In this packed episode of The Daily Herold, Jon Herold zeroes in on Barack Obama's alleged central role in orchestrating the Russia hoax, with Trump naming him outright as the “ringleader” of the operation. Jon dissects Trump's latest Truth Social posts, newly declassified memos from James Comey, and a reinvigorated push for accountability tied to the Horowitz IG report. He also explores the curious silence surrounding the DOGE government savings site, Tina Peters updates, and the prospect of Ghislaine Maxwell flipping on elites. Other highlights include a look at OpenAI's massive $500B Stargate expansion, Fed Chairman Powell's job security, and the rising frustration with inflation, interest rates, and political theater. Jon wraps by exposing Israeli efforts to court MAGA influencers and skew U.S. sentiment, Massie's political maneuvering around Epstein transparency, and a few hilarious moments involving Tim Pool and Colbert. At the center of it all? A black hole named Obama, whose gravitational pull on this scandal may finally be too big to ignore.

Trump Rejects Epstein Obsession, Fires Comey's Daughter President Trump lashes out at MAGA supporters still focused on the Epstein case, calling them “past supporters” duped by a hoax. Meanwhile, the DOJ fires Maurene Comey, James Comey's daughter and a former Epstein-related prosecutor. Bryan notes how bizarre the case has become, especially with Ghislaine Maxwell now appealing to the Supreme Court under Epstein's old plea deal. Trump Uses IRS Data to Locate and Deport Illegal Immigrants The administration is now using IRS records, including ITIN filings, to track down updated addresses for undocumented migrants. Democrats warn of racial profiling and mass arrests, but a court has upheld the program. ICE arrests are climbing toward an annual pace of 330,000, with new policies encouraging self-deportation and long-term detention for those apprehended. Eswatini Accepts U.S. Deportees the World Refuses to Take The African kingdom of Eswatini has agreed to imprison deportees that countries like Cuba, Yemen, and Laos refuse to accept. King Mswati III has taken in five convicted criminals for now. Bryan praises the move as a brilliant deterrent: mess with America and end up in a country you can't find on a map. Riots in Spain as Migrant Violence Sparks Vigilante Justice After a 68-year-old Spaniard was beaten by Moroccan migrants, vigilante attacks erupted in Torre Pacheco. Bryan frames this as part of a larger European backlash against open borders and leftist immigration policies that ignore cultural and national identity. Gaza Stampede Kills 20 as Humanitarian Aid Crisis Deepens Armed militants reportedly triggered a deadly panic at a Gaza aid site. Israeli leaders and military officials blame disorganized aid distribution and lingering Hamas interference. Peace talks remain deadlocked over the group's future role and the governance of Gaza. Mali Junta Uses Helicopters to Steal $117M in Gold from U.S. Miner Mali's ruling junta seized a ton of gold from Barrick's mine after a profit-sharing dispute. The theft underscores growing instability and radicalism in Africa, where Russian meddling and Islamic terror groups are driving waves of migration into Europe. Today's Headlines: Israel launched missile strikes on Syria's military HQ in Damascus, potentially destabilizing the new Syrian government amid talks to normalize relations. Despite the Trump administration's request to hold back, Israel is sending more troops to the border, citing threats to the Druze community. Meanwhile, Trump hosted Bahrain's crown prince, who pledged $17 billion in U.S. investments—though details were vague, aside from a symbolic model airplane. Trump also denied plans to fire Fed Chair Jerome Powell, despite telling Republicans otherwise, and floated the Fed's over-budget HQ renovations as a possible excuse. Separately, the administration fired federal prosecutor Maurene Comey—daughter of James Comey—who had handled the Epstein, Maxwell, and Diddy cases, offering no clear reason. Trump mocked his own supporters who believe Epstein conspiracy theories, calling them “weaklings,” while still refusing to release promised files. And in two more Trump-world twists: DHS deported five migrants to Eswatini, an African country none of them were from, and federal agents arrested nine anti-ICE protesters in Spokane. Lastly, $100 million worth of Trump memecoins are unlocking today, padding the president's net worth. Suddenly, Trump and friends don't want to talk about Jeffrey Epstein or what happened to files and client lists that Trump and his conspiracy theorist supporters spent so much time demanding the release of. As MAGA turns on itself, calling for information from Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI leaders Kash Patel and Dan Bongino, Trump is now blaming Democrats. The President, who was very good friends with Jeffrey Epstein and who many have suspected would have his name all over those files, is blaming Presidents Obama and Biden and accusing them of altering whatever's in the files (the files he likely ordered Bondi not to release.) Trump now says Democrats must've tampered with them. It would appear like a preemptive strike from someone who knows his name will come up. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice just fired former FBI director James Comey's daughter Maureen, who served as the prosecutor in the case against Epstein. From an administration that prides itself on “transparency“ why does it look like a big old cover-up? Former federal prosecutor, now defense attorney, David Katz will swing by the show to talk about the termination of Maureen Comey and recent Supreme Court decisions.

