The dynamic guard scored 16 points in the first quarter to give the Trail Blazers a 31-18 lead, and they had little trouble keeping a comfortable margin against a banged-up and slumping team for most of the night. Detroit pulled within six points with 1:39 left to fire up the previously quiet fans, and Jerami Grant quieted them with a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession. Grant finished with 26 points against his former team. Former Kalamazoo Central and University of Michigan player Isaiah Livers matched a career high with 17 points for the Pistons, who have lost a season-high eight straight games. Sixers 147, Pacers 143 – Embiid scores 42, Sixers beat Pacers 147-143 without much D Joel Embiid scored 42 points, James Harden added 14 points, 20 assists and nine rebounds, and the Philadelphia 76ers pulled away late for a 147-143 victory over the Indiana Pacers in a game virtually devoid of defense. Embiid made 11 of 16 field goals and all 19 free-throw attempts. Tyrese Maxey scored 24 points and Jalen McDaniels added 20 for the 76ers, who have won two straight. Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 40 points and 16 assists. Neither team led by more than six points through the first three quarters. The Sixers finally took control with a late 10-0 run. It's tough not to adore Nathan Long, the restaurateur behind Nate's on Marsh in San Luis Obispo. He is warm, welcoming, and personable. You know how restaurants always say that they treat their guests like family? That really is the case at Nate's. I interviewed him at the restaurant because the interior of the place is just remarkable. Picture a cross between a 70s-era country club, a spaghetti Western and a Ralph Lauren ad — all covered in emerald colored wallpaper. I know, I know: it makes no sense and yet when you see it, it works indisputably well. We talked about Nathan's upbringing here in San Luis Obispo, his background in agriculture, and his affinity for a meatball and a Manhattan. Website: natesonmarsh.com Instagram: @natesonmarsh
Dr. Nathan Long is the president of Saybrook University. With 25 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Long oversees all strategic and operational aspects of the university. He holds a Doctorate and Masters of Education in interdisciplinary studies. Saybrook University is an online, private, non-profit graduate university and the premier institution for humanistic scholarship and practice. Founded by luminary psychologists, for 50 years, Saybrook has offered advanced degrees, currently offering programs in psychology, integrative medicine and health sciences, business administration, counseling, and transformative social change. The institution is committed to helping students develop as whole individuals– mind, body, and spirit – and to relentlessly pursuing a more socially just and sustainable world. With low residency requirements for master's and doctoral degrees, students can earn an online graduate degree and meet their personal and professional needs as adult learners servicing their communities. Highlights: “We are a humanistically focused institution of higher learning with an emphasis on social justice and sustainability.” [10:55] Dr. Long talked a bit about Saybrook's mission and how the university uses love to support its students and alumni. This all stems from a desire to help, and you can hear the passion in Dr. Long's voice. “The humanistic psychologist is not saying ‘here's what I'm going to do to fix you'.” [17:23] We discussed humanistic psychology and how Saybrook puts that methodology at the core of its operations. According to the humanistic approach, the therapist doesn't just label the patient and try to change them. Instead, the therapist and the individual are on a journey together. Each person is different, so applying labels isn't entirely helpful. According to Dr. Long, the principles of humanistic psychology thread through almost every other discipline. Alumni can take lessons learned from Saybrook into virtually any career they choose. Dr. Long went on to discuss a few alumni success stories. He talked about how Saybrook's humanistic ideas and philosophy can be applied to executive and leadership success. As Dr. Long says: “We're not here to judge you.” Saybrook teaches that the therapist's mission is to help the individual, not judge them. Leaders and therapists alike should identify what a person wants out of life, rather than label them with a disorder or diagnosis. We talked a little bit about leadership, and Dr. Long made the point that “if you're not present, you're going to be less effective as a leader.” [32:33] One of the top qualities of being an effective leader is simply being present. Dr. Long also stressed the importance of being “open to the journey, the possibility, and the prospects.” [36:28] It's critical to approach situations or leadership roles with an open mind. “I lead with love… by celebrating our team here at Saybrook.” [37:45] We finished with these words by Dr. Long. He talked about how he puts love in action at Saybrook. Resources Saybrook University: https://www.saybrook.edu/

What are the best ways REALTORS® can be planning for their financial futures? President of Quest Trust Company Nathan Long joins Alex and Jeff in the studio to talk about investing and planning for retirement.
Finding success alone in real estate is not how it works, most especially in this time and age of connectivity. That is why coming together in one place to network and, at the same time, learn is a beneficial opportunity to grab. One great example of that is an expo, and Nathan Long, the President of Quest Trust Company, shares in this episode their Self-Directed IRA Expo. Bringing in investors, lenders, and borrowers in this event, Nathan talks about the value of having a venue to separate your obligations and duties and just build relationships with others in the industry. He shares some great investing, laying down the problem most people do in self-directing. Don't miss out on more wealth-building insights and stories about private leading and cross-collateralization as Keith Baker and Nathan start you up on some education. — Listen to the podcast here: Nathan Long on Self-Directed IRA Expo, Private Lending, And More I have the distinct pleasure of interviewing the President of https://www.questtrustcompany.com/ (Quest Trust Company), Mr. Nathan Long. Speaking of the Quest Trust Company, they are the sponsor of this episode and we’re a few days away from their Self-Directed IRA Expo. It’s an extravaganza. 2018 was a top-notch event held in Dallas, about 500 attendees came in and attended two days. This 2019, they're going to do three days and they’re expecting about 1,000 if not more. I know tickets are going fast. If you do want to get your tickets and get a 25% discount, go to http://privatelenderpodcast.com/expo (PrivateLenderPodcast.com/expo). There will be a promo code and a link that you can get a 25% off your ticket, your admission, if they still have them. Go check that out. I know they were selling like hotcakes. Back to Nathan Long. He’s the President of Quest Trust and has put on a great expo. We’re going to talk about that here. I do want to forewarn warn you that I had this great interview already mapped out and bullet-pointed and all this stuff that I was going to talk to Nathan about. All of that went out the window and we ended up shooting the breeze so to speak. Let’s get down to the brass tacks and get to the interview with Nathan Long. — I’m honored to have Nathan Long. He’s the President of https://www.questtrustcompany.com/ (Quest Trust Company). Nathan, welcome to the Private Lender Podcast. Thanks for coming on. I appreciate you having me. You’re going to be the last interview episode before the big Quest Expo. Let’s go ahead and talk about the 800-pound gorilla in the room and what a great event the https://www.questtrustcompany.com/events/quest-expo-2019-houston/ (Self-Directed IRA Expo) is. It’s so cool to hear that. When the girls came to me and said, “We want to hold one of these expos.” I told them, “No. We’re not doing that. We’re not in the expo business. That’s not what we do. We help other educators. I don’t want to feel like I’m in competition with people that are selling coaching or education.” They looked at me and said, “We’re doing it.” I said, “If you want to do this, then I have one rule. Every ticket you get, every vendor money that you get goes back into the expo. It’s a zero-profit point for Quest,” and then so many people showed up. They're so happy. I think it's because it got this momentum and the speakers got better and they got so excited. More people come and then they would add another thing or add this, they’ve constantly kept it exciting right up to the end. I know they had a little app that people were still on that app communicating months afterwards about deals and stuff and making deals on it. It was cool. I’m proud of them. They did a bang-up job last 2018. I consider myself lucky having had a table and being on a panel and being able to talk. That was fun. It was a lot bigger than I expected. I got a...
