Grab your Jedi robes and your lightsaber and get ready to get heated as Andrew and Presley discuss this contentious series and lets just say one of them gets a little passionate...All our Links: https://linktr.ee/seasononepodSeason Spoiler Synopsis: The Acolyte is a Disney+ original Star Wars series. Set at the end of the High Republic era (about 100 years prior to the Skywalker Saga), the series follows Osha Aniseya (Amandla Stenberg) and Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) as they investigate a series of Jedi murders. Osha is a former Padawan learner of Sol's, now a meknek who earns credits to live by fixing starships as part of a crew. Jedi Master Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss) is murdered by a mysterious unidentified Force user, believed to be Osha. Osha is arrested and claims innocence and must go with the Jedi to Coruscant to prove her innocence. Meanwhile, we see Osha's twin sister Mae meet with her friend Qimir (Manny Jacinto) after killing Indara and discusses her plot to murder the four Jedi responsible for the fire that killed her family. As Osha, Sol, and his team of Jedi investigate the murder of Indara and subsequently Jedi Master Torbin (Dean-Charles-Chapman) they discover that Mae is behind the murders and is seeking revenge. Osha and Sol chase Mae to Khofar where Jedi Master Kelnacca has isolated himself in a forest, in an attempt to apprehend her and prevent another murder. Mae finds Kelnacca already killed by lightsaber, and is confronted by Sol and his team. Qimir reveals himself as the Stranger, the powerful force user that has been training Mae, and fights Sol's entire team. He states that the Jedi might call him "Sith" and that he intends to kill them all to keep his existence a secret. Qimir kills all the Jedi but Sol, who overpowers him but is saved by Osha who attaches a light to Qimir so that a colony of umbramoths carries him away. Mae uses Osha's stun gun on Sol so they can talk, but the two disagree about one another's choices after the fire on Brendok that killed their coven. The two fight, ending with Mae knocking Osha unconscious by throwing her backward with the Force and stealing her clothes to impersonate Osha. Mae goes with Sol and Osha is taken by Qimir. Sol works out that Mae has gone in Osha's place, and Qimir discusses his philosophy of the Force with Osha. Flashbacks show Osha deciding to leave the witch coven on Brendok to become a Jedi, and Mae setting their room on fire with Osha trapped inside in anger. We also see the coven fight against the Jedi which leads to the death of the witches in a close fight. On present day Brendok, a final confrontation occurs where Sol and Qimir face-off which results in a confession from Sol that he killed their mother, which enrages Osha causing her to grab his lightsaber, bleed the kyber crystal, and kill him with the Force. After this the sisters reconcile and Osha agrees to leave with Qimir to train, while Qimir wipes Mae's memory. Mae is collected by Jedi led by Venestra Rwoh, a senior member of the Jedi Order. Venestra blames the murders of Indara, Torbin, Kelnecca, and the witches of Brendok on Sol, despite the fact she senses Qimir's involvement. The series end with the revelation that Qimir was once Venestra's apprentice and Venestra reports to Jedi Master Yoda in the final scene.

Have you ever heard the sayings, "Patience is a virtue" or "Good things come to those who wait"? While those sayings have merit, patience is also key in the world of health and fitness. Unfortunately, there's really nothing out there that helps us overnight, but having patience and "exercising" patience plays in a major role in consistency, expectations, and delivering better outcomes. Let's dive in to today's episode to find out why! Catching Up with Your Hosts - 0:45 --> Take a breath and catch up with Jordan and Emily and find out what's going on in their lives. Introduction to Today's Episode - 2:15 --> Find out how patience, process, and progress plays a role into how we learn how to do new things (especially as an adult), including creating sustainable change in our body through practice and a shift in our mindset. How Progress Actually Happens - 7:37 --> Most people are confused on how progress occurs. We'll touch on this trap as well as deliver some insight as to how you can set yourself up for success through progress (not perfection). "You Must Unlearn What You Have Learned" - 10:05 --> Jedi Master Yoda was onto something when he said this. One of the major drawbacks to progress is when the person stands in his/her own way, usually through some form of assumed belief or thought. This is also where coaches can meet the most resistance. Tune in to find out more about how both coaches and clients can better understand this part of the process. #25 - “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” (1980) with Chris McMichen

