My guiding north star when I was a therapist working with kids (and grown-ups) was always helping them not just get to know their brain and how it works, but actually to develop a relationship with the parts of themselves that seemed to always be getting into trouble. It's not really just brain facts that are helpful to kids. Teaching them about their brain creates the possibility that they can develop a new relationship with their brain- and that's where the real magic starts to happen. In this episode you'll learn:Why understanding your kid's brain matters less than helping them build an actual relationship with it — one held by compassion and curiosity instead of judgmentWhat integration of consciousness and state integration mean, and why flexibility between an owl, watchdog, and possum state (or whatever your family calls them) is the real marker of changeWhy modeling this with your own watchdog and possum first gives your kid permission to risk doing the sameI'm teaching a live webinar on how to actually do this with your own kids on September 8 — and if you're already part of The Club, it's included, no extra registration needed.Resources mentioned in this podcast:Online Training! Join us as we explore the worldwide phenomenon behind the revival of Homer's 3000-year-old story, the kaleidoscopic and hallucinogenic return of Odysseus to Ithaka, the Greek island that has become an icon for home itself. There is the immense beauty of the poem itself and the historical importance of Homer's accomplishment, but what does the story mean to us now, how can it help illuminate the chaos of our lives today? Composed by the Poet Known as Homer, around 650 BC, it was based on a story about the Trojan War that was already hundreds of years old. Since then, the story about the hallucinogenic adventures of Odysseus, his son Telemachus, and wife Penelope have cast a spell over cultures around the world, haunting poets, playwrights and philosophers, and taunting the efforts of archaeologists, linguists and now filmmakers to render it in modern terms. Our conversation will explore the myriad life lessons of Homer's masterpiece that have inspired readers, listeners and now viewers for millennia, with a focus on the central theme of the nostoi, the return stories of ancient Greek soldiers, adventurers, philosophers and scientists coming home, and the wider question of what home meant to the ancients—and what home means to us now, the most rootless people in recorded history. Along the way, we will have an animated exchange about the wide range of translations, from Alexander Pope, T. E. Lawrence, and E. V. Rieu, to Richard Lattimore, Emily Wilson and Daniel Mendelosohn. Finally, we will playfully review the myriad movie versions, from George Melies' four-minute version in 1905, to the 1956 Ulysses with Kirk Douglas, and the freshly minted Odyssey helmed by Christopher Nolan. Finally, there is the surprising realization that it is five female characters (Penelope, Athena, Calypso, Circe and Nausicaa) who helped guide Odysseus homeward, and the centuries-long influence on art, literature and cinema. Join us for a celebration of the soul-saving power of this ancient Greek tale, which sings of the aftermath of a savage war and the restoration of our hero's home, all the while insisting on need to say “yes” to life. The Last Word On Spurs panel return as two second-half goals for Newcastle United consigned us to defeat in our first home game of the new Premier League season on Saturday evening. Despite the feelgood factor of a Spurs debut for new signing Omar Marmoush and an impressive first-half performance in which we created plenty of chances but couldn't convert them into goals, the visitors struck twice in 10 minutes through Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa to make it back-to-back losses for us to open the league campaign. That made it four wins on their last five visits to N17 for Newcastle and also ensured this fixture still hasn't seen a goalless draw in the 63 times it has been played in the Premier League. We discuss what has contributed to Spurs' poor start to the season and why the Club continue to look so under-prepared in comparison to our Premier League rivals. We debate whether a genuine number nine or a number 10 is what would help us as we go into the final days of the window, with Cody Gakpo choosing to go to Manchester City, are Spurs in a position to pivot to other options with suggestions that Everton's Iliman Ndiaye is a prime target to complete their summer squad overhaul, with possibly heading back to Everton. We reflect on what the transfer-deadline day could bring us, with De Roberto Zerbi confirming Richarlison, Pape Sarr and Kevin Danso all requesting to leave the Club before the deadline. It's also understood that Archie Gray is attracting late interest from Brentford