How do you find the confidence to get on your metaphoric stage? Dancing with the Stars' Cheryl Burke shares how she finds her confidence and courage and why putting herself in service of others has brought her so much success in her career. Cheryl shares about possibly hanging up her dance shoes and donning a CEO hat in her developing mental health and movement app. With over twenty-five years of dancing experience and several championship titles under her belt, twice Emmy-nominated professional dancer Cheryl Burke first discovered her love of dance at the age of 4, taking ballet lessons and performing throughout the San Francisco Bay area of California. At eleven, she discovered what would be her winning talent, ballroom dancing, and decided to hang up her ballet shoes to begin training competitively all over the world in both Ballroom International Standard and Latin styles. At age 20, Cheryl rocketed to stardom as the star of ABC's surprise hit television show, Dancing with the Stars, becoming champion twice with NFL superstar Emmitt Smith and 98 Degrees singer Drew Lachey. In 2015, Cheryl starred alongside Joe Jonas, Ciara, Nicole Scherzinger, and Marlon Wayans in NBC's I Can Do That, a variety show that challenged celebrities to live outside their comfort zones. 2016 marked Burke's return to Dancing with the Stars. Since then, she's danced alongside infamous Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, NFL Hall of Famers Terrell Owens and Ray Lewis, Telenovela actor William Levy, reality stars Rob Kardashian and Jack Osbourne, and Backstreet Boy, AJ McLean. Most recently, for her twenty-fifth appearance on the long-running program, she partnered with Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby to a third-place finish on Season 30, marking Cheryl's eighth appearance in the Finals. In 2016, Cheryl created, produced, and starred in Love on the Floor, a live stage show featuring professional dancers and Olympic and World Champion ice skaters coming together to tell a story of love and its many stages. The evocative stage show includes many forms of dance choreographed by Emmy Award-winning choreographers. Cheryl, who created and served as the show's producer alongside live event giant IMG, was joined on stage by Kristi Yamaguchi, Meryl Davis, Charlie White, and Daisuke Takahashi when the show made its worldwide premiere in June of 2016 in Tokyo, Japan where it grossed over two million dollars in ticket sales in ten sold out shows. In 2017, Cheryl took Love on the Floor back to Japan for the second time, where it again played to sold-out audiences. Cheryl made headlines in 2016 when she was cast as the replacement coach on Lifetime's long-running reality series Dance Moms. Hired to replace the legal battle embroiled and controversial Abby Lee Miller, Cheryl went toe to toe with difficult dance moms in season seven. She strived to coach the girls toward success by embracing their unique differences to become the best possible dancers that they could be. In 2020, Cheryl teamed with Backstreet Boys superstar and former DWTS partner AJ McLean to host the iHeart Radio-produced podcast Pretty Messed Up. The duo and their 3rd host Rene Elizondo, created a podcast that touched on topics ranging from reality tv to sobriety and mental health. Cheryl currently has her own podcast, Burke in the Game, with the streaming giant and top podcast-producing company, iHeartRadio. In the spring of 2008, Cheryl opened her first of several dance studios, the highly successful Cheryl Burke Dance. In early 2011 Cheryl's biography Dancing Lessons: How I Found Passion and Potential on the Dance Floor and in Life was released. The book addresses topics that shaped Cheryl throughout her life, from the childhood abuse and abusive relationships she lived through to harsh criticisms of her weight and body in her early twenties. Not limiting herself to the dance studio, in 2015, Cheryl launched her own clothing line CeeBee, a collection of activewear and workout attire featuring items that are designed to fit the active lifestyle of the average woman. In 2020, Cheryl partnered with Bailey Blue for a line of fashion face masks. The first collection included six fashionable and functional face masks inspired by the ballroom dances for which Cheryl is best known. With the success of the initial launch, the partnership expanded with Cheryl Burke Loungewear, a line of comfy, cozy, and chic pieces for the everyday woman who is always on the go. In 2008, Burke was awarded an Asian Excellence Award, and in 2010, she made a much-talked-about appearance in the music video for Ne-Yo's Camera Phone. In addition to her onscreen roles, Burke is a noted motivational speaker. Having been publicly attacked about her weight and having battled body dysmorphia her entire life, Burke often speaks at medical conferences, women's conventions, and to school-age children about self-esteem and having a healthy body image. She also speaks about being a