It’s hard to imagine that in 1980 when audiences first crowded into theaters to watch the sequel to George Lucas’ unexpected blockbuster movie Star Wars, they would the first to ever see such iconic characters as Jedi Master Yoda, smuggler turned businessman Lando Calrissian, and Mandalorian turned bounty hunter Boba Fett. Fans would leave the theaters with three long years to wait for the next installment of the franchise, which was plenty of time to ponder whether or not that Darth Vader twist was the truth or a lie, and wonder if Han Solo would ever be freed from his carbonite prison. Four decades later, the questions we were left with have long been answered, but there’s still an enduring appeal to the middle chapter of the original trilogy. In fact, many fans still consider Episode 5 as their favorite film in the entire Star Wars franchise. So grab your lightsabers, check to make sure the Millennium Falcon’s hyperdrive motivator hasn’t been damaged, and then prepare to use the Force as Tim Williams and guest co-host Chris McMichen discuss “The Empire Strikes Back” on this episode of the 80’s Flick Flashback podcast! Here are some additional behind the scenes trivia we were unable to cover in this episode: When shooting on-location in Finse, Norway, a fierce snowstorm hit the hotel where the cast and crew were staying. This would have normally halted filming, but director Irvin Kershner thought these weather conditions were an excellent opportunity to film the scene where Luke wanders through the snow after escaping the Wampa cave. He did this by sending Mark Hamill outside into the cold, while he and the cameraman stayed and filmed inside the hotel's front hall. When Mark Hamill was having trouble with the Dagobah scenes with Yoda, Frank Oz brought in Miss Piggy to make him laugh. The light-saber fight scenes set in the carbon freezing chamber tend to focus on Luke. This is because during many of the shots, Bob Anderson (Vader's fight double) was not wearing the Darth Vader helmet, as it made it difficult for him to breathe. An earlier draft had Luke's reason for not leaving with Lando and Chewie at the end being that his Jedi training was more important. Believing that this would make Luke seem less sympathetic, Irvin Kershner had it changed to where Luke was still recovering from his injuries, and that rescuing Han would be his first priority once he was fully recovered. In another "Star Wars" themed episode Mark talks about one of his favourite "Star Wars" films: "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" - directed by Irvin Kershner and written by Leigh Blackett and Lawrence Kasdan, based on a story by George Lucas, which is set three years after the events of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" and centres around the Galactic Empire, led by Darth Vader, hunting down the Rebel Alliance, in particular Luke Skywalker - as well as Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca. This film is a seminal film in the "Star Wars" series of movies, as well as a revolutionary film in motion picture history, because of the way that it not only introduced new characters that have become important to the stories set in the "Star Wars" galaxy - such as Jedi Master Yoda, Lando Calarision, Boba Fett, and Emperor Palpatine - it also expanded upon the mythology of the original "Star Wars" film and set the standard for everything that still informs what "Star Wars" is to this day. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

And there is no gaming icon who is more recognizable — or who has done more to bring gaming to the front of the collective cultural mind. Pac-Man’s raison d’être is chomping dots. And Iwatani says food was central to the design of the character. As he thought about how to design a game that would attract female players, he thought about how much his wife loved to eat dessert. That verb — eat — began the thought process that led to the game. The original name for Pac-Man in Japan was Puck-Man. Midway Games, which distributed the title in the U.S., changed it to Pac-Man so vandals wouldn’t cut out part of the P to create something that didn’t fit in a family-friendly arcade. The name Puck came from the Japanese expression “puck puck” which loosely translates to “munch munch.” When Pac-Man made his debut on May 22, 1980, video games were largely considered a boy’s club. Creator Toru Iwatani, in a panel presentation at GDC 2011, said he wanted to create a game to change that. “The reason I created Pac-Man was because we wanted to attract female gamers,” he says. “People had to go to the arcade center to play games. That was a playground for boys. It was dirty and smelly. So, we wanted to include female players, so it would become cleaner and brighter.”22 May 2020 – Perfect Dark turns 20 - https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/perfect-dark-20-years-old-fans-want-new-game/Rare Ltd's Nintendo 64 classic Perfect Dark turned 20 years old. Released on May 22nd, 2000, the game was Rare's follow-up to GoldenEye 007. Rare originally intended to make another Bond game, but was outbid by Electronic Arts. Instead, Rare decided to develop their own franchise, introducing the world to protagonist Joanna Dark. The resulting game was a massive success, and a prequel was released on Xbox 360. Although critics widely praised its graphics, artificial intelligence, and number of multiplayer options, they frequently criticised its occasional frame rate drops. The game received the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Moving