In the Diddy case, despite mounting public allegations, corroborating testimony, and a sprawling federal investigation, Comey failed to secure a conviction on key charges—prompting criticism from within the DOJ and from the public, who viewed it as yet another instance of the wealthy and powerful skirting justice. Her role in the Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell matters had already drawn skepticism, particularly over the slow pace of disclosures and missing evidence. Combined, these failures painted a picture of a prosecutor either unwilling or unable to push cases against elite defendants across the finish line.Comey's dismissal is being viewed by many as symbolic of a broader institutional failure. For years, she was positioned as a central figure in prosecutions that promised accountability for Epstein's network of enablers, yet few meaningful outcomes followed. This Day in Legal History: Second Confiscation ActOn July 17, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Second Confiscation Act into law, dramatically expanding federal wartime powers during the Civil War. Building on a more limited first version passed in 1861, the new act authorized the seizure of property—particularly land and slaves—from individuals engaged in or supporting the rebellion. It declared that any Confederate supporter who did not surrender within sixty days would have their property “forfeited and seized” by the United States government. Crucially, the law applied even to those who had not been convicted in court, effectively bypassing traditional due process protections. One of the most controversial aspects was the emancipation provision: slaves of disloyal owners were to be “forever free.” While limited in scope—applying only to territories held by Union forces and to those enslaved by rebels—it marked a key moment in the legal evolution of emancipation as a war aim. Lincoln, a lawyer sensitive to constitutional boundaries, had reservations about the law's due process implications. To address these, he issued a “signing statement” urging that the law be enforced in a way that preserved judicial oversight where possible.Still, the act laid the legal groundwork for broader emancipation efforts, including the Emancipation Proclamation issued six months later. It also reflected increasing pressure from abolitionist Republicans in Congress who sought a more aggressive stance against the Confederacy. The Confiscation Act expanded the Union's legal toolkit for undermining Confederate infrastructure and punishing rebellion, though enforcement was often inconsistent on the ground. It pushed the boundaries of property rights and signaled a shift in federal authority during wartime.A U.S. appeals court appears likely to block the Trump administration's effort to revoke Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nearly 350,000 Venezuelan immigrants. During oral arguments on July 16, 2025, a three-judge panel from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals questioned the abrupt reversal of TPS protections just days after President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem took office. Judges expressed skepticism about the administration's rationale, particularly since the Biden administration had extended TPS protections until October 2026 only two weeks earlier.Judge Kim McLane Wardlaw questioned how conditions in Venezuela could have changed so significantly in such a short timeframe. Government attorney Drew Ensign argued that the Biden administration's extension was legally insufficient and that agencies have the authority to reconsider decisions. However, Judge Anthony Johnstone countered that policy changes must follow proper legal channels, not be masked as legal corrections. Judge Salvador Mendoza raised concerns that Noem and Trump's comments—some of which he described as “arguably racist”—might reflect racial bias in the policy shift. The TPS Alliance, represented by Ahilan Arulanantham, argued that federal law only allows revisions to TPS decisions for minor corrections, not full reversals. District Judge Edward Chen had already blocked the TPS termination in March, citing discriminatory motivations. The case affects Venezuelans who received TPS in 2023, with their status set to expire in April unless court protections remain in place. If the administration's policy holds, earlier TPS recipients from 2021 could also lose their status by September. Several other lawsuits have also challenged the termination of TPS for Venezuelans and Haitians.US judges skeptical of Trump ending Venezuelan migrants' legal status | ReutersNinth Circuit skeptical of Venezuelan immigration status terminations, despite SCOTUS block | Courthouse News ServiceThe U.S. Department of Justice has fired Maurene Comey, a prominent federal prosecutor and daughter of former FBI Director James Comey, without