Hey film fanatics, Dan and Tony here to serve up a piping hot dish of cinematic critique with a side of podcast confessional. Ever watched a movie so puzzling it turned your popcorn stale? That was us wrestling with the identity crisis that is John Cena's "Freelance." From Cena's stoic facade to the antagonist's scene-stealing antics, we're peeling back the layers of this genre-jumbled flick. Allison Brie's undercooked story arc? We're on it. The editing gaffes that stole our chuckles? We've got jokes of our own to cover that. Join us for a hearty roast of a film that left us hungrier for the Cena charm we know and love.Prepare for a plot dissection that would have surgeons applauding our precision, as we tackle this film's narrative rollercoaster. From bizarre village escapades to a character's sudden patriotic shift, we're dissecting Cena's struggle to portray a depth he's not given and Brie's attempts at forced chemistry. It's a journey through the movie's muddled motivations and questionable character accents – with enough inconsistencies to have us considering a career in screenwriting. And for those who savor the sweet taste of behind-the-scenes drama, we're dishing out a candid look at the recent plateau of our own podcast's subscriber growth.Strap in for an episode that's part movie autopsy, part confessional booth, as we navigate the complexities of a film trying to balance comedy with a critique of Western influence on smaller countries. From Cena's standout line that had us snickering to a climactic firefight with misplaced rock music, we're breaking down this cinematic conundrum for your listening pleasure. Oh, and if you're curious about our next adventure, let's just say we have an enticing expedition to the "center of the world" that you won't want to miss.Be our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

SIDE HUSTLE 6: JAMES FRANCO: WE KNOW HE IS CANCELLED, STOP TEXTING US ABOUT IT We live in an era where  men are being held accountable for being awful (not nearly enough of them but it's a start). This is a good thing. Most of these men are older, however, and in the creative sphere most are past their Best By date. So it is unusual to have someone like James Franco, literally at the apex of his skills both as actor and director, undone by his own destructive impulses. It offers a fascinating "what if" to a career that will more than likely never be now. As actor we begin with PINEAPPLE EXPRESS (2008), the first mainstream feature directed by David Gordon Green (we talked about his brilliant "Joe" during our Cage Uncaged season, still worth a watch!) and featuring a near-future murderers row of comedic actors. Like most films written by Seth Rogen and longtime co-writer Evan Goldberg, Express eventually boils down to a story about male friendship. This time between Rogen and Franco's sweet, open-hearted stoner Saul.  It is a classic performance in a classic stoner comedy.Franco has directed a lot in a short time and our "side hustle" film of his is THE DISASTER ARTIST (2017) detailing the, uh, male friendship between real life Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero. No, this was not written by Rogen and Goldberg. Instead we have a true life story about the man behind one of the best worst movies ever made, The Room, who spends a lot of time, money and effort in order to not have to say "I love you" to his best bud (who is played by Franco's own brother, not-cancelled Mr. Allison Brie, Dave). Both a singular performance that strives to go beyond imitation and directing makes this the most Franco of movies. It shouldn't work but does.  An amazing career most likely cut short in mainstream cinema with no one else to blame but himself. Maybe he can play himself in the eventual film version. Ken and Thomas are joined by Leigh to sort it all out. THEME SONG BY: WEIRD A.I.Email: thegoodthepodandtheugly@gmail.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/TGTPTUInstagram: https://instagram.com/thegoodthepodandtheugly?igshid=um92md09kjg0Twitter: https://twitter.com/thegoodthepoda1YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6mI2plrgJu-TB95bbJCW-gBuzzsprout: https://thegoodthepodandtheugly.buzzsprout.com/Letterboxd (follow us!):Ken: Ken KoralJack: jackk1096

Adria Tennor talks her new movie "One Moment", working on various television shows throughout her career, and the time she auditioned to be a 12 year old boy! About Adria: Adria Tennor earned her BFA in stage directing and acting at New York University and Playwrights Horizons Theater School. She began her career as an actress, and her first professional job was playing a twelve-year old boy looking at porn in Tompkins Square park in Hal Hartley's Amateur, which premiered in the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes. She works regularly in television and film and is most known for her recurring roles on Mad Men and Mad Dogs as well as in the Academy Award winning film, The Artist. She also stars opposite the late, great Danny Aiello in his final, soon-to-be-released feature, One Moment, a heartbreaking comedy about a single mother trying to harness her already hectic life while her aging father slips into dementia.  