"Occupied City" had its world premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for its striking vision from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen ("12 Years A Slave") as he and his producing partner (and real-life partner) Bianca Stigter ("Three Minutes: A Lengthening") adapted her picture book "Atlas of an Occupied City, Amsterdam 1940-1945" during COIVD and shot on location in Amsterdam. The 262-minute long film was further screened at the Telluride Film Festival and the New York Film Festival (which is where this interview took place) and will be released by A24 theatrically this Christmas. McQueen and Stigter were kind enough to spend some time talking with me about the film, which has now been nominated for three Critics Choice Documentary Awards, including Best Historical Documentary, Best Director, and Best Cinematography. Please be sure to take a listen and check out the film, which will be playing in limited release on December 25th from A24. Thank you, and enjoy! Down to Watch is a 90s throwback podcast this week with the cult classic Dark City! Dan and Raul meet a collection of young Kiefers' and Connellys' darting around dark alleys in what looks at first to be an amnesia-based whodunit noir but quickly reveals the sci-fi mind trip it was hiding under its hat like a translucent alien bug. The themes of individualism and free will aren't the only things this movie has in common with The Matrix, and the guys discuss how the two films share sets, storylines, and more. So does the indie look allow this fan favorite to remain evergreen, or do the dated effects and odd acting choices fail to hold up to our memories? Only one way to find out, and it's not a needle to the dome! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/downtopod/message

“51% of what we do is just telling people that we believe in them,” says Ben Griffin, Pastor and City Director of LINC Twin Cities and cousin of host Jeff Meyer. With over twenty years of pastoral experience, Ben understands that his job is to empower others to follow God's path for them. Through his efforts, Ben reminds his fellow dreamers that strategies and networks are in place to help them reach their full potential. Although worrying is natural, Ben reminds the listeners about the vital use of prayer. As feelings of anxiety and fear come, we can overcome these negative emotions and genuinely move forward if we trust God's plan. By telling God what you need and trusting him to guide you, we ultimately put ourselves in the position to work through our discomfort to find fulfillment. Tune into this week's episode of Move Forward Anyway for a reassuring conversation on trusting God with your dreams. Learn more about Jeff and Ben's family history, how failure is part of the road to success, and the importance of leaning on the Lord. Quotes • “51% of what we do is just telling people that we believe in them. I think God's put you in place to do that. Now, we're with you to help figure out what that looks like. The other 49% is bringing in processes and strategies and networks and navigators to walk with you in the process.” (9:27 - 10:00) • “Down the road, we create a map of things to maximize and multiply. So, once you're on the ground, you can take it to the next level.” (10:35 - 10:43) • “Name a person that hasn't failed. Name one person with raging success that didn't come through the road of failures on the way. God uses those things to build and grow us.” (15:32 - 15:46) • “Everything we're doing is seating the leaders of the future. So, overcoming fear comes from that deep-seated way of pressing through. We can't underestimate the power of leaning on the Lord.” (18:04 - 18:19) • “We're trying to help the church be more efficient in the work of the Kingdom so that more and more people know Jesus.” (25:05 - 25:15) • “As entrepreneurs, the first stage is just doing it when we start. But you'll hit a block, and every founder hits that.” (29:15 - 29:22) Links Get in touch with Ben Griffin: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ben-griffin-934a8781/ Email: bgriffin@linc.org Get in touch with host Jeff Meyer: www.jeffmeyer.org Schedule a Discovery Call with Jeff: https://go.oncehub.com/DreamAcceleratorDiscoveryCall Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

After being offered a full-time role with the company, she dove head-first into the startup world and soon found a groove within the community. Today, she co-manages the social media for #yesphx, is the City Director for the Phoenix chapter of House of Genius on top of her full time job as the Marketing Communications Manager at Risas Dental and Braces. She goes on to talk about her love of social media and some of the different platforms, strategies and tactics she's employed over the years.

Suzanne Taylor is serving as the City Director for Polished Fort Worth. She works as an associate attorney at Pope, Hardwicke, Christie, Schell, Kelly & Taplett, LLP practicing Estate Planning, Probate & Trust law. She spends most of her day drafting Wills and Trusts and meeting with clients on how to best plan for their future. Through her work and specifically meeting with young parents planning for their children’s future, she saw a theme in conversations about how the role of women is continuing to evolve and become more complex. Suzanne recognized the crucial importance of clinging to scripture, wise counsel, and the need for accountability as she and others pursue being Godly women during this transitional life stage in their careers and families. Through this desire, the Lord continued to open doors, bring other women into this pursuit, and challenge her with helping bring a ministry to Fort Worth for young professional women to learn how to be bolder in their faith and scripturally approach their many roles. Thus, Polished Fort Worth became a reality for her and others. Suzanne is thrilled yet humbled to serve as City Director for this ministry and continues to be overwhelmed with the Lord’s faithfulness and direction. Prior to practicing law, Suzanne served as Director of External Relations for the President’s Office at Texas Tech University. She is an avid Red Raider where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising as well as her Law Degree. Suzanne is married to a stud named Brandon who oversees the homebuilding process at David Weekley homes. Brandon and Suzanne have one child, Kate, who was born this past March. Brandon and Suzanne help teach the engaged/newly married Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, Arlington and love being invested in the communities of Arlington and Fort Worth. Suzanne spends her free time loving on her sweet baby, helping her husband with home renovation projects, spending time with her family, eating watermelon, and playing with her little black puppy named Raider!
