Acts of the Apostles 16: 1-10; Rs psalm 100: 1-2.3.5; John 15: 18-21.BETWEEN THE HOLY SPIRIT AND EVIL SPIRIT Our meditation today has the theme: Between the HolySpirit and Evil Spirit. This reflection wants to bring our attention to twopoints of view about the spirit of life that all of us have. From the positionof the Lord Jesus Christ and all those belong to Him, the spirit that is inconstant opposition with Him is no other than the evil spirits with Satan asthe commander. Whereas, from the position of the evil spirits, theSpirit of God is their greatest enemy. The Holy Spirit sent to the world hasthe duty to animate all of us and the Church with His divine gifts. Byreceiving the sacraments and do spiritual activities, we are graced with theHoly Spirit. But this is only one side of the reality. The Satan, as indicatedin the scriptures, after not being able to conquer Jesus who fasted for 40 daysin the wilderness, he always waited for the appropriate time to tempt and conquerJesus and all those belong to Him. None of us is free from the Satan'stemptation. So, there are two opposing spirits that we alwaysencounter in this life. We never live neutral or in empty space and time. As weare alive, we certainly belong to one of them to the moment of our death. Whichspirit wins in the end depends very much on who the human person chooses toside with according to his or her free will. But there is a situation which wemay call a peaceful moment. When there is no conflict of interests, it happensthat the two spiritual powers are present and close to us. For example, when you are alone in a quiet moment inthe room. You have no evil thought and intention, and no sinful act. At thesame moment and place there is close to you the evil spirit who is ready totempt you. He is waiting for a proper time when you are out of control or youare unaware of yourself. Every single moment is so precious opportunity forSatan when we do not use it well. When that crucial moment of conflict happens,you must choose truth or evil, good or bad, right or wrong.                                                             A very important point here is that as followers ofChrist, we must be able to reject the spirit that is not in line with JesusChrist. Christ has prepared us to be able to distinguish the Holy Spirit fromthe evil spirits. He always commands us to obey to the Word of God. He says,"I chose you from this world". We belong to Jesus, so we have theability to avoid the evil spirits. This was also the experience of theapostles, Paul and Barnabas, when they did their extraordinary mission ofpreaching the Gospel. The saints are our role models for choosing the HolySpirit rather than the evil spirits. Someone who gives you advice or reminder that you mustchoose the Holy Spirit and reject the evil spirits, let it be clear to you thathe or she must be a messenger from God. As we approach the Feast of thePentecost, we should open ourselves sincerely so that the Holy Spirit is theOne who fills us with His divine gifts, and not any other spirits. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us alwayswith Your blessings so that we will be able to fight the influences of thisworld that are contrary to You. Send Your Spirit to fill us and all the face ofthe earth. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... In thename of the Father ...

He Played His Lyre, and The Evil Spirit Would Leave!1 Samuel 16:23 “Whenever the spirit from God came on Saul, David would take up his lyre and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him.”When I heard about this verse, I loved it because it shows us another example of the power of music. When David played his lyre, the evil spirit would leave Saul. Did you know that music could set you free from evil spirits? Are you starting to see the power of praise and worship? Are you starting to see the power of music and singing? Praise and playing musical instruments have been setting captives free for a very long time.God instructed Joshua to have the Israelites march around the city of Jericho once a day for six days, with priests blowing trumpets and the people remaining silent. On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times. When the priests sounded the trumpets, Joshua commanded the people to shout, and the walls of Jericho collapsed. God allowed the Israelites to take this city. (Joshua 6:1–20)God reduced Gideon's army from thousands to just three hundred men so that Israel would know the victory came from Him alone. At God's instruction, the men carried trumpets and torches instead of swords. When they blew the trumpets and shouted, God threw the Midianite army into confusion, and the enemy turned on itself. Israel won the battle without fighting by strength, showing that obedience, proclamation, and trust in God released His power. (Judges 7:1–22)When King Jehoshaphat faced a vast enemy army, he sought the Lord, and God declared that the battle belonged to Him. Jehoshaphat sent singers ahead of the army, praising God as they marched into battle. As they worshiped, the Lord caused the enemy armies to turn on one another, and Judah did not have to fight at all. The victory came through praise, revealing that worship invites God to act powerfully on behalf of His people. (2 Chronicles 20:1–30)While imprisoned in Philippi after being beaten and chained, Paul and Silas prayed and sang hymns to God in the middle of the night. As they worshiped, a sudden earthquake shook the prison, opening