It's your usual Arthouse Tuesday with a massive wallop of a blockbuster at the front end. Like we like to say around here, we do it all at Breakfast All Day. We begin with a super-early review of "Gladiator II," Ridley Scott's follow-up to his 2000 best-picture Oscar winner. Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger and Connie Nielsen star in this sweeping historical epic. This is a spoiler-free review. In theaters Nov. 22. Then it's back to your regular Tuesday programming with a discussion of "Christmas Eve in Miller's Point." Tyler Taormina's film is a shaggy hang that follows a sprawling Italian-American family over Christmas Eve in suburban Long Island. Maria Dizzia, Michael Cera, Matilda Fleming, Francesca Scorsese and Sawyer Spielberg are among the massive ensemble. In theaters in limited release. Finally, another small gem we really enjoyed: "Meanwhile on Earth" from French writer-director Jérémy Clapin, whose 2019 animated feature "I Lost My Body" was nominated for an Academy Award. Megan Northam stars as a young woman mourning the loss of her astronaut brother. But when a mysterious voice comes to her and offers her a bargain, she wonders whether she can bring him back. In theaters in limited release. Come on back Friday when we'll have reviews of "Red One," "Hot Frosty" and "Bird," plus movie news. Have a great week and we'll see you then! * Subscribe to Christy's Saturday Matinee newsletter: https://christylemire.beehiiv.com/

Opinions on the movie were split, so we get into some of our differences, Tate was the only one who remembered how the movie started, but Jacob and Sage remembered who Gigi was. This movie was directed by Jérémy Clapin. GD4AM: 80/100 IMDb: 7.5/10 Metacritic: 81/100 RT: 97% A story of Naoufel, a young man who is in love with Gabrielle. Sam Bradley is an artist, art director and writer based in Toronto. He was born in the early eighties and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. Mostly through happenstance he attended Sheridan College, where he quickly discovered a passion for the visual arts. After graduating from Sheridan's BA Animation program he began his career in the animation industry, where he has worked primarily as a designer and art director on many different television series over the course of ten years. Previous to creating & directing SPACE BETWEEN STARS, he was the Art Director on Justin Time GO, a Netflix original series created and produced at GURU STUDIO. Alongside his work in animation, he has a deep love for consuming & creating comics. His heart is split between his creative pursuits, traveling the world with the people dearest to him, and befriending dogs whenever and wherever possible. In a move similar to 2019's "I Lost My Body," the French-language animated film based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Jiro Taniguchi called "The Summit Of The Gods," premiered at this year's Cannes Film Festival and was later acquired by Netflix. It's a gorgeously animated film filled with intense drama and universal themes. The writer and director, Patrick Imbert, was kind enough to spend time talking with me about his journey in making the film and all of the meticulous care that goes into crafting an animated film. After the success of The Willoughbys, Netflix is poised to position themselves for another run at the Best Animated Feature Oscar in 2020. The animated film that many think Netflix will promote the hardest for that category, OVER THE MOON, is coming out this Friday and we have your full review featuring special guest Josh Cain (@JoshLCain) of Animation Station & What's Up, Fandom. We discuss the expectations of the film after Netflix's big 2019 animation breakout (Klaus, I Lost My Body) & their release of The Willoughbys back in April, the career of long time Disney animator & the film's first-time director Glen Keane, the nods to The Wizard of Oz from screenwriter Audrey Wells, the Oscar chances in Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature, & much, much more. As the film comes out this Friday, we give you a lengthy non-spoiler section up top and, after a brief warning, a spoiler section at the very end. OVER THE MOON is an animated musical centered on a girl named Fei Fei who builds a rocket ship and blasts off, hoping to meet a mythical moon goddess. The film features the voice acting work of an incredible all-Asian cast which includes the likes of Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Grey's Anatomy), Ken Jeong (Community, The Hangover, Crazy Rich Asians), John Cho (Star Trek, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, American Pie), Phillipa Soo (Hamilton), Ruthie Ann Miles (The King and I), Margaret Cho (Comedian, Drop Dead Diva), & many more. Directed by Glen Keane (Disney Animator for Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled). Written by Audrey Wells (Under The Tuscan Sun, The Truth About Cats & Dogs). In the "My Movie Minute" podcast, Charlie and Mark choose scenes which are no more than one minute in length from the movies that they love to analyse and reminisce over. This week, it is another early 90s nostalgia-fest with Charlie choosing to talk about a scene from one of his favourite childhood movies. They discuss remakes, movies made "for everyone", powerful openings and VHS collections. On the periphery, this week's chat briefly mentions movies such as "I Lost My Body", "West Side Story", "Psycho", "The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas" and "Toy Story" - but non of these are the main event. We had a doozy of an episode for this week. We start off with a clip of audio from episode 7 when we saw F&F8 before we knew Hobbs and Shaw was gonna be a thing. Then we discuss the trailer for 9, talk Cheer and go into The Outsider...and maybe decide to take on 9 seasons of the X-Files?! After we get that stuff out of the way we talk about an animated feature ‘I Lost My Body’ on Netflix and a VOD feature ‘House with a View of The Monster’. Then we talk theatricals of The Turning and The Gentlemen!

Ben (@TopFilmTip) and Rich (Betamax Video Club podcast) join Flixwatcher to review Ben’s choice the Oscar nominated animation I Lost My Body. I Lost My Body is a 2019 French animated film based on the book Happy Hand by Guillaume Laurant (who also co-wrote the screenplay) and directed by Jérémy Clapin. It won the Nespresso Grand Prize (critics choice) at Cannes making it the first animation to do so. I Lost My Body is almost two stories, one is the story of a severed hand, dancing and fighting its way across Paris while having to defend itself against rats and pigeons to rejoin its owner. The second is a sad story of orphan Naoufel, who fails at delivering pizza but by chance meets Gabrielle who opens his world to other opportunities. Scores [supsystic-tables id=148] I Lost My Body is best watched non dubbed with subtitles to get the full Paris flavours and charms and with a run time of 81 minutes, it’s very much worth your attention. I Lost My Body scored fairly well, let down a little by repeat viewing but still scores a respectable 3.21 overall. What do you guys think? Have you seen I Lost My Body? What did you think? 'Tis the season (nearly) so we unwrap our presents early and discuss Paul Feig's festive comedy Last Christmas, as well as take a look at offbeat animation I Lost My Body.Written by Emma Thompson, Last Christmas stars Emilia Clarke (aka Daenerys Targaryen) as Christmas shop worker Kate, a down-on-her-luck Londoner who meets handsome stranger Tom, who seems too good to be true. I Lost My Body tells the bizarre story of a severed hand who, having been removed from it's owner's arm, frantically roams the streets of Paris looking for its former body. Hosted on Acast.
