From Evangelical Missionary to Orthodox Jew: This is Shannon Nuszen's Unbelievable Journey! In this powerful interview, Shannon Nuszen shares her extraordinary transformation from being an evangelical missionary—trained to convert Jews—to embracing Orthodox Judaism. Raised in a fundamentalist Christian family, Shannon later joined the Christian messianic movement, working with missionary groups targeting Jews, but eventually converted to Judaism and now regrets her past involvement. What led her to question her beliefs? How did her deep dive into Jewish texts change everything? What challenges did she face in leaving Christianity and converting to Judaism? With over 15 years in the counter-missionary field, she educates Jewish communities about missionary tactics. She founded Beyneynu, an organization that monitors missionary activity and raises awareness among Jewish leaders. Now, through her organization Beyneynu, she works to protect Jewish communities from deceptive missionary tactics. This is an important mission, as the there are more and more Jews converting to Christianity. In 2015, there were 15,000 Jews belonging to Messianic congregations here in Israel – as of 2020, there were more than 30,000 reported. Beyneynu has watched this community grow from 120 Messianic congregations and outreach programs to over 300, and there are currently over 200 websites dedicated to converting Jewish people to Christianity, mostly through media in English, Hebrew, Russian, and Arabic. https://beyneynu.com This episode was made possible thanks to our sponsors: ► PZ Deals - Download the app and never pay full price again! https://app.pz.deals/install/mpp ____________________________________________________ ► Eretz Hakodesh - Vote to Keep Israel Holy! Four in 10 people on earth have never heard the name of Jesus. Brother Harold, a gospel worker for 15 years among Muslims in Central Asia, joins VOM Radio this week to share what he's seen and learned during seven years mobilizing missionaries to go into all the world. Harold will share how his own daughter was called to full-time missions and offer advice and encouragement to parents sending out their sons and daughters to be gospel workers, knowing that some will never come back. “There are about 450,000 Christian missionaries worldwide,” Harold says, “but only 15,000 go to the unreached, to the 3.4 billion unreached people.” Today Latin American and African churches are on fire for Christ, sending out the greatest number of missionaries to the world. How can the church in North America come alongside these willing workers? Listen as Brother Harold encourages local pastors to be involved and supportive of missions in their congregations, including practical advice to pastors. He will also encourage those of every age to be involved in missions and share the benefits of attending the Perspectives course that helps all believers understand their roles in the Great Commission. Harold also shares a recent experience where he was convicted by God in a taxicab. Pray for unreached people groups to hear the gospel and for missionaries to be sent into the harvest fields. The VOM App for your smartphone or tablet will help you pray daily for persecuted Christians throughout the year, as well as giving free access to e-books, audio books, video content and feature films. Hindi was a language that was created for the common folks by a foreign Christian missionary. The reason? Sanskrit was considered an elite, religious language only to be spoken by the few. The efforts of Christian missionaries in enabling the Indian to communicate and disseminate ideas is overlooked and derided, often in Hindi speeches. Linguistic scholar and researcher Dr Babu K Verghese unpacks the riveting historical contributions made by "Bible people" to uplift Bharat. By the time he was in his 40s, Perry Davis was an entrepreneur who had tried, unsuccessfully, to start multiple businesses; and those failures had left him $4,500 in debt – roughly more than $160,000 today. In 1839, his bad luck continued when he then became ill with debilitating pain. Seeking even just any little bit of relief, he mixed up a concoction, containing mostly opiates and alcohol – a mix that would later become known around the world as, “Perry Davis' Vegetable Pain Killer.” And Davis would become known as the guy who trademarked the word, ‘painkiller'.