Dissatisfied with the amount of work available to women in entertainment, Tennor began writing her own material, performing stand up early in her career, then spinning her material into a rave-reviewed one-woman show, StripSearch, about finding love and happiness with the help of a 12-foot pole. Another monologue she wrote and performed, Pie in the Sky, was published in the anthology about lust gone wrong – Worst Laid Plans: When Bad Sex Happens to Good People alongside works by Whitney Cummings, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Allison Brie and Laraine Newman. Tennor made her producing debut on horror spoof, Smothered, shot on location in Baton Rouge. Her directorial debut, a self-penned childhood drama, Cracked, stars Marguerite Moreau, and garnered awards and laurels around the country. Her second film, Pie, starring fellow Mad Men alum Jessica Paré, was a favorite on the festival circuit in 2018, also garnering awards and laurels internationally.  Adria won the CineStory fellowship for her first feature script Never Been Born. While attending the retreat, she met accomplished YA novelist and Emily Dickinson First Book Award recipient Kristen Tracy, and the two co-conspired to conceive, collaborate and produce the short-format series FETISH which will launch in early September 2020. Adria is also in the process of penning a sequel solo show and series to StripSearch called STRIPPED about trudging through the ugly mire of divorce also with the help of a twelve foot pole. Her ambition is to create and tell more stories for and about women and to foster opportunities for a diverse point of view in theater, film and television. Happy Wine Wednesday! Matt of The Communies fan account joins me this week to talk about one of my absolute favorite shows and fandoms of all time - Community! Our conversation is part of the podcast's Boozy Beginnings AKA pilot project series in which we discuss the pilot episode of various tv shows.  Matt and I head over to Greendale and kick off our discussion with what drew us to Community, whether we we completed the series, and then the deep dive into the pilot. We start by talking about the pilot's introduction to two of the more memorable characters from the series - Craig Pelton and Greendale Community College.  From there, we talk about our initial impressions of Jeff Winger and other memorable introductions to the study group members.  We were both struck at how fully realized these characters clearly were from the very start. Y'all know I love a little lighthearted zodiac fun, so I asked Matt to identify his big three signs in the form of Community characters.  Although we were both huge fans of the episode, there were a few minor things we might do differently.  Related to that topic, I asked Matt to share what his version of Community would look like if he were in charge of a revival or reboot of the show.  No discussion of Community would be complete without talking "Six Seasons and a Movie" - so of course I asked what his Community movie would look like. The main discussion closes with our thoughts on why you should keep watching, our favorite fandom moments, and we get a little less than wholesome with some fun Community-inspired thirst prompts.  Matt graciously stuck around and discussed overall thoughts about the series in a spoiler segment following the main discussion. Thanks for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time! Lost and Found - Community - series (Netflix) -  Episode 75Before Dan Harmon attained cult status for creating the black comedy satire animated series, Rick and Morty, he was known for a relatively lesser-known comedy television series called Community. That's the Lost and Found for today's episode, I'm your host NikhilSet in Colorado in the fictional city of Greedale, a disbarred lawyer named Jeff Winger joins a  local community college after his firm finds out that he did not have a legitimate bachelor's degree. Jeff, played by Joel McHale, decides to make the most of his time at the community college and brings everything in his repertoire to convince his classmate, Britta Perry, from his Spanish class to go out on a date. So he creates a pretend study group just for the two of them, only to discover that Britta invited another classmate, Abed Nadir, a slightly eccentric movie buff, who invited a host of others as well. The Spanish study group soon becomes a very tight-knit club as the series chronicles their misadventures. Dan Harmon has left an indelible mark on the series with his signature humour, satire, social commentary, and surreal set-pieces. The narrative at times requires a suspension of disbelief, but the over-the-top elements are deliberate additions carefully crafted to parody tropes from popular films and TV shows. Allison Brie essays the role of Annie Eddison, a bright young student who has a history of a public mental breakdown in high school, Donald Glover plays Troy Barnes a former NFL hopeful whose career prospects were dashed by a serious knee injury, Yvette Nicole Brown as Shirley Bennett, a very religious mother of two who dreams of expanding her horizons, whereas Chevy Chase essays a wealthy elderly man who has a penchant for being politically ‘incorrect', and Danny Pudi plays the heart and soul of the story, Abed Nadir, an eccentric movie buff who often struggles to communicate well with others. Ken Jeong, Jim Rash, and John Oliver play other important characters in this criminally underrated TV series. If you haven't watched Community yet, it's streaming on Netflix.Well that's the OTTplay Lost and Found for today's episode , until the next time it's your host Nikhil signing out.Aaj  kya dekhoge OTTplay se poochoWritten By Ryan Gomez

