In this episode of Author to Author, Dr. Cynthia Toolin-Wilson interviews David Clayton on his book The Vision For You: How to Discover the Life You Were Made For.The Vision for You is the name of a process by which we, who have been through it, discovered our true calling in life – what we call our ‘personal vocation.' Through this process we discovered the Great Fact – that we have a choice in life. We can choose to be happy or to be miserable. The goal is to be happy and to become, more and more, the people we were meant to be. We aim to lead a life that is a good, true, and beautiful path to a better life. We call this path the Way of Beauty. I believe that anyone who has a sense that their lives ought to be more fulfilled can benefit from this book if they are prepared to follow its directions as best they can. This book is a description of the transformation of life through a set of spiritual exercises called the Vision for You – it is a structured ‘process,' or ‘program,' of prayer, reflection, and good works. You don't have to be Catholic, or even Christian for this process to work – you just need to be open-minded enough to do what is suggested. The principles in this book come from the ancient tradition of Western spirituality going right back to the Church Fathers. You don't need to accept the Christian understanding of why it works in order for it to work. You just need to take the actions it describes and be willing to believe that there is a God. In other words, act as though he exists regardless of whether you believe it. https://www.amazon.com/Vision-You-Discover-Life-Were/dp/1980665230Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/author-to-author--4129285/support.

Only God is great – and it's because of His glory and grace. This past Sunday, Pastor Steven Gibbs continued in our new message series, Awakening: Step into the Life You Were Made For.  He unpacked what it means to awaken to the greatness of God as he went through the throne room scene in Isaiah 6:1-7. We might not reject God, but we do reduce Him, and the Bible makes it clear that He alone is high and lifted up. Because of His glory, life revolves around God – not us.  “In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said:  “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.” Isaiah 6:1-7 We might not reject God, but we will reduce Him. Where am I “successful”? How have I reduced God? Because of God's glory, life revolves around God … not us. Because of God's glory, He is worthy of worship. What gets my attention? Because of God's glory, God is goodMoses said, “Please show me your glory.” And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name ‘The Lord.'  Exodus 33:18-19 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6 Do I live like God is good? God is great because of His Grace. Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

That is, until Brit met Sami, a woman who changed, saved, and transformed her entire life. Brit decided to leave the church, get married to Sami, and come out. “So many people know who they want to be. They know what they want. And there’s just a fear loop keeping them from getting there.” - Brit BarronWhat do you do when you have a nagging feeling that you’re not living the life you are meant to? Brit Barron grew up in an Evangelical church, even rising to become a pastor. Her world changed when she fell in love with a woman. After navigating the challenge of coming out, Brit realized that many other people also struggle with giving themselves the freedom to pursue what they truly want. Today on Rock Your Joy, we’re discussing the importance of allowing ourselves the freedom to be who we want without the worry of what others think.Listen to the episode and check out Brit’s new book, Worth It: Overcome Your Fears and Embrace the Life You Were Made For, and give yourself the grace to leave the fears that are not serving you behind.(02:36) - Free & true(05:56) - Worth It(06:57) - Getting to the other side(13:46) - Open to change(16:35) - Back to busyness(18:35) - Understanding Racism 101(25:24) - How is Brit cultivating joy?(29:15) - Forthcoming children's bookBrit Barron is a speaker, teacher, and author. She is a natural connector and steps onto stages to address areas of personal development, race, gender, and sexuality. She was boxed in by her fears, unable to realize her full potential. All that changed when she met a woman named Sami, fell in love, and chose to leave behind those narrow boundaries in favor of a fuller and more vibrant life. Brit’s first book, Worth It: Overcome Your Fears and Embrace the Life You Were Made For, launched in July of 2020. In Worth It, Brit tells her story to inspire all of us to overcome our own fears— the kinds of fears that keep us from evolving beyond the narratives that have been handed to us by others. Aine Rock is an artist, entrepreneur, mom and High Performance Coach working on becoming the best version of herself and inspiring others to do the same. BUSINESS BUILDING INSIGHTSIf you figure out how you got stuck, it provides understanding on how to turn it around. Women wait to take action until they feel confident. In truth, confidence comes from having the courage to act. Confidence also comes from doing things you’re scared to do. You can do hard things and it won't break you. You can move past overwhelm into clarity and joy. Staying with stuck people keeps you stuck too. Live for something bigger than yourself. Today I am speaking with author, speaker, influencer, and coach Jennifer Allwood about her #1 bestselling book 'Fear Is Not the Boss of You: How to Get Out of Your Head and Live the Life You Were Made For'. If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or scared in any way, shape, or form then this is the book for you. (And really who isn't in some regard??) Jennifer will not only help you recognize if fear is stealing from you, but will also saddle up like a loving bff and show you how to fix it. A mix of life experience, divine wisdom, and biblical truths, this book is exactly what you need if you know you were made for more but just can't seem to push through the fear, ‘stuck-ness', or uncertainty to get there. I hope you love listening to this convo as much as I loved having it. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/graceover40/message