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This week on WDDD? Sarah shares the story of the unfortunate death of a young American man named John Chau. John Chau, a Christian missionary, ventured to the remote North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean in November 2018. His mission was to evangelize to the indigenous Sentinelese people, who were known to reject contact with the outside world. Chau felt that this remote island was likely, "Satan's last stronghold" and that God had chosen him to ensure they heard his word. Chau's illegal and highly controversial visit led to his death when he was reportedly killed by members of the isolated tribe. The incident sparked widespread debate over issues such as missionary work, indigenous rights, and the ethics of contact with uncontacted peoples. Join us for this thrilling tale of misadventure. For three decades, Tom and JoAnn Doyle's ministry has focused on the Middle East. The two affable and faith-filled Americans have smuggled in Bibles and helped locals organize Christian house churches in places where it could bring a death sentence for converting from Islam. And yet, even under threat of death, there's been a massive conversion there, particularly in Iran, the country that just launched hundreds of missiles on Israel. What's the real take of how Iranians feel about their country's regime and its attack on the Jewish state? Is the missile strike fulfilling an ancient biblical prophecy in Ezekiel of Gog and Magog? And why are so many Muslims having dreams of a mysterious man in white? On this episode of Lighthouse Faith podcast, the Doyle's talk about what's happening spiritually in the Islamic Republic, and how the Word of God is making miraculous changes in a people hungry for the truth. It's Thursday, February 15th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Hindu group to Christian schools: Remove religious items in 15 days A Hindu group in northeastern India recently gave Christian schools 15 days to remove religious items from their buildings. Satya Ranjan Borah is the president of the group called Kutumba Surakshya Parishad. She said, “Christian Missionaries are converting schools and educational institutes into religious institutes. We will not allow it.” The group is also calling for the removal of churches on school grounds. Christians have been involved in education in India's state of Assam for decades. They have faced increasing threats in recent years. India is ranked 11th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. More young Finnish men believe in God and attend church Evangelical Focus reports membership in religious organizations is declining in Europe and North America. Hanna Salomäki is the director of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland's Church Institute for Research and Advanced Training. She said that national churches in Nordic countries are following the trend of declining membership. However, she noted Finland is seeing an exception among young men aged 15 to 29. In 2019, 12% of young men in Finland attended church monthly, up from 5% in 2011. The attendance rate for young women remains low, near 3%. Over the same time period, weekly prayer among young men grew from 16% to 26%, and belief in God grew from 19% to 43%. Psalm 119:9 asks, “How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word.” Democrats flipped Santos seat in special election Here in the United States, Democrats flipped the battleground Long Island, New York seat last held by ousted Rep. George Santos, narrowing the already razor-thin Republican majority in the House, reports Politico.com. Democrat Tom Suozzi won back his former seat in New York's 3rd Congressional District, defeating lesser-known Republican rival Mazi Melesa Pilip. The vote was 53.9% to 46.1%. SUOZZI: “Despite all the attacks, despite all the lies about Tom Suozzi and the Squad (laughter), about Tom Suozzi being the Godfather of the migrant crisis, about Sanctuary Suozzi (boos), despite the dirty tricks, despite the vaunted Nassau County Republican machine (boos), we won!” (cheers) Santos was expelled from Congress amid being criminally indicted on fraud charges. 1 dead, 22 injured at Kansas City Chiefs victory parade Police said one person died and 22 people suffered gunshot wounds in a shooting Wednesday afternoon just after the Kansas City Chiefs parade and rally ended at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, reports KCTV. Children's Mercy Hospital confirmed it was treating 12 patients, 11 of whom were children. The hospital stated that nine of those patients have gunshot wounds. Police Chief Stacy Graves spoke to the press. GRAVES: “At the conclusion of the chiefs rally today, there were shots fired on the west side of Union Station. Immediately, officers responded to the area, took two people into custody and also immediately rendered life sustaining aid to those victims. “I'm angry at what happened today. The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment. We had over 800 law enforcement officers, Kansas City and other agencies, at the location to keep everyone safe. Because of bad actors, which were very few, this tragedy, occurred even in the presence of uniformed law enforcement officers.” Brave Kansas City Chiefs fans tackled a suspected gunman as he attempted to flee cops after a shooting at the Super Bowl parade. Amid the terror, a heroic group of men were seen taking down one of the suspected perpetrators. They hauled the alleged gunman to the ground and then shouted, “We got the gun.” The men held down the suspect until cops arrived to detain him, reports The Daily Mail. The identities of the three gunmen have not yet been confirmed and no motive has been given for the attack. Only 47% of Americans are really happy A recent poll from Gallup found only 47% of U.S. adults say they are very satisfied with their personal lives. It's the lowest since 2011. Only a few demographic subgroups had majorities saying they are very satisfied with life. Those included married adults and people who attend religious services weekly. 