It's time for another Mind Gap Podcast! This week, Doug and Justin figure out which fictional gadget they'd want if they could have one. Justin foolishly picked the Iron Man suit and Doug promptly talked him out of it, likely saving his life in the process. It was a heroic move on Doug's part. The dorks then shift into the main topic of which side characters in film and TV stole the show. The guys talk about Tormund Giantsbane from Game of Thrones, Luis from Ant-Man, Han Solo, Samwise Gamgee, Garth Algar from Wayne's World, and a bunch more. Things are wrapped up with another round of the movie clip guessing game, where Doug plays clips from different movies and Justin does his best to guess which films they're from. Check out our YouTube channel where we livestream our new podcast episodes every Tuesday at 8pmCT and our video game stream every Saturday at 8pmCT. Föstudagsgestur Mannlega þáttarins í þetta sinn var leikarinn Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson. Hann hefur mikið látið að sér kveða eftir að hann útskrifaðist úr leiklistarskólanum, bæði í leikhúsi og fyrir framan myndavélina þar sem hann hefur leikið margvísleg hlutverk. En svo fyrir rúmum tíu árum fékk hann fyrsta hlutverk sitt í erlendu kvikmyndaverkefni og þá fór boltinn að rúlla. Í dag flýgur hann heimshornanna á milli og leikur í gríðarstórum kvikmyndum og sjónvarpsþáttaröðum, Game of Thrones, Succession, nýjustu ofurhetjumyndinni um Captain America og nú er hann að leika í kvikmynd um He-Man, eða Garp eins og hann kallaðist á íslensku. Við fórum með Jóhannesi aftur á æskuslóðirnar, en hann ólst að hluta til upp í Færeyjum og brunuðum svo með honum í gegnum lífið til dagsins í dag. Í matarspjalli dagsins með Sigurlaugu Margréti tókum við framhaldsumræðu um af makkarónur með hangikjöti og kokteilsósa og pítusósa með pizzum og aðrar skrýtnar, eða að minnsta kosti óvenjulegar samsetningar á mat. Ef þið lumið á sögum af slíku, samsetningu á mat sem er kannski þekkt í einhverjum fjölskyldum, eða í einhverjum landshlutum, en gætu þótt sérkennilegar annars staðar, þá endilega sendið okkur á mannlegi@ruv.is. Tónlist í þættinum í dag: Pabbi vill mambó / Páll Óskar og Milljónamæringarnir (Al Hoffman, Bix Reichner, Dick Manning, textahöfundur ókunnur) Hvað er ástin? / GDRN (Friðrik Dór Jónsson og Jón Jónsson) Rólegur kúreki / Bríet (Bríet Ísis Elfar og Pálmi Ragnar Ásgeirsson) UMSJÓN GUÐRÚN GUNNARSDÓTTIR OG GUNNAR HANSSON
HBO is back in the name! Too bad the Game of Thrones spin off is delayed. James Gunn's new Superman trailer is out - it made Sarah cry. Plenty of great content is being renewed: Tina Fey's ‘Four Seasons' and ‘The Diplomat,' meanwhile Netflix is rebooting ‘Star Search' - and they say it will be LIVE. Great news for Jelly Roll: He's going to England! Plus, Screen time is a long winded fight with your kids, college is the new Sears, and Oreos are vegan… but not healthy.
Chris and Tim come at you this week talking about the Disneyland 70th celebration and all the goodies come along with it and also talk about some Disney+ news with trailers and announcements. The guys also talk about HBO changing the name of Max back to HBO Max and does the delay of the Game of Thrones spin-off A Knight in the Seven Kingdoms have anything to do with the name change. Make sure to follow us on Facebook!
A lot of big news out of the Studio Upfronts, the biggest being the return of HBO Max! Also we need to talk about the things Nintendo is doing, because i gotta say, NitenDONT! Plus Waffle House in Tekken is still not any closer, and we got to see our first look at Spider-Noir. Plus I break down my day at Universal Studios Hollywood!