Welcome back to The Cinematic Schematic, the official podcast of The Cinematropolis.com. Today I'll be proving my review of Emerald Fennell's directorial debut, Promising Young Woman.  DISCLAIMER: Potentially triggering topics including rape and sexual assault are a central part of the plot and themes of Promising Young Woman. If you are sensitive to these subjects, this review and the film may not be for you. Reader and listener discretion is advised.  According to IMDB Promising Young Woman is described as “A young woman, traumatized by a tragic event in her past, seeks out vengeance against those who cross her path.” The film is written/directed by Emerald Fennell and stars Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham, and Allison Brie. Fennell's directorial debut is a bold, sharp and oftentimes excruciating examination of the double standard between men and women, accusers and the accused and victims and their predators in our society. It's a rape-revenge thriller that not only disregards your comfort, but actually relishes in your discontent.  In the midst of an ongoing culture war between a justice system that stands by the principle of innocent until proven guilty and a cancel culture that has taken to social media to demand retribution against sexual predators […] The post Promising Young Woman – The Cinematic Schematic Review appeared first on The Cinematropolis.

Most actors wouldn't consider leaving a role as one of the most popular and beloved characters on one of the most acclaimed BBC costume dramas in it's prime. However, most actors aren't Dan Stevens. To avoid being typecast, the "Downton Abby" alum boldly exited the series in 2012 to pursue a career in American cinema. Since then, Stevens has strived to diversify his filmography. He's had great success in genre films such as "The Guest" and "Colossal" and even lent his musical talents to Disney's live-action "Beauty and the Beast" as The Beast. He also helped challenge cable television and the comic book genre with his titular role in Noah Hawley's thought-provoking series "Legion." All of this is to say that Dan Stevens is a performer with range and someone who's imagination knows no bounds. This summer, Stevens not only returns to the paranoia driven psychological thrillers he's so fond of but lends his charisma and charm to the first-ever Eurovision movie. In Dave Franco's directorial debut, "The Rental," Stevens stars opposite Allison Brie in this timely thriller following two couples who rent an Airbnb for a weekend getaway. Shortly after arriving, they suspect the owner is spying on them. What follows will make audiences reconsider before booking their next Airbnb (if COVID-19 hasn't already). "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga," sees Will Ferrell reteam with "Wedding Crashers" director David Dobkin and former SNL writing partner Andrew Steele. The film tells the story of an Icelandic duo (Ferrell and Rachel McAdams) competing in the world's largest international song competition. While the movie is full of entertaining performances, Stevens steals the show with his turn as the suave and eccentric Russian billionaire Alexander Lemtov. Stevens has an attuned ear when it comes to dialect. In fact, the 37-year-old actor revealed that if he converses with someone for long enough, he'll start unintentionally adopting their speech pattern. More often than not, Stevens' entry point into a character is in how they speak, and his attraction to dialect has informed some of his other career decisions. Many may be unaware, but Dan Stevens is a rather accomplished audiobook narrator with credits ranging from Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express," to "The Illiad" and "The Odyssey," to "Frankenstein," "War Horse," and Ian Fleming's "Casino Royale." Perhaps much of his fascination with audiobooks stems from his love and degree in literature. However, there's something to be said about how Stevens is drawn to words and the endless creativity they inspire when a camera isn't around. Over the course of our conversation with Dan Stevens, we discussed Eurovision, ambitions of pursuing more voice acting, his time doing stand-up comedy, collaborating with a first-time actor turned director on "The Rental," and more. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theplaylist/message