1 Timothy 6:6 says, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” Serious threats against U.S. federal judges double U.S. federal judges now face more than double the number of threats they did three years ago. Reuters reviewed data from the U.S. Marshals Service. The agency is responsible for protecting 2,700 judges and over 30,000 federal personnel. Amidst sharp political tensions, the agency investigated 457 serious threats during the fiscal year 2023, up from 224 in 2021. 8 to 12-year-olds on track to abandon Christian beliefs Dr. George Barna at the Arizona Christian University released a new report on the spiritual beliefs of children in America. The report notes, “'The foundational beliefs held by 8- to 12-year-olds put them on track to abandon biblical Christianity in record numbers.” Today's children reject five beliefs central to the Christian faith. Only a minority of them draw moral guidance from the Bible, believe in absolute moral truth, embrace faith in Jesus Christ as the means of salvation, identify serving God as their chief purpose in life, and consider success to be consistent obedience to God. 40 Days for Life kickoff And finally, the 40 Days for Life Campaign kicked off in over 650 cities around the world yesterday. Pro-life activists plan to pray outside of abortion mills for the end of the killing of unborn babies. One location won't be needing prayer warriors outside of it this year. The abortion mill in Fredericton, New Brunswick in Canada is going out of business. 40 Days for Life noted, “Pro-lifers brought a 40 Days for Life campaign to town last year, and the facility's financial problems became too much to bear. Local 40 Days for Life participants report this is the first Canadian abortion facility to close in response to pro-life efforts in decades.” James 5:16 says, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, February 15th in the year of our Lord 2024. Hundreds of Jews, including Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Aryeh King, stage a demonstration near the Western Wall in Jerusalem today against what they described as an attempt by Christians to convert Jews at the holy site. King told reporter Arieh O'Sullivan that the Christians had announced that they were at the site to engage in missionary activity and some of the participants were Israeli Messianic Jews. He said missionizing in Israel was illegal, but police dealt with it with a lax hand and the demonstration today was to send a message to Christians that they are not allowed to convert Jews in Israel. It's Wednesday, March 22nd, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark European Court affirms religious liberty of Russian pastor Earlier this month, the European Court of Human Rights condemned Russia for violating the religious liberty of a pastor. In 2016, Russian officials punished Donald Ossewaarde, an Evangelical pastor, for holding a prayer gathering at his home in Oryol. Authorities convicted him under a 2016 anti-terrorism law which banned many instances of “missionary work.” After the recent ruling, the pastor said, “We hope and pray that the international community will pay attention to the erosion of religious freedom in Russia, and that this Court decision will prompt other countries to affirm and robustly protect the religious freedom of their people.” Christian missionary in Niger, Africa released by Muslim terrorists Praise God! A Christian U.S. aid worker was finally freed on Monday after years of captivity in West Africa. In 2016, Islamic militants kidnapped Jeffery Woodke for ransom from his home in Niger. After his release, Jeffery's wife, Els Woodke, said she “praises God for answering the prayers of Christians everywhere who have prayed for this outcome.” A French journalist kidnapped in 2021 in neighboring Mali was also released with Jeffery. The release comes after Antony Blinken became the first U.S. Secretary of State to visit Niger last week. Isaiah 61:1 says, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” Methodist College fired Christian professor A Methodist Bible college in the United Kingdom fired a professor last week for criticizing sexually perverted lifestyles. Back in February, Dr. Aaron Edwards tweeted, “Homosexuality is invading the Church . . . This *is* a ‘Gospel issue,' by the way. If sin is no longer sin, we no longer need a Saviour.” In response, Cliff College in Derbyshire dismissed Edwards, and even threatened to report him to the government's Counter-Terrorism watchdog. Speaking to CBN News, he warned that Christians are becoming more and more afraid to declare their convictions. EDWARDS: “It's because we've accepted a worldly ideology. And we haven't been robust enough, we haven't been sufficiently robust, in declaring our convictions. We've apologized for our convictions before the world. We haven't declared them because we've been told that if you declare your