Should You Pack Nice Clothes for Dressing Up at Walt Disney World?

Should you dress up in fancy clothes or a semi formal outfit at Walt Disney World? What should you wear to a Signature Dining restaurant at Disney World? Dressing up in upscale resort wear is definitely doable at Walt Disney World. Here's what you need to know. What does Fancy Style Look Like on a Disney vacation? While a Walt Disney World vacation is most often comprised of hot sunny weather and theme park days, there are occasions where you may want to dress up just a little bit for a night out, or dinner and drinks at a Signature Disney restaurant. In most cases, you don't need to bring formal wear or even a jacket and tie, unless you really want to. It is rare to see guests dressed up to that degree, unless they are part of a wedding party or heading to Victoria & Albert's for dinner.Still, it is nice to get a little more dressed up in the evenings, especially if you are heading out for dinner, drinks or to stroll through Disney Springs or see a show. For women, dressing up at Disney World could include a nice breezy dress, or skirt and blouse combination is a great way to get upscale style while still staying in the spirit of your Disney vacation. For men, casual pants or casual shorts (think business casual at work), along with a button-up shirt and casual shoes is the perfect way to go.Dressing up for Dinner at Walt Disney WorldFor Disney Signature Restaurants, there is no singular dress code that applies to all. Victoria & Albert's has the most stringent dress codes, while for the other Signature Dining Restaurants it really depends on the location.Disney World Signature Dining restaurants located inside Disney Parks (such as Le Cellier, Tiffins, Takumi-Tei and the Hollywood Brown Derby) tend to be a little more casual and less formal, since most guests are having a theme park day.For Disney World Signature Dining restaurants located inside Disney Resort Hotels or in Disney Springs the expectation is that guests will respect the restaurant's ambiance and aesthetic with a little bit more attention. No swimwear or ratty torn clothing, but rather neat and tidy resort wear at the very least. You will find the specific dress code for each Disney Signature Dining Restaurant on the restaurant's page at DisneyWorld.com. Disney Signature Dining Dress CodeThe Dress Code on the restaurant page is the same for virtually all Disney Signature Restaurants. It states:This restaurant is a Disney Signature Dining experience offering fine dining with a distinctly magical flair. Guests are expected to dress accordingly in attire that respects the restaurant's sophisticated and upscale aesthetic. Clothing should be clean, neat and in good condition. Please no swimwear.Victoria & Albert's Dress CodeThe Dress Code for Victoria & Albert's is unique as Walt Disney World. It states:Victoria & Albert's is an exquisite and intimate upscale dining experience and the culinary crown jewel of Walt Disney World Resort. Guests are expected to dress accordingly in semi-formal/formal attire that respects the restaurant's elegant and opulent aesthetic.Disney Bounding and Dapper DaysBeyond bringing nicer clothes to dress up at Walt Disney World, guests may also take part in Disney Bounding and the occasional Dapper Days.Disney Bounding is where you create an outfit that is inspired by a Disney character. It's not a character costume, but rather an outfit that takes elements of a character's style that you craft with your own clothes.Dapper Days are specific days (not Disney official) where guests dress to the nines in vintage style clothing and outfits. You'll definitely notice guests dressed up on Dapper Days at Disney, a true celebration of style.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. In the 195th episode of The Main Street Electrical Podcast, Jenn & Dave are hoping you came to the show hungry today... because it's all about dinner at Disney. To properly review and discuss as the great dining that was had in the recent agency trip, 3rd co-host #KylaKylaKyla joins to show -- first to give her tips on adults enjoying Disney Jr Live on Stage, and to comment on Animal Kingdom and what is removable.  Then a rundown of meals shared together, either with Jenn, Dave, and Kyla all taking part, with just Dave and Kyla and significant others, or Dave and Lovely Steph.  Included in this episode is a review of The Yachtsman Steakhouse... Rose & Crown... Raglan Road... Mama Melrose... Shiki Sai in Epcot... The Hollywood Brown Derby... and a quick look at Topolino's atop the Riviera Resort.  And along the way, lots of laughs and some nonsense, as does happen when the three get together.

