In today's episode of the SHE Talks Health podcast, we're getting to the bottom of why weight struggles aren't always about the things we're eating. I know so many of us struggle with our relationship with food and our bodies. If you've ever felt frustrated, confused, or even hopeless about your eating habits or weight, this episode will offer you some hope and understanding. I'm thrilled to share my conversation with the incredible Jiordana Sadde, a clinical nutritionist and food psychology expert who knows just how hard our relationship with food can be at times. During our conversation, Jiordana shares her experience with childhood obesity and eating disorders and how she finally found true peace with food. She helps us understand that our struggles aren't our fault — they often stem from subconscious programming that started in childhood. You'll learn why simply knowing what's "healthy" often isn't enough to change our behaviors, and how our thoughts and emotions profoundly impact our body's response to food. Jiordana's insights might just help you see your relationship with food in a whole new light.I hope this conversation offers you some comfort and practical steps forward if you're struggling with food noise, limiting beliefs around food, self-sabotage, or anything that's keeping you stuck in a frustrating cycle. Remember, your worth is not tied to your weight or what you eat. You deserve peace and freedom around food, and Jiordana is proof that it is possible.Disclaimer: This information is being provided to you for educational and informational purposes only. Have you ever stopped to notice what you're actually thinking and saying about yourself to yourself? This was a foreign concept for me for years. I had no idea that the crummy thoughts I had about myself, and the even crummier story I was telling myself was *optional*. I would recite that story over and over like it was the truth. Ironically, this led to me engaging in behaviors and habits which only reinforced the negative self-concept I had. Once I learned the power of our mind and our thinking over our lives, things began to change for me in my life. I began to show up differently in my marriage, my family, social interactions. I started putting myself out there for even bigger risks and goals. We think the way we feel in and about our lives, marriages, kids, bodies, etc is a result of those things--so we wish, and hope and work to make those life circumstances different. Instead, its' merely the story we tell over and over and over again. If we change the story, we change the way we show up, our experiences of those things, and ultimately our results and our lives. If you look at problems in the dark with a spotlight, you'll only treat what you see and totally miss the other problems that are underlying but totally out of view. She has a new book: Rock Your Midlife: 7 Steps to Transform Yourself and Make Your Next Chapter Your Best Chapter. We tackle the difficult subject of the 'psychology of food.' Dr. Ellen explains how psychology - the study of mind and behavior affects the body and how food impacts psychology. 'We are made of cells, and those cells are made of the food we eat.' - Dr. Ellen. To help change behaviors about food, you need to understand what's driving the behavior. Food choices are rarely about the food itself. What's the biggest challenge??(We must) embrace who we are and to love ourselves exactly as we are. -Dr. EllenIt's hard to change a body we hate, so we tend to medicate with food. This creates a vicious cycle involving shame and hiding. Who wants to do something that makes you feel like you're losing? This is what drives the multi-million dollar 'diet culture', which rarely imparts lasting change. Join us as we teach you how to really change, how to tap into your caring and compassion hormone - oxytocin, which is more likely to help you create lasting change, rather than relying on your pleasure receptor - dopamine.Dr. Ellen is a wealth of knowledge. Last night was the new moon in Taurus, a new moon represents a time to relax and recharge. It's a time in our life to refocus and allow the transformations of life to take place. Relinquish that control! On this episode, I also discuss what I call “food psychology” and how important it is to understand our eating habits and why we do the things the way we do. Food is meant to be enjoyed and not meant to be labeled as “good” or “bad”. Balance and self-love are the most significant keys in forming healthy habits. I'll be sharing what I do to better understand my own relationship with food and what I do to continue daily self-care. With any habit we wish to change it's important to stay consistent and have that daily practice so that we can ultimately transform and rebirth into what we want. We are the ever growing caterpillar that constantly morphs into many butterflies in our lifetime. There will be constant cycles, as the ebb and flow and it's important to embrace the ride. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Are you savage to yourself? Or, are you nurturing? Which one of these has been effective… either or none? A surprisingly unique approach to binge eating is going deep into your reptilian brain and speaking like our core evolutionary driver should be spoken to: directly and savagely. As discussed in today’s episode, with a psychologist that has been deep in this exact challenge before, the self love movement doesn’t quite capture everyone in their quest to curb a detrimental relationship with high sugar and high carb foods and there is a reason for that: the reptilian brain, by definition, does not contain love and so for many self love is simply the wrong tool. This was a superb deep dive into the function of our brain and emotions and is loaded with tips and tricks to facilitate your transformation, so if that sounds good listen in all the way to the end as we touch on some tools specifically relevant to this current and unique chapter in history. In Today’s Episode We Cover:Brain function and being the alphaHow to disempower the motivators of your inner pigTools to improve your eating behaviours, particularly during an existential crisis***Join the Facebook Group Here: https://bit.ly/IntermittentFastingForHealth***--SOCIAL MEDIA--Glenn LivingstonWebsite: https://www.neverbingeagain.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingstonglenn/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NeverBingeAgain/Other: https://twitter.com/NeverBingeAgain--MATTY LANSDOWNInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mattylansdown/Join the Facebook Group Here: https://bit.ly/IntermittentFastingForHealthWebsite: https://mattylansdown.com/--Got a question? Joni who struggled binge and emotional eating, falsely thought that she was the only one who couldn't stick to a diet and for years believed she could achieve happiness through external things. Luke was born in Papua New Guinea and cut his teeth in the kitchens of Barcelona, before taking on some of Australia's finest and most exclusive restaurants. The most exclusive of all was the Sanctuary at Byron Bay, one of the world's top rehabilitation facilities and programs. It was here that Luke learned about the link between food and the mind, and developing meals that heal the soul. His explanation of food psychology is fascinating. Luke has become somewhat of a kitchen counsellor. He has worked with struggling youth and helped them gain a sense of value and self-respect. It's particularly interesting when restaurant kitchens are known as stressful, intense and often brutal environments, and we don't often think about leadership and culture in this context. Luke talks about his own leadership approach and the dynamics of his team. Luke has an amazing story filled with great insights .. enjoy.
