On today's DolphinsTalk.com Daily Podcast Mike and Tom are back to talk about all things in the world of the Miami Dolphins. They break down and talk about the big news from Sunday that the Dolphins and superstar cornerback Xavien Howard have agreed to terms on a restructured contract to satisfy Howard and his agent for the 2021 season. Who won this battle? What did Howard get in 2021? And what does this mean next offseason and in 2022 as there is some specific language that tells us we will be back in this same spot next Feb/March. There is a report out that the Dolphins are looking for offensive tackle depth and are willing to trade for an offensive tackle. We look at some of the current talent on the Dolphins offensive line heading into this year and where does Miami need some help as of now. Plus, we talk about Sunday's training camp practice and what took place on the field. All of this and more on today's DolphinsTalk.com Daily Podcast.
Jesus said 8 times (!) in John 15 that He wants us to bear fruit. But what does that even mean? In EP112 we said that abiding is all the stuff that no one sees. Well, fruit is the stuff EVERYONE sees (and feels, and tastes, and smells) coming from you. Welcome to my Summer Replay Series! I'm rerunning a series that first aired in Feb-March 2020 on Abiding in Christ (John 15). This replay series begins with EP108 and this is Part 6--the final episode in the Abide series. Be sure to go back and listen from the beginning. The main point: Real fruit is the natural and inevitable outgrowth of a branch that is abiding in the Vine and is regularly and properly pruned by The Vinedresser. Fake Fruit: 1. Financial or Worldly Success 2. Flashy Ministry, Big Following, Popularity 3. Religiously following all the laws and rules of your Christian denomination 4. Perpetual self-improvement *We should not become professional fruit inspectors except: when we feed on other people's spiritual fruit or PUT OUR CHILDREN UNDER THE CARE OF SOMEONE. Then get all up in that fruit and fully inspect it! Real Fruit: 1. Leading people to Christ 2. Love 3. Good Works 4. Virtues of Character 5. Hearing God's voice 6. Answered prayer Don't focus on the fruit. Focus on ABIDING in Christ. Keep that connection intact and free-flowing. Submit to the pruning. The fruit WILL come. Scriptures I reference in this episode: Matthew 23:27-28 Matthew 12:33 John 15:1-17 John 13:34-35 Ephesians 2:10 James2:14-16 Colossians 1:9-12 Galatians 5:22-23 Ephesians 5:8-11 Philippians 1:9-11 Jeremiah 17:7-8 I John:3-10 II Thes 1:3 LINKS I bought my "abide" bracelet here. What does it mean when Jesus said, "Apart from me you can do nothing"? Who are these people? Are they really doing nothing? Am I one of these people? Are you one of these people? Welcome to my Summer Replay Series! I'm rerunning a series that first aired in Feb-March 2020 on Abiding in Christ (John 15). This replay series begins with EP108 and this is Part 4. Be sure to go back and listen from the beginning. Scriptures we Read in This Episode: John 15:1-17 Matthew 15:1-20 Matthew 7:15-27 I Corinthians 13:1-3 Truths about abiding in Christ: God wants your heart God wants you to obey his word God wants you to love God wants you to focus on abiding, not on bearing fruit What abiding in Christ is NOT: doing more stuff trying harder void of activity or effort Apart from Christ, you can do nothing of eternal value Apart from Christ means your heart does not belong to Jesus, though you say all the right things you hear the word of God but don't obey it you do the right things, but you do it without love for God or others LINKS I bought my "abide" bracelet here. Motherhood often feels like loss: Loss of your schedule, loss of control, loss of yourself. This can be very confusing because, as a Christian, you KNOW God has called you to live an abundant life! So, what's up with this? Are you doing something wrong? Or are you doing something right? (spoiler: you're doing something right!) Welcome to my Summer Replay Series! I'm rerunning a series that first aired in Feb-March 2020 on Abiding in Christ (John 15). In EP108 I introduced you to the series and in EP109 I introduced you to the Cast of Characters and the 5 Branches--specifically the branch in Christ that does not bear fruit. Today we are talking about pruning. If you are experiencing loss or pain in life, this may be why. Listen in. Today, we continue our Abide series based on John 15:1-17 The main points we cover: 1. Outside of harvesting itself, pruning is the single most important task for ensuring a plentiful harvest 2. The Vinedresser prunes back aggressive growth pinching topping thinning dead and dying leaves and branches suckers and shoots from the True Vine 3. Pruning is individual