After a month of Resident Evil games we decided we couldn't get enough and opened it up for some more - along with everything else coinciding with Capcom! Yes it's our first (I think?) episode dedicated to a specific developer, and Capcom is a great start. We've also got some other Capcom games to discuss like Super Puzzle Fighter 2, Marvel Vs Capcom, a bunch of Mega Man games, Resident Evil 8 - and more! We've also got some general banter about Capcom's place in the industry and some Capcom trivia - it's a packed episode! So grab your Mega Buster and your headphones and join us - for this look at Capcom games!Got any specific developers you think we should cover next? Send us an email at beatofthemonth@gmail.com.!

Nine years. 213 episodes. Dallas and Celeste are marking Comm Talk's anniversary by looking back at how it all started — including a hosting disaster that nearly wiped out the first 13 episodes of the show. Plus, Free Comic Book Day just happened, and it's not quite what it used to be. Dallas and Celeste break down the books they picked up — from Mega Man and Street Fighter to Avatar Legends and a Webtoon crossover into print — and dig into what's actually going on with comic distribution right now. What's been the best part of nine years? What almost broke the show early on? And what do you want to hear more of? Tune in — and let them know.

Just roaming the isles and looking at cover art was a joy in and of itself. There was no way to have a bad weekend when you went home with Fievel Goes West, Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle, and a bottle of Yoo-Hoo. If I had to guess I'd say my most rented games were Ducktales and A Link to the Past. I inherited a copy of Back to the Future II & III for the NES from a friend that passed that still has rental sticker on it from the gas station. I'll never get rid of it. When I was a kid video games were always a side thing we did on the weekends and typically it was a sleep over. so friday evening my buddies and i would ride our bikes down to the local blockbuster and rented a couple games then hit up the local store for sodas and pizza before going back to my place and playing an all nighter. Typically it was stuff like 007, mario kart, perfect dark nfl blitz and such. Xomber — 4/19/2026 10:01 AMSunday, April 19, 2026 10:01 AM My first rentals were N64 games as well. I think they forced me to get better at the games, since I knew I had to give them back or some such. I remember being unable to finish OOT the first time(couldn't get out of the forest) and the second time I made it to the Water Temple. After that, I was good at the game I think. Eric Plunk [nDAD], nDAD — 4/19/2026 11:07 AMSunday, April 19, 2026 11:07 AM I don't have many memories of renting N64 games other than Paper Mario from Blockbuster which I beat in two 5-day rental periods (edited)Sunday, April 19, 2026 11:08 AM @Solo Growing up I would rent from one, not sure if it was across the nation in the 80's, that was called National Home Video. I would rent NES games weekly as games back then were pricey so parents only bought me like 4. Point being here that one time we went out of town for 2 weeks to Myrtle Beach vacation. When we got back my parents laughed as the recording had a message from the store asking if I was ok as they have not heard from me wanting to know what game to reserve for me to make sure it was not rented out before me. Your Wallet's Defense Attorney — 4/19/2026 4:08 PMSunday, April 19, 2026 4:08 PM I never rented. But I did take some games out at the library. The only one I really remember is Super Mario Galaxy. I remember erasing my save file for the next person, because I was under the impression it was stored on the disc... DoubleD — 4/19/2026 5:46 PMSunday, April 19, 2026 5:46 PM Renting movies and games was a regular occurrence in my house growing up, probably every other weekend or so. We rented games mainly from NES, SNES, and N64, but I have the fondest memories of the SNES era. I remember renting Final Fantasy 3 for a couple weeks when it first released, knowing full well that I was about to get it for my birthday a couple months afterwards. Well, I got to a point in the game where it seems like it's the end, but it's really just the mid-point, but I remember being so mad thinking I was about to beat the game right before I get it for my birthday. After opening up the second half of the game, I was so happy that there was more to it, that I stupidly rented the game for another week, but still didn't beat it. I then got it for my birthday and tried to trade my copy for the rental store's, but they wouldn't do it, so I spent the entire Christmas break playing through my new copy and beat it in 2 weeks. 2026 Show Notes Addendum: To round out our second (and final) visit to the realm of backwards VGM (and very closely related non-VGM) on Nerd Noise Radio, let's replay the 2020 original series, which was also a two-parter, but instead of being two "equal billing" parts, it was a one part "episode proper" and then a supplemental Ch F "F-isode" bonus. In addition to being one of my all-time favorite projects to work on in show history, the series also marked an important turning point in show history as the first installment was our last ever NNR broadcast on the main feed to be produced in GarageBand on MacOS (except for the deliberate call-back that was C1E75 in 2023), and the F-isode was my first ever production in Audacity and Ardour in Linux (then Ubuntu Studio (KDE), now, Fedora (GNOME)). Original Show Notes below are largely faithful to the original with one MASSIVE exception: the tracklist is now populated with all the relevant track info, where it was originally withheld to keep the mystery and mystique alive. Lastly: in case anyone is wondering what on earth is happening in the outro: I figured since it would be backwards, and nobody would ever hear it forward unless they either took the initiative to reverse the file themselves, or else find the [quote] "UNBACKED" version on Archive.org, they'd never know what on earth was being said, I decided to forego the standard outro script, and just go nuts. I read a chocolate chip cookie recipe I found online on the spot, and included snippets from every previous episode blooper reel in show history to that point as well as various other sound clips, such as slow-mo vids of my kids, and fresh snippets provided by my brother-in-law Brian Peterson. Anyway, that's what's happening in the outro. I wanted it to be as preposterous and baffling and chaotic as possible! