A new tool to help Australia build renewables in the right places will launch this November. Called AVISTEP, it uses millions of bird sightings, decades of research and expert modelling to map where wind, solar and transmission projects are likely to have low, medium or high impacts on biodiversity. The aim is to get renewables built — but built in the right places – and avoid conflicts like the Robbins Island wind farm in Tasmania, recently approved despite sitting in a critical bird migration corridor. Already available overseas, AVISTEP works on a simple traffic-light system — green for go, red for no, amber for “find somewhere better.” BirdLife Australia's Dr. Golo Maurer explains how the tool works and why it could be a game-changer for the renewable rollout.

Justin Bieber BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Justin Bieber's name has been front and center these past few days, grabbing major headlines and fueling fan speculation. The biggest news is his surprise release of “SWAG II,” a mammoth new album unveiled just after midnight on Friday—though not without drama. According to ABC News and Good Morning America, Bieber stoked anticipation with a blitz of Instagram posts, billboards in Times Square and Atlanta, and viral teasers from Iceland, where much of this record was laid down. The album itself is a staggering effort, ranging anywhere from 23 to 44 new tracks depending on streaming platform interpretations, and features collaborations with Tems, Lil B, Bakar, Hurricane Chris, Eddie Benjamin, and even Marvin Winans and Sexyy Red. Media outlets like stupidDOPE and Y101 have been quick to point out that *SWAG II* is less about radio singles and more a streaming ecosystem, aiming squarely at today's playlist culture. The drop did not go completely smoothly. Virgin Radio hosts recounted how Bieber's own social media posts frantically documented his frustration as the album failed to show up at the promised time, with Bieber posting, refreshing, and even blaming upload delays on his own team rather than the streaming services. Ultimately, fans got the album—just hours late. The response online has been pure Bieber: huge streaming numbers, heated discussions about his evolving style, and a fresh wave of attention on his personal life. People magazine and Economic Times have highlighted Bieber's social media support for his wife, Hailey Bieber, whose Rhode skincare launch at Sephora brought the couple into joint spotlight. Bieber not only shared Rhode news with playful references to his song “Go Baby” but also dedicated tracks and heartfelt captions in support of Hailey's brand, underlining that his home life is as public as his musical career right now.Outside the studio and social feeds, public appearances around New York have sparked speculation and concern among fans. According to The Hollywood Gossip and IMDb, some fans have voiced worries about Bieber's physical appearance, and photos from these outings have launched a wave of commentary online—though there's no verified medical news or official statements to back up the chatter. Sites like SuperFriend acknowledge the rumor mills but confirm nothing substantial, leaving the conversation squarely in the realm of fan gossip for now.All of this is unfolding amidst Bieber's ongoing business ventures. Forbes and The Star Worths have reported that his real estate portfolio—luxury estates in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills—remains steady, and NetEase Cloud Music ranks him as its most-streamed Western artist, reflecting his sustained commercial clout. For now, the combination of album release spectacle, candid Instagram moments, viral family support, and public scrutiny make this one of the more biographically significant periods in Bieber's recent history. The headlines say it all: Bieber is pushing boundaries, keeping fans guessing, and staying firmly in the center of pop culture conversation.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOta

Think Play-Doh, fingerpaints, make believe and dress-up. Some 4-year-olds also need help going to the bathroom and wiping afterward. But teachers – and principals – are not always educated about these aspects of early education, making the roll-out of TK somewhat bumpy. In this episode, a TK teacher and our reporters discuss some of the challenges to making sure every California school is offering a high quality early education tailored to 4-year-olds' developmental needs. Andy and Brendan return to unpack Brian Rolapp's presser at East Lake ahead of the 2025 Tour Championship. Brendan is in especially high spirits following a strong start from Jacob Bridgeman who has found himself in contention to win the FedEx Cup after one round in Atlanta. The bulk of this episode is spent recapping Rolapp's press conference and discussing his first orders of business as CEO of the PGA Tour. It sounds like major changes are coming and Andy, Brendan, and PJ wonder where Rolapp and his newly formed committee will begin. Whether it's taking a piece of revenue from majors, various media rights deals, or shrinking the Tour even more, Rolapp seems eager to shake things up. The back half of this show previews the LIV Team Championship in Plymouth, Michigan. The event will be LIV's 50th tournament, leaving Andy and Brendan to wonder whether the league will make it to 100 events. Brendan runs through some all-time LIV stats, as this golf entity actually has accurate bookkeeping - a rarity these days! Jon Rahm has come down from Mt. Everest and made an interesting draft choice when choosing his first-round opponent, drawing comparisons to his beloved Arizona Diamondbacks. We will be back on Monday to break down golf's Super Bowl in full after a new FedEx Cup champion is crowned at East Lake on Sunday night.
News and Updates: Disney will fully integrate Hulu into Disney+ in 2026, creating a single streaming app while still offering standalone subscriptions. Internationally, Hulu will replace the Star brand in fall 2025. Disney expects the merger to cut costs, lower churn, and boost ad sales. Hulu + Live TV will merge with Fubo under a JV but remain separate until its own Disney+ integration in 2026. The move follows Disney's $9B buyout of Comcast's Hulu stake. ESPN and Fox will launch standalone live sports streaming services on Aug. 21, with a joint $39.99/month bundle available Oct. 2, saving subscribers about $10. ESPN's $29.99 plan includes its live channels and WWE coverage, while Fox One's $19.99 plan offers Fox News, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, and more. Warner Bros. Discovery is also developing a direct-to-consumer TNT Sports streaming product. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wants every American wearing a health tracker within four years under his “Make America Healthy Again” plan. Critics argue it's a tech industry giveaway with minimal real health impact, costly for consumers, and a distraction from weakening public health infrastructure. CGMs and wearables can help specific patients but offer little benefit to most healthy users. OpenAI launched GPT-5, calling it its “best AI yet” with better reasoning, fewer hallucinations, and stronger coding skills. It's free for all ChatGPT tiers with tier-based usage limits. However, backlash erupted as GPT-4o and other models were removed, with users complaining GPT-5 gives shorter, less personal answers and makes basic mistakes. CEO Sam Altman promised fixes, restored GPT-4o for Plus users, and plans tweaks to model-switching and “thinking mode.”

