*) Israel warns 1.1 million Palestinians in Gaza to relocate south The United Nations has said it has been told by the Israeli military that some 1.1 million Palestinians in Gaza should relocate to the blockaded enclave's south within the next 24 hours. "The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement. "The United Nations strongly appeals for any such order, if confirmed, to be rescinded avoiding what could transform what is already a tragedy into a calamitous situation," he said. Dujarric said the order by the Israeli military also applied to all UN staff and those sheltered in UN facilities, including schools, health centres and clinics. *) UN warns food, fresh water rapidly running out in Gaza amid Israeli siege The United Nations World Food Programme (or WFP) has warned that crucial supplies were running dangerously low in Gaza after Israel imposed a total blockade on the territory following Hamas attacks. "It's a dire situation in the Gaza that we're seeing evolve with food and water being in limited supply and quickly running out," said Brian Lander on Thursday, the deputy head of emergencies at WFP, which is based in Rome. "WFP is on the ground and is responding and we're providing food to thousands of people that have sought shelter in schools and elsewhere across the territory. But we're going to run out very soon," he told Reuters TV. Israel has announced a total siege on Gaza on Monday, blocking the entry of food, fuel and water into the coastal territory and shuttering all crossing points following Hamas's weekend rampage that killed more than 1,300 people. *) Iran warns of reaction to Israeli 'crimes' as toll rises in Gaza Iran's foreign minister, whose government supports Hamas, has warned opening a "new front" against Israel would depend on Israel's actions in blockaded Gaza. "The continuation of war crimes against Palestine and Gaza will receive a response from the rest of the axis. And naturally, the Zionist entity and its supporters will be responsible for the consequences of that," Hossein Amirabdollahian said. The Iranian minister said the displacement of Palestinians and cutting water and electricity to Gaza are considered war crimes. *) Gaza death toll, evacuation numbers swell Gaza's Health Ministry has said that 1,537 Palestinians, including 500 children and 276 women, were killed and 6,612 were wounded in ongoing Israeli air strikes on the blockaded enclave. As of late Thursday, the number of displaced people in Gaza had risen by additional 84,444 people and reached 423,378, the UN humanitarian agency said in a statement. *) US is inflaming Middle East conflict by sending aircraft carrier: Putin Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the United States of inflaming the Middle East by sending an aircraft carrier group to the region, saying "compromise solutions" were needed and that he hoped common sense would prevail. Putin, speaking at an energy conference in Moscow, said on Wednesday the US move of sending an aircraft carrier strike group closer to Israel, which was also fiercely criticised by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday, was a mistake. "I don't understand why the US is dragging aircraft carrier groups into the Mediterranean Sea. I don't really understand the point. Are they going to bomb Lebanon or what?" he said.

Hi there! Topic: Junk food habit affects sleep quality French fries and hamburgers are popular with teenagers. Everyone knows that these high-calorie foods can lead to chronic illnesses such as heart disease and high blood pressure, but, according to a report published by Medical Xpress, a study led by the University of Queensland in Australia has found that eating too much junk food can also have an impact on teenagers' sleep quality. According to the research results, teenagers who drink more than three soft drinks per day were 55 percent more likely to report sleep disturbance than those who only drink one cup per day. Males who ate fast foods on more than four days per week were 55 percent more likely to report sleep disturbance than those who ate them only once a week, while females were 49 percent more likely to do so. This global study examined unhealthy diets and stress-related sleep disturbance in high school students from 64 countries. The study found that 7.5 percent of adolescents reported having stress-related sleep disturbance, which was more common among females than males and increased with more frequent consumption of carbonated soft drinks, as did the occurrence of sleep problems. Because carbonated drinks often contain caffeine and large amounts of sugar, while fast foods are high in energy but poor in nutrients, long-term consumption can cause nutritional imbalances. These data were collected from global health surveys conducted by the WHO between 2009 and 2016, which included about 170,000 students aged 