conviction, that homosexuality is sinful, you're homophobic. Well, that's not actually true.” Biden's first veto President Joe Biden issued the first veto of his presidency on Monday. The bill that came to Biden's desk would have kept retirement fund managers from making environmental, social, or governance considerations, also known as ESG, as part of their investment strategy. Biden vetoed the bill. ESG investing focuses on a company's commitment to so-called diversity and environmentalism instead of its economic performance. In response, Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy tweeted, “Biden just sided with woke Wall Street over workers ... despite a bipartisan vote to block his [environmental, social, and governance] agenda. It's clear Biden wants Wall Street to use your retirement savings to fund his far-left political causes.” Utah's new law will shut down abortion mills Last Wednesday, Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox signed an anti-abortion bill into law. The measure will shut down abortion mills in the state by next year. The law ends the licensing of abortion locations starting in May of this year. It also bans the operation of abortion mills starting in January of next year. The law also updated Utah's 18-week abortion ban to not include exceptions in certain cases. Only 3% of Americans have Biblical worldview And finally, the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University released their latest study on Biblical worldview in America. The study identified seven cornerstones of a Biblical worldview. People who hold to all seven beliefs are much more likely to have a Biblical worldview. Here are the seven cornerstones with the percentage of Americans which hold to each: Only 50% of American adults embrace the true nature of God. 35% believe Jesus is the only way for salvation. 27% recognize humans as sinful. 46% accept the Bible as true and reliable. A slim 25% believe in absolute truth rooted in the Bible. 36% see their purpose as serving God. Only 23% define success as obedience to God. Sadly, only 3% of U.S. adults embrace all seven principles. Hebrews 10:23 says, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, March 22nd in the year of our Lord 2023. Your host Timmy Gibson, former Evangelical Pastor turned Spiritual Agnostic has a very open and honest conversation with Kyle Hass, a former Bible College graduate and Christian Missionary in Training turned Agnostic about their journey to unbelief. They once were Bible thumping Christians with all the answers about God, Heaven, Hell, who goes there, and the Devil but now have more unanswered, maybe even unanswerable questions about all things related to God, specifically Evangelical Christianity. Living on mission doesn't have to mean adding to our already-busy lives. In fact, most of the important parts of God's story happened around a table. In week one of the series, Teaching Pastor Chase Gardner reminds us that gathering around a table isn't only about sharing food, but about giving life. #missions #missionaries #everydaymissions --- To join a Rhythm Starter Group, click here: https://gethope.net/rhythm/ If you'd like to receive regular updates on what's happening around Hope, subscribe to our newsletter here: https://gethope.net/enews/ If you'd like to view our message notes, click here: https://gethope.net/message-notes/ If you're new to Hope or looking to get connected, click here: https://gethope.net/next/ If you've just made a decision for Christ, please respond here: https://bit.ly/3aWvIZN To support this ministry financially to help us continue to love people where they are and encourage them to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, click here: https://gethope.net/give/ Subscribe to receive our latest messages: https://bit.ly/2XBbBxq Stay Connected with Hope:Website: https://gethope.net/Hope Community Church Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gethopecommunitychurchHope Community Church Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/get_hope/Hope Community Church Twitter: https://twitter.com/get_hopeHope Community Church YouTube: https://youtube.com/c/HopeCommunityChurch

My guest was born in Ukraine then moved to Russia with her family. At 16, Natasha felt the need for some sort of spiritual connection in her life. Neither her mother or father believed in traditional religious beliefs, so she started attending services in different temples and churches. But it wasn't until she met Rachelle, that my guest was encouraged to find her own calling. Rachelle did not persuade Natasha to do anything specific in life, yet there was a mutual interest in caring for children who did not have families of their own.Natasha was so taken with Rachelle's sincerity and concern. Rachelle was actually one of the very first adults to ask Natasha personal questions. "She gave me a lot of hope and comfort by just being there. And because she was there, I always had hope and ideas of what would be next in life. Rachelle is very personal. She feels very deeply and when someone shares their story, she's ready to feel it, cry