In this episode of That Annuity Show, Paul Tyler, Bruno Caron, and Ramsey Smith discuss the importance of reaching more people in the annuity industry with their products. They are joined by Sri Reddy, Sri Reddy, senior vice president of Retirement and Income Solutions at Principal® and a Principal Securities Registered Representative, who shares insights on retirement income solutions, pension risk transfer, and the evolving landscape of defined benefit plans. The conversation delves into consumer behavior regarding annuities, the rise of registered indexed linked annuities (RILAs), and strategies to address longevity risk. Sri also highlights the role of research from the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI) in understanding retirement behaviors and outcomes. Learn more: thatannuityshow.com    Important Information: Principal Custody Solutions assets under administration (AUA) were nearly $1 trillion as of December 31, 2023. Before investing in registered index-linked annuities, investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the contract and underlying investment options. This and other information is contained in the free prospectus which can be obtained from your local representative or online at principal.com. Please read the prospectus and, if available, the summary prospectus carefully before investing.  Investment and insurance products are: · Not Insured by the FDIC or Any Federal Government Agency · Not a Deposit or Other Obligation of, or Guaranteed by Principal Bank or Any Bank Affiliate · Subject to Investment Risks, Including Possible Loss of the Principal Amount Invested  Registered Index Linked Annuities do not directly participate in any stock, equity investments or index. It is not possible to invest directly in an index.  Investing involves risk, including the possible loss of principal. IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS Index-linked deferred annuity contracts are complex insurance and investment vehicles. This contract is a security and there is a risk of substantial loss of principal and earnings. The risk of loss may be greater when early withdrawals are taken due to any charges and adjustments applied to such withdrawals. These charges and adjustments may result in loss even when the value of a segment option has increased. Clients should consult with a financial professional about the appropriateness of this product based on their financial situation and objectives. There is risk that this segment interim value could be less than the original premium payment even if the applicable index has been performing positively. The buffer or floor rate provides limited protection. There is a possibility of a significant amount of loss of the total premium payment, credited interest and prior earnings. In the index-linked segment options it is possible that the total loss could be 100%. If clients choose to allocate amounts to an index-linked segment option subject to a cap rate, that rate limits the positive index change, if any, that may be credited to the annuity for a given segment term. The participation rate limits the positive index change, if any, that may be credited to the annuity for a given segment term. It is possible to receive less than the full protection of the buffer rate or floor rate. Once a segment lock-in is executed, it is irrevocable for that segment term. A lock-in will not be applied retroactively and can only be exercised for the entire segment option. A segment lock-in may only be exercised once per segment term for each index-linked segment option. There is no guarantee that any particular segment option or index will be available during the entire period. When Deanna Strable was approached to take on the role of CFO at Principal Financial Group, she was taken by surprise. Having spent most of her 30-year career in leading business units rather than focusing on finance, Strable initially questioned whether she was the right fit for a position traditionally held by financial experts.“Ultimately,” she recalls, “what I learned from our board and CEO was that they really wanted someone who could partner with them in driving the company forward—someone who had the ability, obviously, not only to understand the financials but also to be able to do so within the context of appreciating and analyzing how the day-to-day impact of our operations on our financials related to our long-term strategy.”This blend of operational insight and financial expertise would come to define her tenure as CFO. Over her 7 years in the role, she led the company through significant strategic shifts. Under her leadership, Principal exited underperforming and commoditized businesses, such as retail annuities and individual life insurance. These moves were part of a broader plan to focus the company on areas with greater long-term-growth potential, including retirement solutions and asset management.Strable also reshaped the company's financial priorities, moving beyond a narrow focus on earnings growth to a broader set of metrics, including return on equity, capital allocation, and customer satisfaction. Her emphasis on optimizing multiple metrics, rather than chasing short-term financial gains, helped to lay the groundwork for sustainable success. Strable's career journey as CFO was a testament to the power of strategic thinking in driving both financial and long-term business growth.