Hello, Guests and welcome to Birthday Trip to WDW - Part 2. In Part 1 last week, Scott talked about his first meal of the trip at Ronto Roasters, which is in Galaxy's Edge, his first ride of the trip - Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular show and the time he spent with his friend, Kevin Brassard, after the show and the backstage tour Kevin gave him. Scott also talked about his actual birthday - January 30 - and how magical that day was because he got to spend time with some great friends - Billy, Russell, Dan, Shawn, and Karen. It was also magical because he had a Dole Whip Float with coconut rum! In today's episode, Scott talks about his day at Universal with his friend and former podcast Guest, Jason Mangano, the amazing lunch he had at The Hollywood Brown Derby, his time with his pal, Bill Disbennett, at the Tri-Circle D Ranch, the After Hours at Magic Kingdom special ticket event, and so much more…including more fun audio recordings that he took on this trip!  Scott also does another round of "On This Day in Disney History," where he talks about some fun Disney history facts on the day a new episode drops. We know you're just going to love listening to the rest of Scott's recap in Birthday Trip to Walt Disney World - Part 2! It's fancy restaurant versus also fancy restaurant! As we descend further toward deciding which Hollywood tribute land is the best, we have to talk about signature restaurants. Which is better? The Hollywood Brown Derby has a neon sign and is a replica of a real place. The Carthay Circle Restaurant is a food place crammed into what should be a replica of a theater. It's going to be closer than you think. Check in with your pals who labored extensively (one of them) over this decision. We apologize just a but, but the real show doesn't start until 30 minutes in. So skip there if you don't want to listen to mail. I am not sure if anybody reads these because I know I rarely do. Have a swell February, folks. Welcome to Episode 87 of the RetroWDW Podcast: Hungry For Hollywood - We appreciate your support and hope you have been enjoying each and every episode. Be sure to check out some of our previous shows from over the years. We have visited multiple parks, resorts, and just about everything else in between. Listener Mail We open the mailbag monthly and are ready to hear from you. Be sure to reach out with questions, stories, memories, and more. You never know if your letter will be read on a future episode: podcast@retrowdw.com Our first letter is from Mike and he is curious about a particular stairway at Magic Kingdom. We need some experts out there to help Mike out with this stairway and what happened to it.... Amy is our next letter and she is a new listener, welcome! Amy gives us some great information about working at The Disney Institute and how she was able to take courses for free as an employee. Thanks for the fun stories Amy. Another Amy, another letter. This Amy is talking about Episode 32 which was all about Universe of Energy. She gives us some information on the dinosaur song we spoke of, which can be heard here. Enjoy! Sylvia is up next and she is curious as to what happened with the Cigar Store Indians from Magic Kingdom. We give some insight into those and where they might have ended up. She also wanted to know where this photo was taken... Thanks for your letter Sylvia! Emily is the next note we received, she was showing off her Dreamfinder Watch, which you can still get for yourself or as a gift. Visit our LBV History page for more information. Paula wrote in with another vintage family photo taken on Main Street. We have been collecting these gems where you dress up and it looks old timey. Thanks Paula! Finally, our last letter is from Donna and she speaks about the Room with a Skew and how her son loved playing in there. Donna is a former Gold Key Member along with Todd and she has some fighting words for Brian, which leads to a little history about The Pretzel Belt. Who knew? Main Topic Buckle up because we are going back to Hollywood, well the way it was in your memories, but never was. Brian is leading us through the early years of food and drink at the Disney-MGM Studios. One of the last great theme parks on Disney property and one that always has fascinating stories coming to us about the opening days and how things were drastically different when compared to now.  