with them, laugh with them says Natasha.Natasha is very happy to be living in a more remote area now with her family. She's cooking up a storm and you can find her recipes and tricks of the kitchen trade on her social media pages-links are below. I hope you enjoy this conversation. Natasha has such a warm demeanor that I felt as though I was sitting with her in her kitchen in Hungary. Wade Draft Opinion The Supreme Court released a report stating that, after a months-long internal investigation, the leaker of a draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade last year couldn’t be identified. The leak shattered the image of the Supreme Court, which has long prided itself on maintaining proper decorum and on keeping as confidential the deliberations of the justices in cases argued before the court. The day after the leak, Chief Justice John Roberts said there would be an investigation. But despite his assurances, the unprecedented leak reportedly caused internal disruptions at the court and changed the atmosphere behind-the-scenes while giving rise to rampant speculation about the motives of the leaker or leakers. Some said the leak was intended to generate a public backlash that would intimidate the conservative justices into leaving Roe intact, while others speculated that it was calculated to pressure the conservative justices, who had already signaled a willingness to reverse Roe, to stay the course and actually do it. Supreme Court justices, including Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote both the draft and published versions of the opinion, previously described the leak of the document as a “grave betrayal.” In recent months, various justices said an update on the progress of the investigation was coming, but no updates followed until the formal release of the report. The leak was followed by months of raucous protests at the homes of the conservative justices in Maryland and Virginia, targeted harassment of justices in public by left-wing activists, and angry words in Congress. One man was arrested and charged with plotting to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The report (pdf) on Supreme Court Marshal Gail Curley’s investigation was issued midday on Jan. 19. The Supreme Court ruled on June 24, 2022, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that there’s no constitutional right to abortion, overturning Roe v. Wade, the 1973 precedent that legalized abortion nationwide. The Dobbs ruling returned the regulation of abortion to the states. Five conservative justices voted to reverse Roe. Roberts, also considered a conservative, voted to uphold the restrictive Mississippi abortion law in question but wrote that he wouldn’t have overturned Roe. Three liberal justices issued a strongly worded joint dissent. Somehow, an early version of the draft majority opinion in Dobbs made its way to the media, a first-of-its-kind leak of a full high court opinion. Politico published the draft document, dated Feb. 10, 2022, on May 2, 2022, without disclosing its source. In the end, the draft document wasn’t much different than the official published opinion. The investigation itself is continuing, according to the report. https://thepostmillennial.com/trump-probably-coming-back-to-twitter-gop-source?utm_campaign=64487 Trump 'probably coming back to Twitter' Former President Donald Trump is looking to return to Twitter and Facebook. Trump, whose account was reinstated following the purchasing of Twitter by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, has stuck to his own platform, Truth Social, despite his account's unsuspended status. A Republican with knowledge of private discussions on Trump's potential return to Twitter, who spoke with NBC News on condition of anonymity, said, "Trump is probably coming back to Twitter. It’s just a question of how and when. He’s been talking about it for weeks, but Trump speaks for Trump, so it’s anyone’s guess what he’ll do or say or when." Another person close to Trump told the outlet that Trump has sought input on his potential return to Twitter for weeks, and that his campaign advisors have been workshopping ideas for his first Tweet on the platform in over 2 years. Some Trump advisors said that the 2024 presidential hopeful could be limited in posting to other social media platforms since he founded Truth Social. A spokesman for Trump told NBC though that the campaign believes he would be able to return to Twitter as before. Trump was banished from the popular social media platform on January 8, 2021, two days after the Capitol riot on January 6. Trump previously said that he would not be returning to the platform and that he would stick to Truth Social. "Truth Social is through the roof," he said Talks of Trump's potential return to Twitter comes as Trump's campaign has petitioned for his Facebook account to be reinstated, as the account nears the end of it's two-year suspension. The Facebook ban, enacted on January 7, 2021, was for an initial period of two years, after which it would come up for review. https://thepostmillennial.com/breaking-alec-baldwin-to-be-charged-with-involuntary-manslaughter-in-fatal-rust-shooting?utm_campaign=64487 