Darin is also a national speaker specializing in e-commerce, leadership, culture, and entrepreneurship. In this episode… eCommerce trends like shoppable videos and headless integrations are sweeping the market, and brands stall their growth when trying to capitalize on them simultaneously. So what key aspects should merchants focus on, and how can they partner with an agency to accelerate growth? As one of the early e-commerce adopters, growth leader Darin Lynch says brands must understand e-commerce basics like data management, omnichannel integrations, the path-to-purchase, and the user experience to remove growth barriers. When analyzing these areas, many merchants notice inaccurate product listings or descriptions on various channels, so updating keywords and integrating data to optimize profits is crucial. Darin also recommends partnering with an agency that specializes in areas you struggle to scale. This requires clearly articulating your business strategy, priorities, target audience, and supply chain management so the agency can build and grow your ideas. In today's Up Arrow Podcast episode, Darin Lynch, the Founder and CEO of Irish Titan, joins William Harris to talk about enhancing growth for stagnant e-commerce brands. “Instead of having broad job categories that everybody has to fit into, you tailor a person's job around their specific skills and capabilities”, says Jon. “It could be where people work, the work that people do and how much people work. We want to enable as much flexibility as possible.”Jon shares his career journey from the U.S. Air Force to his first HR job with Siemens before transitioning to financial services, holding positions with HSBC and Wells Fargo before joining Principal Financial Group in 2018. He highlights Principal's global footprint and balancing his responsibilities as CHRO for a global business with a headcount of 20,000 alongside his EVP role at Principal Global Services. Discussing Principal's north star goal of creating a personalized employee experience, Jon gives specific examples of how they are moving towards a more diverse and inclusive environment.“If you peel back what it would mean to have a completely personalized employee experience, in order to make that successful, you would have to have a very inclusive mindset. If you have the systems to figure out how to tailor a job experience to an individual's preferences and capabilities, might that be the ultimate level of equality?”Jon shares his recommendations to senior executives interviewing for a role at Principal. “Nothing says more to us than a person in an interview process who's clearly done their homework. They've watched our investor relations. They understand as much as they can about who we are, then can identify exactly the value that they can bring to the organization. It's basically creating relativity in in a conversation.”He gives advice to fellow HR leaders and emphasizes the one lesson that his job has taught him along the way. “You hear something, it may or may not be true. Every single story has a few sides. You can only get to some form of the truth when you get all three sides.”Connect with Jon Couture on LinkedIn or find out more about Principal Financial Group The Insurance Coffee House Podcast is hosted by Nick Hoadley, CEO, Insurance Search, the Executive Search Consultancy for growing Insurance and Insurtech businesses around the globe. To discuss identifying & attracting the very best talent to your team or being a podcast guest, reach out to Nick via nick.hoadley@insurance-search.com Copyright Insurance Search 2023 – All Rights Reserved.

If you ask everyone on your team if they know why your company exists, what would they say? And no, "to make money" just won't cut it these days. You might not think such existential ponderings have a place when you're fighting fires, closing deals, and growing the business - but nothing could be more important to your organization's long-term success. Today, we talk with Denise Roberson, who shares her work and research showing that organizations with clear, actionable purposes enjoy many tangible and intangible benefits - profit and longevity being among the most impressive.Today, we talk about what a Chief Purpose Officer does, and we parse out the word salad of purpose, vision, and mission so you have a better understanding on how they all work together. She shares examples from market leaders Unilever and others who are measuring the value and impact of purpose in more accurate ways. We also talk about big mistakes Boards and leaders make when thinking about purpose and what you can do to get maximum benefit instead. Key Takeaways:While vision, mission, and purpose all have different meanings, what is most important is that, within your organization, you are all working with the same vocabulary and all understand what you are talking about and what is most important. Purpose is important for every aspect of business: employees, investors, consumers, customers, and management. Empathy and purpose are important to every company, whether 100 or 100,000 employees. Have you ever thought of getting an au pair? If you have a toddler or a child that needs extra care, and you are open to having a cultural exchange into your home, then getting an au pair might be a good idea. If you get your ideal match, an au pair can be like a family member and there are a lot of positives to it.   Today we have Alan W. Wiederhold with us, who is an Au Pair HostDad himself hosting Au Pairs for the last 5 years. Let's learn more about Au Pairs, how it works, and how you can find your ideal match, and some things to keep in mind when looking for an Au Pair. All this and a lot more in today's episode of Old Guy Talks To Me.   Go to www.thestandard.academy/magazine to become one of the first to get my digital magazine for free that'll help you create a kick-ass life.   Alan W. Wiederhold is the Executive Vice President for Evolution Healthcare. Before joining Evolution, Alan enjoyed a 20-year career as Vice President of National Account Sales for both CoreSource (now Trustmark Benefits) and Principal Financial Group. Alan is an author, national speaker, and self-proclaimed healthcare nerd focused on creating new strategies for employers.   He is also a Veteran of the US Navy, serving in both Persian Gulf Conflicts and the former Yugoslavian crisis in the Adriatic Sea. Upon his honorable discharge, Alan earned his joint Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Latin American Studies from Western Michigan University. He holds a Group Benefits Associate designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) and Wharton School of Business   Alan enjoys spending time with his college sweetheart Rachel, daughter Harper, and son Ryker.   Alan's newest venture involves helping au pairs and families navigate the process of finding a good match.   What do you do when both of you are hunting down the American dream and you have a family? Day Care, Nannies didn't work for us so we went the Au pair route.   There is a big disconnect in what au pairs think about the program and what American's think about what an Au pair does.   After 4 AuPairs, 5 years, COVID, Rematches and daily conversations, I have decided to do something about it.   I created HostDad to help AuPairs discover who they are and what they are looking for. www.aupairexperience.us https://www.facebook.com/hostdadus https://www.instagram.com/hostdadus/   A bit about me (Dr. Orest Komarnyckyj): Dr. Orest Komarnyckyj enjoyed a prestigious career as a periodontal regenerative surgeon moving to a new passion in June 2018. He retired after a 33-year career to pursue new passions. At 69 Dr. Orest has taken on a new role as an Interviewer, Podcaster and government-certified Old Guy. He streams from his new home in Las Vegas, NV. He lives with his wife of 29 years, Oksana.