and personal LINKS 6 Strategies for Staying Calm When Your Child is Freaking Out I bought my "abide" bracelet here. Receive email updates from me! Welcome to my Summer Replay Series! I'm rerunning a series that first aired in Feb-March 2020 on Abiding in Christ (John 15). In EP108 I introduced you to the series If you haven't listened to that episode yet, do that first! Today I will introduce you to the Cast of Characters and the 5 Branches, but we will discuss in detail the branch in Christ that does not bear fruit. What is it? How does it get that way? What happens to it? John 15:1-6 Cast of Characters: 1. Jesus is the Vine 2 The Father is the Vinedresser/Gardener 3. We are the Branches Branch in Christ that does not bear fruit Branch in Christ that bears fruit Branch in Christ that bears more fruit Branch in Christ that bears much fruit Branch not in Christ What does the Vinedresser do to the branch in Christ that does not bear fruit? He picks it up, cleans it off, and ties it up on a trellis or a fence for air circulation for exposure to sun for full access Why does a branch not produce fruit? Not connected to the Vine--we will talk about this one in a later episode Young branch--The Father just lets you grow (The parable in Luke 13:5-9) Disease or mites--The Father will try to remove the disease (sin) from you through discipline. See Deut 8:5, Hebrews 12, Rom 8:28 Improper pruning--we will talk about this one in EP63 NOT ALL PAIN IS DISCIPLINE! Sometimes pain and suffering is because of someone else's sin! Abuse is NEVER discipline. LINKS 6 Strategies for Staying Calm When Your Child is Freaking Out I bought my "abide" bracelet here. Receive email updates from me! On our business episode this week we are going to review the 2020 Small Business Problems & Priorities by the National Federation of Independent Business. Every 4 years, the Problems and Priorities Survey asks small business owners (members of the NFIB) to evaluate 75 issues on a scale of 1 (a critical problem) to 7 (not a problem). The issues are then ranked from top to bottom by their average score. The cost of health insurance, labor, and taxes remain at the top of the latest 2020 survey. The data reflects small business owners' views 4 years into one of the largest U.S. economic expansions. This year's (2020) data was collected PRIOR to the Covid-19 health and economic situation. The survey was published in Feb/March 2020. The “cost of health insurance” remains the number 1 problem for small businesses, unchanged since 1986. “Locating qualified employees” moved up in importance from ranking 10th in 2016 to its current 2nd place ranking. Tax-related issues continue to be a significant problem for small business owners, however, the percent finding them “critical” issues has declined since 2016, certainly due to the passage of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed into law by President Donald Trump which amended the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Our focus today is going to be on the 10 top issues: Cost of health insurance locating qualified employees federal taxes on business income Property taxes finding & keeping skilled employees unreasonable government regulations state taxes on business income tax complexity uncertainty over economic conditions uncertainty over government actions --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nadjmat/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nadjmat/support

There have been a few successful pivots in the production industry as a result of COVID19. A couple of notable ones are Upstaging with their production of PPE and Michael Strickland through his efforts to work between the entertainment world and the Federal Gov't to help bring relief to our industry. But there's another one that is as impressive. Fellow Long Island buddies, Patrick DIerson and Andrew Gumper - who both now reside in Las Vegas, like most of us, found themselves completely out of work when COVID hit in Feb / March of this year. Immediately, Andrew looked around his large facility - thinking "what can I build with all this stuff". It didn't take long, and the two settled on something... not just anything, but something BIG and bold, with the possibility of establishing a successful business that could transcend COVID and continue to operate in the "normal" world as well. Enjoy this fun and inspirational look into a couple of guys who thought "Oh shit - Now What!!?" and actually came up with the answer! www.modproservices.com https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCiRFcfJsP__ijGMkl2tJBLQ

