The World waited in great anticipation for Season 2 of one of the greatest series in the Star Wars Universe. Andor finally came back. Andor kicked Empire bottoms. The World is abundantly satisfied, especially now that The Guys are finally together in trio form to share their thoughts, and/or their feelings, about this series. And it hit all the right colorful buttons on the control panel of the ship: great actors and acting, plot surprises, clear connections to the SWU, and a show that stands firmly on its own. Hopefully Guys of a Certain Age Season 2 will rate the same. Art has obituary duty this week as everyday people in the music world remind themselves, don't worry baby. Jay shares the biggest rumor-that's-hopefully-not-a-rumor regarding the next Black Panther film. And Robbie has a plethora of geek news ranging from Dr Who (of course) to more of Les Grossman. Listen as the guys prepare to go rogue one!

Next, the boys review the first 3 episodes of the Ironheart series on Disney+. Does this show that was filmed over 2 years ago measure up? News items this week include a potential new casting for the Black Panther along with news John Bernthal will be joining the next Spider-Man film in his role as The Punisher. Our "Topic of the Week" discusses the recent troubles over at Marvel Studios and what this might mean if things don't turn around soon. Erstsendung: 9. Juni 2023
Today's issue of Comicast Michael alongside Chalice Williams of Reel Movie Junkie, Bryan of the BryFy Podcast, and Sean Tajipour of Nerdtropolis rank the MCU's Multiverse Film Saga but the catch is it's one collective list done in a fantasy draft style. So each of the panelists take turns selecting films for the ranking, once a film is selected by a panelist it's locked at that slot. The group work their way up from 13th to number 1.

MASSIVE SPOILERS Director Ryan Coogler certainly has critics bending over backwards, but like Black Panther, this - the best reviewed major release so far this year - is nowhere near as good as the insane level of praise it's got. A beautifully made and totally worthy watch, but a long way shy of a masterpiece in multiple ways. The first half is done so well, I kinda wished the vampires had stayed away.
Send us a textEver wonder what it's like to cosplay so convincingly that Google mistakes you for the actual actor? This happened to our guest UwuPapi, whose M'Baku cosplay from Black Panther became so iconic that at one point, his photos appeared in search results instead of Winston Duke's.UwuPapi takes us behind the scenes of his viral moment, revealing the overwhelming experience of being unable to cross a hotel lobby without dozens of photo requests. With nearly a decade of cosplay experience, he shares the painstaking 11-month process of creating his signature costume and how that single character transformed his convention experience forever. From humble beginnings at MomoCon 2015 to becoming featured on their official poster years later, his journey illustrates both the rewards and challenges of finding unexpected fame in the cosplay community.Beyond the spotlight, we dive into the realities of serious cosplaying—planning costumes two years in advance, working with commission artists to bring characters to life, and developing the necessary thick skin to handle online criticism. UwuPapi offers candid advice for newcomers to the hobby while reflecting on representation, explaining how he deliberately chooses characters rarely portrayed by Black cosplayers. His perspective balances passion with practicality, celebrating the community's supportive aspects while acknowledging its challenges. The conversation shifts to gaming, his other passion, with discussions about upcoming Pokémon and Borderlands releases, streaming across platforms, and collective frustrations about the current state of the industry. Whether you're a cosplay enthusiast, gamer, or someone curious about creative self-expression, UwuPapi's story demonstrates how embodying fictional characters can unexpectedly shape your real-world identity.Find UwuPapi on Twitch, TikTok, and Instagram as UwuPapi760 to follow his gaming streams and upcoming cosplay projects. https://www.carolinaotakus.com/
Power of X-Men: The Greatest Comic Book Podcast in All of the Multiverse!
This is it, folks! The PSYCHIC RESCUE episode!
We think we know what a genius is: a tortured poet; rebellious scientist; monstrous artist; or a tech disruptor. You can tell what a society values by who it labels as a genius says Helen Lewis in her new book, The Genius Myth: The Dangerous Allure of Rebels, Monsters and Rule-Breakers. From Leonardo da Vinci to Elon Musk, she asks if the modern idea of genius, as a class of special people, is distorting our view of the world. With ten platinum albums Tupac Shakur was one of the stars of hip hop music when he was murdered at the age of 25. His music was very influential and his name is also associated with the legacy of Black Panther politics. In Words for My Comrades: A Political Biography of Tupac Shakur, Dean Van Nguyen argues that while much of the energy of the Black political movement was absorbed by the commercial music culture of the 1990s – Tupac's contribution lives on today. Gertrude Stein was considered a genius by some, a charlatan by others. She posed for Picasso's portrait; hosted Matisse and Hemingway in Bohemian Paris; and she dazzled American crowds on her sell-out tour for her sensational Autobiography of Alice B Toklas, a version of the relationship with her partner. Francesca Wade's new book Gertrude Stein: An Afterlife, explores the creation of the Stein myth. Presenter: Adam Rutherford Producer: Ruth Watts

