Escuchar audio

Killer Mike - "SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS (feat. André 3000, Future, Eryn Allen Kane)" from the 2023 album MICHAEL on Loma Vista Recordings / Concord It's been 11 years since the last solo album from Killer Mike, and his latest LP, titled Michael, is his most personal yet. Songs reflect on his childhood growing up in Atlanta, and, as he told Zane Lowe in an interview, he was also inspired by "the civil rights movement, the abolitionist movement, which gave us some of the most beautiful music ever." The album features a fantastic collection of collaborators, including CeeLo Green,Young Thug, his Run the Jewels bandmate El-P, and more. Today's Song of the Day features guest vocals from Eryn Allen Kane, and reunites Killer Mike with two members of the Dungeon Family hip-hop collective, Future and André 3000. “I've assembled a cast of some of the best artists from Atlanta and beyond,” he wrote on Instagram. “Our collective perspectives will allow you to understand the glorious story and beautiful nuances of what it's like to be a Black boy growing up in the deeply religious south, specifically the westside of Atlanta.” Read the full story at KEXP.orgSupport the show: https://www.kexp.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Midnight Hour - "Jazz Is Dead (Georgia Anne Muldrow Geemix)" from the 2021 album Remixes JID010 on Jazz Is Dead. As The Midnight Hour, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge collaborate with a long list of incredible musicians to make a fusion of soul, jazz, and hip hop that's inspired by the sophisticated sounds of yesteryears. Their acclaimed 2018 self-titled debut was star-studded featuring the likes of features from CeeLo Green, Raphael Saadiq, Marsha Ambrosius, Bilal, Eryn Allen Kane, Karolina, and more. In 2020, the duo expanded their reach by creating the imprint Jazz Is Dead, where “younger artists are elaborating upon conversations started decades ago; jazz icons are utilizing vintage equipment to create new masters with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad; the same equipment that recorded their coveted catalogs.” In the past two years, they've released 10 albums of recordings that take on the scores of composers past to bring into the present. As the final chapter in the initial run of Jazz Is Dead releases, Remixes JID010 continues the creative catharsis of an exhilarating new chapter in jazz music. Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad tapped nine iconic creators to reimagine their personal favorites from Jazz Is Dead's catalogue to-date, who created striking new versions of songs by Marcos Valle, Roy Ayers, Gary Bartz, Azymuth, João Donato, Doug Carn, Brian Jackson and The Midnight Hour. Holding the line taut like a bass string, Younge & Muhammad only invited those special musical alchemists who have previously participated in Jazz Is Dead happenings, or those who are slated to share that stage soon. Our Song of the Day sees the prolific songwriter, rapper, musician, singer, and producer Georgia Anne Muldrow take on the title track of the series and label, “Jazz Is Dead.” Muldrow's version completely reinvents the jazzy and percussion-heavy original into a slinky trip-hop track with the lyrics stretched out and lingered on in serpentine fashion. Sparkling electronic glitches and synth keys replace the brass, drums, and piano of the original, for a smooth, contemporary imagining of the song. As always, we enjoy being honest with you guys, and we talk about how we feel about the progress of the podcast. TracklistStevie Wonder - Love's In Need Of Love TodayKRS-One - Sound of da PolicePublic Enemy - Fight The PowerGil Scott-Heron - The Revolution Will Not Be TelevisedPublic Enemy - Anti-Nigger MachineJ Dilla - Fuck The PoliceMichael Kiwanuka - Black Man In A White WorldThe Five Stairsteps - O-o-h ChildKendrick Lamar - AlrightJoey Bada$$ - For My PeopleChildish Gambino - This Is AmericaPassi - Les flammes du malSyl Johnson Is It Because I'm BlackArrested Development - RevolutionKendrick Lamar - King KuntaA Tribe Called Quest - We The PeopleStevie Wonder - Black ManNas - Cops Shot The Kid feat. Welcome back to another SimplySenTalks! Today we are getting into the topic of Love and what it means to love on yourself. Also what it means to be team YOU and not be so willing to put all your issues onto other people. Talking and ranting to others is not a bad thing but just be aware of how frequent you are doing it and be conscious that, that person may be dealing with things too. Don't be so hard and critical of yourself, don't try to be in competition with your friends or compare yourself to the next person. You are YOU for a reason. Also remember being loving and caring may come easy for others and harder for some as well. So today take a moment to listen in and then do some self love reflecting and then don't forget to spread that love all around. And if you were wondering the song at the beginning it's called Still in love by Thirdstory ft. Eryn Allen Kane. The song is really beautiful and it's getting added to my playlist, go check it out!

Rejoice always, [17] pray continually, [18] give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV God calls us to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. When we do this, we are doing God's will! But too often in the midst of the chaos and stress that often come with the holidays, it can be easy to forget to slow down enough to do these simple things. That's where music can help us. Join Russ and friends as they discuss different songs that help them get in the Thanksgiving and holiday spirit, whether it's actual songs about Thanksgiving, or songs that remind us to be grateful and joyful.Check out and enjoy the "Turkey Tunes" Thanksgiving playlist discussed in this episode! If you'd like to email the show, send us a message at podcast@deepspirituality.net ReferencesThe Holiday A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood How to Stop Worrying and Start Trusting God: 15 Helpful Tips Sunday Best by Surfaces We Are Family by Sister Sledge Addicted Youth by Hemlock Ernst Home by Diana Ross Home by Michael Buble Home by Philip Philips Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros Thanksgiving Prayer by Johnny Cash Everything We Need by Kanye West New Year's Day by Taylor Swift Feel The Need by Eryn Allen Kane