Alec Baldwin to be charged with involuntary manslaughter in fatal Rust shooting On Thursday, prosecutors announced that they will charge Alec Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed with two counts each of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Baldwin’s Rust set. The announcement of the charge comes over two years after Alec Baldwin shot and killed 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza with a live round from a prop gun. According to CBS News National Correspondent Kris Van Cleve, Assistant Director David Hall "has signed a plea agreement for the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. The terms include a suspended sentence and six months probation." No charges were filed in connection to the shooting of Rust director Joel Souza, who was injured but survived. In a statement from New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, she stated that her office will file criminal charges against the two by the end of the month. Involuntary manslaughter is a fourth-degree felony in the state of New Mexico, and carries an 18-month jail sentence and a $5,000 fine. Carmack-Altwies noted that "The other charge is involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act," which is also a fourth-degree felony carrying the same sentencing. In 2021, Baldwin had said in an interview with George Stephanopolous that he "didn’t pull the trigger," but a later FBI analysis concluded that he did in fact pull the trigger. It was found that the prop gun had been loaded with live rounds, and that the gun had misfired multiple times leading up to the fatal shooting. In April of 2022, New Mexico’s Occupational Health and Safety Bureau fined Rust Movie Productions $136,793, the maximum possible fine. The bureau also reportedly issued a "scathing narrative of safety failures in violation of standard industry protocols," which included testimony that the production’s managers took little to no action to address two previous misfires leading up to the fatal October shooting. They also documented numerous gun safety complaints brought forth by crew members that they say went unnoticed, and said that weapons specialists were not allowed to make decisions regarding additional safety training. The production’s head armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, had previously had a number of complaints lodged against her in regard to concerns over her careless handling of weapons. Gutierrez-Reed and her assistants had also been allegedly been playing with weapons on the set of Rust. Hutchins had reportedly been advocating for safer conditions for her team. In November of 2022, Baldwin launched a lawsuit against several crew members of the film for reckless and dereliction of duty. The suit named Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the chief armorer, Assistant Director Dave Halls, Prop Master Sarah Zachry and Seth Kenney, the gun supplier. The previous month, Baldwin settled with Hutchins’ family in a wrongful death suit. As part of the agreement, Matthew Hutchins, Halyna’s widower, will act as an executive producer when the film resumes production. In October 2022, it was revealed that Rust would resume production in January, but the production would not resume in New Mexico, according to Variety. https://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/sister-andre-worlds-oldest-person-dies-118 Sister André, world's oldest person, dies at age 118 Lucile Randon, the French nun who was the world's oldest living person and the oldest person to survive COVID-19, died in her sleep on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Sainte-Catherine-Laboure nursing home in the town of Toulon. Randon was less than a month away from celebrating her 119th birthday, multiple outlets reported. Born on Feb. 11, 1904, Randon worked as a teacher, governess and child care provider before becoming a Catholic nun in 1944. After becoming a nun, Randon took the name "Sr. André." Randon was declared to be the "oldest person living (female)" and "overall oldest person living" following the death of 119-year-old Kane Tanaka of Japan on April 19, 2022, according to Guinness World Records. During her life, Randon spent nearly 30 years working with orphans and the elderly at a hospital in Vichy Randon told Guinness World Records that she enjoyed eating chocolate and other sweets as a "guilty pleasure" and had a glass of wine each day. She also credited her long life to hard work, telling French media in 2022 that she worked until she was 108 years old. Randon was what's known as a "supercentenarian" — someone who lives over the age of 110. The world's eight verified oldest living people are all women, according to the Gerontology Research Group's website. Four of the top eight were born in Japan, three were born in the United States, one was born in France and one was born in Brazil. