CR is testing the 2025 Buick Enclave Sport Touring, the new luxury 3-row SUV from GM positioned just below Cadillac. Built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia, the new Enclave aims to combine upscale comfort with family-friendly practicality. But does it deliver real value in a crowded segment? And how does it stack up against competitors like the Toyota Highlander, Grand Highlander, and the Honda Pilot? We also answer viewer questions about niche tire sizes on some Toyota and Lexus vehicles (like the Prius and Crown Signia), and is it worth keeping a 2009 Toyota Highlander with over 250k miles, or is it time to find a replacement? General Motors downsized the people-moving Acadia for its second generation, but for three-row-conscious consumers, the company reversed course for its third installment. The third-generation GMC Acadia sports three rows of seats, which are stuffed inside a 204-inch-long shell. While the Acadia is stuffed full of the latest GM suite of digital screen tech, the biggest departure in the Acadia's lineup might be the 3.6-liter V6. Stuffed under the hood of the Acadia since its launch, the 3.6-liter V6 was left at the factory, with GMC stuffing a turbocharged 2.5-liter I4 in its place. This turbocharged I4 shoves 328 hp and 326 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels, or through the all-wheel-drive system. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of a 2024 GMC Acadia and puts it through its paces. Murphy takes you on a tour of the '24 Acadia and highlights some of its new features and styling. Later in the show, Murphy also takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Murphy chats with host Wesley Wren about the new Acadia, where it sits on the sales charts, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2024 GMC Acadia special.

An iconic Detroit trip, auto industry drama, and Sloppy Joe rebrand — what's not to love on this jam packed episode? Lizz discovered today's millennial word of the day on a Gen Z reel recently. ‘Pog champ' is a way to show excitement and hype in the gaming world that is creeping its way into mainstream lingo. The gals have massive dumps to share today, starting with the Roman empire trend that Kelly is certain Lizz started. Try it yourself: ask your husband how often he thinks about the Roman empire and if he thinks he could land a Boeing 737 plane. Kelly and Lizz wonder what the female version of the trend is and Kelly reveals how often she thinks — and how little she actually knows — about Hellen Keller. Why are children's books depressing for no reason? Lizz may not have the answer, but she certainly has questions. Kelly recaps her iconic Detroit trip and says if she was a Telluride she'd be shaking in her boots about the new GMC Acadia redesign. Skip a trip to the grocery store *and* ditch the drive-through. Workers are looking for a 40% pay increase to match the company's CEOs and a return to their full benefits package. In Musk moments, Kelly and Lizz share the power of the quote and practice, “Sometimes thank you goes further than I love you,” and why they, “Don't fight tired.” The humble and delicious Sloppy Joe needs a rebrand. Jill and Tom are joined this week by long-time cohost Damon Bell, who is currently serving as Senior Research Editor at Cars.com. Jill and Tom opened the show arguing about the two-screen dashboard found in the current Infiniti QX50 compact crossover. Jill finds the systems dated, while Tom saw the value in having a single screen dedicated to navigation functions. Damon joined the conversation to help summarize the reveals seen at this year's Detroit Auto Show. Jill, who was in attendance at the event, noted that the press activity was especially light, as was media attendance. The trio covered the reveals of the freshened Cadillac CT5, Ford F-150, Jeep Gladiator, and all-new GMC Acadia. In the second segment Damon reviewed the all-new Hyundai Kona small crossover, noting that the vehicle has gotten larger on the outside, and roomier on the inside. Jill, Damon, and Tom went on to wrap up their “Dead Pool” lists created in way back August of 2021. There is some question as to who did the best job picking vehicles which were soon to be discontinued. Jill and Damon were subjected to Tom's “Lancia or Listeria” quiz, which—big surprise—was decided by a question about gophers.