Join the conversation on the blog (and find the full show notes)by going here https://bit.ly/2LrGU2k ..Thanks for watching/listening!  On this episode, I've put together an audio blog where you follow me around for a day.   I also have quick TV/Movie reviews of:   GLOW season 2 Incredibles 2 Luke Cage season 2 Another look at Star Wars: The Last Jedi   There are spoilers! Finally I discuss two quotes from recent audiobooks/podcasts I've listened to which had an impact on me.   They come from Robin Sharma and Eckhart Tolle.   Quick Reviews   Incredibles 2 review- This movie was wonderful. I felt there was too much focus on Jack-Jack. Not much on Dash. The action in the film was much more dynamic than I expected. Collider Video late last year had a top 50 superhero movies of all time. They ranked the first film movie 7th overall. When I saw this, I said 'What?!' But after viewing the sequel, I appreciate the first one a lot more. These films are fun and heartwarming. I want more with these characters and this world. I love how unique each character looks particularly Rick Dicker played by Jonathan Banks of Breaking Bad fame. Dicker even looks like Banks. Star Wars: The Last Jedi-3rd viewing observations The Last Jedi is now available on Netflix. You can find my original review (with friends) here https://bit.ly/2rxJkHg . This is my 3rd viewing of this movie. I'm still breaking it down and trying to figure out why it's so polarizing to fans. Here are some observations. -Poe Dameron shows no sympathy for the troops which die because of his actions at the beginning of the film. -Luke plays a crazy old master Jedi who will train a young apprentice, similar to Yoda and Luke in Empire Strikes Back -Rey feels she can turn Kylo Ren towards the light side, comparable with Luke and Vader in Return of the Jedi -Rey has a gun turret action sequence in the Millenium Falcon, similar to Han in the Star Wars: A New Hope. This film series has light, fun entries, and dark ones. In the dark category I'd throw in Revenge of the Sith, Empire Strikes Back, and this one. Luke Cage Season 2 review-Pros & Cons Pros -The show was well paced as opposed to the first season which ended(I felt)a few episodes early. -Bushmaster. Great presence and fighting style. Great backstory. Look forward to seeing him again in future seasons -Episode 10. Loved seeing Luke Cage & Iron Fist in an episode together. I'm ready for a six-episode season of Heroes for Hire. Throw in the Daughters of the Dragon in that mini-series too. -I liked that this season acknowledged the events of the Defenders. -The characters in the show were great. Alfre Woodard. This is her show. Theo Rossi is incredible as well. Sahr Ngaujah as Anansi always has a presence when he's on screen. I saw him in Fela on Broadway; he was tremendous there. Reg E. Cathey is always solid, may he r.i.p. Chaz Lamar Shephard as Piranha Jones was funny. Antonique Smith as Nandi was dislikeable. Superlative job by all mentioned. Cons -This show shouldn't be called 'Luke Cage. It should be called 'Mariah Stokes.' She has more screen time than the hero. It's like seeing a Transformers movie. The film series carries the name of the robot race in the title, but the majority of the films are humans running around. -As I said earlier, this season had a better pace than the first, but I felt it was still too long. -Tilda Dillard was beautiful, but I wasn't blown away by her performance. Glow season 2 review -This was Betty Gilpin's season. She presented several shades of this character; Debbie Eagan. Going through a divorce, becoming a producer on the show, being a mother, hashing out her issues with Ruth Wilder(Allison Brie). We go from rooting for her to sympathizing with her, and plain disliking her. Her smile is terrible as well. Wonderful work. -We spent more time with characters which we didn't in the first season like Arthie and the new castmate Yolanda who was sexy and fun. I also like Marc Maron warming up to Allison Brie and building more of a relationship with his daughter Justine. -Allison Brie is the heart of this show. I can't believe how much shit she takes from Betty Gilpin and Marc Maron at the beginning of the season. I enjoyed her taking more of a creative role in the show and finding a love interest. -The runtime and number of episodes are palatable. It left me wanting more. The Netflix Marvel shows should take the similar format. -My only complaint is that the comedy didn't always land with me. Whereas the first season I had more laughs, this season I didn't. This is one of my favorite original Netflix shows. I want more. Bring on season 3.   Two Recent Audio Quotes which Impacted Me    These are two recent pieces of audio that made me think. I want to apply these teachings in my own life. The first one is from Robin Sharma. On his Youtube channel, he has a video called 'How to Fearlessly Speak your Opinion.' Here is a link to the video https://bit.ly/2uuOnr2. The direct section which impacted me is this here: 'A lot of people ask me when I meet them at a live event, or maybe it's online, Robin, I want to speak my truth, but something prevents me from doing it. Maybe it's at the office. Maybe it's in your intimate relationship; maybe it's with your family. I don't know where it is for you, but I wanted to make sure I offered you some valuable insights to help you speak your truth even when your voice shakes.' 