Types of kissing, “good” and “bad” kissers, what a kiss means to you… Labeling someone as a “good” kisser implies a one-size-fits-all technique, but in reality, we don't have good and bad; we have compatible and non-compatible kissers. Kissing is a matter of preference, attraction, attunement to your partner, and perhaps even genetics. Once we become sexually active, we often throw kissing into the foreplay category and give it little thought, but kissing can be the end game. Kissing doesn't always have to lead to sex! Communication is, not surprisingly, key when it comes to kissing. Does your partner prefer wet kisses or dry kisses? A hot and heavy makeout or soft and slow caress? Do you like to be touched while kissed? Where and how? The bottom line is that you don't know what your partner wants and they don't know what you want unless you talk about it. When we explore kissing with our partner, we learn to dance together, and we learn to enjoy the kiss!

This week, we bring you a conversation with members of the internationally loved soul-pop pioneers Lake Street Dive. Starting out as jazz nerds storming local folk festivals and tiny rock clubs around Boston, they've since become a well-oiled touring phenomenon, headlining Red Rocks, touring Europe, playing late night on Colbert and Kimmel, all while never settling into an easily nameable genre. In 2021, after three years since their last, they celebrated the release of their much-awaited seventh studio album 'Obviously.' Most notable bands are like sunsets: they flash their colors, they create a few memories and fade away. And most groups that attempt somehow to connect virtuoso players in the jazz, roots and rock ‘n' roll scenes never actually live in the same town and each have a Beatles-esque knack for singing sublime harmony and writing effortlessly killer hooks (see fan favorites like “Go Down Smooth,” “Good Kisser” or their new Tik-Tok earworm “Hypotheticals”) and also have their own solo groups? Maybe they last a few fiery tours and finally disband. And yet Lake Street Dive have become a steady standard-bearer in the nascent Americana world – and only seem to be getting tighter and more creative 17 years in. Founded in 2004 by luminous singer Rachael Price, upright bassist-songwriter Bridget Kearney, high-energy drummer Mike Calabrese, and the recently departed guitarist-trumpeter Mike “McDuck” Olsen at The New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, the group caught new wind and inspiration after adding kinetic keyboardist/singer-songwriter Akie Bermiss in 2017. After months of planning, we finally caught up with Calabrese and Bermiss on the Zoomways to discuss how they are forging a fresh path forward after a tough year and a half away. You're hearing lead singer Rachael Price here telling us all about how good she is at kissing. Backing her mighty claim is Mike Olson, Bridget Kearney, Mike Calabrese and Akie Bermiss. However, as Mike "McDuck" Olson states, The concept was abandoned for something that actually sounded good. Mike Olson Most members were already playing instruments at a young age and some even had classical training. However, their influences came mainly from the music they heard at home. Mainly jazz, soul and '60s rock. Lake Street Dive also all individually cite the entire Beatles discography as hugely influential. In fact Kearney wrote Hello? Goodbye! and Don't Make Me Hold Your Hand as a direct result of her love of The Beatles. Further influences on Lake Street Dive In addition to The Beatles, LSD cite Hall and Oates (heard here on the track Rich Girl), The Jackson 5, The Mamas and the Papas, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA and The Drifters. They also annually release a Halloween cover/video. You can go check out their Fun Machine EP which contains some of these covers. With this in mind, it's quite obvious Lake Street Dive don't take themselves too seriously at all. They're a fun band knocking out slick grooves and having a whole lot of fun along the way. Les clips. On en regarde tous les jours, même sans le vouloir, il suffit de zapper sur ses chaînes de télé, ou de faire une recherche sur un artiste sur Google.fr pour voir apparaître son clip le plus vu. Pourtant, au fur et à mesure des années, cet outil de promotion autrefois purement artistique, est devenu un vrai business, au point d’avoir nuit à sa créativité et tout ce qu’il symbolisait, principalement, la possibilité pour un fan de mettre des images sur une chanson préférée et surtout, de voir un artiste dans son univers, comme si on le touchait de près. Avec l’arrivée de YouTube, des appareils disponibles pour tous les budgets et la chute de l’économie du disque, la donne a bien changé. J’ai eu une grande histoire d’amour avoir les clips. Il suffit de jeter un œil à ma compilation de VH7 pour me rappeler les nombreuses nuits blanches que je passais en douce devant la télévision de mes parents couchés, pour enregistrer tous les clips "Black Music" et les derniers arrivages U.S. que programmait M6, étrangement uniquement tard dans la nuit. J’étais bluffé par ces impressionnantes réalisations de 3 minutes seulement, qui faisaient rêver, laissaient imaginer que vous étiez dans un club ou dans ces rues de L.A. avec cet artiste qui dégageait tant de charisme, tels de trop courts films qui vous donnaient comme seule envie d’en apprendre plus sur ce personnage et de réécouter sa musique encore et encore. Mais les temps ont bien changé. La diffusion du clip s’est démocratisée, toutes les chaînes en passent, les plateformes explosent de mises en ligne, tous les artistes peuvent se permettre d’avoir "un clip", mais de quel niveau ? J’ai grandi aussi, je ne me lève plus la nuit pour aller enregistrer des clips, il y a YouTube pour cela, mais cela ne veut pas dire que j’y passe mon temps, bien au contraire. La brève s’est tant ouverte que les clips de qualité ne pleuvent plus, à ma grande déception. Les derniers clips qui m’ont enthousiasmé sont le "Good Kisser" d’Usher et avant le "Loyal" de et réalisé par Chris Brown. Pas de grands chefs-d’œuvre dans le genre non plus, mais c’est que l’industrie d’aujourd’hui peut se mettre de temps à autres. J’imagine que comme moi beaucoup se sont posés des questions sur cette mutation du clip, pourquoi les réalisateurs ne font plus rêver, pourquoi les artistes ne font plus danser devant l’écran, et ce que l’industrie a pu bien faire pour que le clip se dégrade autant. J’ai décidé de réunir les meilleurs interlocuteurs qui évoluent dans ce business pour nous donner les réponses à ces questions. C’est le but de l’émission MM Radio : LES COULISSES DE L’INDUSTRIE.
