You can listen to the full conversation here: "Emma Grede Disease" & The Trap For Female Founders There's finally a name for the "Emma Grede-ification" of female founders, and it's "Emma Grede Disease" — the expectation that women don't just run a business, they have to perform running one. Private jets. Book deals. A personal brand polished to a mirror shine. Holly has a theory on who's actually earned that aesthetic — and who's skipping straight to the penthouse without building the fifteen years underneath it. Amy Shark doesn't know how ended up here. Before the ARIA Awards, the platinum records and sold-out tours, there were years of cover gigs, day jobs, rejected demos and wondering whether it was finally time to give up. She came within days of walking away from music altogether before one song, Adore, changed everything. In this episode of No Filter, Amy joins Kate Langbroek for a deeply personal conversation about the fifteen years it took to become an 'overnight success', why she believes the universe had other plans for her, and what fame actually looks like once you've achieved everything you thought you wanted. She talks about growing up on the Gold Coast with young parents, the grandmother who believed in her before anyone else did, falling in love with her husband and manager Shane, navigating marriage inside the music industry, and the burnout that left her feeling as though she had nothing left to give. Amy also reflects on finding joy in songwriting again, making her fourth album Soft Pop, and why she's finally learnt that success isn't about constantly chasing the next milestone. This is a conversation about perseverance, creativity, love, grief and what happens when the dream you've spent your whole life chasing finally comes true. Amy Shark's new album Soft Pop is out now. There was SO much to say about Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey that we couldn't fit it into one episode — we tried, we failed miserably, and honestly we're thrilled about it, so you're getting a two-parter.This is Part 1, where we set sail into the three-hour epic everyone's been waiting for. We get into the Trojan Horse reimagining that traces back to the Troy movie Nolan never made, and the brutal sacrifice that recontextualises the whole opening. We defend the Cyclops (hear us out — on a rewatch, he's the victim). We break down the slow, skin-crawling transformation scene that out-brutals every battle. And we get into why the first woman to translate The Odyssey, absolutely hates this film — the missing sex, the grim food, all of it. It's epic, brutal and occasionally unhinged. Two of its young stars share a very tangled family history, because their parents were once one of Hollywood's great fairytale romances — and reporters on the red carpet made them squirm over it.Plus, a fresh first look at a bold new take on an icon, with two very different actresses stepping into the same legendary shoes.TAKE THE SPILL QUIZ HERETHE END BITS Find and follow us on socials: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thespillpodcast/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thespillpod Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thespillpodcast/ Read all the latest entertainment news on Mamamia: https://mamamia.com.au/entertainment/Support Independent Women’s Media. We're deep diving into how one half is a giddy 'wife guy' and the other is dodging every question with surgical precision, and what it reveals about keeping a marriage secret in plain sight.Plus, the pop culture collision we can't stop obsessing over: a beloved author, a famous former friend, and a new novel so thinly veiled that Hollywood and the New York literary scene are equally scandalised. Rosie O’Donnell has lived almost every version of life in the spotlight. From her breakout in Hollywood alongside Tom Hanks and Madonna, to her groundbreaking daytime talk show that redefined television, Rosie was one of the most famous women in America. But with fame came ridicule, public feuds, and moments that cut deeply. She’s been celebrated, mocked, and at times turned into the punchline of her own story. And one of the most painful moments came when Ellen DeGeneres told the world they weren’t friends. In this conversation, Rosie is raw, funny and reflective. She speaks about growing up in the shadow of losing her mother, her shy first attempts at romance, the highs and lows of talk show success, and the very public feuds that made headlines. She shares what it was like to be blindsided by Ellen’s rejection, and why that moment stayed with her. And yes, she even talks about her recent return to our screens in And Just Like That. Rosie O’Donnell has lived a big, messy, fascinating life — and in this episode, she tells it all. Plus the reason every kid is now singing about Eastern Rosellas (and you will be too). Spare a thought for the Western Rosellas, won’t you. They were there. Missed your weekly dose of health news? In What The Health, GP Dr Ginni Mansberg and comedian Cath Mahoney are unpacking the stories everyone’s talking about—from why HRT patches are still hard to find and what alternatives are finally arriving, to the simple strength training “sweet spot” linked to a longer, healthier life. They’re also getting to the bottom of a viral TikTok trend: can testosterone cream really give you better skin, or is it a recipe for breakouts and unwanted hair? In Are You Well?, Dr Ginni reveals how much water women actually need, why dehydration can leave you feeling flat and foggy, and the warning signs of pre-diabetes that many people miss. And in Asking for a Friend, she answers your real-life questions—from spotting with Mirena to unexpected odours and whether perimenopausal brain fog is normal or something more serious. So Out Loud host Clare Stephens has had her baby boy, and no, she didn’t take up any of Em’s name suggestions but yes, she has called into the show from the hospital with a birth update. Also, for a while there they were Australia’s Beckhams. Now the next generation of Hewitts - Lleyton and Bec’s kids - are… playing at Wimbledon? Lena Dunham has shaken off Famesickess to master the comeback. But what does that have to do with Jack Antonoff’s recent split? Where is Taylor’s wedding dress? There’s a theory, and it’s around the number 13. Also, the silliest husband in the world did not RSVP to his family invite. People are paying to get together and… do absolutely nothing. And, yes, Prince Harry went over to his Dad’s for a historic cup