Images Award for 2000 and theGolden Satellite Award for Best Interactive Product in 2001. The game is occasionally cited as one of the greatest video games of all time. A remaster, also titled Perfect Dark, featuring enhanced graphics and online multiplayer, was released in 2010.22 May 2020 – Berlin WW2 bombing survivor Saturn the alligator dies in Moscow Zoo - https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-europe-52784240After hatching in Mississippi, Saturn was soon brought to Germany, residing at the Berlin Zoological Garden. It was here that his association with Adolf Hitler originated, as Hitler reportedly enjoyed visiting the zoo and especially liked the alligator. It was from this period that the popular rumor emerged that Saturn was Adolf Hitler's "pet". This may have originated with the author Boris Akunin, a Russian writer who hypothesized in an article that this may have been the case. In actuality, he was not Hitler's personal pet, as he was on public display at the zoo. However, some sources report his display at the zoo as being part of a personal menagerie of Hitler's, while Dmitry Vasilyev, a veterinarian at the Moscow Zoo, contends that while Saturn was not Hitler's pet, the two certainly came into contact, as Hitler was known to have visited the Berlin Zoo on occasion. During World War II, much of the Berlin Zoo was destroyed. Of the zoo's 16,000 animals, only 96 survived. When the aquarium building was destroyed by a bomb on 23 November 1943, 20 to 30 alligators and crocodiles were killed. Press reports documented that the streets near the aquarium were littered with alligator andcrocodile corpses, but that some, including Saturn, had survived and were wandering through the city in search of food. Saturn was discovered by British soldiers three years later. The British then gave the alligator to the Soviets in 1946. He lived at the Moscow Zoo until 22 May 2020, when he died of old age.23 May 2020 – Lost series finale turns 10 - https://observer.com/2020/05/lost-series-finale-the-end-jean-higgins-jeff-pinkner-damon-lindelof/The 10-year anniversary of its series finale, “The End,” was a grippingly divisive chapter in modern pop culture history. Although the final strokes of its conclusion were not set it stone when that pilot first aired, consideration to the endgame had always been brewing. To unpack how the series navigated the minefield of fan expectations while battling the network for direction, Lost‘s conclusion was rockier than most fans at home realized. From the very beginning of the show’s development, the Lost title was meant to have a double meaning. Yes, the characters themselves were physically lost in the world on this mysterious island. But, more crucially, they were each spiritually lost in their own lives. The show always tried to remain true to the characters and, by the end, to some spiritual outlook about life and our purpose. It also edged open new doors into its story even as the show approached its very end. Lost often felt artistically bold, but that didn’t come without drawbacks. “The End” polarized audiences deeply. Several critics named it among the worst series finales of all time, while others called it an underrated masterpiece. Regardless of the ongoing debate that still ensnares “The End,” Lost as a whole remains one of the most acclaimed television shows in history.Remembrances25 May 1939 – Sir Frank Watson Dyson - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Watson_DysonEnglish astronomer and Astronomer Royal who is remembered today largely for introducing time signals ("pips") from Greenwich, England, and for the role he played in proving Einstein's theory of general relativity. In 1928, he introduced in the Observatory a new free-pendulum clock, the most accurate clock available at that time and organised the regular wireless transmission from the GPO wireless station at Rugby of Greenwich Mean Time. He also, in 1924, introduced the distribution of the "six pips" via the BBC. Dyson was noted for his study of solar eclipses and was an authority on the spectrum of the corona and on the chromosphere. He is credited with organising expeditions to observe the 1919 solar eclipse at Brazil and Principe, which he somewhat optimistically began preparing for prior to the Armistice of 11 November 1918. Dyson presented his observations of the solar eclipse of May 29, 1919 to a joint meeting of the Royal Society and Royal Astronomical Society on 6 November 1919. The observations confirmed Albert Einstein's theory of the effect of gravity on light which until that time had been received with some scepticism by the scientific community. Dyson died on board a ship at the age of 71 while travelling from Australia to England in 1939 and was buried at sea.25 May 1981 – Ruby Payne-Scott - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_Payne-ScottRuby Violet Payne-Scott, Australian pioneer in radiophysics and radio astronomy, and was the first female radio astronomer. On 18 August 1941, Payne-Scott joined the Radiophysics Laboratory of the Australian government's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). During World War II, she was engaged in top secret work investigating radar technology, becoming