On this episode, Matt Amico, Partner and Co-head of the Investment Team at Turn/River Capital, walks through the growth engineering playbook his firm uses to drive returns across its software portfolio. Learn why software investing has moved past financial engineering and cost engineering—and what it takes to apply a more systematic approach to revenue today.Hear how the FVCP framework—funnels, volume, conversion and pricing—breaks revenue into discrete funnels, identifies opportunities to scale lead volume, surfaces the micro-conversion gaps worth shrinking and exposes the pricing structures that quietly leak growth. Plus, learn how to sequence investment from the easiest dollar to the hardest—from renewals and expansion to inbound, channel and outbound—and how activity-based KPIs link precursor work to the pipeline targets a team needs to hit.The information contained in this podcast is not intended to constitute, and should not be construed as, investment advice.
Richard McGirr interviews George Salas, who breaks down how he's scaled his capital raising by focusing on fund-of-funds relationships instead of relying on traditional retail investors. He explains how partnering with established capital raisers allowed him to bypass building a full marketing engine early on, accelerating growth and helping him raise over $4M. George shares how structuring deals around specific portfolios rather than blind pool funds made his offering more attractive to fund managers, especially when he lacked a long fund track record. He also dives into his process for building relationships through in-person events, refining follow-up systems, and leveraging CRM tools to stay organized. The episode wraps with actionable strategies around email marketing, investor nurturing, and scaling capital through both institutional partnerships and emerging retail channels. Will admit more recently I have been leaning more towards capital growth rather than cashflow, especially when earlier in investing journey/accumulation phase. One reason being, if working, any additional income will be taxed at your marginal tax rate, and for many doctors that's the highest tax bracket 47%.May make more sense in retirement to have focus on cashflow.Of course, cashflow management is still important- do not want too negatively geared properties to the point that you can't hold them.In this episode with BA Richard, we discuss some cashflow strategies- granny flat, duplex, unit blocks, NDIS, rooming homes. Also, we talk about some common sayings "Cashflow keeps you in the game but capital growth gets you out of the rat race"Music Credit: Bass Nation.New episode every fortnight.Send in your questions to: passiveincomedoctors[AT]gmail.comIf you are a doctor or dentist interested in property investing Australia, join my community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/315108673770810Follow me on Instagram for first peek at new content, and my day-to-day life. In this episode, Neil breaks down the exact macro and micro data points The HMO Property Co tracks to help investors identify high-growth suburbs – even if you're not ready to invest in HMOs yet. From population growth to zoning changes, rental yields to vacancy rates, this is the ultimate blueprint for investors with $80k–$250k looking to double or triple their returns in 12–36 months. If you're trying to escape the rat race or build equity to leverage into higher-yield HMO deals, this episode is your research toolkit.
Money talks... and when it flows into property, it creates serious capital growth!
When it comes to building a long-term property portfolio, one of the biggest questions investors face is whether to buy a positively geared property or a capital growth–focused property. In today's Wealth Coffee Chat, we break down the real numbers behind A-grade, B-grade and C-grade properties, explore how growth rates impact equity, borrowing power and portfolio speed, and reveal why the “safe” high-cash-flow option can actually slow your journey to financial freedom. You'll discover how long each property type takes to double in value, how quickly you can leverage into your next investment, and why an A-grade growth asset can outperform a C-grade cash-flow property by more than $2.3 million over time — even if it costs you $16 per week after tax. If your goals include wealth, choices, financial security or early retirement, this episode will help you understand which strategy gets you there faster and safer.

In this conversation, Mark Novak and Josh discuss how excessive property supply can severely hinder capital growth, the key factor that increases the value of most people's real estate assets. They compare high-supply suburbs like Zetland, Epping, and Homebush—where mass apartment developments have led to sluggish growth—with low-supply, high-demand areas like Dee Why (DY), which have seen far greater appreciation. Using RP Data, they reveal dramatic differences: DY units rose by 88% over ten years, while areas like Zetland saw only 15–20%. This disparity translates into tens or hundreds of thousands in lost equity for investors and homeowners, directly impacting future borrowing capacity and financial opportunity. They emphasize that capital growth is not just about the suburb's name or location but about how much new stock it can absorb. Desirable, lifestyle-oriented suburbs—especially coastal areas—tend to hold their value because they offer limited development opportunities and strong demand. By contrast, areas with unchecked development become oversupplied and struggle with price growth. The conversation ends with a reflection on how important it is to invest wisely in areas with constrained supply and sustained demand, alongside a light-hearted celebration of Mark's birthday and acknowledgment of his contributions to the team.

In this episode of The Business of Tech, host Dave Sobel welcomes Abraham Garver from Focus Investment Bank to discuss the current state of the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). The conversation begins with an overview of the increasing interest from private equity groups in investing in MSPs, particularly those with operational maturity and a solid EBITDA of at least $3 million. Garver highlights that while there is a significant amount of capital available, the market is experiencing a shift that favors sellers, especially as larger funds seek bigger assets.Garver explains that many smaller MSPs struggle to attract investment due to a lack of operational maturity, often relying on owner-led sales and failing to consistently add new customers. He emphasizes the importance of joining peer groups to help these smaller businesses develop the necessary skills and strategies to grow and become more attractive to investors. The discussion also touches on the challenges faced by smaller MSPs in navigating the competitive landscape, where larger players dominate the market. The episode further explores the different investment theses that private equity groups adopt when looking to invest in MSPs. Garver notes that many investors are drawn to regulated industries but often overlook the need to find unique niches that have not yet been consolidated. He stresses that both MSPs and investors must think creatively to differentiate themselves in a crowded market, as many traditional approaches have already been explored by previous investors. Finally, the conversation shifts to the dynamics of day one post-sale for MSPs and the conditions that lead to successful transitions. Garver shares insights on how to prepare for this critical phase, emphasizing the importance of having a strong management team and a clear growth strategy in place. He concludes by discussing the potential for ongoing investment cycles in the MSP space, suggesting that the market may continue to evolve with new rounds of investment rather than a singular focus on IPOs as an exit strategy.