On the new EP King Salomon, Salomon Faye solidifies himself as an artist to watch. With the help of rising DJ & MC Nas Leber, and the Fayetteville phenom J. Cole, King Salomon provides an audio illustration of the trials and tribulations that millennials face in the age of social media. George Orwell's infamous book 1984, sets the tone for wrestling with oppression, and so does Nas with his insight on growing up in New York, being a child of Hip Hop, DJing and how the making of his feature on the song 1984 with Salomon Faye came to light. Be sure to listen to the King Salomon EP exclusively on TIDAL starting Nov 17, featuring vocals from rising songstress Eryn Allen Kane. Production credits:
On this episode we talk to the extremely talented vocalist Eryn Allen Kane. Is vocalist the right word? Or should I say singer? I’m not sure. I think I should’ve said singer and I just wanted to sound fancier and say vocalist. They likely mean the same thing. She’s a Detroit native residing in Chicago and has collaborated with the likes of Prince and Chance the Rapper, and former WWE superstar Razor Ramon. Ok I made up the Razor Ramon part but what if she had a track with Razor? That would be crazy! In the final episode of season 1 of Eco Tones, Pat reunites with guest co-host Mike (Episode 5, Why Do Zebras Have Stripes?) to talk about social networks and behavioral studies of Anubis baboons in Laikipia, Kenya. With the help of Jessica Gunson, Molly McEntee, and Leah Worthington from the Uaso Ngiro Baboon Project, we learn about the day-to-day life of a baboon researcher, and the steps that they take to better understand the social dynamics of a baboon troop! Why is that baboon scratching the other baboon? Weren't those two with different partners yesterday? Jeez, how much polyamory happens in a troop? And why are we WATCHING it? Neither Mike nor Pat are especially skilled in any way to actually understand this topic, but we do our best to fall upwards. Episode 7 concludes our first season of Eco Tones, but we'll be back in the fall with more episodes, new talent, and and interesting discussions! In the meantime, check out the lab's ongoing work at www.thepalmerlab.com and www.savannaecology.com, and check out our previous episodes on iTunes and Soundcloud. Ian McCafferty, Tristan Jung, and Ben Goren sit down to talk about the debacle against Illinois (2:30), mononucleosis despite not ever having had it (9:31), #BMACCLUTCHGENE (14:35), tournament resume (20:52), the trash fire that is the Big Ten (29:58)and how Joe McKeown went down to the crossroads to make a deal (35:44). ** So...we did a great intro/commentary for this week's show...and it promptly decided to get lost in the technological ether. Awesome. -_- Anyway, we're recording a new one in the next day or 2 (TOO much news happened to NOT talk about, even if time has to be blocked out again) and wanted to give folks a BRAND NEW mini-music mix to hold it down for the next day or two before dropping a full FuseBox Radio 3 hour block o' goodness, so here goes an hour of tunes on deck via DJ Fusion...enjoy! :) ** FuseBox Radio Playlist + Charts for the Week of August 24, 2016 DJ Fusion Music Mix [tunes listed by artist/song title/label(s) in order] 1. This is our first Impact Investing segment of Season 2, and we plan to publish monthly. Now, I am going to be a little disruptive here to some of the impact investing conversations. While financial capital is critical in impact investing, it is certainly not the end all and be all solution. You see, a truth I have come to understand is that without people support in the form of skill building, advice, brainstorming, networking, it is almost impossible for the social enterprise to succeed. I am not saying that it can't happen. What I am saying is this: I have watched capital placed into social impact ventures over and over again for the last five years. My truth is this; the best outcomes are smaller dollar amounts put in over-time with high-powered people support to walk through the decision matrix of everyday business planning. So, my point here is that lending time and advice and people skills are just as important, if not more important than the money. The scenes have played out in front of me like Hollywood movies. With as much as I have witnessed, you would have thought I would have done a show on this earlier. Haha, sometimes it takes me a minute to realize it is an actual pattern. So, on this episode, you are going to meet Tom Doescher. Tom is a great friend and has been a council to our firm, Gingras Global, for a long time. I am so thankful. Tom and his wife, Barbara, use their financial capital to both support non-profit charities and impact investing. They have a long history of sharing their resources with others around the world. I have asked Tom, for this episode, to hone in on what impact investing means regarding giving your time and helping with skill-building and advice. You will learn that Tom's focused outcome of impact investing – whether it is his time or money – is to create and sustain jobs. He is very interested in supporting the city of Flint, Michigan, specifically. And, as a treat for any of you that may be listening that are leaving a long somewhat traditional career – thinking about transitioning to support social enterprise, he gives some great tips at the end on how to navigate that transition. Okay, let's listen in to my interview with Tom Doescher. Tom Doescher : My business background is I was a partner in a consulting firm for over 40 years and worked in the last 20 years with manufacturing in businesses, auto suppliers, and built a very substantial practice and really loved working with businesses. On a personal side, Barbara and I led over 30 mission trips all over the world and we did medical teams, construction, children's ministry, and other sundry activities so that was the other part of our life. Really as we were looking at what we call our next season, we said "What do we feel that we're being called to do?" Believe it or not we melded together our business activities with our ministry activities because really we're all about helping businesses create job. We have to have profits to have jobs, but our real focus is on creating jobs...

Akenya is a singular talent in the Chicago music community. She commands the stage like a combination of James Brown, Billie Holiday, and a hungry MC conquering a cypher. She has collaborated both with Chicago hip hop stalwarts including Chance the Rapper, Noname Gyspy, Mick Jenkins, Eryn Allen Kane, Donnie Trumpet, and the O'My’s, as well as performed alongside contemporary luminaries like Esperanza Spalding, Fred Hersch, Vijay Iyer, Jason Moran, Luciana Souza, and Dave Holland.