the doors and loosening everyone's chains. Rather than escaping, Paul and Silas remained, leading the jailer and his household to salvation. Their praise not only brought physical freedom but also opened the way for lives to be saved. (Acts 16:22–34)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood before King Nebuchadnezzar and refused to bow to the golden image, declaring their unwavering faith in God. They proclaimed that God was able to deliver them from the fiery furnace, but even if He did not, they would not worship any false god. Their words were an act of praise rooted in trust—honoring God above fear, outcome, or survival. Their worship was not expressed through song, but through bold confession of God's power and faithfulness in the face of death. (Daniel 3:16–17)I like this example because it shows us that there are many ways to praise. If you don't like music, if you don't like singing, that doesn't mean that you can't be set free by praise and worship. There are so many ways to praise the Lord. Music happens to be my favorite, and for me, one of the easiest, because if I don't know what to say, there are plenty of others who have written beautiful songs who do know what to say. However, if you don't like music or singing, don't count yourself out. You can praise the Lord with your writing, with your words said outloud. You can praise the Lord with gratitude or in the things you say to others. There isn't just one way to praise the Lord. I pray that by the end of this series, you understand that there are so many different ways to praise. There is a way for everyone.When King Hezekiah received a threatening message from the Assyrian king, he took the letter to the temple and spread it before the Lord. In prayer, Hezekiah praised God as the one true Lord over all kingdoms and asked Him to act so that all would know His power. God responded by promising deliverance, and that very night the Assyrian army was defeated without Judah having to fight a single battle. Hezekiah's prayerful praise and trust in God's sovereignty led to a decisive victory and public recognition of the Lord's supremacy. (2 Kings 19:14–37)Again, this is a different kind of praise. King Hezekiah went in front of the Lord and presented the letter from his enemies. He then praised God as the one true King and asked God for help. Do you see how easy it can be to praise the Lord at times? All it says that he did was to praise the Lord as the one true King over all kingdoms. This is why I have placed a link in the previous episode for the praise sheets that I received at my prayer group. However, you don't even need those sheets. You can simply tell the Lord how great you think He is. I tend to say, “You are the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. You are the Almighty One. We worship you. We adore you, and we glorify you.” You can say whatever it is you think about the Lord.My homework for you today is to stop and think about 5 things you can say to the Lord to praise Him. What is it you think of Him? What do you know to be true about Him? Once you have these 5 things, you can have fewer or more; I just randomly decided on 5. Once you have these, then I want you to say them every single day to the Lord. It doesn't matter when you say them, but try to say them every day and watch how your life changes. Watch how your trust in the Lord begins to grow because you are reminding yourself every day how amazing He is. If you have to ask the Lord for something, start with these few praise statements and then ask Him. Watch to see if there is any difference in the number of answered prayers, or in the way they are answered.This is just one tiny way to add more praise into your life without going overboard or taking up a lot of extra time. Just give it a try. What have you got to lose? What could you gain? Trust me, more praise and worship in your life is exactly what you need right now. I know I may not know you, but I know this is what we all need right now. We need to replace the worry and anxiety of this world with praise and worship, and we then watch our lives feel a bit easier.Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening today. Lord, I ask you to show them the power of praise and worship. I ask that you bless them with graces when they are praising you. I ask that you open their eyes to the ways that praise and worship are changing their lives. Help us to see with your eyes, Lord. Help us to notice more of you in our lives. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to Daniel McClure from Red Lion, PA. Thank you for your partnership with us through Project23. This one's for you. Our text today is Judges 9:22-25. Abimelech ruled over Israel three years. And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the leaders of Shechem, and the leaders of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech, that the violence done to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid on Abimelech their brother, who killed them, and on the men of Shechem, who strengthened his hands to kill his brothers. And the leaders of Shechem put men in ambush against him on the mountaintops, and they robbed all who passed by them along that way. And it was told to Abimelech. — Judges 9:22-25 Abimelech's reign lasted only three years. Then, the massive cracks started to show. God himself sent an “evil spirit” between Abimelech and Shechem. Suddenly, the people who once crowned him turned against him. They