12 to 15 years from 64 low, middle and high-income countries in Southeast Asia, Africa, South America and the eastern Mediterranean. The research team said that frequent intake of soft drinks and eating of fast foods is closely associated with sleep problems in teenagers, and that this phenomenon is particularly clear in high-income countries. The research team said that these findings are worrying because poor-quality sleep has an adverse impact on adolescent health and cognitive development. They suggested that policies should be formulated that target these unhealthy behaviors. Source article: https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/lang/archives/2021/01/05/2003749938   Next Article   Topic: KFC drops Finger Lickin' Good slogan Global fast food giant KFC says it is halting its "Finger Lickin' Good" slogan given the current hygiene advice because of the coronavirus pandemic. "We find ourselves in a unique situation - having an iconic slogan that doesn't quite fit in the current environment," the company said. The company revealed its new look through a YouTube video, showing the slogan pixelated on posters and its food "buckets", saying: "That thing we always say? Ignore it. For now." Some people commented on social media the slogan was not a health hazard as you were already eating with your own hands. In March, the Advertising Standards Authority received 163 complaints about a KFC TV advert which featured people licking their fingers. Next Article   Topic: McDonald's to debut plant-based meat alternatives from McDonald's will debut its line of plant-based meat alternatives - the McPlant - in 2021. "Beyond Meat and McDonald's co-created the plant-based patty which will be available as part of their McPlant platform," a Beyond Meat spokesperson said. "Plant-based products are an ongoing consumer trend. It's not a matter of if McDonald's will get into plant-based, it's a matter of when," McDonald's chief executive officer Chris Kempczinski said. McDonald's competition - other brands including Burger King, White Castle and Dunkin' Brands Group Inc - also offer vegan alternatives. This move from McDonald's is expected to place the plant-based meat movement at the forefront in mainstream American society. Source article: https://features.ltn.com.tw/english/article/paper/1413235 ;https://features.ltn.com.tw/english/article/paper/1398350   Next Article   Topic: Do your bit for farmers and eat more fries, Belgians urged With potato farmers and processors struggling, Belgians are being urged to eat more fries to offset a slump in demand during the coronavirus pandemic. Belgium is the world's largest exporter of fries and other frozen potato products, its processors converting 5.3 million tonnes of potatoes into fries, mash and crisps per year and sending them to customers in more than 160 countries. Restrictions to halt the spread of the coronavirus have forced the closure of cafes and restaurants, the industry's prime customers for fries, and processing firms have seen demand fall by as much as 80%. “We know Belgians like their fries, it's intangible heritage our frying culture, so we ask Belgians to consume an extra portion of fries to allow us to process more potatoes and to avoid food waste,” Romain Cools, secretary-general of industry group Belgapom, told Reuters TV. Next Article:   Topic: A pastry chef in Germany offers edible sales receipts Since 1 January 2020, German law demands from retailers that they print a receipt for every purchase. Lily Jamali is a co-host of the California Report at KQED. The radio show covers a variety of topics about California, including the economy, immigration and education. While at KQED, Lily has covered the utility company PG&E, which announced bankruptcy at the beginning of 2019 after being found responsible for causing wildfires in the state. In May, Lily released an investigation about PG&E's Fire Victim Trust, which was set up to help those affected by fires over the years. Lily found that much of the money was going to overhead costs like paying lawyers, and a very small amount was going to victims. (Lawmakers are now seeking a probe into the trust.) Before joining KQED, Lily was an anchor for Bloomberg Markets in Canada and a reporter and producer for Reuters TV. She's also worked for TV stations in New York and Northern California. Lily is a graduate of UCLA, and she eventually went on to obtain her master's degree in journalism at Colombia, as well as an M.B.A. in finance from NYU. Lily gave shoutouts to Robin Epley, who came onto the podcast in May, Adriene Hill from NPR's California Newsroom and Aaron Glantz, also from NPR. Note: Lily was gracious enough to record her voice while she was in a car during a heatwave! About 20 minutes into the episode, she had to switch recording devices, so you'll hear a noticeable difference in the sound at that point.

