In the vast digital landscape, where online marketplaces have revolutionized how we buy and sell goods and services, questions arise about the potential for these platforms to become monopolies.Giants such as Amazon reign supreme, but even the others are all looking for dominance.  In this episode, Shirish Nadkarni, a seasoned entrepreneur and author of the book "Winner Takes All: Case Studies in How Online Marketplaces Are Creating Modern Monopolies," joins me to shed light on the dynamics of online marketplaces and their potential for monopolistic dominance.Online marketplaces have become the beating heart of commerce, connecting millions of buyers and sellers across the globe. Can any force unseat these titans once they attain critical mass? Shirish and I explore these burning questions, providing you with an intimate understanding of the complex dynamics that govern the digital marketplace landscape. This thought-provoking conversation challenges traditional perceptions and delves into the factors that contribute to the rise of dominant players like Amazon.Join us as we delve into online marketplaces and the intricate dance of competition, innovation, and the quest for market dominance.Key Takeaways- How Shirish created the largest language marketplace (00:32) - The network effect of marketplaces (10:03)- How eBay lost in China (14:44)- How Amazon displaced eBay (20:14)- What is critical mass for a marketplace (23:26)- How regulators can ensure a level field (26:02)- Amazon's self-preferencing behaviors (30:09)- The next big marketplace (32:07)Additional Resources:- Winner Takes All Book- Connect with Shirish NadkarniWebsiteLinkedIn Twitter ----- Schedule a FREE consultation with the Ave7 team- Grab the FREE Amazon Seller Central Checklist- Get the book “The Amazon Jungle” book by Jason Boyce- Learn more about Avenue7Media----Day 2 Podcast has a goal of helping Amazon sellers learn how to launch, grow and protect their brand on the world's largest online marketplace (and beyond).Follow us on your favorite podcast platform so you never miss an episode!

Welcome to the latest season of Media Voices: Big Noises! This season, sponsored by Glide Publishing Platform, we'll be talking to publishing people with something to say. Media Voices co-host Peter Houston is tired of hearing the same old industry buzzwords. The publishing platitudes are starting to wear a bit thin, and he's decided to see if he can shake the conversation up a bit by speaking to some of the biggest characters in the business. On this week's episode of Big Noises from Media Voices we hear from media analyst Shirish Kulkarni. He takes us through news innovation and inclusion projects, from journalism AI to community journalism, focusing really on how these can be used together to serve people who currently don't see any value in journalism. He explains why news avoidance is a rational response to the current news ecosystem, and how news outlets that say 'we need people to trust us tomorrow' need to have a good long look at themselves. Kulkarni argues that DE&I cannot be fixed quickly, that there is a failure of management to address the issues substantively, and that media organisations' resistance to change is ultimately holding them back. Thanks to Glide Publishing Platform who have sponsored this season of Media Voices: Big Noises. Glide exists to make publishers more successful by removing any need to get bogged down building Content Management Systems, providing an industry-leading SaaS tailored to let publishers do more and spend less. Shirishko Phool (शिरीषको फूल, Blue Mimosa), published in 1964, is a Nepali language novel by Parijat. It was the author's first and most successful novel. It was awarded the Madan Puraskar in 1965. Suyog meets Sakambari and her two sisters through Shivaraj. Suyog is a lonely middle-aged man and sees the three sisters with eyes of lust. He views Mujura as the quintessential woman with all the feminine virtues and the most logical choice for a wife. However, he is drawn towards Sakambari who is a rebellious personality who does not adhere to the traditional expectations of how a woman should act or dress. He finds his philosophies strongly at odds with Sakambari's and their acquaintance leads him to reevaluate his past life and actions. He comes to accept his acts such as the rape of three women he committed during the war, which he had previously rationalised as acceptable under the peril of immediate death both he and his victims were under at the time, as criminal. Suyog finds himself unable to continue without love or redemption. Reasoning that either Bari will accept him and he will have happiness or she will hurt or kill him for the transgression giving him redemption, Suyog gets hold of her and kisses her. However, Bari simply looks deeply into him and strides off, vanishing into the house. Suyog is left distraught and confused. Months after the incident, he finds out that Sakambari has died

Gareeb, paagal, kallu, gora, tumse ye sab nai ho payega, tum ladki ho, tum ladke hoke aisa karoge? etc... How many times we have listened or said these things to someone in our lives? For many people, discrimination is an everyday reality. Discrimination is the unfair or prejudicial treatment of people and groups based on characteristics such as race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. The human brain naturally puts things in categories to make sense of the world. Very young children quickly learn the difference between boys and girls, for instance. But the values we place on different categories are learned – from our parents, our peers, and the observations we make about how the world works. Often, discrimination stems from fear and misunderstanding. Discrimination is a public health issue. As per one study*, chronic stress can lead to a wide variety of physical and mental health problems. Indeed, perceived discrimination has been linked to issues including anxiety, depression, obesity, high blood pressure, and substance abuse. Today's podcast addresses this issue with Shirish who works for this cause and runs his podcast channel also based on it. Don't miss the end part of it. You can even reach him out at https://www.shishirrattanart.com/podcast It's a serious issue in our society and if you have any experience or suggestion, please share with me. Although obtaining police clearances for Canadian immigration purposes can seem like a pretty straightforward thing to do, if taken lightly, it can mean the difference between getting your application approved or rejected. In this episode, Canadian immigration lawyer Shirish Chotalia joins me to discuss the ins and outs of the volatile area of police clearances and security screening. If you are involved in filing immigration applications, to any degree, you will not want to proceed any further before listening to this Episode. [smart_track_player url="http://traffic.libsyn.com/canadianimmigrationpodcast/CIP_S3_E6.mp3" social="true" social_twitter="true" social_facebook="true" social_gplus="true" social_linkedin="true" ] In this episode Shirish and I discuss some of our craziest client experiences trying to get police clearances to satisfy IRCC's requirements. When it comes to pretty much any requested document these days, IRCC is ruthless. If you don't have it and can't provide it, by the time they want it, you can count on your application getting rejected. Ms. Shirish Chotalia has more than 30 years experience in the field of immigration law. She has successfully opposed the decisions of the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in the Federal Court and litigated complex cases since 1987. She has successfully conducted appeal hearings and managed complex immigration challenges. If you have not yet had a chance, you can learn more about Shirish in Season 1 Episode 35 : Defending the Vulnerable – An Immigration Lawyer's Story! This Episode was awesome. It really gives you a feel for who Shirish is and the great advocacy work she has done for her clients over the years....in many cases on a Pro Bono capacity. At times foreign nationals face injustices within the immigration system that simply cry out for redress. When all hope seems lost, courageous immigration lawyers, such as Shirish Chotalia, step in when no one else can. In this episode of the Canadian Immigration Podcast, Shirish shares some amazing stories and even better insight into the world of immigration advocacy....and even better yet, she has inspired me (and hopefully will inspire you as well) to consider taking on difficult immigration cases where the, at times, cruel nature of Canadian immigration law and policy rears its ugly head. In our discussion, we covered the following topics: background on Shirish and her extensive experience with immigration advocacy; how Shirish got into immigration; what immigration advocacy is all about; why it's important to challenge immigration decisions in deserving cases; why immigration lawyers should do more pro bono immigration work.