set ambushes, stirred rebellion, and worked betrayal behind his back. Don't be confused. This was not a random political drama—it was divine judgment. In fact, every political drama is a divine judgment. God was holding Abimelech and Shechem accountable for the murder of Gideon's sons and choosing other gods and an evil king over Him. What Jotham had forewarned was now coming true: the fire of bad leadership was beginning to consume both king and people. God will not let evil stand. Even when it looks like corruption has the upper hand, God has a way of unraveling it from the inside out. Abimelech and Shechem thought their alliance made them strong, but sin always breeds suspicion, mistrust, and division. It's only a matter of time before selfish ambition turns allies into enemies. Yet along the way, there are losses because of these bad decisions. The same is true today. Bad partnerships of any kind—whether in politics, business, friendships, or spiritual life—don't last. Why? Because they are built on self-interest, not God's truth. And sooner or later, the cracks show, and with them come gossip, ambushes, rebellion, and betrayal. Beware of the alliances you make. If they're not rooted in God's truth, they will rot from within and burn you down. ASK THIS: Where am I tempted to form alliances that are convenient but not godly? How have I seen selfish ambition create division in my life or others'? Do I trust that God will eventually bring justice to corrupt systems? How can I pursue relationships built on truth and faith instead of convenience? DO THIS: Take inventory of your closest partnerships. Ask: are these drawing me closer to God—or leading me toward compromise and division? PRAY THIS: Lord, reveal the alliances in my life that are not from You. Help me walk in truth and trust that You will unravel corruption in Your timing. Amen. PLAY THIS: "King of My Heart."

Acts 19:8-20 8 And he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. 9 But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus. 10 This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks. 11 And God was doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists undertook to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I adjure you by the Jesus whom Paul proclaims.” 14 Seven sons of a Jewish high priest named Sceva were doing this.15 But the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I recognize, but who are you?” 16 And the man in whom was the evil spirit leaped on them, mastered allof them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. 17 And this became known to all the residents of Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was extolled. 18 Also many of those who were now believers came, confessing and divulging their practices. 19 And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. Who is to blame for the redistricting farce that many fear is breaking American democracy? There's Trump, of course, and his gang of MAGA crazies. But according to David Daley, the author of Antidemocratic, Inside the Far Right's 50-Year Plot to Control American Elections, the real culprit is anything but crazy. It's John Roberts, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In a devastating 2019 decision, Daley argued in a powerful New York Times essay this week, Roberts closed federal courts to partisan gerrymandering claims just as judges from both parties were successfully policing redistricting abuses. "It's like that moment in Ghostbusters where they turn off the containment packs," Daley explains. "All the evil spirits spill out." The result? Today, 398 of 435 House districts are non-competitive, and we're witnessing what Daley calls a "redistricting apocalypse" with no end in sight. And those evil spirits aren't just on the far right, with Democratic hacks also benefitting from this out-of-control gerrymandering. What gets lost in all this, of course, is the bipartisan political center in both parties - thereby creating a political system increasingly out of touch with the kind of non-ideological voters (ie: most American citizens) whose interests John Roberts' Supreme Court is supposed to protect. 1. Chief Justice Roberts Created the Current Crisis Roberts' 2019 decision to close federal courts to partisan gerrymandering claims removed the last guardrails just as bipartisan judges were successfully policing redistricting abuses, unleashing the current "redistricting apocalypse."2. Technology Has Made Gerrymandering Permanent Modern software and voter data have transformed gerrymandering from a temporary trick into decade-long control. Districts can now be carved with surgical precision, making 398 of 435 House seats non-competitive.3. Democrats Were Caught Completely Off-Guard Despite clear warnings (Karl Rove even published the Republican strategy in the Wall Street Journal), Democrats "fell asleep" on redistricting and are now playing catch-up with far fewer opportunities to retaliate.4. The Math Doesn't Favor Democratic Counter-Gerrymandering Republicans can draw about 195 seats on their own while Democrats control only 49. Even if Democrats maximize gerrymandering in California and Illinois, Republicans have many more states where they can respond.5. The Stakes Go Beyond Elections Daley warns of "militarized voter suppression" and sees America on a "dark path" where the combination of gerrymandering, voting restrictions, and authoritarian tactics could fundamentally undermine democracy by 2026.