Glen Goodman is a cryptocurrency contributing expert for the London School of Economics and was formerly a Business Correspondent for BBC News and ITV News, interviewing leading politicians, including Boris Johnson, David Cameron and Theresa May.Glen is the author of The Crypto Trader, published by Harriman House. In this Amazon bestseller, he draws on 20 years of trading experience to show how to trade cryptocurrency successfully.Glen's Facebook page, Glen Goodman – The Shares Guy, has a quarter of a million followers. It focuses on teaching people how to invest sensibly in cryptocurrencies and other investments. He is regularly interviewed about cryptocurrency and other business topics for BBC TV & Radio, Reuters TV, Al Jazeera, LBC, The Guardian, The Independent, The Telegraph, Forbes and Newsweek, among others.Glen started trading cryptocurrencies while they were still in their infancy and quickly discovered there were enormous profits to be made. With his trading experience he was able to make those profits – and keep them, while most other traders were losing their money during the Bitcoin crash of 2018. Glen has continued to trade cryptocurrency successfully during the market recovery. You will come across few people with a greater passion and enthusiasm for trading than Glen. His first experiences of trading were in the dotcom bubble. Those first experience, as with so many who enter their trading career in a raging bull market, ended up being a painful one. However, Glen was hooked and was determined to learn how to trade, so that one day he could beat the system.Whilst Glen worked as a news journalist and reporter, he continued to learn how to be a trader. Eventually after a number of years, he hit upon the sort of consistent performance which meant he could commit more time to his passion.Combining his work and his passion for trading led to some interesting incidences. One story Glen tells is of the time he was reporting from the middle of anti-capitalist riots, being surrounded by mobs of anarchists throwing bricks at bank buildings and battling the police, whilst all the time he was busy trading and booking profits on his phone. These days, Glen is a full-time trader. As you can hear from this vibrant conversation, Glen has great enthusiasm for trading. In this interview, Glen shares his story and his journey into trading, talks about his early experiences, his learning journey and the time when it all started to come together. We also discuss crypto trading, its challenges and the nature of the crypto which differentiates it from other asset classes. Glen, as you will hear, is refreshingly honest, objective and well-informed about all things crypto. He is not an obsessive ‘hodler’ of bitcoin who believes it’s the greatest thing since the dawn of time, he is just curious about crypto, actively trades it, and is willing to be long when it's bullish and short or out when bearish. To know more about Glen Goodman you can visit his Facebook page: The Shares Guy and follow him on Twitter: @glengoodmanGlen’s book: The Crypto Trader is published by Harriman House – details of the book can be viewed here: https://www.harriman-house.com/cryptotrader

The ban does not apply to wild animals in other permanent shows and in zoos. The French government will provide an aid package of more than 8 million euros (US$9.36 million) to help animal shows transition to a new business model. Around 20 European countries have already banned or limited the presence of wild animals in circuses. After scores of rejections, she finally landed a two-month contract at a family-aid charity that pays 10 pounds (about $13) an hour. “At the moment I will take anything I can get,” Lee said. “It's been desperate.” The coronavirus pandemic is rapidly fueling a new youth unemployment crisis in Europe. Young people are being disproportionately hit, economically and socially, by lockdown restrictions, forcing many to make painful adjustments and leaving policymakers grasping for solutions. Years of job growth has eroded in a matter of months, leaving more than twice as many young people than other adults out of work. The jobless rate for people 25 and under jumped from 14.7% in January to 17.6% in August, its highest level since 2017. Europe is not the only place where younger workers face a jobs crunch. Young Americans are especially vulnerable to the downturn. But in Europe, the pandemic's economic impact puts an entire generation at risk, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Young people are overrepresented in sectors where jobs are disappearing, including travel, retail and hospitality. Graduates are facing unprecedented competition for even entry-level positions from a tsunami of newly laid-off workers. The scarring effects may linger. “If you're unemployed earlier on in your career, you're more likely to experience joblessness in the future,” said Neal Kilbane, a senior economist at Oxford Economics. The European Union is trying to cushion the blow by encouraging businesses to recruit young people. But such programs may have little impact as Europe confronts its worst recession since World War II. Europeans coming of age in the pandemic are lowering their expectations of the jobs and careers they can get. Young workers without higher education risk sliding even further. Source article: https://paper.udn.com/udnpaper/POH0067/359091/web/ Next Article   Topic: Sausage vending machines booming in Germany   Hungry Germans craving a sausage in the dead of night are increasingly turning to vending machines for their bratwurst, bockwurst, and