Australia's expert on the detection of aircraft using Plan Position Indicator (PPI) displays. After the war, in 1948, she published a comprehensive report on factors affecting visibility on PPI displays. She also made important contributions to prototype radar systems operating in the 25cm microwave band, achieving significant improvements. Payne-Scott's expertise as both a physicist and an electrical engineer distinguished her among her colleagues, most of whom lacked a formal physics education. From 1946 to 1951, Payne-Scott focused on these 'burst' radio emissions from the sun, and is credited with discovering Type I and III bursts, and with gathering data that helped characterise Types II and IV. As part of this work, together with Alec Little, she designed and built a new 'swept-lobe' interferometer that could draw a map of solar radio emission strength and polarization once every second, and would automatically record to a movie camera whenever emissions reached a certain intensity. In 2018, the New York Times wrote a belated obituary for her, detailing how her work helped lay the foundation for a new field of science called radio astronomy. In 2008, CSIRO acknowledged Payne-Scott's contribution to science, and established the Payne-Scott Award, intended "for researchers returning from family-related career breaks". She died from complications of dementia at the age of 68 in Mortdale,New South Wales.25 May 1981 – Fredric Warburg - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fredric_WarburgFredric John Warburg, British publisher best known for his association with the author George Orwell. During a career spanning a large part of the 20th century and ending in 1971 Warburg published Orwell's Animal Farm as well as Nineteen Eighty-Four, and works by other leading figures such asThomas Mann and Franz Kafka. Other notable publications included The Third Eye by Lobsang Rampa, Pierre Boulle's The Bridge over the River Kwai, Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf and William Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Warburg started his publishing career in 1922, as an apprentice at Routledge & Sons, where he came under the tutelage of William Swan Stallybrass, a man he regarded as "the greatest scholar-publisher of his day". After Stallybrass died in 1931 Warburg became increasingly dissatisfied with Routledge and in 1935 he was dismissed. Later that year he and Roger Senhouse purchased the publishing firm of Martin Secker, which had gone into receivership, and renamed it Secker & Warburg. The firm became renowned for its independent left-wing position, being both anti-fascist and anti-Communist, which put it at loggerheads with many intellectuals of the time. He died from Congestive heart failure at the age of 82 in London.Famous Birthdays25 May 1865 – Pieter Zeeman - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieter_ZeemanPieter Zeeman, Dutch physicist who shared the 1902 Nobel Prize in Physics with Hendrik Lorentz for his discovery of the Zeeman effect. In 1896, shortly before moving from Leiden to Amsterdam, he measured the splitting of spectral lines by a strong magnetic field, a discovery now known as the Zeeman effect, for which he won the 1902 Nobel Prize in Physics. This research involved an investigation of the effect of magnetic fields on a light source. He discovered that a spectral line is split into several components in the presence of a magnetic field. The importance of Zeeman's discovery soon became apparent. It confirmed Hendrik Lorentz’s prediction about the polarization of light emitted in the presence of a magnetic field. Thanks to Zeeman's work it became clear that the oscillating particles that according to Lorentz were the source of light emission were negatively charged, and were a thousandfold lighter than the hydrogen atom. This conclusion was reached well before Thomson's discovery of the electron. The Zeeman effect thus became an important tool for elucidating the structure of the atom. He was born in Zonnemaire.25 May 1889 – Igor Sikorsky - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_SikorskyIgor Ivanovich Sikorsky, Russian–American aviation pioneer in both helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. His first success came with the S-2, the second aircraft of his design and construction. His fifth airplane, the S-5, won him national recognition as well as F.A.I. license number 64. HisS-6-A received the highest award at the 1912 Moscow Aviation Exhibition, and in the fall of that year the aircraft won for its young designer, builder and pilot first prize in the military competition at Saint Petersburg. After immigrating to the United States in 1919, Sikorsky founded the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in 1923, and developed the first of Pan American Airways' ocean-crossing flying boats in the 1930s. In 1939, Sikorsky designed and flew the Vought-Sikorsky VS-300, the first viable American helicopter, which pioneered the rotor configuration used by most helicopters today. Sikorsky modified the design into the Sikorsky R-4, which became the world's first mass-produced helicopter in 1942. He was born in Kiev.25 May 1944 – Frank Oz - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_OzFrank Richard Oznowicz, American actor, puppeteer, director and producer. He began his career as a puppeteer, performing the Muppet characters of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, and Sam Eagle in The Muppet Show; and Cookie Monster, Bert, and Grover in Sesame Street. He is also known for the role of Yoda in the Star Wars series, providing the voice for the character in several films and television series. His work as a director includes Little Shop of Horrors , Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Score and Death at a Funeral . Oz has performed as a Muppet performer in over 75 productions including Labyrinth, video releases, and television specials, as well as countless other public appearances, episodes of Sesame Street, and other Jim Henson series. His puppetry work spans from 1963 to the present, although he semi-retired from performing his Muppets characters in 2001. Oz is also known as the performer of Jedi Master Yoda from George Lucas' Star Wars series. Jim Henson had originally been contacted by Lucas about possibly performing Yoda. Henson was preoccupied and instead suggested Oz to be assigned as chief puppeteer of the character, as well as a creative consultant. Oz performed the puppet and provided the voice for Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back , Return of the Jedi , Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace , and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Oz had a great deal of creative input on the character and was himself responsible for creating the character's trademark syntax. He was born in Hereford,Herefordshire.Events of Interest25 May 1895 – Oscar Wilde arrested for indecency - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/oscar-wilde-is-sent-to-prison-for-indecencyWriter Oscar Wilde is sent to prison after being convicted of sodomy. The famed writer of Dorian Gray and The Importance of Being Earnest brought attention to his private life in a feud with Sir John Sholto Douglas, whose son was intimately involved with Wilde. Homosexuality was a criminal offense and serious societal taboo at this time in Britain. Wilde had gone back and forth between hiding his sexual orientation and attempting to gain some measure of public acceptance. At Wilde’s first criminal trial, he was cross-examined extensively on the “love that dare not speak its name.” Wilde managed to secure a mistrial when a lone juror refused to vote to convict. The second trial began on May 21. Although many of the potential witnesses refused to betray Wilde by testifying, he was convicted. The judge remarked at his sentencing, “It is the worst case I have ever tried. I shall pass the severest sentence that the law allows. In my judgment it is totally inadequate for such a case as this. The sentence of the Court is that you be imprisoned and kept to hard labor for two years.26 May 1897 – Dracula goes to sale in London - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/dracula-goes-on-sale-in-londonThe first copies of the classic vampire novel Dracula, by Irish writer Bram Stoker, appear in London bookshops on May 26, 1897. It earned him literary fame and became known as a masterpiece of Victorian-era Gothic literature. Written in the form of diaries and journals of its main characters, Dracula is the story of a vampire who makes his way from Transylvania—a region of Eastern Europe now in Romania—to Yorkshire, England, and preys on innocents there to get the blood he needs to live. Stoker had originally named the vampire “Count Wampyr.” He found the name Dracula in a book on Wallachia and Moldavia written by retired diplomat William Wilkinson, which he borrowed from a Yorkshire public library during his family’s vacations there. Vampires–who left their burial places at night to drink the blood of humans–were popular figures in folk tales from ancient times, but Stoker’s novel catapulted them into the mainstream of 20th-century literature. Late 20th-century examples of the vampire craze include the bestselling novels of American writer Anne Rice and the cult hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The 21st century saw the wildly popularTwilight film and book series.25 May 2010 – Fireball was released in Italy-https://www.scifihistory.net/may-25.html- https://www.betafilm.com/en/product/d/fireball.html- https://horrornews.net/559/film-review-fireball-2009/On this day in 2010 (in Italy), Fireball burned up the charts of the home video marketplace. Host Jeff Commings counts John Williams' score to "The Empire Strikes Back" as his all-time favorite, as does guest co-host Jim Nova. The two analyze the amazing Imperial March and its chord progression that gives it a sinister tone. They also talk about the amazing love theme and the music written for Jedi Master Yoda. Among their favorite scenes in the film is the chase through the asteroid field, comprising some of Williams' best music. That four minutes alone should have won Williams the Academy Award for Original Score, a sore point that Commings and Nova touch on in this episode. And do you think "The Empire Strikes Back" would make a great musical? We explore that possibility on this episode as well.