Every now and then on the podcast, we wanted to feature one of our Guest Mentors form the Gentle Business Mastermind. We have conducted a number of live interviews with a variety of experts, while mastermind members are on the line. We then store these interviews in our members portal so that members who couldn’t attend live or who have perhaps joined the mastermind in later years, can listen back to the mentors’ wisdom and experience. This is an excerpt from one of those interviews, with Bari Tessler Linden. Bari is a financial therapist, mentor, coach, mama-preneur and founder of the Art of Money, a year long money school that she lovingly leads each year. It’s also the name of her book, The Art of Money: a life changing guide to financial happiness.Bari has guided thousands of people to new, empowered and refreshingly honest relationships with money through her nurturing body centred approach. Her methodology weaves together personal, couple and creative entrepreneurial money teachings intone complete tapestry.Nic has been following Bari since back in 2012 when both were enrolled in Marie Forleo’s B School. Since then, she read Bari’s wonderful book ‘The Art of Money’ and loved it so much that she then enrolled in her year-long program of the same name.Bari’s is a beautifully integrated, gentle approach to money. As a result of her teachings, Nic has experienced enormous shifts in her relationship with money that has supported her through transitions and growth in her business as well as opened up a deeper, more connected way of talking about finances with her husband. In this excerpt, Bari explores a vast array of topics including money shame, how we compartmentalise money as non-spiritual, and how money practises and money dates can support us. She also covers how earning more money doesn’t automatically solve all your money problems and issues, plus the power of healing your money stories and beliefs. Our hope is that this conversation sparks ideas, inspiration and clarity for your personal relationship with money and how you can cultivate that relationship so money is a supportive, nurturing area in your life and business. If you would like to experience some more support around your business and building it gently, there are some exciting things happening at the moment. Welcome to Season 2 of Ditch The Hustle, and welcome to a new year and a new decade! thank you very much for being here with us. And we can't wait to share this new year with you in this new decade. And we'll see you in the next episode. In this episode, Naomi, Nic and Mandy share a little bit about having a gentle New Year: what they’ve been up to during the break and the rituals they’ve been using to support them all in doing business gently.Mandy and Naomi share how they both ended up working more than they planned over the break, because they found the time out from ‘business as usual’ gave them space to be inspired and dig into some projects and plans that otherwise get put off. Nicola shares how she spent much of the break engaging with and feeling heartbroken about the bushfire crisis in Australia, and the daily practices that helped restore her during time of such bad news. All three mention some resources that they’ve been inspired by or finding useful and helpful during the holiday season and beyond, including for daily gratitude practices, content planning and business reflection and leadership for the new year. They discuss some of the struggles they’ve experienced over the holiday period and how they support themselves and each other through those as well.Naomi also tells us her words for the year, and Nic and Mandy explain the rituals they do in the new year. Every now and again on the podcast, Mandy, Nic and Naomi want to feature one of the guest mentors from the Gentle Business Mastermind. Throughout the year-long program there are a number of interviews with a variety of experts while mastermind members are on the line, then these calls are stored in the members portal to listen back to the mentor’s wisdom and experience. In this episode, we hear from Naomi’s personal business coach and strategist, Lena West. She has made such an impact on Nai’s life and business that it felt selfish to not share that brilliance with mastermind members. Masterminders loved the first mentor call with Lena so much that we brought her back again in the second year of the mastermind upon popular demand. This episode is an excerpt from the 2019 mentor call with Lena West, a Business Coach for Entrepreneurs who want to do things differently. Lena shares with us some of the ways the online business world can be misleading, unhelpful and even dangerous to those starting out in business, and what to do instead. We discuss why the world needs the introverts, HSPs and empath to be showing up as ourselves in the online world, and the power of doing this collectively (not just