so on. Episode Summary On today’s episode with Angela Ukomadu, we talk about her experience working with Zinnyslifestyle and her previous experience at a gym where she was spending 3 hours daily and of course gaining more weight. We also touch a topic very dear to my heart; body shaming and how we use social media as a tool to pull other women down. The truth is what we say about other women's bodies is a reflection of how we feel about our own bodies and you never know what a woman is going through and how we are adding heaps of coal to the ongoing situation. About our guest Angela Ukomadu currently oversees the Reuters TV operations in Nigeria. Angela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the Abia State University and a post graduate diploma in Education. She also holds a Certificate in Digital Journalism from the City University of New York, Post-Graduate School of Journalism and just recently became a Kiplinger Fellow. Our favourite highlights - You don’t need to spend 3 hours at the gym to be healthy or lose weight, doing so can very quickly culminate in frustration. - Addiction, substance abuse and suicide attempts in adults has been linked to body shaming in both boys and girls during adolescence. - When body shaming persists getting dressed for many people can become such a chore that if it deteriorate can lead to panic attacks and other forms of anxiety disorders. - Celebrities and the people you see on social media are not just images, there are real people with feelings behind that account, we need to stop attacking each others’ bodies. ------------------ Be sure to share on your social media pages, tag your friends, invite them to start listening and start a conversation with the hashtag #beyondadresssize and tag us too @beyondadresssize. ----------- Grab Dr. Ezinne’s FREE TRAINING on ‘How to Lose Weight and Never Gain it Back’ at bit.ly/beyondweightloss so you too can finally finally get rid of the weight loss lifestyle, LOSE WEIGHT and NEVER GAIN IT BACK and live fabulously every waking day. --------- Schedule a consultation session with Dr. Ezinne so she can help you walk through your body struggles and rewrite your body story today - https://calendly.com/zinnyslifestyle/coachingsession If you have questions about booking Dr. Ezinne, sponsoring this podcast, guest suggestions or questions you’d like answered on the podcast; email us at admin@beyondadresssize.com To Subscribe to Beyond A Dress Size Podcast on: - iTunes - Stitcher - Spotify - Anchor - Google Podcasts - Castbox Simply head to anchor.fm/beyondadresssize choose your favourite platform and subscribe. Sure, you think of yourself as frugal, but do your friends think of you that way? If you're a little tight with money, or know someone who's maybe...just a tad too tight with money, today's discussion is for you! We're excited that today the creator of the new Financial Grown Up podcast and former Reuters TV anchor Bobbi Rebell joins us. Not only will we talk about penny pinching habits, but we'll also swing around to the other side of the financial spectrum...how do banks and financial institutions get you to part with more money? Partly it's by bestowing titles like "private banker" on the people who help you. We'll also turn our eye on FinTech, and this week discuss with Blueprint Income's Lauren Minches about the work they're doing with private pension programs. What if you could create a stable income stream for your retirement that didn't rely on stock market performance? Lauren and the Blueprint team are working hard at turning the world of annuities on their head, and today she'll walk us through the world of pensions, 401k's and the future of stable retirement income streams. If you aren't a fan of annuities, today's discussion about innovation in that area is exactly what you want to hear. We also answer Justin's three-oh call for help to the Blooom hotline. He's wondering what to do (hypothetically) with some money that he'd like to gamble with? What would our crack panel suggest? We'll get great ideas from Afford Anything's Paula Pant and our very own OG, as well as from Bobbi Rebell. On top of that, we'll also answer a letter from another listener, share Doug's trivia, and more. Thanks to Blue Apron for supporting Stacking Benjamins. One of the hardest jobs in journalism is making sense of conflict. Seeing through the fog of war and through what each side wants you to report is fantastically difficult, before you come across issues such as access, logistics, safety and context. James Rodgers has a deep understanding of why this is so hard because for many years (Reuters TV and BBC) he was one of the journalists who spent time in conflict zones from Chechnya and Iraq to Georgia and Gaza. As a result his book Reporting Conflict (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012) draws upon his own personal experiences as well his understanding of the issues involved, and the roles that various different types of reporter and journalist can play for different organisations and in very different circumstances. The result is a slim but disarmingly complete and clear book that deals with most of the big issues facing reporters in times of conflict, from the explosion of different technologies to the constraints imposed by practices such as embedding journalists with armed forces. It’s an important, clear and informed contribution to a debate that will continue as media organisations change and technologies evolve, and I thoroughly recommend getting hold of a copy. But first, of course, have a listen to my interview with James.