**On Tuesday evening, C. Derick Varn will join us AGAIN for Macro ‘n Chill, our weekly community gathering. While listening to this episode, we will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion about Part Two. June 17th, 8 pm ET/5 pm PT Click HERE to register The second half of Steve's conversation with Derick Varn goes into the history of the socialist movement from the 1960s to the present. Derick traces some of the current factionalism back to the ideological battles between Trotsky and Stalin covered in Part One of this series. This includes the debates on ‘socialism in one country' versus international socialism. He covers further divisions within Trotskyism, the Red Scare's successful suppression of the CPUSA, and the formation of the Black Panthers. He describes the rise of Maoism, its influence on student movements in the West, and further ideological splits. Steve and Derick emphasize that historical developments are always connected to the material conditions of their time. Even the Bernie Sanders movement. They talk of the struggles intrinsic to past and present socialist organizations and reflect on the modern implications of these ideologies and the challenges of organizing under current capitalist conditions. “In the ‘Eighteenth Brumaire,' Marx talks about how all great revolutions play-act a revolutionary moment of the past. So, for him... he talked about the English Civil War and the Bible, and the French Revolution, and the Roman Empire. “We are stuck LARPing the past because we don't know what the future is.” C. Derick Varn is a poet, teacher, and political theorist. He is the host of Varn Vlog. He was a reader at Zer0 books from 2015 to 2021. He spent most of the 2010s outside the U.S. in the Republic of Korea, Mexico, and Egypt. He is the author of the poetry collections, Apocalyptics and Liberation and All the Bright Etcetera. https://varnblog.substack.com Find all his links at https://allmylinks.com/dionysuseatsyou

Legendarily hot, dry and hedonistic, the Summer of '76 burnt itself into our cultural memory as a kind of Ultimate Summer. But the record temperatures, the soul and disco classics and the sense of youth breaking free took place against a backdrop of economic collapse, political failure and barely suppressed rage. These were the Dark 70s of the Southall Riots, the Ripper and the Black Panther, police queerbashing and simmering hatreds. John L. Williams, author of Heatwave: The Summer of 1976 – Britain At Boiling Point, talks to Andrew Harrison about four months of tension that birthed punk rock, Thatcherism and a more cynical Britain. • Buy Heatwave: The Summer of 1976 through our affiliate bookshop and you'll help fund The Bunker by earning us a small commission for every sale. Her first book Black Panther Woman chronicles the life and spiritual practices of Ericka Huggins, a founding member of the Black Panther Party and the first woman to hold a leadership role within the movement. Unpacking her unlawful arrest, latent queerness, and journey from resistance warrior to revolutionary; Dr. Phillips helps close the gap on how some of the movement philosophy of the past has made its way into the current day. GET YOUR MULTIVERSE NEWS MERCH HERE:https://multiverse-news-shop.fourthwall.com/Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesDuring a recent appearance on Carmelo Antony's 7 PM in Brooklyn Podcast, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler reignited speculation that Denzel Washington is set to play a pivotal role in the third film of his socially thoughtful superhero franchise. When questioned about Washington's prior claims that Coogler was developing the film with a role intended for him specifically, the director confirmed them, saying, “there's no fiction out there about that”. In unrelated, but still Marvel news, tickets for The Fantastic Four: First Steps went on sale last week, crashing several major theaters online ticketing services and accompanied by a new trailer that appears to show us our first look at Franklin Richards. On the TV side of things, per Deadline sources, Schitt's Creek actor Emily Hampshire has joined the cast of the upcoming Vision Disney Plus series as E.D.I.T.H., the artificial intelligence that appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home. And finally, a second trailer for Ironheart was released on Monday.Late last week, Superman director and DC Studios co-head, James Gunn took to social media, as he is want to do, to announce and celebrate the completion of the film's final visual effects shot, with which he claimed the film to be 100% done ahead of its July 11 release. In the wake of that announcement Gunn took the opportunity to address fan questions surrounding the film's runtime, which he confirmed to be 2 hours and 9 minutes including credits and post credit scenes, while also kiboshing any speculation that Warner Bros had forced a shorter, mandated runtime, saying there was zero truth to it and that Warner Bros could not have interfered even if they wanted to, as it's a DC Studios film. All of this is compounded by rumors that DC Studios will not be focusing on any of their films at SDCC and Gunn's cagey Entertainment Weekly interview from earlier today where he claimed the DCU's Wonder Woman film is being written as we speak.Time for another good old fashioned trailer park, featuring the highly anticipated follow-up to last year's breakout hit, Wicked: For Good, whose first trailer garnered 113 million views in its first 24 hours – and our first full length trailer for Noah Hawley's upcoming FX series, Alien: Earth, which also announced the series for an August 12 premiereMarvel Animation premiered the first episode of the Disney Plus series Eyes of Wakanda during a panel at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, Monday morning. During the panel we learned from director Todd Harris the show will be “anthology-adjacent” and will consist of four episodes.Mia Goth has joined Ryan Gosling in Star Wars: Starfighter, the feature from director Shawn Levy. Although casting details are scarce at the moment, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that she will be playing a villain. HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series has announced nine actors playing key roles for its first season tackling Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The added cast includes Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, will reprise the role on Broadway. Felton will join the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway starting Nov. 11, for a 19-week engagement through March 22, 2026. A VR game based on Marvel's Deadpool franchise is set to launch later this year from Meta Quest with Neil Patrick Harris voicing the Merc with a Mouth. The game will launch sometime later this year.