individually).Lena also explains how we can look at changing business models so as not to uphold old, patriarchal, hierarchical ways of doing things and why we should be reimagining what CEO means. We discuss doing so while striving for courage over fear-less-ness, and how as CEOs we need to protect our confidence and surround ourselves with people we trust. We hope you found this segment of the interview with Lena as useful and inspiring as we did. In this episode, Amanda, Nicola and Naomi explore a topic dear to their hearts as they unpack the concept of gentle success: what it looks like for each of us and how we can invite more of it into our lives. Each shares what their relationship with success looks and feels like, and how it’s shifted over time. Naomi explains the questions she uses to help her unpack the concept of success for herself, realising that it’s not a binary and that she can approach it from a mindset of curiosity.Mandy shares why recognising and appreciating what already is here and now is so important, rather than always looking for the next milestone to achieve. Nic tells a story of a road trip with her dog in a van, and the simple exercise that helped her understand where she was going to invest her time and money. All three share what they do to create an environment and capacity to feel successful. Remember that in different seasons in our life, the things that we want to direct our attention towards and that we define as ‘success’ can change, and that’s ok.If this conversation stirred up a desire in you to explore what doing business gently might mean to you, you can get direct support, guidance and tools in the Gentle Business Mastermind. Naomi, Nicola and Amanda interview Ellen Ronalds Keene, the founder of Self-Care for Teachers and Perk Digital. Ellen shares her story of chronic illness and career change that led to her becoming self-employed. She shares how having two businesses actually helps her maintain balance, and why she grappled so much with this initially.Ellen explains some of the themes she sees in business owners and entrepreneurs that echo those that come up when she works with teachers, such as the glorification of the hustle, being the martyr and the myth of the quick fix/silver bullet. We also discuss the benefits of policies and procedures in business, and how separating ‘you’ from ‘your business’ helps with boundaries.Ellen also tells us how being a part of the Gentle Business Mastermind community has been so beneficial to her.You can connect with Ellen on LinkedIn or at ellenronaldskeene.comIf this conversation stirred up a desire in you to explore what doing business gently might mean to you, you can get direct support, guidance and tools in the Gentle Business Mastermind. REVIEW SONGS FROM THE LAST EPISODE Marc: “Spiderweb” Mikey: “Good Night Kiss” Mikey: Good Night Kiss is a character song that could have multiple perspectives, and I like the ambivalence. It could be from Mal to Saffron, or Mal to Inara, or Inara to Mal. “We’re not who we thought we are. We’re both complicit in this.” FIVE MINUTE SHOW SUMMARY Episode 7: Jaynestown - Written by Ben Edlund Plot synopsis: Marc: The crew sets down at Canton, a town on Higgin’s moon, to discreetly pick up some contraband to finish a deal. They pose as buyers of “mud” (a type of clay) because the magistrate (Higgins) doesn’t take kindly to outsiders who aren’t buying. Mikey: Jayne is nervous because he botched robbery on this planet a few years ago, a robbery of Magistrate Higgins, and wears a ridiculous disguise. When they get into town they realize that Jayne is viewed as a local hero, and even has a statue in his honor and songs in his honor. Marc: They learn that the contact they were to meet had been caught and punished, but that his stash of contraband is still there. Then, Jayne gets recognized, and any chance of lying low disappear. Mal decides to use Jayne’s fame as a distraction so they can get the contraband. Mikey: Inara meets with Magistrate Higgins, who wants her to sleep with his son, Fess, a 26-year-old virgin, in order to “make a man of him.” She assures Fess that virginity is just one state of being and that he should be his own man. Marc: On the ship, an agitated River dismantles Shepard Book's Bible, insisting that it makes no sense and that she has to "fix" it. Book manages to calm her down and explains that the Bible is not about making sense, but about believing in something. Later, she attempts to repair and return it to him, but panics when she sees his wild head of hair that he normally keeps tied back. Mikey: The Magistrate learns that Jayne Cobb is back in town and releases "Stitch" from what appears to have been four years of solitary confinement in a very small