We get to go through the different eateries that existed in the early years, including the Hollywood Brown Derby. How as very disappointed that it wasn't in the shape of a derby hat. We also discuss the Echo Lake restaurants, highlighting that the Fifties Primetime Cafe and the Hollywood and Vine cafeteria share a kitchen. The team discussed the unique dining experience offered at these restaurants and the challenges faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our handy Birnbaum's guide is utilized throughout the episode, as is our good friend Reimund Pitz, who you may remember joined us during RetroMagic 50. Take a trip with us and Reimund around the Disney-MGM Studios, discussing each restaurant and how each menu has been changed over the years. We lost a ton of great options over the years and we even get a little history along the way about why some of these changes have happened. We hope you enjoy! As predicted, it's the end of the line for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, the ill-fated Disney immersive experience. The three reasons why this failed, plus magical Steamboat Willie at the new Disneyland Hotel DVC tower and a tempting new menu for Hollywood Brown Derby at Hollywood Studios. As Predicted, Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser is DoneIt was doomed to fail before it ever sailed, which we discussed at length most recently in Episodes 163 and 168We now know the final voyage for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will take place Sept. 28-30, 2023.While Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was one of our most creative projects Disney has ever implemented at Walt Disney World, there were a number of epic fails that have led to its demise.·       Bad marketing that pandered to "influencers" and turned off their upscale target guest demographic·       An immersive experience that wasn't truly immersive, a ban on mobile devices should have been number one·       Guest accommodations that were not of the stature they should have been. This could have been remedied while staying on theme.Disney is currently contacting guests who had booked voyages to sort out how they will manage this in the time remainingAll is not lost, however. We shared several ideas for what we believe are workable solutions for this space. So we will see how things evolve over the coming months.-- Steamboat Willie at the Upcoming Villas at Disneyland HotelClassic Disney animation is at the heart of the theming for the upcoming Disney Vacation Club property at Disneyland Hotel (opening in September). As part of this, the new Palette Pool, Palm Breeze Bar, and themed splash pad will incorporate elements from Steamboat Willie.A large model of the Steamboat Willie boat will be captained by Mickey Mouse as it comes to life with fun water play features. From the boat's cascading waterfall, misty fog effects rising from the boat's funnels and the variety of pop jets and fountains, it promises to be an instant classic for your little ones. Thanks to a little Disney magic, after dark the Steamboat Willie splash pad will transform from black and white to vivid colors with the help of some artistic lighting. For us older kids, the artist-palette-shaped pool anchored by rainbow glow of multi-colored lounge areas will be a place to relax and unwind.Drinks and snacks will be available at the Palm Breeze Bar. This outdoor venue will feature modern decor inspired by the imaginative artistry of Disney Legend, Mary Blair (who also worked on it's a small world and the murals in the Grand Canyon Concourse at Walt Disney World's Contemporary Resort Hotel).-- New Seasonal Menu at The Hollywood Brown DerbyHollywood Brown Derby at Disney's Hollywood Studios recently launched a new seasonal menu. Will this help to elevate this Signature Dining to a level that it has never really reached?New starters include the Crab Louie, which features crispy olive bread, citrus blend, fried capers and Louie sauce. There's also Shrimp Cocktail topped with shaved fennel cucumbers and a traditional cocktail sauce. For cheese lovers, the Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Salad combines shaved onions, Thai basil, gremolata, and a delicious citrus vinaigrette, while the Charcuterie Board features the Chef's selection of cured meats, cheeses, and accompaniments. An Escargot app is accompanied by roasted garlic béchamel and crispy prosciutto and the Roasted Bone Marrow is composed of braised beef, pickled mustard seeds and a fig bread crostini. The entrée menu includes a classic Filet Mignon with glazed carrots, potato pave, horseradish cream and a peppercorn sauce. The Lamb Shank comes with summer vegetables, harissa vinaigrette, and nasturtium chermoula. The new Free-Range Chicken and Dumplings dish features a lemon-ricotta Gnudi, shishito cream, and a gooseberry jus. If pork is your thing, the recently added Grilled Pork comes with a lavender-sage polenta and local corn salsa, complete with a huckleberry barbecue sauce. On the seafood side, the Sustainable Fish dish has a white bean ragout, derby summer vegetables, and roasted tomato emulsion. The Seafood Cioppino brings together shrimp, sea scallops, seasonal fish, mussels, a toasted baguette and aromatic tomato broth. Finally, there's even a classic comfort dish in the Shepherd's Pie. This combines roasted garlic mashed potatoes, mushrooms, peas, corn, and carrot Romesco and it's plant-based.Disney notes that the Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake are both still on the menu.--Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. Hollywood Brown Derby Cobb Salad(found on www.disneyfoodblog.com)Salad Ingredients:-1 cup chopped iceberg lettuce leaves, washed and spun dry -1 cup chopped chicory leaves, washed and spun dry (radicchio and curly endive work just the same) -1 cup tender sprigs of watercress, washed and spun dry -1 pound turkey breast, finely chopped -2 medium-sized, ripe tomatoes, peeled, seeded and finely chopped -1 avocado, peeled, seeded and finely chopped -½ cup crumbled blue cheese (about 2 ½ ounces) -6 strips bacon, cooked crisp, drained, and crumbled* -3 hard boiled eggs, peeled and finely chopped -2 tablespoons snipped fresh chives -1/2 cup bleu cheese, crumbled -½ cup The Hollywood Brown Derby Old Fashioned French Dressing (not the orange French dressing we are used to, more like a vinaigrette)Dressing Ingredients:-2 tablespoons of water -2 tablespoons red wine vinegar -1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice -½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce -½ teaspoon salt, or to taste -½ teaspoon minced garlic (one clove) -¼ teaspoon of sugar -1/8 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, or to taste -1/8 teaspoon dry English mustard (ground mustard works too!) -1/3 cup vegetable oil -2 tablespoons olive oilDirections:Step 1: Cook bacon and hard-boiled eggs. For an easy tip, cook bacon in the oven at 350 F for 30-40 mins. while preparing everything else!Step 2: Next you want to work on your dressing! In a small bowl, combine water, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic, sugar, pepper, and dry mustard. You are adding ALL of the dressing ingredients except vegetable oil and olive oil. Whisk together until well blended. Whisking constantly, add the vegetable oil and olive oil in a steady stream until the dressing is emulsified. Store covered and chilled until ready to serve. Whisk the dressing to blend just before serving.Step 3: The art and beauty of this salad is that all the ingredients are all very finely chopped! So, get to chopping! Finely chop the iceberg lettuce, chicory, and watercress. Toss the finely chopped iceberg lettuce, chicory and watercress together and arrange in a large salad bowl.Step 4: Chop all ingredients (turkey, avocado, tomatoes, blue cheese, bacon, and eggs). What I learned is that it is better to keep all of these items in separate bowls until you are ready to serve the salad. That way you don't have tomato juices running through the lettuce and other items making everything soggy.Step 5: When ready to serve, arrange all ingredients in straight and separate lines across the top of the greens. Sprinkle the snipped chives in two diagonal lines across the top of the salad (I found it easier just to make one line).Step 6: At the table when you are ready to serve, pour in all of your dressing and toss the entire salad.

Our favorite vegan foods in Magic Kingdom are the meatless sloppy joe at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, the Curried Vegetable Crew Stew at Skipper Canteen, the Impossible Meatloaf from Liberty Tree Tavern, and the Veggie Rice Bowl at Pecos Bill's Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. At EPCOT we highly recommend eating Vegan at Le Cellier and trying the Steamed Asian Dumplings, or ANYTHING at the Earth Eats Booth at the Food and Wine Festival. At Hollywood Studios, there's vegan food at the Brown Derby and vegan meals at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. The vegan dish at the Hollywood Brown Derby is Ginger-Lemongrass Pho. AMAZING. However, the best vegan at Hollywood Studios (IMO) is the Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread. So flavorful, so filling, and mind-blowing for a vegan counter service meal at Disney. At Animal Kingdom be sure to hit up Satu'li Canteen to build your own bowl with fried tofu. There are also vegan food options at Tiffins, Tusker House, Harambe Market, Flame Tree Barbecue, and even Restaurantosaurus.
