James Gunn has announced the actor playing Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to Superman, and the role is going to Lars Eidinger. In this quick update, we break down who Eidinger is, why his background as a major German stage actor stands out, and what that might mean for the way Brainiac is portrayed. We also talk through the classic Brainiac vibe, the “smarter than Lex” angle, and why this casting choice could lean into a colder, more philosophical version of the character.00:00 New Brainiac casting announced for Man of Tomorrow00:20 Who Lars Eidinger is and what he's known for00:37 Why a stage actor could shape Brainiac's voice and presence00:43 What you think about this castingJames Gunn revealed Lars Eidinger as the new Brainiac for Man of Tomorrow.Eidinger's résumé includes major stage work, including roles like Hamlet and Richard III.The casting could point to a Brainiac that feels calculated, philosophical, and genuinely intimidating.A strong “presence” villain is exactly what you want opposite Superman and Lex.“We have our new Brainiac. 2025 has been the Year of Superman, and Missing Frames has been celebrating James Gunn's new film by sitting down with some of the writers, artists, and actors who help make the Man of Steel so special. Past conversations have included comic legends Dan Jurgens, Mark Waid, Tom King, and Phillip Kennedy Johnson, reflections on Richard Donner's iconic film with Lauren Shuler Donner, and even a chat with Ma Kent herself, Neva Howell.Today's guest is another incredible talent: Jonah Lees, who appears in Superman as Dean Farr, one of Lex Luthor's LuthorCorp cronies, alongside his real-life twin brother, Christian. But Jonah's career extends far beyond Metropolis. A highlight of the conversation is his work with Richard Linklater and Ethan Hawke on Blue Moon, as well as his recent portrayal of John Lennon in the Brian Epstein biopic Midas Man. An actor, songwriter, musician, and director, Jonah is a multifaceted creative whose range is as impressive as it is exciting. What begins as a Superman celebration quickly becomes a love letter to many shared passions: Superman, Richard Linklater, and The Beatles.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and based on Tom King's acclaimed comic, the film hits theaters June 26, 2026. Analytic Dreamz breaks down the trailer's gritty, cosmic vibe—featuring a traumatized, hard-edged Supergirl celebrating her birthday across the galaxy with Krypto, reluctant vengeance quest alongside young alien Ruthye (Eve Ridley), interstellar action against villain Krem (Matthias Schoenaerts), and a glimpse of Jason Momoa's Lobo. Highlighting the rock soundtrack like Blondie's "Call Me," space-western tone contrasting Superman's optimism, and Alcock's raw portrayal of a "f***ed up" Kryptonian raised amid horror, this marks a bold, darker chapter in the DC Universe.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/analytic-dreamz-notorious-mass-effect/donationsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Today on The Kristian Harloff Show, we break down one of Marvel's most surprising moves yet as the AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY trailer has officially arrived exclusively in theaters, attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash ahead of its release next week. Why is Marvel keeping this trailer offline, and what does that secrecy suggest about the scale of Doomsday and the growing speculation around Doctor Doom? We also react to the first official Street Fighter trailer and posters, giving fans their clearest look yet at the iconic video game heroes and villains heading to the big screen. Can this finally be the video game adaptation that delivers both fan service and mainstream appeal? On the DC side, the Supergirl teaser trailer introduces the DCU's Woman of Tomorrow, along with our first official look at Jason Momoa as Lobo. We discuss tone, character direction, and how Supergirl fits into James Gunn's larger DCU roadmap. We also examine newly released Supergirl promo art, including the intriguing tagline and creative team comments teasing a more flawed, "imperfect anti-hero" take on the character. Plus, HBO Max has released a new trailer highlighting its 2026 slate, which includes our first look at Lanterns. The footage teases the dynamic between Hal Jordan and his apparent trainee, John Stewart, offering early insight into the tone, mentorship angle, and how the Green Lantern mythos may be positioned within the evolving DCU. All that, plus audience questions and live discussion on today's episode.

The first teaser trailer for DC Studios' Supergirl has now dropped online. Starting Milly Alcock, Supergirl marks the sophomore effort in James Gunn & Peter Safran's new DCU following Superman's critical and commercial success. After years and years of anticipation and defending James Gunn's DCU years before it even began, it was so satisfying to see people fall in love with Superman again back in July and to see people genuinely excited about DC on the big screen again. These characters and the universe as a whole has mean the world to me ever since I was a kid, and to see them finally getting adapted onto the big screen in (mostly) the way I'd always hoped is so damn exciting. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one of my favorite DC comics of all-time, so to say I was excited when Gunn announced the story being adapted to a movie would be an understatement. I've long BEGGED for more comic book movies to do more straightforward adaptations of comic book stories. At the end of the day, you're never going to do better than the best work from the people who understand these characters best: the comic book writers who grew up being nerds like us about these universes. Tom King is also one of my favorite working comic book writers so to just see a spotlight put on one of his stories like this is just great. My excitement for the film multiplied when the crew, as well as director Craig Gillespie, came on board for the film. Well, the teaser trailer is finally here. Is this everything I hoped for? Find out by clicking play!
Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesThe potential sale of Warner Bros Discovery has been a hot topic in recent weeks, but no one could have predicted the escalation and heightened stakes the bidding war has reached as Paramount CEO David Ellison announced a hostile takeover bid to the tune of $108.4 billion in response to what he described as Netflix's inferior $82.7 billion deal; a deal that seemed like an all but assured thing just days ago. It's been an uncharacteristically long time since James Gunn has given us a headline, but we may still be a day late and dollar short, as on Sunday the DC Studios head released a 10 second first look at Supergirl via social media, with the promise of the teaser trailer later in the week; which many have speculated to mean Thursday… Thanks, James! Also concerning DC: Four years after leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind, Scarlett Johansson seems headed for Gotham City, with the actress in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II. Details about Johansson's potential role are being closely guarded, though speculation has already run rampant about which iconic Batman character she might portray, though being a new love interest for Bruce Wayne in some capacity is a popular guess in the wake of unconfirmed reports that Zoe Kravitz might not reprise her role in the sequel.More than seven years after its original theatrical run, Marvel Studios is bringing Avengers: Endgame, the second-highest-grossing film of all time, back to theaters September 25, 2026 just months before Avengers: Doomsday later that December. While it's still unknown how long the Russos Brothers' last MCU contribution will be back to the big screen, the placement between the releases of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July and Doomsday in December, has fueled industry insider speculation suggesting the new Avengers film will act as a direct sequel to Endgame rather than closely following the events of Phases 4 through 6.HBO has revealed that the third season of Euphoria will begin streaming in April of 2026. This comes more than four years after Season 2 finished in February 2022.Hulu has renewed the Glen Powell led sports comedy series Chad Powers for a second season.20th Century Studios announced The Simpsons Movie 2 has been delayed from July 23, 2027 to September 3, 2027. Paramount and Blumhouse are reviving the Paranormal Activity franchise and bringing on James Wan to produce a new feature film in the franchise according to the Hollywood Reporter. Variety and CNN have revealed the star-studded lineup for the 23rd season of Actors on Actors. Some of the participants include Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Dwayne Johnson, Julia Roberts, and Ariana Grande. Sony Pictures has tapped Bad Boys For Life writer Chris Bremner to pen a new Men In Black film. Although plot details are not public, sources tell Deadline that when the script is complete, original series star Will Smith will be the first to read it in hopes that he will return to the franchise in some capacity. Prime Video has released the first trailer for the final season of The Boys. The show has an updated release date of April 8, 2026, which will see the release of two episodes. Episodes will then drop weekly, leading to the series finale on May 20th. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 opened to $109 million dollars worldwide over the weekend, a strong opening for the franchise. Additionally, last weekend's champion Zootopia 2 is nearing the one billion dollar mark with $915 million dollars worldwide so far. Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join the upcoming Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. Sophie Turner is set to star as Lara Croft, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge on as writer and executive producer.

Welcome back to The Kristian Karloff Show, where we break down the biggest Marvel and DC news of the week! Today we dive into huge updates from the MCU, DCU, Sony's Spider-Verse, and DC Studios—starting with AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY. Marvel Studios has officially kicked off marketing as Disney+ teases Doctor Doom's long-awaited return with the new FIRST STEPS image. What does this mean for the future of the MCU and Doom's role in the multiverse saga? Next, we jump into LANTERNS, where James Gunn may be bringing two of the most unpopular Green Lantern suits into the DCU. Are these designs really coming back, and how might they play into the new Max series that will help shape the foundation of Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters? We also break down a juicy rumor from the Sony side of things: a report claiming the studio wanted the VENOM director to helm SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY—and the surprising reason it didn't happen. What could this have meant for the future of the Spider-Man franchise? And finally, SUPERGIRL adds a key cast member as social media activity suggests the first trailer may be dropping any moment. With "Woman of Tomorrow" officially gearing up, we explore what this new casting means and how soon fans can expect the full reveal. If you're into MCU updates, DC Universe news, superhero casting breakdowns, and Spider-Man franchise rumors, this episode has it all.