In The Storm [59:36], they obsess over what might be hiding out on level B3 of the Lakeview Hospital and look ahead to the flashbacks that could be coming in the next episode. K.J. Aiello is a Canadian who describes herself as a mentally ill writer. It is, she says, who she is. K.J. discusses her fabulous new book, "The Monster and The Mirror." It's a unique blend of memoir, research, and cultural criticism in which K.J. tries to understand her own mental illness using "The Lord of the Rings," "Game of Thrones," and other stories as guides to heroism and agency as well as cautionary tales of how mental illness is easily stereotyped as bad and violent. In this recap over the last two weeks we see the reality of the world around us present in the Bible, we also see the best of Game of Thrones and any other TV drama! It's all right there to read, with no story covered up. This is what we need to recapture in the Christian Faith; the reality of what it says, the reality of what it speaks of and in to.

In episode 64 of the Dancing with Dragons podcast, we dissect and review Daenerys Stormborn's arrival as she reveals her master plan in Astapor. In one breathtaking sequence, she demonstrates why she's a revolutionary force to be reckoned with—commanding her dragon with a single word and transforming from a woman seeking an army into a liberator who inspires willing followers. The iconic "Dracarys" scene represents everything that makes Game of Thrones exceptional storytelling: shocking twists that somehow feel inevitable in retrospect. Tony & Minwa also unpack Olenna's discussions with Varys and Cersei. Cersei stands up to Tywin. We see a mutiny unfold in the Night's Watch, the return of Beric Dondarrion, and Jamie wallows in pity. Let's get grim and dark with Lord Grimdark! Perhaps the greatest benefit of having a book podcast like mine is the opportunity to speak to my very favourite authors. I've been reading Joe Abercrombie's violent, world-weary dark fantasy for TWENTY years! And now he's on the show. Consider me excited. His new book may be called The Devils, and it may contain werewolves, vampires, necromancers and oceans of blood – but it's quite a cheery affair for Joe. I have never laughed so much in preparation for an interview. We talk writing the most anti of antiheroes, gender-flipping the catholic church, and why you shouldn't sleep with people who own swords. It's a lot of fun. Enjoy! Other books mentioned: A Game of Thrones (1996), by George R. R. Martin Wizard of Earthsea (1968), by Usula K. Le Guin LA Confidential (1990) by James Ellroy Blood Meridian (1995), by Cormac McCarthy Support Talking Scared on Patreon Check out the Talking Scared Merch line – at VoidMerch Come talk books on Bluesky @talkscaredpod.bsky.social on Instagram/Threads, or email direct to talkingscaredpod@gmail.com Learn more about your ad choices. Hi friends, happy Wednesday! Julius Caesar...military genius, fashion icon, drama queen, and oh yeah—murdered by 60 of his coworkers. We've all heard the name before. Maybe you think of togas, Caesar salads (not from him btw), or that phrase "Beware the Ides of March." Whatever that means. But Caesar's real story? Lemme tell you... way messier than what they told us in school. From pirate kidnappings to public sex scandals, and flexing on his enemies to literally dumping a bucket of #2 on a senator's head— history remembers this man as some regal leader. But he was pure chaos. And his murder? Less Shakespearian tragedy and more Game of Thrones energy. So why did Rome turn on their “god”? And did Caesar kind of have it coming? Let's get into it. This is the Dark History of Julius Caesar. I appreciate you for coming by, and tune in next week for more Dark History. I sometimes talk about my Good Reads in the show. This week we're breaking down Take Your Daughter To Work Day, so let's keep it G-rated, okay? The ladies give some background info about all the child actors on set that day and chat about Stanley's daughter flirting with Ryan, and Pam's struggle to befriend just one kid. Then the ladies give history lessons on Shaggy Peter and the Green Sleeves song that ends in a fun revelation, and we get an update on Game of Thrones. Finally, we discuss Brunetti's Pizza, and hit up Kentapedia (Kent Zbornak) for the low-down on that Fundle Bundle video. Now the kids have left, you can now safely go back to being your HBO No Limits-selves.