If you, like practically anyone else with a cell phone in the U.S. and beyond, have received a scam text message about an unpaid toll or undelivered mail item, there's a good chance you have been targeted by a prolific scamming operation. But a series of opsec mistakes ultimately led security researchers and investigative journalists to the real-world identity of the maker of the scamming software, Magic Cat, who researchers say goes by the handle Darcula. In other news, During a Reddit ask-me-anything session on Friday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and key members of the GPT-5 team were peppered with questions about the new model and requests to bring back its previous model, GPT-4o. They also asked Altman about the most embarrassing — and perhaps funniest — snafu in the presentation, the “chart crime.” Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The crash of healthcare.gov in October 2013 sparked a nationwide conversation about how the federal government designs and launches online services to the public. EasyGo, the country's largest private EV charging network, has today announced its selection to help deliver a landmark €15 million government-supported initiative that will install electric vehicle chargers at 229 sports clubs across the island of Ireland. The Scheme is funded through the Government's Shared Island Initiative and ZEVI infrastructure funding. Through it, GAA, rugby, soccer, cricket, golf and other sporting organisations will benefit from fast, reliable 50 kW DC chargers - bringing vital EV infrastructure into the heart of local communities, including many rural areas traditionally underserved. EasyGo is one of just three suppliers selected under the new scheme, and is offering clubs a zero-cost, profit-sharing partnership. Participating clubs will receive an attractive commercial offering helping them reinvest in grassroots sport while EasyGo handles installation, maintenance and insurance. The scheme is expected to significantly expand the EV charging network across both urban and rural areas across the whole island over the coming year. While the clubs eligible for the current scheme have already been selected, EasyGo welcomes expressions of interest from any club. This latest milestone builds on EasyGo's rapid national expansion and growing track record of community-first EV charging innovation. The company recently partnered with the Department of Transport to launch Ireland's first Shared Charging Initiative - a pioneering pilot scheme that allows homeowners to make their private EV chargers available to neighbours and the wider public, boosting access to charging infrastructure in residential areas. EasyGo was established in 2018 in response to the growing need for accessible and reliable EV charging infrastructure across Ireland, extending beyond major urban centres. The company's growth is underpinned by strong financial backing, including a €30 million investment raised in 2023 through Rubicon Capital Advisors from Aviva Investors. EasyGo CEO Ollie Chatten said: "This is a major milestone in our mission to make EV charging available everywhere - not just in cities, but in the rural towns and local clubs that are the backbone of Irish communities. It builds on our shared charging pilot and our international expansion, and shows how Irish innovation can lead the way in sustainable transport. Sports clubs are more than places to practice or watch a match - they're where people gather and connect. By bringing charging infrastructure to these spaces, we're making it easier for families, supporters and volunteers to choose electric, every day" Patrick "Bonner" Maher, Key Account Manager at EasyGo and former Tipperary senior hurler, said: "Growing up with my club, Lorrha-Dorrha, I know how important clubs are to communities, especially in rural areas. This initiative is about more than just EV chargers, it's about supporting clubs like mine and making sustainable transport accessible to everyone who relies on them." See more stories here. Josh Sigurdson reports on the overall agenda being manufactured in the face of natural disasters worldwide as insurance companies face record high losses following storms in Texas, North Carolina and following 41,000 wildfires in the United States alone this year. With insurance companies failing, it makes sense to assume that the government will be stepping in to "fund" relief, but is this just part of an overall agenda to seize private property so you "own nothing" as the WEF says? It takes a disaster often to bring in a false solution which leads to less freedom. With these natural disasters, it's interesting that we are also seeing the collapse of the grid, including the largest grid in the United States as it is strained to keep up with the massive AI data centers being rolled out by President Trump. Electricity bills are also going sky high at the moment and conveniently (for all the wrong reasons), carbon trackers are being implemented on people's bank accounts. As eminent domain snatches up properties in the face of disaster and grids and supply chains implode, it's interesting that simultaneously, digital IDs and CBDCs are being rolled out across the board as well as government run grocery stores and AI governance rules. In this episode of our podcast series, The AI Workplace, Sam Sedaei (associate, Chicago) is joined by Cécile Martin (partner, Paris) to discuss a landmark French court case on the a company's pilot implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) tools on select employees. The Nanterre Court of Justice ruled that deploying AI tool applications in an experimental or pilot phase required prior consultation with the works council due to significant employee interaction with the project. Cécile and Sam highlight the importance of assessing the scope of AI tool experimentation, including how many employees will be trained on and allowed to use AI tools, to determine whether works council consultation is required. Cécile also provides a general overview of the types of works councils in France, their powers, and the circumstances under which employers must inform and consult the councils.