This week on Real Talk with Rachael we’re talking to Jennifer Allwood. Jennifer is a passionate cheerleader of women who adds Biblical truth to the modern-day “dream big” mantra. She’s the author of Fear Is Not the Boss of You: How to Get Out of Your Head and Live the Life You Were Made For and host of The Jennifer Allwood Show which holds a regular spot in the Top 25 Entrepreneurship Podcasts in the world with 1.5 million downloads. Her no-nonsense approach to doing things you are scared to do and saying yes to God is helping women everywhere build the life and business of their dreams. When she’s not coaching her nearly 3,000 clients each month, she’s spending time with her husband Jason and their four children. Today we're talking about: Knowing where your fear comes from can help you get to the next step of solving it. Spiritual resistance is common when dealing with fears, Jennifer’s book shows how to deal with that. “Imposter syndrome” often begins when you start a business. Who is teaching our kids how to be brave when they’re scared? It has to come down to the parents. You’re capable of being scared and doing it anyway. “I can do hard things and not die.” “Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” John Wayne Courage is the new confidence “Courage says you may not know what you’re doing but you’ll try it anyway.” Don’t forget to text the phrase “RealTalkGiveaway” to the number 44222 to be entered to win giveaways from show guests and sponsors! Getting started is not based on how “good” you are or how young you are or how wise you are (although, that definitely helps). It is not even based on how able you are. When God calls you to start, He takes you just as you are, right now. You don’t have to wait for that “magical” time whether it be January or a Monday or some other fairy-tale hour. You do not even have to be comfortable.  In fact, what you’re planning on doing might seem near impossible. Most times, getting started on something entirely new will stretch you. Listen in on how Amy moved past her negative self-labels to finally do the one thing she challenged herself in 2019. Healthy Eights are great friends, exceptional leaders and champions of those who cannot fight on their own behalf. They have the intelligence, courage and stamina to do what others say can't be done. And, as with most Enneagram Eights, Jo Saxton is full of Eight's life-giving energy so when she was available for our podcast, I jumped at the chance to interview her. When healthy, Eights learn to open their hearts like a healthy Two. And today, Jo shares how she peeled back the layers, let down her defenses and got in touch with their inner heart. Listen in as we discuss healing broken identities and using the Enneagram as a tool for breaking through the junk that we accumulate and that confuses us from seeing who we truly are. And at the end of the show,  Jo Saxton shares some tips for Eights who are just beginning to do their work and how they can begin to grow beyond their broken identity, or their broken personality, into their best self. A few things about Jo...she's a really popular leadership trainer. She's an international speaker. She's a best-selling author. She's passionate about seeing God transform lives across the globe. I mean, she's been featured at conferences like If, Catalyst, Thrive, Propel.  She also chairs the board of international discipleship organization called 3D Movements, and cohosts the Lead Stories podcast. Her latest book, The Dream of You: Let Go of Broken Identities and Live the Life You Were Made For is set to release on January 23, 2018. For more information on Jo, visit www.josaxton.com