cell. It’s revealed that Stich is Jayne’s former partner, whom he betrayed, from the botched robbery years ago. Higgins gives Stitch a loaded shotgun and then tells him that Jayne is back. Marc: After Inara and Fess have shared their intimate moment, she learns from him that Jayne is about to be captured and tried, and that the ship has been "land-locked". He tells her that he would rather Jayne escape. Mikey: The crew finds the contraband, and get it back to the ship behind the distraction of Jayne Day, then Mal & Kaylee go back to get Jayne, who is making a speech in the town square in fro nt of his statue. That speech is interrupted by a gunshot from Stitch. Marc: Stitch tells the mudders that Jayne is no hero, that the robbery was botched and that the only reason Jayne threw the money from their damaged aircraft is that it was still too heavy to fly after Jayne threw Stitch from the aircraft. Stitch fires the shotgun at Jayne, but a mudder jumps in the way of the blast. Mikey: Jayne stabs Stitch with a knife and, after a brief struggle, Stitch dies. Jayne then checks on the mudder who took the shot for him, finding him dead. Jayne knocks the statue of himself over, and they go back to the ship. Marc: With everyone back on Serenity, Wash attempts to take off, but finds the ship "land-locked" per the magistrate's order. It is quickly released, however, as Fess decides to prove himself a man by defying his father's attempt to capture the "Hero of Canton." Marc: I am ever so grateful for the kindness and generosity of Gunn Runners over on Patreon. Mikey: The generosity of my Patreon supporters is amazing, and helps keep the music being made. Thank you to all of you, especially Robin Abess, John R Wollard, Shouts Out Unicorn, Jeremy Jackson and Jennifer Lewis, and James Doster. REVIEW SONGS FROM THE LAST EPISODE Marc: “Like a Big Damn Hero” Mikey: “Safe” FIVE MINUTE SHOW SUMMARY Episode 6: Our Mrs. Reynolds - Written by Joss Whedon Plot synopsis: Marc: Transporting some goods from one location on Triumph to another, the crew is set upon by bandits. One successful gunfight later and they’re dancing and singing in a nighttime celebration. Jayne is given a rain stick, and Mal has a wreath of flowers placed on his head, given wine to drink, and pulled to dance. Mikey: After Serenity is underway again, Mal encounters a stowaway in the cargo bay. The young woman Saffron informs him that she is his wife. Shepherd Book reads up on the local customs and informs Mal that he had inadvertently taken part in the local marriage ritual by accepting a wreath of flowers, drinking her wine, and dancing together. Marc: Mal has a heart-to-heart talk with the woman. Despite Mal's encouragement to be her own woman, Saffron cooks him a meal and offers to wash his feet. Jayne attempts to trade his favorite gun, "Vera", for Saffron, but Mal turns him down. Mikey: When Mal enters his quarters later, Saffron manages to kiss him. However, her lips are covered with a narcotic which renders him unconscious. Saffron heads to the cockpit and tries her wiles on Wash. When she is unsuccessful, Saffron knocks him out with a kick to the back of the head. Marc: She quickly takes control of the ship, setting it on a mysterious course and sabotaging the controls, then welding the door shut behind her as she leaves. Running to a shuttle to escape, she meets Inara and tries to seduce her too. Mikey: Inara plays along to buy time, but the alarm goes off. Inara compliments Saffron on her skillful lying. After dodging a kick from Saffron, Inara rushes to Mal after Saffron claims that she is Malcolm Reynolds' widow. After Inara finds him only unconscious, she kisses him, then collapses after calling for help, another victim of Saffron's drug. Marc: After breaking into the bridge, Kaylee and Wash are able to restore only the navigational system. They are headed straight for a "net". Book explains that the net will probably electrocute everyone inside, leaving the ship to the net's operators. Mikey: Mal has Jayne shoot a crucial part of the net with Vera, shorting it out. Jayne also ruptures the window of the net's control compartment, ejecting the two men inside into space. Marc: Later, on a snowy world, Mal bursts into Saffron's cabin and, after an unsuccessful attempt to get some answers, knocks her unconscious. Mikey: Back on Serenity, Mal presses Inara for an explanation of her supposed dizziness. Inara thinks Mal knows about the kiss and agrees to "not play" with him, but Mal reveals he thinks she kissed Saffron. Hello! I’d like to pretend that I’ve been away for a week and won the lottery or had some sort of mega exciting email but alas I’m still in the same pyjamas, on my second Diet Coke, recording this episode straight after the last one. I am on a Pinterest ROLL. Hope that’s OK with you! I could also be like, ‘loving what you guys have added to the Facebook group, your boards are looking amazing.’ But yeah no time has passed since recording the last episode and for all I know you could be making boards about Mrs Brown’s boys or red chinos. But let’s crack on shall we - I hope you’ve set up your profile, got it Businessified AF and have been pinning away. I hope some of you have seen success already with your monthly viewers going up. When I recorded this I was on 257k so hopefully I’ll have seen an improvement by the time this comes out! I would also like to say that I almost gave up on Pinterest. I was getting loads more monthly views but it wasn’t translating into traffic. HOWEVER since doing all of the bits we spoke about last episode and more of what I’m going to discuss today, my traffic from Pinterest has grown by 2200% which sounds MEGA impressive but actually I used to get 0-1 views a day from Pinterest and now I get on average, 23 a day. Haha not massive at the moment BUT we are beginners right? And if that is the increase in a few weeks, imagine what it could be in another few weeks, amirite? SO let’s talk more about how we can really optimise our Pinning game to drive as much traffic back to our blogs as possible… ya ready? Let’s look at what makes a good pin. Good quality pictures are always a winner. No grainy and pixelated Instagram filtered bad boys are going to do the trick. It’s worth baring in mind that vertical pins do much better than square or landscape pictures. This is why all photos on my blog are now ‘portrait’ and I also ensure I use Canva and it’s Pinterest pin template to create my pin graphics. Pinterest is also looking at developing it’s featuring of video pins. Again these should be filmed vertically - like stories (which are taking over, aren’t they) so definitely something to think about! Best performing pins are often clear and inviting lifestyle looking pins and ones with attention grabbing text overlays do a great job too. In fact, what I’ll do is if you sign up to the Exciting Emails mailing list - which I’ll link in the show notes, I’ll send an email out this week with some examples of ‘best practise pins’ - would that be helpful? You can also experiment with the images! You can have multiple pin images for one blog post. So say if you’ve got a banger of a guide on Bali then do some pins of your best Bali pictures and some with text overlayed to say it’s a Bali guide - you can then use your Business analytics to see which performs best! One question that often gets asked is how many boards should you pin one piece of content to and that answer is unlimited really - as long as it’s relevant. So say if you have a chocolate cake recipe - you can pin it to desserts, chocolate, cakes etc but you wouldn’t pin it to Utility Jumpsuits. But that’s common sense right so sos for being a knob and pointing that out. If you’re going to use video for pins make sure you have text overlay as I really, highly doubt anyone uses Pinterest with the sound on. I bloody don’t! Do you??? Last week I told you I’d go through with you a way to get your cover pins looking fancy. If you’ve got a sec and can head over to Pinterest and my profile which is Vix Meldrew, you’ll see that they all look super branded and cohesive. I actually only learnt how to do this at Pinterest HQ but here we are. Firstly I was creating branded pins for all of my content anyway but even if you don’t have this and you just want it to show all your travel pins, because you’re a travel blogger, or style pins because you’re a fashion blogger - this is how. Go onto your profile and at the top right there should be a pen icon - click on it and it will say, ‘Pick some pins to feature in your profile cover’ - if you can’t find it, head to the show notes and I’ll do a screenshot. There you can select which board you can pull the pins from - remember to keep it branded to your niche if possible! Alright, another thing I said I’d talk through with you is your featured boards. They are the boards that appear at the top of your profile in a carousel. Again if you look at mine, I’ve got my blog posts and podcast episodes as 2 boards and then 3 others directly related to my niche - blogging tips, marketing tips and Instagram tips! I should just do a potato board for the LOLs shouldn’t I? Or lifestyle images with Diet Coke? Anyway, To do this you want to go back into your settings, go to your profile and scroll down to where it says ‘Featured Boards’ there you’ll have 5 slots with drop downs so you can choose your best boards! I defo recommend having one with your content in there and your other strong boards with lots of great pins. Ok now