'Because ultimately, one of the ways that we can develop self-respect, and one of the ways that you can build self-worth, is speaking your opinion and sharing what's important to you and putting a voice to what you need to say, even if people don't understand you or also if people don't like it.' 'I think it was Dr. Seuss who said, speak authentically. Be real. Be yourself. Share your opinions. And here was his line: "Because those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter." 'And there's a lot of wisdom if you wanted to deconstruct that idea of Dr. Seuss. It's pretty powerful because ultimately, I believe you can say whatever you need to say, so long as you say it with respect. And so if it's with your intimate partner, and there's something that's bothering you, but you want to say it ... First of all, when you say it, it's like you release a pressure valve. You know what most people do in any relationship, they swallow what they need to say, even though it's incredibly important to them. And here's what that does in your professional associations and your relationships.' 'Every time you swallow something you know you needed to say so that you're clear, it builds up. It builds up emotionally. It builds up psychically, and it eventually, that pressure builds up, and finally, it will come out in conflict. It happens at the office. There's a teammate, and you don't say something. Well, here's what bothers me or here's what I need to say, or here was my opinion. Over time, the wound will fester, and it will damage the relationship.' 'And I've seen it so often in home relationships, in personal relationships. A little thing that could have been handled like, "I didn't like the way that you said that to me," or "I wanted to go to do this on the weekend but you wanted to do that, and I didn't feel heard." And rather than just saying it, because most of us don't know how to say it, they don't teach us how to communicate at world class in school; we swallow it because human beings don't like conflict.' 'Because we're tribal, and I don't want to get into the neuroscience and the psychology of tribalism, but we're tribal. That's how we survived thousands of years ago. And so now we do have an instinct hardwired into us, not to have conflict, because we want to fit into the tribe to survive. But if you don't speak your truth, when you know you need to share your opinion, well, you swallow the words. You take the emotions.' 'And here's what it does. It not only then damages the working relationship or the personal relationship. Here is the powerful insight. It hurts your relationship with yourself. And I think in many ways, all lack of success and creativity and productivity in someone's life, comes down to a lack of self-worth.' 'One of the best things you can learn how to do is learn how to honor yourself. Learn how to build self-worth. Learn how to build self-respect. Learn how to build self-love. And one of the best ways to do that is to speak your truth even when the fire is on. ' Hearing this was like a shining light in the dark. How many nights I'd lay awake in bed thinking for hours how a particular co-worker(or friend) may have rubbed me the wrong way. How I can get revenge, make them feel how I'm feeling at the time. Had I used Mr. Sharma's method I could've used that mental energy elsewhere. I love the self-care angle in his message. I interpret as it being vital in getting the unsaid, the resentment out of you. By talking to the individual directly. I found speaking to a confidant or journaling helps as well. The second quote is from an audiobook. Eckhart Tolle's 'Power Of Now.' I also purchased the book as I'm hoping to read through it, highlight other sections and go over them. This is pulled from Chapter 8. 'I always thought that true enlightenment is not possible except through love in a relationship between a man and a woman. Isn't this what makes us whole again? How can one's life be fulfilled until that happens?' 'Is that true in your experience? Has this happened to you?' 'Not yet, but how could it be otherwise? I know that it will happen.' 'In other words, you are waiting for an event in time to save you. Is this not the core error that we have been talking about? Salvation is not elsewhere in place or time. It is here and now.' 'What does that statement mean, "Salvation is here and now?" I don't understand it. I don't even know what salvation means.' 'Most people pursue physical pleasures or various forms of psychological gratification because they believe that those things will make them happy or free them from a feeling of fear or lack.' 'Happiness may be perceived as a heightened sense of aliveness attained through physical pleasure or a more secure and more complete sense of self-attained through some form of psychological gratification. This is the search for salvation from a state of unsatisfactoriness or insufficiency. Invariably, any satisfaction that they obtain is short-lived, so the condition of happiness or fulfillment is usually projected once again onto an imaginary point away from the here and now.' "When I obtain this or I'm free of that, then I will be okay." This is the unconscious mindset that creates the illusion of salvation in the future.' 