This week, MDV and Gabe go deep on the current state of CrossFit—what's working, what's changing, and what's getting heavy. From 570 lb. back squats at the Games to the debate over whether Tia is the GOAT (of all CrossFit, not just the women's side), this episode covers it all. They also break down the stress of training for the leaderboard, the role of unpredictability in CrossFit, and how the TRAIN HARD App is taking a different approach—one that prioritizes long-term consistency, minimal stress, and training you actually enjoy.Episode Breakdown:0:00 Jason shows up at your job and makes you do burpees2:48 Why men and women are equally valued in the CrossFit Games universe5:00 Lowering the hoop in the WNBA?6:59 Is Tia the GOAT of CrossFit?12:05 “She's not the nicest”—but were any GOATs there to make friends?15:25 Is CrossFit making a comeback?17:22 MDV's apology and Instagram's limited view of reality21:00 Colton Mertens back squats 570 lbs. at the CrossFit Games24:05 This is really “forging elite fitness”27:20 Is “the unknown and unknowable” helping or hurting?29:37 A test of fitness or a war of attrition?32:00 Should we remove some unpredictability from the sport?34:00 Ben Bergeron turns off the comments—are we all just doing CrossFit?37:01 The positive legacy of CrossFit38:11 Ben Bergeron's “new way forward” and CompTrain rebrand41:00 CrossFit's impact—both good and obsessive45:05 MDV's NEW PROGRAM on the TRAIN HARD App47:40 The scoreboard and the clock created pressure50:00 How often should you train at 100% intensity? One of America's growing problems is the openness of antisemites to bring their evil message to the public square. It's bad enough there are antisemites in the nation. But the fact they have been so open with their antisemitism on college campuses in recent months points to a bigger concern: where is this headed? If the antisemitism isn't nipped in the bud and countered with truth, then it won't be long before America turns against its greatest friend in the Middle East -- Israel. Pete Peterson, dean of public policy at Pepperdine University, talks about a new college-level course that teaches the next generation of leaders how to advance foreign affairs that doesn't harm Israel and harm America, and that is based on biblically sound truths.

Pedestrian fatalities tend to rise nationwide over the summer months, and Louisiana consistently ranks among the top 10 states with the highest numbers. Capitol access reporter Brooke Thorington spoke with Greg Fischer, spokesperson of the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, about how pedestrians and drivers can better follow safety protocols. The shortage of healthcare professionals — in particular, nurses — has been a perennial problem. But one nursing program in New Orleans is combating this issue by catering to working professionals and non-traditional students.University of Holy Cross president, Dr. Stanton McNeely, and chair of the Department of Nursing, Dr. Kristy Solis, tell us how they are aiming to make their program more available for more students. This summer on Louisiana Considered, we are airing stories from “What Was Lost,” a series from Verite News that examines the emotional and physical costs of Hurricane Katrina. Longtime New Orleans journalist Mark Schleifstein had been reporting on the potential for disastrous flooding. In a bitterly ironic twist, the journalism awards he earned for this coverage were destroyed by the 2005 storm that he had predicted. —-Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Adam Vos. Travis Richie has a very unique story. In spite of growing up in a single parent home, his young life was good. Showing a propensity for numbers and finance, he found himself deep and successful in that field. An oversight in his venture capital world found him in prison in Arizona, where his perceptions of the incarcerated community took an immediate turn. During his 15 months down, he became a bit of an instructor, helping his fellow inmates learn successful financial skills. His booklet, Don't Buy a Cheeseburger with a Credit Card, has developed into the largest non-governmental, non-profit organization serving the incarcerated population. Currently, his program is in over 1,300 prisons across the United States. Like me, only on a grander scale, he has drank the Kool-Aid of the necessity of prison reform. If you're interested in creating change and growth, you will love his story.