Compilation Episode with 30 extra minutes of new updates on the Tupac Shakur Murder case. The Boys takes listeners deep into the life, legacy, and mysterious death of one of music's most influential figures—Tupac Shakur. From his early beginnings as the son of Black Panther activists, to his rise as a groundbreaking rapper, actor, and cultural icon, the episode explores Tupac's complex world and the forces that shaped it.The hosts walk through the major chapters of Tupac's life: his early poetry and political influences, the breakout success of 2Pacalypse Now, and the turbulent years that followed as he became both a voice for the streets and a controversial figure embroiled in legal battles and media attention. His intense rivalry with the East Coast scene, particularly with Bad Boy Records, is examined in detail, along with the environment of tension and violence that built up around him.Listeners are then taken step-by-step through the night of Tupac's murder in Las Vegas—September 7, 1996. The timeline is broken down, evidence reviewed, and the many conspiracy theories are discussed. Was Tupac's death the result of an East Coast-West Coast feud? A gang-related retaliation? Was there police or government involvement? Or could Tupac have staged his own disappearance? Finally, this episode includes a brand-new, 30-minute update covering the latest developments in the case: the 2023 arrest of Duane “Keefe” Davis, a longtime figure in the investigation. The hosts explore what this major break could mean and whether it will finally provide answers to a mystery that has fascinated the world for nearly three decades.www.patreon.com/theconspiracypodcast

It's just absurd that Elon Musk and Donald Trump are having a very public fight but I guess this is what you get when you try to keep a couple whales in your farm pond. Let's hope this cools off quickly. Missouri politicians take a victory lap all day long Thursday as they are now totally convinced the Chiefs and Royals are staying in the Show Me state. North Kansas City wants to party and they are willing to pay you $400 to do it. The new Black Panther is white in Marvel Comic's new series. A straight Ohio woman wins a SCOTUS case against her gay boss with a 9-0 decision. This is huge. In sports, the Royals split a double header but should have won both. Manager Q and Cole Ragans have awful days but several players did not. Aaron Rodgers signs with the Steelers, the NBA Finals begin with a buzzer beating shocker and your song of the week is an ode to great Americans.

The global economy is in a tumultuous state, inflation has carved away everyone's purchasing power, and prices are almost universally going up. So naturally, PlayStation will follow suit and jack its rates up too, right? Well, no. Instead, they're doing the exact opposite of what seems natural: For their annual, weeks-long Days of Play sales event, Sony has slashed prices on PS5 and PS5 Pro, PSVR2 and DualSense, and even DualSense Edge and the Access controller. Is Sony's boldness in risking economic erosion worth it? Is its strategy simply to put its boot on Xbox's neck once and for all? We discuss. Plus: If all went according to plan, The Order: 1886 would have gotten two sequels, EA cancels its Black Panther project while shutting down the studio behind it, Build A Rocket Boy suggests there may be a paid, organized campaign against its upcoming title MindsEye, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! What does Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's success mean for the future of global JRPGs?