let’s look at a basic pinning strategy. Like I said, my babe Dani Tailwinds mine for me. Tailwind is an auto scheduler of pins to keep your account ticking over. I then make sure I go into the app every day and personally pin 5 or more things I like from my home and following feed. Reena at Pinterest said that you will see an improvement in your monthly views even if you just pin 5 a day. So those spare minutes on the bog, or those drawn out phone calls with your Auntie is the perfect time to absentmindedly pin a few new things each day. Don’t forget to regularly pin your own content too! New blog posts, YT videos, Insta posts etc - make sure you physically pin them yourself, either from your camera roll or from your platforms - and make sure you edit those descriptions to make them search-worthy. Ok, like I said, I’d come back to hashtags. You can absolutely put hashtags in your pin descriptions - it’s a way to get discovered on Pinterest. The broad ones work really well like, travel, beauty, spring summer style etc but you can also pop a search term into the Pinterest search bar to see in what detail people are searching to make your hashtags and keywords even more specific - pale skin makeup, Bali travel for example A note about descriptions - don’t keyword stuff. Pretty sure I’ve done that before. People read them in sentences so write them in sentences! Just be creative in getting those keywords in. With regards to keywords - think about that when naming boards. I know it looks good to have M space A space C etc etc but it doesn’t help your boards get discovered! So think of naming your boards with words and phrases that WOULD be searched for. Again use Pinterest’s search bar to get ideas. Like now, if I type in ‘make up’ the results I get are ‘make up looks, tips, storage, tutorials’ - this means, if my blog was a beauty blog, I’d probably think about creating boards called all of these things. Reena at Pinterest also told me that they love boards with 40+ pins on so perhaps keep em private until you’ve got them looking juicy and then set them public! Another great tip is to make sure you categorise your boards, you get this option when you create a new one - it helps them get seen in the right places! Another thing I learned to do at Pinterest is to organise my boards. I had a huge Interiors Inspo one with over 700 pins but they were bedroom, bathroom, living room and bar cart pins - all over the shop. Reena showed me how to go into a board, click on ‘Organise’, select pins of the same type, press ‘Move’ and put them into a section. You could do this for your blog content too! Especially if you write across different categories. So you could have a board called, ‘Blog Posts’ and then sub sections for beauty, travel, lifestyle etc Go and have a look at my Interior Inspiration board to see what I mean! I keep saying ‘another another another’ but honestly I learned so many bloody useful tips at this meeting - like archiving boards. Rather than deleting your amazing boards of leopard print inspired outfits when it’s no longer a hot trend, archive them and bring them out again when it’s time. Really successful pinners have seasonal boards for V Day, Xmas, Halloween etc that they archive and unarchive in the lead up and when it’s relevant. Means you can keep adding to the boards each year rather than deleting and starting new ones! Which brings me to board types - those are archived ones. You can have secret ones too that only you can see - these are handy if you’re working on projects you don’t want others to know about yet. Or for engagement rings when you’ve only been dating 2 months. Sos Ben but you did get me my dream ring any who. Lastly there are group boards. These are ones that have tons of contributors and where you can all help each other out by repinning each other’s content. A new feature that has started gathering pace in the US but less here is the new Communities feature. Pinterest want to make the platform a bit more sociable so you can now have mini forums dedicated to chatting about your interests. These are currently invite only. I have made ones for Bloggers, Instagrammers and Tips so make sure you’re signed up to the Exciting Emails mailing list because I’ll send an invite to those communities out. This also means that once you’ve been invited to a community, you can create your own too. I’m not quite sure on the best way to utilise this feature yet but I can imagine with all of the goodies I’ve seen that are coming up for Pinterest, we’ll be doing a follow up episode or blog post SOOOOOON As you probably know there’s SO much to go into with Pinterest but I wanted to give as much simple info as possible to get us all up and running! I hope this has been helpful and