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/18/tech-layoffs-microsoft-amazon-meta-others-have-cut-more-than-60000.html Microsoft, Amazon and other tech companies have laid off more than 60,000 employees in the last year The job cuts in tech land are piling up, as companies that led the 10-year bull market adapt to a new reality. Microsoft said Wednesday that it’s letting go of 10,000 employees, which will reduce the company’s headcount by less than 5%. Amazon also began a fresh round of job cuts that are expected to eliminate more than 18,000 employees and become the largest workforce reduction in the e-retailer’s 28-year history. The layoffs come in a period of slowing growth, higher interest rates to battle inflation, and fears of a possible recession next year. Here are some of the major cuts in the tech industry so far. All numbers are approximations based on filings, public statements and media reports: Microsoft: 10,000 jobs cut Microsoft is reducing 10,000 workers through March 31 as the software maker braces for slower revenue growth. The company also is taking a $1.2 billion charge. “I’m confident that Microsoft will emerge from this stronger and more competitive,” CEO Satya Nadella announced in a memo to employees that was posted on the company website Wednesday. Some employees will find out this week if they’re losing their jobs, he wrote. Amazon: 18,000 jobs cut Earlier this month, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the company was planning to lay off more than 18,000 employees, primarily in its human resources and stores divisions. It came after Amazon said in November it was looking to cut staff, including in its devices and recruiting organizations. CNBC reported at the time that the company was looking to lay off about 10,000 employees. Amazon went on a hiring spree during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company’s global workforce swelled to more than 1.6 million by the end of 2021, up from 798,000 in the fourth quarter of 2019. Salesforce: 7,000 jobs cut Salesforce is cutting 10% of its personnel and reducing some office space as part of a restructuring plan, the company announced Jan. 4. It employed more than 79,000 workers as of December. In a letter to employees, co-CEO Marc Benioff said customers have been more “measured” in their purchasing decisions given the challenging macroeconomic environment, which led Salesforce to make the “very difficult decision” to lay off workers. Salesforce said it will record charges of $1 billion to $1.4 billion related to the headcount reductions, and $450 million to $650 million related to the office space reductions. Meta: 11,000 jobs cut Facebook parent Meta announced its most significant round of layoffs ever in November. The company said it plans to eliminate 13% of its staff, which amounts to more than 11,000 employees. Meta ’s disappointing guidance for the fourth quarter of 2022 wiped out one-fourth of the company’s market cap and pushed the stock to its lowest level since 2016. The tech giant’s cuts come after it expanded headcount by about 60% during the pandemic. The business has been hurt by competition from rivals such as TikTok, a broad slowdown in online ad spending and challenges from Apple’s iOS changes. Twitter: 3,700 jobs cut Shortly after closing his $44 billion purchase of Twitter in late October, new owner Elon Musk cut around 3,700 Twitter employees, according to internal communications viewed by CNBC. That’s about half the staff. Since then, significantly more employees have quit after Musk changed some policies around working from home and wrote that he expected all employees to commit to a “hardcore” work environment. In a tweet on Nov. 4, Musk said there was “no choice” but to lay off employees as the company was losing $4 million per day. https://www.boundingintosports.com/2023/01/philadelphia-flyers-ivan-provorov-stands-by-his-faith-refuses-to-wear-lgbtq-pride-night-jersey/ Philadelphia Flyers’ Ivan Provorov Stands By His Faith, Refuses To Wear LGBTQ+ Pride Night Jersey During the recent match between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Anaheim Ducks, one member of the Flyers did not wear the Pride Night themed rainbow warmup jersey meant to show support for the LGBTQ+ movement. Defensemen Ivan Provorov, a religious Christian and part of the Russian Orthodox Church, abstained from taking part in the compulsory-endorsement of beliefs that go against his faith. For his refusal, the Flyers put out a politically correct response before the online mob descended on them. The reports of Provorov’s refusal to wear the Pride Night jersey were confirmed by head coach John Tortorella, who unlike the statement released by the unnamed team spokesperson, praised the player for standing by his faith instead of throwing him under the bus. https://twitter.com/i/status/1615542361697787906 - Play Video Provorov did speak with the media where he affirmed his position not to take part in the LGBTQ+ propaganda. 1/17 PHI vs. ANA Postgame: Ivan Provorov- Play 0:00-0:16

She also credited her long life to hard work, telling French media in 2022 that she worked until she was 108 years old.

The costs of taking the gospel to the unreached is high, but the Lamb who is worthy to receive the reward of his suffering is infinitely greater.