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Original Show Notes (modified to show track names on 04/20/2026): ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Today's broadcast is C1E52 for Wayback Wednesday, April 1st, 2020. It's April 1st, dear listeners, and we haven't had a retrospective in AGES! In such dark, uncertain days as we face today, it's extra important to have a look back at brighter, clearer, saner days as a reminder that as the wheel of time continues to churn, we will inexorably find our way back. So, sit back and relax as we travel back through 2hrs 25min, and 56 sec of Nerd Noise History and Nostalgia on a program we're calling “Backtracks”. It's 1993. Video games are the newest form of entertainment. The landscape already has cartoons of Super Mario Bros., Sonic the Hedgehog, and the Mega Man cartoon will bow in the following year. What other video game characters have the popularity to drive a cartoon? Bubsy?! A pilot aired around Thanksgiving 1993. What could possibly go wrong? What COULDN'T go wrong?
Certain logos instill a sense of wonder and comfort the instant they shimmer onto the screens of our games. The branding of something like the Konami bacon strips or neon-styled letters of SEGA getting shouted out through the speakers invokes a fuzzy feeling of what’s to come. One logo, in particular, carries such weight behind its presence that the moment you hear a certain jingle ringing, you know the blue-and-yellow juggernaut has arrived, accompanied by its trademark chime. After 40 years, Capcom remains a titan in the video game industry, commanding a plethora of software that has defined the medium, with several iconic video games that have made the Japanese video game developer and publisher a veritable household name among consumers and insiders alike. So what’s a dumb Video Game Podcast to do but to try and hash out a casual “Best of” list from Capcom across forty years' worth of hardware? Well, we can’t help but give it the ol’ college try! Longtime friend of the show, Rob Rich of Unwinnable Magazine, joins George and Andrew to do a roundtable discussion of which Capcom games are the cream of the crop for their respective platforms of the era since the company’s inception in 1984. One HUGE caveat, though—the gang was restricted from choosing any MAIN-LINE entries (meaning that spin-off titles are eligible for nomination) from the following series: Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Ace Attorney, or Monster Hunter. Needless to say, it made for one helluva chop-up of podcast, and the crew still found time to talk about other shit too, like the difference between saying Happy Easter or Happy Resurrection, and the Toby Fox translation drama for Undertale and Deltarune. We hope y’all enjoy this episode, as we’d love to apply this social experiment to other companies for future shows! There was something truly mystical about the NES era. Video games were resurgent, rapidly increasing their mindshare with the assistance of an excited public. In short, people were so eager to play along (pardon the pun), that when The Wizard came along -- a film ostensibly designed to help sell Super Mario Bros. 3 in western markets -- no one really cared that it was a glorified advertisement. Chock-full of endless nostalgia and a barrage of late '80s staples like Double Dragon, Zelda 2, Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man 2, and Mario 2, The Wizard is frankly a must-watch. And we're very pleased to cover it here on KnockBack, as we reflect on the life and times of Fred Savage, the epic nothingness of the Power Glove, Real Life's seminal new wave classic Send Me An Angel, and absentee parenting so staggering that "it's 10 O'Clock, do you know where your children are?" seems quaint by comparison. Without further delay, let's head back to the Nintendo glory years, shall we? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
If someone approached you and said what if we combined Megaman and Puzzle league into a game, what would it make? Well now we know what kind of game this would make. A game that shouldn't work, but somehow was super fun and also super challenging. This was a super strange DS game that I am happy was brought into my lap. Due to my fellow friend, bringing this to my attention, we have an episode I bet you never expected. Starring Mike Albertin, and Vincent Goodwin. Over the last few weeks, we've discussed 3 games starring 3 iconic characters, but in a different context from what made them famous - games that we have been referring to as "spinoffs". First we discussed PAC Man moving into a platformer in PAC Man World: Re PAC. Then we saw Mega Man moving into a 3D action adventure game in Mega Man Legends. And finally, Fox McCloud ditched his famous Arwing to star in a 3D adventure game, Star Fox Adventures. Today, we compare these games against one another and declare a winner.Let us know which is your favorite by dropping a comment on one of our social media platforms.Follow us onX @BrosBossBattlesYouTube @BrosBossBattlesInstagram @BrosBossBattleshttps://brothersandbossbattles.com/

This was the one that introduced by the Mega Buster and Eddie. Eddie is great, but the Mega Buster is a little more...controversial. I don't know anyone that HATES it, but there's a group of Mega Man fans that prefer to play WITH it, and a group (that I'm part of) that prefer to play without it. whether you like the big buster or not, it doesn't take away from the fact that the Mega Man team was on their game in these days, and I think most would consider MM4 a classic game and valuable member of the NES 6.The Dr. Light to my Dr. Wily, Dan from Dissect That Film returns to this week to talk Mega Manning.