you now feel like you know how to fully optimise your profile, boards and pins! What have I missed? I’d love to hear more tips so defo let me know. Now let’s get onto some insider secrets that Reena let me know about! Did you know that each December Pinterest release their 100 trends for the upcoming year? This is based on what is gaining traction and what more people are starting to search for and pin. Why is this useful to know? Well, if you happen to be a vegan blogger and you can see that a trend is vegan donuts - you should bloody make a vegan donut board and write a blog post on vegan donuts - the chance of your pin performing really well, massively increases. I’ll link the Pinterest 100 in the show notes but I also want to draw your attention to the Pinterest UK blog. BECAUSE they also upload a blog post every month or so to let you know their ‘editorial themes’ or the themes they’re looking to feature. So you get ideas for new boards from the blog and then you can upload your boards to their link and if they love your board - they’ll feature it! The deadline has gone for Feb/March but soon they’ll release their themes for April/May and we can all go off and make boards relevant to the themes they’re spotlighting but also baring in mind they should be relevant to the content we make. Regardless, even if you don’t have time for that, the Pinterest blog is FULL of helpful updates, news and tips so make sure you go and have a look. Again I’ll link in the show notes. Whew, that was a LOT right? But again, I hope you’ve found it hopeful. So what can you go away and do this episode? I’d like for you to share some pins that you think are best practise. I want to see you having a go at creating pins too! I also want you to go off and optimise those boards with keywords, hashtags, sections and categories so we can all see you mean business! Don’t forget you can always chat with me on Insta or Twitter @vixmeldrew and we can carry on this convo in the Facebook group - Exciting Emails. Until then though, I’ll leave you with this mountain of homework - alright it’s not actually that much and hopefully you’re inspired to go off and complete it, and I will see you next time! Byeeeee.

Time for the 4th part of our February/March 2018 Aruba Trip and I am here with Maggie recording down in the island right now to report the events that happened from Thursday (March 1st) to Saturday (March 3rd). Last time, we left off on Wednesday evening after going through the highest of highs to the lowest of lows all in one day. So we figured that we should put that behind us and go for a fresh start on Thursday by unwinding and relaxing all day in Eagle beach. It was a very long, satisfying, and perfect beach day with perfect weather conditions which we spent from morning until just before 7 in the evening. Our late dinner was spent at Kalin’s, the Mexican restaurant that we ate at just a few days ago. Since they are open until very late at night, it really is perfect for people like who us who are looking for a good fallback meal. Friday was yet another beach day but this time in Palm Beach. The definite highlight of this day was the dinner at Delicious, the new restaurant near Palm Beach (where Diana’s Pancakes used to be). They literally just opened this week so they don’t even have a menu yet but the chef, who is the daughter from the family that runs Papiamento Restaurant, served us with surprise meals that were amazingly well-prepared and beautifully presented. She is passionate about her food and hearing her personally explain the dishes after the dinner was such a worthwhile experience. The next day, we headed over to Arashi beach which hands down had the best water conditions out of all the beaches we went to this entire trip so far. Later on we met up with David and Brenda Cohen, who I interviewed in One Happy Podcast (episode 48) a couple of years back. We visited them in their own Aruban house and had such a great time. We also went to another Aruba Ray comedy show that evening and as always, they were phenomenal. Just a reminder that these shows do sell-out nightly so if you’re planning to come to one, make sure to book your tickets in advance on arubacomedy.com So that wraps up our Saturday and we woke up the next day feeling a little under the weather. Hopefully, we won’t end up having the flu while down here in Aruba. We truly wish to finish our vacation in the best way possible. Tune in to the next episode for the conclusion of our Feb-March 2018 Aruba trip! ON THIS EPISODE OF ONE HAPPY PODCAST, YOU WILL: Know about an amazing chocolate dessert from Delicious Restaurant that is made up of unusual ingredients. Hear a funny story of a guy from the Aruba Ray comedy show audience nicknamed “Bean”.