as the transfer window nears it's final conclusion. For episode 666, Bobby dives into some of the darkest myths and wildest conspiracy theories in music history. He breaks down the legend of Robert Johnson supposedly selling his soul to the devil at the crossroads, why virtuoso musicians were once accused of being possessed, and how Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin became tied to satanic rumors. Bobby also gets into the strange theories surrounding “Hotel California,” the infamous “Paul is dead” Beatles conspiracy, backward masking hysteria, and whether there’s really anything sinister behind the 27 Club. Along the way, he separates the stories from what actually happened and looks at why people have always been so quick to connect great music with something darker. The man on trial for Tupac Shakur's murder just spent two days being confronted with his own voice. This recap covers Monday's and Tuesday's testimony — Day 5 and Day 6 — in the Duane "Keffe D" Davis trial, and the tapes jurors heard don't exactly help his case. Monday's evidence was a 2009 police interview in which Davis lays out the whole night: the search that started at Club 662, a .40 Glock he says was hidden in the car, his nephew Orlando Anderson as the triggerman, and his own insistence that the shots were aimed at Suge Knight, not at Tupac. The same day, a BET director testified Davis was paid for documentary interviews in which he called himself the only person left who could tell the true story, built in part on a sealed police recording that reached the production through consultants connected to the original case. Tuesday's tape was different — a 2017 interview where Davis says Sean "Puffy" Combs wanted Suge Knight "taken care of," and where he describes trying to call Combs after the shooting and getting nothing back. The defense objected to the recording. The judge allowed it anyway. And when Davis was finally asked whether he had anything to say to Tupac's family, the answer wasn't what anyone in that courtroom was hoping for. Combs has denied involvement and has never been charged in the case. Davis remains the only person ever charged in Tupac's 1996 murder. Two days of his own recorded words, and the story still doesn't line up. Two days of testimony, one recorded voice, and a story that keeps changing depending on who's listening. This recap combines Monday's and Tuesday's sessions — Day 5 and Day 6 — in the Duane "Keffe D" Davis murder trial, and the tapes jurors heard do a lot of the talking. On the 2009 recording, Davis tells detectives about the night Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas: the drive from Club 662, a hidden Glock, his nephew Orlando Anderson as the shooter, and his own claim that the bullets were meant for Suge Knight, not Tupac. Jurors also heard from a BET director who testified Davis was paid to sit for documentary interviews, calling himself the last man alive who could tell the real story, built partly on a sealed police tape that made its way to production through consultants connected to the original case. Tuesday's tape, recorded for Death Row Chronicles in 2017, adds a name to the story: Sean "Puffy" Combs, who Davis says wanted Suge Knight "taken care of." Davis says he called Combs after the shooting. Combs never called back. The defense fought to keep the tape out, calling it prejudicial. The judge disagreed. And when Davis was finally asked, on record, whether he had anything to say to Tupac's family, what came out of his mouth wasn't an apology. Davis remains the only person ever charged in connection with Tupac's 1996 murder. Combs has denied any involvement in the case and has never been charged. Two days, two tapes, one man's own words working against him in real time. Duane "Keffe D" Davis has told this story to cops, to cameras, and now to a jury — and depending on the day, the target changes. This is the combined recap of Monday's and Tuesday's testimony, Day 5 and Day 6, in the Tupac Shakur murder trial in Las Vegas. Monday's exhibit was a 2009 police interview: Davis describing a hunt for Tupac that started outside Club 662, a .40 Glock pulled from a hidden compartment in the car, and his nephew Orlando Anderson firing the shots — while Davis insists, on tape, that Suge Knight was the actual target that night. Jurors also heard from the photographer who took Tupac's last photo alive, and from a BET director who testified Davis got paid for interviews where he called himself the only man left who could tell the real story — interviews built partly on a sealed police recording that reached production through consultants tied to the original investigation. Tuesday's tape moves the story forward: a 2017 recording where Davis claims Sean "Puffy" Combs wanted Suge Knight "taken care of," and says he tried reaching Combs after the shooting with no