Top 5 Movies I enjoyed. first number 5. Forest Gump. Hanks is Forrest Gump, who despite being mentally challenged, tried hard, is honest and places his trust in luck. He tells his life story to anyone who sits next to him at a bus stop, and the flashbacks follow Forrest and his good heart through some of the highlights of modern American history. Through the use of digital imagery, Forrest appears to interact in scenes with John F. Kennedy, John Lennon and George Wallace. "Life is like a box of chocolates." Next movie 4. The Godfather. BRANDO IS DON VITO CORLEONE, THE SYMPATHETIC GODFATHER OF A NEW YORK CRIME FAMILY, WHOSE BUSINESS IT IS TO MAKE OFFERS PEOPLE CAN'T REFUSE. VISUALLY BEAUTIFUL AND IMAGES OF TIMES ANDLOCALES CONTRAST THE FILM'S GRAPHIC VIOLENCE. One favorite is number 3. Pulp Fiction. Critics and audiences worldwide hailed PULP FICTION as the star-studded picture that redefined cinema in the 20th Century! Writerdirector Quentin Tarantino (Academy Award) Winner of Best Original Screenplay, 1994) delivers an unforgettable cast of characters. including a pair of low-rent hit men (John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson), their boss's sexy wife (Uma Thurman), and a desperate prizefighter (Bruce Willis) in a wildly entertaining and exhilarating motion picture adventure that both thrills and amuses! All Star Wars movies I love number 2. Star Wars the empire strikes back. The Rebels scatter after the Empire attacks their base on the ice planet Hoth. Han Solo and Princess Leia are pursued by Imperials, while Luke trains with Jedi Master Yoda. Luke must battle Darth Vader and learns the shocking truth of his past. Number 1. The Dark Knight, Batman. The Dark Knight reunites Christian Bale with director Christopher Nolan and takes Batman across the world in his quest to fight a growing criminal threat known as The Joker. Now there are definitely a lot more movies that I would've like to add to this list but this is only the top five. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/roger-keyserling/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/roger-keyserling/support

So what do Superman, Captain America, Professor X, and Jesus Christ all have in common? According to the canonical accounts of their lives, each one has been raised from the dead. So why is it that, even in fiction, humans yearn for heroes who die and return to life? That’s one of the questions that apologist and bestselling author Timothy Paul Jones explores in this episode with cohost Garrick Bailey and guest Todd Miles. In the second half, Garrick and Timothy go digging for God’s truth in the music of Larry Norman, the father of Christian rock--and, as it turns out, someone that Garrick had never even heard about until recently. This week's dilemma from the Infinity Gauntlet leads to a deadly duel between Jedi Master Yoda and Gandalf the White. In this Episode Todd Miles, Ph.D. is professor of theology at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. He is the author of the B&H Academic titles Superheroes Can’t Save You (2018) and A God of Many Understandings? (2010). Questions to Discuss 1. In Infinity War, Rocket Raccoon asks Thor about his brother Loki who has just died. Thor’s reply is, “Well, he’s been dead before” which is a reminder of how frequently death is temporary in comic-book universes. What are some of the best comic-book resurrection stories? 2. Why is there a recurrent theme of sacrifice, death, and resurrection in the comic books? 3. How might the rise of secularity reshape superhero stories now and in the future? Atheist Richard Dawkins has defined faith as “a state of mind that leads people to believe something—it doesn’t matter what—in the total absence of supporting evidence.” But is the evidence for Christian faith really that weak? On this week's episode of Three Chords and the Truth: The Apologetics Podcast, Timothy and Garrick explore historical evidences for the resurrection of Jesus Christ; then, in the second half of the show, they take a look at the theology of “Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum. This week's question from the Infinity Gauntlet pits J.K. Rowling's Elder Wand in a battle to the death against J.R.R.Tolkien's One Ring. What Questions Do We Discuss in this Episode about Historical Evidences for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ? 1. How is it that Richard Dawkins can claim there is a “total absence of supporting evidence” for faith? 2. What are some of the ways that historians determine what claims about the past are most plausible? 3. What are the results when we apply these approaches to historical evidence that relates to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus? What Resources Do We Recommend? If you want to dig deeper into apologetics, one great place to start is Reasons for Our Hope by H. Wayne House and Dennis Jowers. To download a sample chapter, visit http://www.bhacademic.com  * N.T. So what do Superman, Captain America, Professor X, and Jesus Christ all have in common? According to the canonical accounts of their lives, each one has been raised from the dead. So why is it that, even in fiction, humans yearn for heroes who die and return to life? In the next episode, Timothy explores these questions with cohost Garrick Bailey and Western Seminary professor Todd Miles. In the second half of the program, Garrick and Timothy go digging for God’s truth in the music of Larry Norman, the father of Christian rock. This week's dilemma from the Infinity Gauntlet leads to a deadly duel between