Sekondi Takoradi Stadium and Tamale Stadium were newly built for the tournament with a 20,000-seater capacity for each, additionally. NPP has apologized to Citi FM/Citi TV and the station's Northern Regional Correspondent, Mohammed Aminu M. Alabira, following an attack on the reporter by the party's Member of Parliament for Yendi, Farouk Aliu Mahama, during the parliamentary primary.

In Yendi, the election was characterized by chaos, and the EC was not unable to declare a winner. The contest was between, Farouk Aliu Mahama and Hajia Abibata Mahama. Party executives declared Farouk Aliu Mahama the winner, but his contender, Hajia Abibata Mahama, in a statement, urged her supporters to disregard the declaration as the party works to find amicable solutions to issues.

When Akim Aliu was a young boy, he and his family moved to Canada. His parents wanted a better life for their two sons. Akim's father is Nigerian, and his mother Ukrainian. Whether they lived in Ukraine, Nigeria, or Canada, the family faced discrimination and bigotry. Things didn't improve when Akim developed a love of ice hockey. Money was tight, and the sport wasn't welcoming to children of color. Still, Akim's parents did everything they could to help him follow his dreams. Akim made it all the way to the National Hockey League. But he faced systemic racism at every level of the game. He's now speaking out in the hope that a new generation of young athletes won't have to endure the brutality he did. In this Black History Month episode, Akim talks with host Suzanne McCabe about Dreamer, his new graphic memoir for 8- to 12-year-olds. Topic: Discussing Vedanta , MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and Ahimsa (non-violence), quoting the Bhagavad Gita, with strong Italian fighter of Albanian descent, Leon Aliu. MMA is a combat sport that takes its name from the English acronym Mixed Martial Arts, which means mixed martial arts. It is a discipline in which the two combatants can use any technique possible to defeat each other and which fuses the movements of Judo, karate, Muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, grappling and kickboxing. Leon Aliu is a strong MMA fighter of Albanian descent who lives and trains in Reggio Emilia with the coach Alessandro Iacono, is coming off a major win in the main event of Cage Warriors 138. There, the middleweight put on a masterful performance by knocking out James Webb in less than two minutes in front of his home crowd. Such a victory drew interest in Aliu and UFC - Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White decided to provide him with the chance of a lifetime. He will have an important fight to face in Las Vegas next September 20 against Brazilian fighter Bruno Ferreira. Ahimsa (non-injury) in its spiritual scope means never having cruel intentions. Non-injury is the spirit that should dominate all our motivations. Our intentions should not be polluted by even a trace of cruelty or hatred. Non-injury is not so much about never causing physical injury to any being as it is about never contemplating harming any living creature. Physically, not hurting is impossible. In order to continue living, some kind of physical harm is unavoidable. However, even if we create unavoidable disturbances around us, if our motives are pure and clean, the harm thus caused is not considered an injury. To best understand in concept of Ahimsa, one must read carefully this story from the Sufi Tradition: "A Sufi soldier was in the middle of a battle. It was a hand-to-hand combat. He skillfully fought the enemy with his dagger. He soon knocked the enemy to the ground and sat astride his chest, raising his hand to drop the dagger. The enemy, in his helpless rage, spat in the face of the Sufi soldier. The Sufi soldier's hand remained suspended in mid-stride and did not strike. "What are you waiting for?" said the fallen enemy. "I am totally under your power. Go ahead, kill me!" The Sufi soldier replied: "I can't. I was doing my duty and you were doing yours. I don't know you and you don't know me. Now you introduced a personal note by spitting at me in anger and I got angry. Now killing you will not be an act of duty, but murder." What Arjuna is taught in the Bhagavad Gita is the essence of all Eastern martial arts, where one is trained to strike the opponent, but within oneself one remains in the center of stillness. They are told to kill but not to not commit murder. This is ahimsa on the battlefield. This is the resolution of the Bhagavad Gita's "koan" of nonviolence.

On this episode, I'm joined by Ben Meiselas, prominent civil rights and sport lawyer, attorney and business partner of Colin Kaepernick, co-founder of Meidas Touch, an independent pro-democracy media network, and an advisor to the Hockey Diversity Alliance.After winning the Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche, Nazem Kadri told the international television audience that "for everybody that thought I was a liability these playoffs...you can kiss my a-s."   Earlier in the playoffs, Kadri, the only Muslim player in the NHL, accidentally injured the goalie for the St. Louis Blues, leading to a a torrent of racist messages and death threats from fans on social media.   Ben Meiselas joins me to discuss the Kadri incident, the formation of the Hockey Diversity Alliance by a group of hockey players of color, and the daunting question facing the NHL: why does the league have such a diversity problem, and what can be done to fix it?  We also talk about Colin Kaepernick and his prospects of playing in the NFL again.

The NHL is investigating allegations Calgary Flames coach Bill Peters directed racial slurs toward Akim Aliu, which the Nigerian-born player says happened a decade ago while the two were in the minors. The NHL on Tuesday called the alleged behaviour ``repugnant and unacceptable.'' The league added it will have no further comment until it looks into what happened more thoroughly. Aliu alleged Peters ``dropped the N bomb'' several times at him in 2009-10 during his first full season with the Chicago Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate in Rockford, Illinois. He then said Peters arranged for his demotion to the East Coast Hockey League after Aliu complained. Flames general manager Brad Treliving said the team is investigating the allegations Aliu raised in a series of tweets on Monday during Calgary's overtime loss at Pittsburgh.  Peters is still employed by the team, but will not be behind the bench when the Flames visit the Buffalo Sabres tonight. Otto Wittmann (1911-2001) was a curator and director of the Toledo Museum of Art from 1959-1976. During World War II, Wittmann served as a Major with the Air Force but was later transferred to the Art Looting Investigation Unit (ALIU) in Washington, D.C. under the Office of Strategic Services. As an ALIU official, Wittmann assisted with looted art recovery in Paris and Munich, investigated transactions in Sweden and Switzerland, and worked with the collection centers in France. In this excerpt, Wittmann talks about his work restituting art looted by the Nazis.

Samson Lane Faison Jr. (1907-2006) was an art history professor at Williams College, Massachusetts. During World War II, Faison enlisted and served in the Naval Air Force. From 1945 to 1946, Faison was a member of the Office of Strategic Services Art Looting Investigation Unit (ALIU), finding and recovering art stolen by the Nazis. In this audio clip, Faison discusses his exploits as a Monuments Men, starting with the phone call asking him to join the ALIU and later working as the director of the Munich Central Collecting Point, one of several locations established by the U.S. State Department to gather the recovered art for repatriation.