'True salvation is fulfillment, peace, life in all its fullness. It is to be who you are, to feel within you the good that has no opposite, the joy of being that depends on nothing outside itself. It is perceived not as a moving experience, but as an abiding presence.' 'In theistic language, it is to know God not as something outside you, but as your innermost essence. True salvation is to identify yourself as an inseparable part of the timeless and formless One Life from which all that exists derives its being.' 'True salvation is a state of freedom from fear, from suffering, from a perceived state of lack and insufficiency and, therefore, from all wanting, needing, grasping, and clinging. It is freedom from compulsive thinking, from negativity and, above all, from past and future as a psychological need.' 'Your mind is telling you that you cannot get there from here. Something needs to happen, or you need to become this or that before you can be free and fulfilled. It is saying, in fact, that you need time, that you need to find, sort out, do, achieve, acquire, become or understand something before you can be free or complete.' 'You see time as the means to salvation, whereas, in truth, it is the most significant obstacle to salvation. You think that you can't get there from where and who you are at this moment because you are not yet complete or good enough, but the truth is that here and now is the only point from where you can get there. You get there by realizing that you are there already.' 'You find God the moment you realize that you don't need to seek God, so there's no "only way" to salvation. Any condition can be used, but no particular state is necessary. However, there is only one point of access, the now. There can be no salvation away from this moment.'    Being good enough right now. Not waiting for a person, or buying a thing, to get to where you want to go. I've gone down that route many times where I felt that if I purchased these clothes or this camera or this drone, THEN I will matter. So sad to reflect and acknowledge that being the case. We must go through the journey to reach the destination right?    I do have a slight counter to this point. If there is a skill you want to improve, focusing on that skill and being around a community which nurtures it, will enhance your ability in that area even quicker. But that spark, the vision, the drive resides within us. We light that flame. It all begins with a decision. Listening to audio is my weapon of choice when it comes to education.   Enjoyed this? We got a real knock out for you sluts out there with this one. https://twitter.com/watchalonepod GLOW - the docu, not the show cuz the show sucks even if Allison Brie shows her tits twice in one episode. Valerian - scifi from Luc Besson, not great, but Cara Delevingne who got fucked on a plane apparently and *kisses fingers* God bless he who rogered. Antonio Campos' Afterschool! Lucky McKee's All Cheerleaders Die! John Waters's Polyester! Lovely Divine and Mink Stole tranny love. Great fuckin flick. Kill By Inches - the Tiny Tailor Slasher Shit you didn't think you needed; it's like Perfume, but instead of cologne murders, it's dick measuring tape murders Child's Play 2 - it's good, but Chucky is a dumb franchise! George Romero may he rise in peace - Bruiser from 2000 and Survival of the Dead from 2009 Eric Rohmer's Love in the Afternoon - gorgeous 1972 French morality play Joseph Losey's 1951 Prowler! Noir goes backdoor. David Lowery's A Ghost Story - really good shit per Josh, won't even watch it per Andrew FF Coppola's Tucker: The Man and His Dream - for lovers of Hudsucker Proxy and sad sacks of shit. The Gymnast - Ned Farr's cishet P90x babe wife plays a bulky lesbian in a loveless het marriage. Free your shackles. War for Planet of the Apes - Gollum does monkey business again, but who can remember anything? Woody Harrelson has to walk around reminding the audience of past two plots out loud. Otto Preminger's Bonjour Tristesse - David Niven, Deborah Kerr and Jean Seberg make and ruin love in the beautiful Mediterranean The Horseman - a forgettable sack of shit starring Dennis Quaid. Do you like theme serial killer movies like Se7en? Then skip this one, cuz it's more of the same! L'eclisse - Antonioni. Andrew hates, Josh loves. L'avventura - more Antonioni, ditto. The Naked Prey - some man shit where Africans hunt a naked white down in the bush for sport. Convincingly, he outplays them all. The Hunter - Andrew nearly showed an emotion talking about this one with Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill; a tale of a man hired to kill the last Tasmanian Tiger. Never on Sunday - Jules Dassin's shitty sex comedy. Skip it and watch classic Dassin like Brute Force. Cosmos - Zulawski's last movie before he croaked. Delirious, hallucinatory, amazing, per Josh. The Verdict - Lumet puts Newman as a shitty lawyer who insists his client go to trial on a med mal case when they'd rather settle. Predictably, problems ensue and the law has its ways with the facts.