providing a clear reason. Comey had led high-profile prosecutions, including the conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell in the Jeffrey Epstein case and the recent case against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Two anonymous sources confirmed the dismissal and said Comey received a memo citing the president's Article II constitutional authority to remove federal employees. The move comes amid broader personnel changes at DOJ under the Trump administration, which recently reversed its position on releasing Epstein-related documents—an about-face that has frustrated Trump's supporters. Maurene Comey was part of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan and played a key role in Maxwell's 2022 conviction and sentencing. She also prosecuted Combs, who is currently in jail awaiting sentencing for transporting women for prostitution. Although jurors acquitted Combs of the most serious charges, he remains in custody. The dismissal of Comey follows a pattern of DOJ firings under Attorney General Pam Bondi, who recently terminated several prosecutors involved in investigations tied to Trump, including members of Special Counsel Jack Smith's team. James Comey, fired by Trump in 2017, is currently under investigation alongside former CIA Director John Brennan. Neither the DOJ nor Maurene Comey has commented on her termination.US DOJ fires federal prosecutor Maurene Comey, daughter of ex-FBI head James Comey | ReutersEx-FBI Chief James Comey's Daughter Ousted as Federal Prosecutor - BloombergTwenty U.S. states—mostly led by Democratic governors—filed a lawsuit to stop the Trump administration from ending a federal grant program aimed at disaster prevention. The program, known as Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), was launched in 2018 to help fund infrastructure improvements that protect communities from natural disasters such as floods and wildfires. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Boston, argues that FEMA acted beyond its legal authority when it terminated the program in April without congressional approval. The states, led by Washington and Massachusetts, assert that ending BRIC violates the separation of powers, as Congress explicitly funded the program and made disaster mitigation a key function of FEMA. They also contend that the decision-makers at FEMA—former acting director Cameron Hamilton and his successor David Richardson—were not lawfully appointed and therefore lacked authority to shut down the program.FEMA defended the decision by claiming the program had become wasteful and politicized, but bipartisan lawmakers criticized the move, especially given BRIC's importance to rural and tribal communities. He alleges that officers broke his car window, used tear gas on him, and restrained him forcefully, despite his repeated statements that he was a citizen and an employee. The raid was part of a broader immigration enforcement effort under the Trump administration, which began ramping up in June. In this explosive commentary, the host dissects the growing momentum to dismantle the CIA and FBI, punish those who allegedly meddled in elections, and hold figures like James Comey and John Brennan accountable. The segment explores Trump's economic war strategy to separate Russia from China through aggressive tariffs targeting BRICS nations, including India, and delves into the Ukraine conflict, accusing the Biden administration of laundering billions in aid while endangering American security. The speaker passionately argues that buried evidence about the origins of the Russia collusion investigation—the so-called “Crossfire Hurricane” files—could have changed the course of the 2020 election if only Trump had declassified them. As the country grapples with a dual justice system and lingering conspiracy, this segment calls for radical transparency to finally expose the truth and heal the nation.

In this explosive segment, hosts Tara and Lee break down newly revealed evidence showing that the FBI under James Comey concealed proof of Hillary Clinton's criminal mishandling of classified information while simultaneously launching the unsubstantiated Russia collusion investigation into Donald Trump. Citing reporting from John Solomon at Just the News and Inspector General findings buried for eight years, they outline how top intelligence officials, including John Brennan and James Clapper, knowingly advanced false narratives that helped shape elections and fuel geopolitical conflict. They argue this coordinated deception not only corrupted U.S. democracy but also escalated tensions leading to the war in Ukraine. The hosts call for a special prosecutor, declassification of critical documents, and prosecution of those responsible to finally break what they describe as a long-running conspiracy to rig elections and mislead the American people.