Jedi Master Yoda and Gandalf the White. Do You Have Any Questions? This episode marks the one year anniversary of the podcast, and it has been amazing. When we first started it was a little scary to think we would put this out to the world and people would actually want to listen. Now, as we approach 27000 downloads around the world, we wanted to look back at some major lessons for life and running. This past weekend we also took a family trip to Disney World. One of the best characteristics of Disney is that it is constantly growing and looking to improve. As they keep building, the walls of the construction area often contain a picture of Walt Disney and one of his inspiration quotes. We thought it would be interesting to look at the lessons of life and running through the lens of our Disney trip. The first lesson is based on a few quotes. “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” Walt Disney was a dreamer and a visionary, but he certainly did not spend all of his time dreaming. He spent most of his time intensely pursuing those dreams. When you have a dream and other suggest that it is a little crazy or far-fetched, you are the only one who can understand whether it is attainable. You control how hard you are willing to work toward that goal. The steps may not be huge, and it will not be a direct path from start to finish, but consistently working toward a goal will get you incredible places. As Disney said in one of Angie's favorites, “Never forget it started with a little mouse.” There is a lot of greatness to be done in the world, why can't you be the one doing the great things? Second, we move to a galaxy far, far away and gain some lessons from Jedi Master Yoda. While the quotes are amazing, the message is clear through all of the movies, and the Jedi training that our little ones went through on our trip. Fear and anger lead to the dark side. One of the biggest fears that people have is a fear of the unknown. There is zero assurance that things will go smoothly when you try something new, whether in parenting, business, podcasting, or running. However, it is only when you open yourself up to the possibility of failure that you can reach your potential. In a very telling moment of Jedi training, tiny Yoda lifts a huge spaceship and Luke Skywalker says “I don't believe it.” Yoda sadly sighs and responds “And that is why you failed.” We must have enough belief in ourselves and our preparation to take a leap of faith and risk failing. Third, with a couple of long car rides, staying at a hotel, and spending a long day in an amusement park, it is safe to say we did not have our normal schedule. The lesson here is that even in odd situations, healthy eating is possible, it just requires some planning. One of the biggest needs for healthy eating is to surround yourself with many healthy options. Rather than roll into the car ride and park with some granola bars and fingers crossed, we brought snacks like nuts, cheese slices with multigrain crackers, veggies and hummus, hardboiled eggs, and Angie's wonderful sweet potato cookies. Yes, is was a bit of a heavy cooler to carry around, but the food options were plentiful all day long. Also, exercising on vacation is possible if it matters to you. It takes some careful planning and prioritizing, especially when both parents are trying to fit in workouts and not wake up the kids with a loud hotel door, but it can work. At the same time, compromising to the situation around you is also needed. Pay attention to your overall health which includes sleep. You may need to shorten or adjust the intensity of the workout planned for that day. This may even happen mid-run as mine did, when I decided that my body had spent enough time on the treadmill after a whole day on my feet around the park. The last lesson is a major one for life. Sometimes it is not only ok, but absolutely necessary to just step back and enjoy what is happening. Trying to tie running and healthy eating into a busy life (not so subtle plug for the new artwork) can start to feel overwhelming at times. It's ok if it does not always work out perfectly. When the kids ask for ice cream at 5:30 and you know that's going to mess up dinner, step back and see that the joy on their faces is worth the lack of vegetables. When the kids are still bouncing off the walls two hours after bedtime, just smile and know that they are making memories of a trip that will last for years to come. You hear a lot of people talk about finding the right balance in life, but there is never a true balance, there is a time for focus and a time to relax. Enjoy both and enjoy your life. Returning to the very first episode of the series, Josh reviews a Yoda-centric episode taking place shortly after the events of “Supply Lines” from Season 3. After Toydaria conspires with the Republic to provide aid to Ryloth, King Katuunko proposes a meeting between him and Jedi Master Yoda to discuss an alliance. Their meeting is thwarted, however, by Count Dooku and his apprentice, Asajj Ventress. Yoda is forced into a battle versus a battalion of battle droids with only the help of three clone troopers: Jek, Thyre, and Rys. While this episode is a fun introduction to action elements, and gives us a picture of inter-galactic political maneuvering, the core of the episode is Yoda’s sheer awesomeness. Both as a leader and a fighter, few can match the prowess of everyone’s favorite little green Jedi. Make sure to catch the episode and let us know what you think of the very first non-theatrical, aired episode of The Clone Wars.