survivor of domestic and sexual abuse. Her accomplishments in entertainment were celebrated in 2020 with an induction into the Robert Chinn Foundation's Asian Hall of Fame. Currently, in development on several unscripted television show concepts that she will also produce, Burke has turned an initial reluctance to leave the world of competitive dance to appear on television into a growing empire, which includes plans to launch Body Language - a program that will focus on the therapeutic benefits of movement, which Burke has experienced first-hand. As an avid mental health advocate, her passion is to continue sharing her story in hopes of helping others know that they are not alone. We keep on hearing Katie say that if you're not doing videos now, then you're really missing out big time!In this week's episode, our guest just supported that and explained how we can all use our camera phones to create awesome videos for your social media. Heather Hukari is a videographer for 20 years now. She studied broadcasting and communication in college and can be seen mostly running around the campus with a camera. Her first job was in advertising where she do a lot of video editing for short-form videos. In 2018, she opened her business which she called Video Service Hub in Denver, and helped local businesses, small and solo entrepreneurs, to create videos using only their camera phones. She revealed that adding a video on your homepage increases the conversion rate up to 80%. She believes that the pandemic has allowed people to realize that being raw is okay. That authenticity is way better than being perfect.Creating videos using your phone only has a slight difference from that done professionally especially if you're going to use it online. There are a lot of available editing apps that you can use to edit your videos using your phone. Heather mentioned Kinemaster as one of her favorite editing app. She clarified that if you're doing a video for online marketing then you can certainly use your camera phone, but if you're doing something for TV then you can use a professional videographer. She stressed the importance of starting with Instagram stories and reels. They are so fun, easy, and short videos to create. She said that we don't have to be all glammed-up to do this, just be ourselves, and that's what's really important. She's currently offering a course about the A to Zs of creating videos using your phone and all our listeners can enjoy a huge 25% discount when you use the code: NextStepSocial.Tune in to this very relevant episode and learn everything about videos and your camera phone. What does 'Pro' even mean to Apple anymore? If rumors are correct the triple-lens iPhone is 'Pro', but so is an iPad with a stylus, and an iMac Pro and MacBook Pro are the most powerful Macs. Does 'Pro' just mean 'best' to Apple now? Plus, the Apple Card has arrived, but I'm still waiting. Support this show and my independent work at www.patreon.com/briantong THANK YOU! Of course, anything that one values to the point of occupying the lion's share of his/her thoughts, time, talent, treasure, and energy can also be considered their idol. God will not compete with idols, nor can He bless a life that—for all intents and purposes—puts a greater value on the created than the Creator. Have our kids become the social animals that God never intended them to be? A graduate of the American Film Institute Conservatory, Jonathan Green's documentary and scripted films have screened at various domestic and international festivals including Barcelona, Cyprus, SXSW, and Cannes. His short documentary The Birth of the Camera Phone premiered on the National Geographic short film showcase and was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick. He also received a Webby Award for his two interactive short films journaling the struggle of children victimized by the African AIDS pandemic. Currently, Jonathan helms Subconscious Films, the original content banner of Conscious Minds, developing both documentary and scripted projects across multiple genres. The Risks and Rewards of Instagram and How Parents Can Navigate Them Jonathan Green's latest short film, Social Animals, explores the great influence of Instagram on the younger generation. Instagram is currently the juggernaut of the social media field, which prompted him to make it the focus of his new film. Most teenagers today were not introduced to social media and the idea of rapidly sharing pictures with each other; rather this was the world they were born into. The goal of the film is to view the ways in which Instagram can bring people together and create a community, while also exploring some of the dark areas and hidden risks of the social media giant. Bullying is one of those hidden risks that teenagers experience via Instagram, or any digital communication for that matter. There seems to be this empathetic disconnect that comes into play once someone is writing from behind a screen. Digital