Special Guest Sam Smith joins the Curmudgeons in this episode! Not the singer, but the best writer in the automotive business. Sam also has his own podcast on the Hagerty Podcast Network called "Driven To Fail." This inspires Jason to bring up all the times Sam "failed" while at Automobile Magazine. Jason and Sam both started their careers at Automobile Magazine at 2006, working with the brilliant, talented, and wonderful Jean Jennings. And Sam had a rocky start — immediately recognized as one of the best writers in the business, but crashed a lot of cars. There were Camry Dents, tire blowouts in a Mk5 GTI, a crunched Lotus Elise, and a Ford GT spun into a culvert. There exist no photos of those accidents, but Jason does have an old video of his Ann Arbor steep-driveway tire test: a Range Rover Sport on summer tires vs a GMC Acadia on all-seasons versus a Chevy Suburban on winters. The results are amazing. The Bums return with S3:E0072 as the front chapter begins with Rocky recapping the B.O.M. podcast for 2022, by the numbers; the road to the Super Bowl narrows with an overview of the NFL Divisional Playoff series; Eddie tallies up the Bums playoff challenge with Rocky clinging to a razor slim lead heading into Conference championship weekend; Good guy J.J. Watt hangs up his cleats with clear line of sight of the HOF; spring MLB season is creeping up on us; legendary shot caller Pat Hughes wins a Ford Frick award; the Bums are unaminously unimpressed with HOF nominees Crime Dog and Scott Rolen (who?); the pale hose brass were sold damaged goods as defective pitcher Steve Cleving wins scumbag of the week honors; wife slapper Dana White extends his brand of white trash sports with SLAP, and the Bums are none too impressed. The rear chapter cracks off with a double review of beer and booze; McD comes through with another creation from New England's Trillium Brewing with Aerial Roots, a Corn India Pale Ale (7% ABV) — with a sweet nose and a bitter finish; and Paddy splurges Irish style with an 18-year old Jameson whiskey that is smoother than seal shit on a glacier — with caramel and vanilla flavors and zero burn; the Bums bid adieu to WXRT radio legend Lin Brehmer who lost his fight with cancer (RIP); Eddie asks tough questions around gun control in schools (not for the faint of heart); serial toddler NFH loses his sole-source phone during a field trip to the House of Blues in Chicago; Eddie sees a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac (well, kinda); and Paddy lets his GMC Acadia go into the cold dark night after more than a decade of faithful service. If electric vehicles are going become mainstream in the United States, home-charging must also move into the mainstream. Without being able to recharge their vehicles at home, consumers will find that EVs might simply offer a day-to-day experience that is too complicated and too time-consuming. In this episode of America on the Road host Jack Nerad has the chance to discuss this issue with a man who knows all about it. Brent Gruber is Senior Director of Global Automotive for J.D. Power. We talk with him about a just-released J.D. Power study on electric vehicle infrastructure and home-charging. Are carmakers and dealers doing enough to educate consumers on the ins-and-outs of owning an electric car? We'll give you the answer. How did the Toyota Sequoia Nightshade fare in the forests of Maine? Co-host Chris Teague tells all. Also in the road test segment, host Jack Nerad reviews the 2021 GMC Acadia. The Acadia isn't the best-known SUV on the market and it is certainly not the biggest, but it might be one of the best-looking. Does it act as good as it look? And what families will find the Acadia most appealing? Nerad lets us know. What do you do if you buy a car that turns out to be a lemon? We've got some tips for getting the most miles per gallon of gas.Useful Tips to Improve Your Gas Mileage1. Take it easy on the pedal. ... the faster you go the greater the drag that your car will have to work against. The same is true when coming to a stop. Imagine there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal to remind yourself to accelerate slowly and gently. When breaking allow time to just slow by not having your foot on the gas peddle. 2. Adhere to your vehicle's recommended fuel type. ... if you’re suppose to put regular fuel in the car do it. If you’re suppose to put premium fuel in – do that. 3. Watch the weight. ... unless you’re driving a cargo van, don’t carry cargo regularly, for no reason. 4. Reduce drag. ... roof racks, bike racks, and storage accessories on your car add weight and increase aerodynamic drag. They aren’t for everyday use. 5. Inflate those tires to the correct pressure. ... flatter tires have more contact with the road and take more fuel to propel. Also watch the tread pattern of the tires. 6. Avoid prolonged idling. Your engine consumes half a gallon to a gallon of fuel every hour. Don’t rev your engine while starting in the morning. Let it run for 20 seconds and you’re good to go. 7. Drive in the highest possible gear but without putting undue stress on your engine. . . for a manual. Automatics – keep it on overdrive8. Forget aftermarket solutions . . performance enhancing gizmo or technology make promises but don’t deliver or the effect is negligible.9. Utilize online resources to find the best deals on gas. Something like Gas Buddy or AAA, Kroger fuel discounts, Wal-Mart giftcard discounts10. Refuel in the morning, not towards the end of the day . . . you can save a dollar of two because the gas is cooler and denser. When it expands, less gas makes up the same volume11. Do not ever forget to replacing your air filter 12. Be sensible when using the air conditioning – is city traffic better to roll down the windows13. Keep your car tuned up14. Every year use something like CRC Intake Cleaner GDI – throttle body cleanerAnd here’s what’s in the news this week: Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Returns to Netflix July 19 Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, the show in which he picks up a comedian and takes them to coffee in a sometimes perfect/sometimes combustible car, usually framed around his interpretation of their personality, will return with new episodes to its relatively new home at Netflix next month.Consumer Reports has a list of 108 2007-16 models that have a record of much-worse-than-average overall reliability based on subscriber responses to their Annual Auto Survey. In the garage we talk about GM's shifting crossover strategy with the 2017 GMC Acadia and Honda growing the Ridgeline into a real truck. Then the talk turns to cars that talk to each other, the Google cars project transforming into Waymo and Uber behaving badly yet again (big surprise there!). Finally, in Q&A Sam gives tries to give a brief explanation (or at least as brief as Sam can be) of how the Volkswagen diesel emissions cheat worked and why engine accessory electrification saves fuel. Our Sponsors:* Check out Express VPN: https://expressvpn.com/WHEELBEARINGSAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