Show Rundown: In this week’s episode, friend of the show Ben Weddell, host of Big Ben’s Movie Show, joins Chris for a review of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Why am I not reviewing it, too? Because I actually decided to wait to see it opening day. I’m not as inpatient as my co-host who just HAD to see it early and review it right away. OR maybe I have a life and I can’t stop everything to see yet another Spider-Man movie. Or maybe - just maybe - it’s a scheduling thing. In our second segment, we step into the ring and talk about Netflix’s new series “Glow,” about the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling. And finally we end our show with what we’re dorking out about this week.    Topic 1: Spider-Man: Homecoming Review (No Spoilers) and the Semi-Annual State of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Well, a few weeks have passed, so that means a new movie in the octopus-like Marvel Cinematic Universe has been released. But this one is a bit different. Spider-Man: Homecoming came out Friday, starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Michael Keaton as one of the few great Marvel villains seen on screen, The Vulture. Big deal, you may say. After all, Marvel is churning these movies out one every four months now. And who cares, you may say, this is the seventh major motion picture with Spider-Man since Sam Raimi’s original Tobey Maguire Spider-Man in 2002. But this is the first time Spider-Man has had a whole movie all to himself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and only the second time MCU uber-producer and Kevin Feige have worked with a rival studio, in this case Spider-Man rights holder Sony, to produce a movie for the MCU. Was the wait and all the fanboy hype over the last two years leading up to this worth it? Joining me today to talk about Spider-Man Homecoming is friend of the show, Ben Weddell, host of Big Ben’s Movie Show and one of the biggest Marvel Zombies I know.   Topic 2: GLOW Season 1 Review and 'Slight' Gems of Netflix Since Dorking Out has a no binge watching-required rule, we have waited long enough to talk about Netflix’s new series, “Glow,” about the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling. Apparently this was a real syndicated show is the late 80s. I didn’t watch it, and I had never heard of it until I saw this show. This “Glow” is a fictionalized take on the creation of the show starring Allison Brie, Betty Gilpin and Marc Maron. “Glow” is created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who worked on “Nurse Jackie,” “Weeds” and “Orange Is The New Black,” and those shows DNA is all over “Glow,” especially “Orange Is The New Black,” and I mean that in a good way. It’s on Netflix. It stars a mostly female cast. And it’s loosely based on a true story. Like “Orange is the New Black” uses prison as its jumping off point, “Glow” is using wrestling to tell funny, interesting, touching stories about women from a variety of backgrounds. In “Glow” Allison Brie is an aspiring actress who thinks she’s kinda above this fake wrestling show, and kinda like Piper in “Orange Is The New Black” she discovers a lot about herself and that she is supposed to be there. I really like this show, and I’m excited to see season 2.    What We’re Dorking Out About This Week: Dorking Out Movie Trade: Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Bring It On Newly unearthed photo suggests Amelia Earhart survived her final flight   Discovery of the HMS Terror in Canada Find The Dorking Out Show here... Stephanie Berman wants lesbians to make some babies! The Semenette inventor joins The Manwhore Podcast to talk about her sex toy that lets lesbian couples enjoy the babymaking process. We had a fabulous conversation about sex toys, starting family and how you go about buying semen. IVF treatment is extremely expensive and sticking a turkey baster in your wife's cooch isn't a very pleasurably experience. The Semenette is an ejaculating dildo with an insemination upgrade! We discuss how same-sex couples can go about making a baby. No, The Semenette does not come with sperm. So Stephanie Berman tells you how to go aboout getting some spunk. Please do not get it from the underground black market of semen. Your baby will be born looking like a gangster with a bowler hat. Did you realize how dangerous sex toys can be? Berman dishes on phalate-free sex toys and why you should avoid toxic PVC dildos. Know what you're putting in your body! Also, c*ck rings are great. Go see Sleeping with Other People starring Jason Sudeikis and Allison Brie. It's a phenomenal sex comedy that doesn't shame casual sex. Support this film in a theater near you! Here's a link to the story about Trent Arsenault who the FDA shut down after he donated sperm and fathered over a dozen children! Check out The Semenette's website at www.TheSemenette.com!