bullies say things to people they would never feel comfortable saying directly to that person's face. When people are cruel to each other in the real world, they have to see a person's expression and recognize the cruelty they just inflicted upon them. The digital world removes that humanitarian aspect and empowers bullies to say the cruelest things possible, without having to process the pain they inflicted on another human being. There are, of course, other dangers within Instagram, but it may not be so simple to discount the social platform as a whole. After all, direct messaging on Instagram is not all that different than texting. Instead of writing off Instagram, which is simply a tool, it may be more beneficial to instill certain virtues in teenagers that will carry through to the digital world. Even still, the innovations of Instagram and other social media are outpacing our ability as parents to decide how to manage it. It takes longer to evaluate the psychological and spiritual impact that social media is having on our kids than it does to develop and introduce new communication tools. It's for this reason that parents need to decide if, and how quickly, they want to introduce their kids to these social media platforms. Episode Highlights: An introduction to the short film, Social Animals. Why does bullying seem to come so easily across digital media? How parents can combat some of the risks associated with Instagram usage. Picture via: Pxhere

It comes down to a battle between three models: Huawei's P20 Pro, Apple's iPhone X and Samsung's Galaxy S9 Plus. Adrian picks the winner, the runner up and the also-ran, as well as a budget alternative. Adrian also looks at some of the best summer technology gadgets on the market right now, including the best new drone, portable power bank and travel camera. Adrian also asks an awkward question: should the biggest tech companies be doing more to get involved with local communities in Ireland? He looks at the cases of Google, Facebook and Apple and compares them to a time 100 years ago when giant companies like Guinness felt a deeper responsibility to helping out in the communities they operated in.

Cell phones have many advantages for a world traveler andthe obvious one is size and convenience . When I travel, there certainly is compromise in what I bring and how available that equipment is to capture what I see. A smartphone that fits in your pocket, that you can carry everywhere is a natural choice. They are not that complicated and the results are not bad for a lot of applications. And that’s why everyone is out there are taking selfies and shooting tons of content -- it’s just so darn easy to do. I am not saying it was best quality, but that's another issue that needs plenty of discussion. The beauty of a smartphone is that it's like an electronic Swiss army knife. Not only can you take still pictures, you can also shoot videos, and you can record sound. You can also make notes about your travels and find photogenic locations with maps & GPS. The apps and tools are endless. When traveling, taking all your “stuff” is always a compromise and a bother. So depending on many factors you could opt to just take a cell phone with you as your main media recorder. Friends of mine just left for a month to South Asia and all they are carrying is an iPhone and an old pocket camera. Your phone is a conduit to all your friends and family back home and you can send them updates when encountering wonderful moments in real-time. This really is the awesome thing about your cell phone, how you can connect and feel closer to people in the world. visit traveloguecreator.com to read more

With the Nokia in my pocket, we made this video to put it into a podcast. It was a gorgeous day as the sun was setting on Vancouver. Be sure to leave feedback on these vids we’ve been making with our cellphones. I know that the quality might be slightly lacking, but it’s so easy to make them. Turn around is quick and not very painful. We’ll probably keep doing little vids like this from time to time, so I hope you don’t mind seeing our faces once and a while. [Show Notes Link]Direct Download Link | | Direct download link This is a major experiment with cellphone technology to do a video podcast. Not the best quality in the world, but in a pinch, this Nokia can do some nice stuff. Leave comments and do your worst. I told you we’d do something before Christmas, and this is coming in right under the wire. We were driving around, checking out the festive lights in the area, so I had the idea to make this vid while we made our way back home from Christmas Eve gatherings. A year in review, hopes for the new year, and other various things that I can’t remember. Watch it to find out. We have Christmas things to enjoy right now. Best wishes this holiday! 🙂 Subscribe: RSS Podcast Feed Subscribe on iTunes © Copyright Creative Commons: Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0), RadioZoom (John Bollwitt)