President Trump's Justice Department is now criminally investigating James Comey and John Brennan, apparently in retaliation for their role in the Russia probe.  Trump vowed that they may “pay a price”—a direct threat to try to jail them on no basis whatsoever. Meanwhile, Trump is ramping up the paramilitary presence in Los Angeles. All this comes as Trump's approval is at a low point in polling averages and a striking new Gallup survey finds him plummeting fast on immigration, a remarkable indication of deep underlying weakness. We think all this is related: Trump's displays are meant to scam us into thinking he's fearsome and strong—making political resistance appear futile—yet all the authoritarianism is causing public backlash, weakening him in polls further. We talked to Talking Points Memo editor-at-large David Kurtz, who's been sharply dissecting Trump's threats. He explains how deep the abuses are running at DOJ, how Trump's authoritarianism is meant to mask political weakness, and why this toxic downward spiral portends worsening lawlessness to come. Join Jim and Greg for Monday's 3 Martini Lunch as they sift through three controversies, including President Trump trying to turn the page from the Epstein scandal, disturbing reports about Biden's staff handling presidential pardons, and the X account of Elmo from Sesame Street spewing vile anti-Semitism after allegedly getting hacked.First, they break down the long Truth Social post from President Trump urging an end to MAGA infighting over the Justice Department's announcement that there was no Epstein client list, no children were ever exploited, and Epstein did kill himself. Trump also says the Epstein files that do exist were written by President Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, James Comey, and others. But this effort to move on seems to have accomplished exactly the opposite.Next, they dig into a New York Times report revealing that Joe Biden did not specifically choose many of the people he pardoned near the end of his term. He allegedly worked on the criteria for the pardons would be based but his staff ended up choosing the names and signing them with an autopen. So, will these pardons stand up to legal scrutiny? Finally, they cringe as the X account of Elmo, yes Elmo the Muppet, is reportedly hacked after a series of ugly tweets calling for killing all of the Jews. Even assuming it was hacked, Jim suspects this could help to kill taxpayer funding for PBS. Both Jim and Greg are also glad they were old enough to miss the Elmo era entirely on Sesame Street. Please visit our great sponsors:Stop putting off those doctors' appointments and go to https://zocdoc.com/3ML to find and instantly book a top rated doctor today.  If your business can't adapt in real-time, you're in a world of hurt.  Get the free e-book “Navigating Global Trade: 3 Insights for Leaders” from NetSuite by Oracle.  Download today at https://NetSuite.com/MARTINI No missed calls, no missed customers with OpenPhone. On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, WJNO's Brian Mudd fills in for Mark. Will we finally see accountability for James Comey, John Brennan, and James Clapper? CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred Brennan and Comey to the FBI for potential criminal prosecution. Accountability is important to prevent future misconduct, but if there were a trial, it would occur in Washington, D.C. As John Durham learned, there was no way to get an honest D.C. jury. Also, former White House physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor invoked his Fifth Amendment rights and remained silent during a House Oversight Committee interview, refusing to answer questions, including whether he was asked to lie about President Biden's health or if he believed Biden was unfit for duty. O'Connor's refusal to answer seems to show that he was in on the cover-up. Later, during the Biden administration, 59% of jobs (7.9 million) went to U.S.-born workers, while 41% (5.5 million) went to foreign-born workers, including many illegal immigrants. In the first five months of the Trump administration in 2025, 985,000 jobs were added, with a net decline of 735,000 foreign-born workers, resulting in 1.7 million more U.S.-born workers employed. This suggests U.S.-born workers are filling jobs previously held by immigrants, with significant self-deportation likely contributing, as deportations are minimal. Finally, President Trump is the second most efficient U.S. president, behind only FDR, for rapidly advancing his second-term agenda. In roughly 170 days, he signed 170 executive orders, 44 memoranda, 71 proclamations, and five laws, including the One Big Beautiful Bill. Despite a narrow congressional majority, he made the Tax Cut and Jobs Act permanent and introduced 27 tax code changes, retroactive to January 1, 2025, saving taxpayers money through deductions. His speed and success are historically remarkable. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