response. The defense pushed back hard on letting the jury hear it. The judge let it in. And when the moment came for Davis to say something to Tupac's family, he didn't take it. Combs has denied any role in Tupac's death and has never faced charges. Davis remains the only person charged in the 1996 killing. Two days of tape, one story that keeps shifting. The Egypt international joins former City teammate Savio in north London, following the Brazilian's £75,M move to Tottenham earlier in the week, as Spurs' summer spending rockets beyond £312M. In the latest episode of Last Word Of Spurs, we discuss Marmoush's arrival and what he brings to the Tottenham attack, while assessing an extraordinary summer of transfer activity that has also seen Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka arrive at the club. But with the transfer deadline fast approaching, the work isn't finished yet. We look at the remaining business Spurs are attempting to complete, the positions still requiring attention and, most importantly, the club's growing focus on Cody Gakpo as the Club still look to navigate a number of exits for players who are not seen as part of De Zerbi's long-term plans. With more than £300m already spent, can Tottenham Hotspur finish the window with one more statement signing, all that and so much more, in this latest episode of Last Word On Spurs. "It's such a rewarding job because you're working on things that affect your actual community. Some of the big stories are down the road from my house." When Tara Rincón was in college, she needed an internship to graduate. She was a communications major, so she decided to apply for an internship at her local news station, News 12 Long Island. Now, more than two decades later, Tara is still very happily at News 12, where she is a senior content producer. In this conversation, Tara — one of my best buds from Quinnipiac University, and a fellow journalism major / Spanish minor — talks about what her job entails, about what has kept her at News 12 for her entire adult life thus far, and about what a day in the life looks life. Tara wakes up every day at 1 AM, is at the station by 2 AM, and works until 11 AM. Then, she heads home, gets a run in, and is ready to transition to mom mode by the time her 6- and 9-year-old kids get home from school. SPONSOR: Oofos: The best in the recovery footwear game. Day 7 of the Duane “Keefe D” Davis Murder Trial: Tupac's Final Warning and the Shot Caller's World On Day 7 of the high-stakes murder trial of Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the man accused of orchestrating the 1996 drive-by killing of Tupac Shakur, the jury heard chilling first-hand testimony from one of the rapper's closest friends and a deep dive into the gang hierarchy that prosecutors say put Davis at the top of the chain of command. Malcolm Greenidge, better known as E.D.I. Mean of the Outlawz, took the stand under a court order after initially resisting. A childhood friend, mentor figure, and group member who called Tupac a big brother, Greenidge described riding in the caravan behind Suge Knight's BMW on the night of September 7, 1996, as the group headed toward Club 662.He watched a light-colored four-door Cadillac pull alongside the BMW. Shots erupted from the back seat. He saw an arm and a gun extend from the vehicle — the arm appearing to belong to a Black man. Horrified, he later approached the stopped BMW, only to hear the wounded Tupac warn him: “Get on the ground, they're going to shoot you.” Moments later, a police shotgun was pointed in his face. The day also featured testimony from crime scene analysts who processed the 2023 search of Davis's Henderson home, recovering production budgets, copies of Compton Street Legend, a 1996 Vibe magazine, and a scrapbook filled with contemporary newspaper clippings about Tupac's murder. A firearms technician confirmed that all seven .40-caliber casings recovered from the original crime scene were fired from the same gun, with no matches in the national ballistic database. Former Compton police gang detective Robert Ladd closed out key portions of the day by painting a clear picture of South Side Compton Crips structure. He identified Davis as a high-ranking “shot caller” and major narcotics dealer — the kind of OG who could order younger members to act and expect compliance. If Davis was in that Cadillac, Ladd testified, any shooting would have required his authorization.Timestamps:07:34 Home Search Evidence10:50 Juror Knows Witness14:25 Cartridge Case Analysis17:59 Compton Gang Expert29:19 Davis and Southside Crips2:00:46 Little Owl's Custody2:04:44 Field Cards and IdentityFor commercial free early releases, bonus episodes and more! https://www.patreon.com/exposedpodcastfilesBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/exposed-scandalous-files-of-the-elite--6073723/support.
