandmother. It's about somebody's mother who could have cancer. And I know that for a fact, because I have seen it. Jill: I get it like we're social. We want to go out. But I think right now it's the time to work on ourselves. Audrey: I,  like you, hope that from this, we learn that we are a community. We're a global community. What happens over there impacts us, we all have a responsibility. Resources/Links English for Fun NY Times article Jill mentions I'm Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness Review by Audrey One Simple Thing - Find Your Flow What is "Flow"? Flow is a term coined by psychologist Mihaly Csikzentmihalyi (pronounced “cheeks sent me high”) that refers to a state of optimal experience and involvement in an activity during which we are performing at our best. Watch Dr. Csikszentmihalyi talk about flow in his TED Talk, “Flow, the Secret to Happiness.” When we’re in “flow,” we are doing something we really, really enjoy. We can’t wait to do the activity again, and we feel a lot of positive emotions while participating in the activity. We can stick with it for hours without even noticing the time going by. In fact, when we’re in flow, it’s hard to stop whatever we’re doing. Flow is different from pleasure – simply doing things that are enjoyable like watching TV, scrolling on social media, or shopping. Instead, flow activities usually are demanding and take our full attention and concentration. How do I achieve flow? People achieve flow in all different ways, including while playing a musical instrument, playing a sport, writing, painting, attending a concert, bird watching, riding a horse, or running, to name just a few. Often we cannot relate to the passion others have for their personal “flow” activity, since their enthusiasm and passion seem inordinately high. For the lucky ones among us, we find flow in our daily work. The younger you are, the more likely it is that you’ve been in flow today. Young children excel at getting into a state of flow, usually during unstructured play time. As they create their pretend worlds, “cook” in the sand box, build a fort, or swing high on a swing, they are joyful and time flies by for them. Young children are experts at happily living in the moment. As we get older, however, we need to be more aware of getting ourselves into that engaged, amazing state that we enjoyed when we were younger. Official definition of flow Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does. Possible Flow Activities And here are some ideas of possible flow activities from Deann Ware, Ph.d: Physical activities such as sports, yoga, dance, and martial arts Outdoor challenges such as hiking Music–writing, playing, mixing Art–painting, sculpture, mixed media, pottery Photography Woodworking Do-It-Yourself projects, such as home improvement Working with animals Gardening Cooking and baking Software development/coding Scrapbooking Writing Needlework–sewing, knitting, cross stitch Horseback riding What you do for work (hopefully!) Questions to ask yourself (and your kids) What activities get you into flow? When have you been doing something that you are so engaged that you’ve completely lost track of time? What are new activities you want to try this summer? What makes your heart “sing?” Sometimes, we need to explore different activities before we figure out which activities get us into that awesome state of flow. Don’t worry if you haven’t found that awesome, engaged state yet. Sometimes, it takes awhile to explore, and many adults haven’t even figured it out yet! So start now, while you have some free time, exploring different activities – creative, athletic, academic, etc. – and find your flow! Flow states are a great clue as we figure out who we are and what makes us our best self! Finding Flow My Favorite I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness

Show Notes 1.小时候外公送了一部单反相机给Kenton,小小的他带着大大的相机穿梭在城市里,“当时我感觉,好想要一辈子和Ta在一起了”,就这样他...

85- Oren Harris: Living with Flow

Life on Purpose

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 3, 2018 56:52

For Life on Purpose Episode #85, my guest is world-class facilitator and transformation specialist Oren Harris. Described as "a being who is living as Infinite Self within a finite world", Oren is a real life demonstration of the saying, “be in the world, but not of it”, and is capable of showing up in a vast number of ways to best serve those he is inspired to work with. He joined me for an inspiring and in-depth conversation on all things related to Flow. We also discussed consciousness, trust, resonance, surrender, perspective, detachment, limitless living, and Oren's own life story/journey. ”Flow is often times perceived as something that is only accessible to spiritual masters, or during 'peak experiences'. This paints a picture of flow as something impractical, reserved for select individuals, select moments, or select areas of life.” On the contrary, flow is highly practical, accessible to everyone, and applicable to all areas of life." About Oren Harris: It’s difficult, if not impossible, to put a finger on exactly who Oren Harris is. A being who is living as Infinite Self within a finite world, Oren is a real life demonstration of the saying, “be in the world, but not of it”, and is capable of showing up in a vast number of ways to best serve those he is inspired to work with. There are a couple of things you can put your finger on, however. Oren is a world-class facilitator & transformation specialist, and his clients always reach their next level through working with him. Always. No matter how far along an individual is in their personal or spiritual development, and no matter how large and impactful their expression has become, Oren has the special ability to clearly see the next level of their infinite potential that is available to them, and is able to masterfully guide them into embodying their next level of potential over and over again. Because of this, those who work with Oren usually become clients for life, as they realize the immeasurable value of having a being by their side who can see, speak to, and draw out all of who they really are every time they connect with him. Oren’s ultimate “superhero” ability is something that comes naturally to him… so naturally, in fact, that he doesn’t even notice it most of the time, but its impact is very real and frequently life-changing for those who happen to experience it. His presence activates people. Time and time again, individuals who cross paths with Oren, even if for a brief moment, report back that after their encounter with him, their expansion accelerated and significant shifts almost immediately started taking place in their lives. Such is the power and consequence of being beheld with Unconditional Love, a rare and priceless gift that Oren has tapped into, consistently embodies, and shares with the world everywhere he goes. Regardless of where you are on your respective path, if you’re an individual who is fired up about and wholeheartedly committed to fully engaging life and giving it all that you’ve got, then Oren is inspired to connect with, and potentially work with you. What is Flow? Flow is a peak state of consciousness where you feel your best and perform your best . Flow is a state of being in which you are in alignment with your true self and the universe. You spontaneously act in the most intelligent and life supporting way. Life becomes more effortless and charming. When you are in Flow: You perform at your absolute best and beyond You are consistently in the right place at the right time Time disappears and you are fully present Your intentions manifest effortlessly “Miracles” happen more regularly You have access to an infinite well of intelligence that surpasses your own understanding Your levels of efficiency and productivity soar Your true self is awakened Your intuition is off the charts Your creativity becomes unlimited Synchronicity (magical coincidences) are frequent Your individualized sense of “self” disappears and you feel connected to all of life