of tea.. Outlouders, enjoy this free taster of Mia Freedman, Holly Wainwright & Emily Vernem on our subscriber-only episode. You can listen to the full conversation here: Harry’s Trauma Response & Breastfeeding At 49 It is a big day of scurrilous gossip on today's subscriber episode as Mia, Holly, and Em try to understand why our favourite celebrities simply refuse to stop doing things. First up, as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce wrap up their honeymoon, the media has pivot-scrolled to their massive, allegedly 40-page prenup. We unpack the rumoured 40-page blueprint designed to bulletproof Taylor's multi-billion dollar empire, and why young couples are suddenly completely obsessed with the "postnup." Plus, the absolute storm of chaos surrounding Prince Harry's trip to London has just taken its messiest turn yet with a brutal, peak-petty Buckingham Palace RSVP rejection that has us questioning what is really going on behind the scenes. And, Australian actress Melissa George just dropped a surprise photo casually breastfeeding her newborn child at a Paris cafe at 49 years old. We discuss. On the Eighth Day of JOURNOS, we unpack Brandon's first conspiracy: the secret marketing machinations that produce the Color of the Year. This year, a hitch: most of the colors were basically the same riff on greenish-gray. With this crack in the facade, Stephen & Brandon discuss the terrible power of the true palette-masters over at the Pantone Color Institute, which exercises considerable sway over the design and marketing choices of all sorts of brands. Pantone's Color of the Year? A sick purp called "Very Peri!" Pantone's choice, as well as all those near-identical green-grays, was inspired this year by the psychological effects of a single ongoing event: the pandemic. The colors are meant to soothe and to inspire creativity (and per Brandon, to continue to exercise control over our built reality). All this talk of the pandemic and mood got us thinking about a New York Times piece on the "boring pandemic" and the "mood of 2021." So we decide to kick off the year by announcing our own JOURNOS Color of 2022.  Listen and learn, but don't doubt: It's the perfect shade for your tinfoil hat.

Deep dive: In Episode 17 we touched on leak detection from the water meter. Let's get a little deeper on how to determine where the leak may be. Amy shares that there was an electronic alert from the water meter sent to the water company due to usage detected every hour for a seven day period. Usage was up as well.  How to determine if there is a leak - find the water meter. Clean off the glass. Typically two indicators and numbers. Low flow indicator will spin quickly when water is flowing. Turn the water on in the house and note the movement of the indicators. Turn off all faucets and water using appliances, note the position of the indicators. If you notice movement immediately there may be a large amount of water loss. Wait 20-30 minutes and note the position the indicators. If they have moved then there is a likely leak. Also a significant increase in your water bill or usage noted on your bill is another indication. Toilet leak test using dye in the tank. If dye flows into the bowl after a period of 20 minutes or so, the flapper is the ulprit. Color update: Pantone Color of the Year  "Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude." Questions   What do I use for slippery/icy deck and stairs? Coconut mats When I turn off the water to drain and clean the toilet my hand comes back wet. What would cause water to,leak by the shut off valve? Leaking valve through the valve packing, condensate from toilet tank or connection to fill valve under the tank. Dry well and check the blue shop towel.

Irgendwie muss man ja anfangen. 潘通发布2022年度色彩:仙女紫 | Pantone Unveils Color of the Year for 2022While many of us will spend the final days of 2021 reflecting on its whirlwind events, global color authority Pantone has already been busy looking ahead -- to decide on the shade that will best encapsulate 2022.2021年到了尾声,许多人都在回顾过去一年接踵而至的纷繁事件,全球色彩权威机构潘通却早已开始展望未来,决定出最能代表2022年的颜色。On Wednesday it unveiled Very Peri, a periwinkle hue that the company says combines the steady tranquility of blue with an energetic infusion of red. It's the first time the company has manufactured a color instead of delving into their pre-existing archive.12月8日,潘通发布了2022年度色彩,仙女紫。 "It was really important for us to come up with a new color, because we have a very new vision of the world now," said Pantone Color Institute's Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman in a video call. It is literally the happiest and the warmest of all the blue hues," she added, describing the shade. "Because of that red undertone, it introduces an empowering feeling of newness, and newness is what we're looking for." The pandemic has heavily impacted how we normally live and work -- posing obstacles that have forced people to think outside the box. We've gone through so many challenges over this time, we don't know what's going to pop up from one day to the next," said Pantone's vice president Laurie Pressman, who was also on the call. "It's curiosity that's helping people to get through these difficult times. What we would call courageous creativity." The color symbolizes the future," Eiseman adds. "(It) has that sprightly, joyous attitude that we're talking about, that carefree confidence, and creative spirit." Each year, Pantone attempts to interpret the zeitgeist through the lens of color theory -- mining the likes of fashion, design and interiors for clues. And it's no stranger to making unconventional picks: In 2016, the company chose a gradient made out of two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity, to reflect a year defined by shifting gender politics. In 2020, not one but two colors -- Ultimate Gray and Illuminating (a vibrant yellow) -- were selected to capture both the resilience and optimism shown during the first year of the pandemic. The annual task of forecasting the color that will best reflect the year ahead has been a more than 20-year endeavor, beginning as a desire to cultivate conversations around the power of color, says Eiseman. We first did color of the year to get people talking about (the role of) color," she said. "And once you get them talking about it, you then create a buzz and the realization hits them: color is such an integral part of our everyday lives, but we take it for granted." 的权;增加(某人的)自主权;使控制局势zeitgeist英 [ˈzaɪtɡaɪst];美[ˈzaɪtɡaɪst] n.