Sean Comer and Mark Radulich put The Empire Strikes Back, On Trial! The Empire Strikes Back (also known as Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back) is a 1980 American epic space opera film directed by Irvin Kershner. Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan wrote the screenplay, with George Lucas writing the film's story and serving as executive producer. The second installment in the original Star Wars trilogy, it was produced by Gary Kurtz for Lucasfilm and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, David Prowse, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew, and Frank Oz. The film is set three years after Star Wars. The Galactic Empire, under the leadership of the villainous Darth Vader and the Emperor, is in pursuit of Luke Skywalker and the rest of the Rebel Alliance. While Vader relentlessly pursues the small band of Luke's friends—Han Solo, Princess Leia Organa, and others—across the galaxy, Luke studies the Force under Jedi Master Yoda. When Vader captures Luke's friends, Luke must decide whether to complete his training and become a full Jedi Knight or to confront Vader and save them. Following a difficult production, The Empire Strikes Back was released on May 21, 1980. It received mixed reviews from critics initially but has since grown in esteem, becoming the most critically acclaimed chapter in the Star Wars saga; it is now widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. The film ranks #3 on Empire's 2008 list of the 500 greatest movies of all time

Welcome back to The Real Brian Show! We've got a great lineup for you today, including special appearances from author Lee Stephen and Jedi Master Yoda. In This Episode Thanksgiving is over. Now... Christmas! Coffee & tea recommendations. An amazing "unleash your superhero" moment! TV News: DC Shows crossing over this week, Arrow's 100th Episode Tony drops in to talk video games and review the new sci-fi movie Arrival A general observation of people ignoring driving and traffic laws!! Lee Stephen joins! Want to know the inspiration for his books? My Own Harmony "...The code is more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules." -- Captain Barbossa Pirates of the Caribbean In this week's episode of The Real Brian Show, there are a couple conversations about rules. It's interesting the way all these conversations came together, because it really draws out the dilemma we see on a broad scale in modern culture. On the one hand, we have rules that are meant to protect us. Laws that are put in place to try and get everyone on the same page, such as traffic laws. Stop lights, stop signs, speed limits, they're put in place to try and make people cautious and aware of the fact that they're driving a several hundred pound metal contraption that could instantly cause their death if mishandled. On the other side, there are rules put into place that sort of establish a "status quo". They define how things can be done, but do not produce the same outcomes for everyone. When you disobey a traffic law, it puts your own life and other lives at risk and effectively breaks an operational paradigm. But when you disobey a law like, oh, how to record an audiobook, it can lead to ground-breaking success. Lee Stephen joins Brian in this episode for a conversation that will really have you thinking about the value in leaving rules behind in favor of paving your own way. When it comes to finding a niche, finding success, Brian has done nothing but fight against the status quo! And we desperately need people like Brian and Lee to defy those odds in order to continue to produce good, new, unique content. Part of the problem between the two sides of rule-breaking I've outlined, I think, is semantics. The English language has been rendered inert in so many critical aspects of conversation that we don't, and thus can't, reserve words for their pure intent. We use "monsters" to describe spiders and politicians; we use the phrase "who's your daddy?" to assert dominance or to literally ask who our father is; and we use "rules" to refer to instructions, guidelines, figures of speech, technique, or laws. In order to really understand what people mean, we have to have conversations. Which is not a bad thing, but it's hard to get those conversations going and, then, hard to get deeply ingrained idealisms to separate after years and years of coagulation. Can you see where some people get the wrong idea about rule breaking? We teach kids, at very young ages, to sit still, listen to the teacher, don't talk when you're not supposed to, don't argue when you're supposed to be listening, and to regurgitate information on tests. Then, 15 years later when they throw their hats in the air, move on from college into the real world, they're suddenly supposed to have a mind of their own, come up with their own ideas and challenge the status quo. We want people to obey the laws that keep them safe, but the code of conduct... it's just guidelines. Personally, I believe that because we don't use a lot of words the way they're meant to be used, and abuse educational institutions for behavioral correction, we lose a lot of structure in being able to communicate to kids, when they're most impressionable, the difference between the laws of physics and the laws of the road or the laws of the classroom. p = mv... do you disagree? Preventing children from behaving like children, preventing riled up little boys from behaving like the bundles of energy they are, we're raising a generation of kids who want to break rules. And that mindset permeates the barriers of physics, of the classroom, and of the road. Links Lee Stephen @epicuniverse Epic Universe
