See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As technology becomes increasingly accessible across the globe, more must be done to ensure its use in education remains equitable, scalable, and sustainable. That's according to Manos Antoninis, Director of the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report, produced by the UN agency specializing in education, science and culture, UNESCO.In an interview for UN News, he's been outlining the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in education, how to improve safety online, the future of artificial intelligence (AI), and describing how online education resources can be tailored to a more diverse, global audience.Jordan Larrabee spoke with Mr. Antoninis just ahead of the launch of this year's GEM Report in Uruguay on Wednesday.
Artificial Intelligence may be the buzzword of the day, but before we know it, two new concepts may soon steal the limelight: Disruptive-tech and Artificial General Intelligence. That's according to Janet Adams, chief operating officer of AI experts SingularityNet, who maintains that these up-and-coming technologies have massive potential to combat inequality, in line with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda. To find out more, UN News's Elma Okic caught up with Ms. Adams at the AI For Good Summit in Geneva earlier this month.

UN chief says guardrails needed for AI to ‘benefit everyone'Myanmar atrocities and impunity must end: TürkSudan: close to three million displaced
Close to 200 million people around the world are unemployed, and fears are rising that artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as Chat GPT will put even more people out of a job.Alongside AI threats to the labour market, positive effects are also expected, such as helping workers automate more repetitive tasks to free up time for higher value work. But given the gaping digital divide between wealthier and poorer nations, will developing countries be able to reap AI's productivity benefits?Senior Economist Janine Berg from the International Labour Organization (ILO) is currently driving new research on the impact of AI on the world of work. She sat down with UN News's Dominika Tomaszewska-Mortimer to assess the latest developments.
Since the launch of Chat GPT in November 2022, artificial intelligence (AI) has been dominating headlines, sparking excitement but also concern over the pace at which the technology is developing and driving misinformation. The UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Technology, Amandeep Gill, is busy working on a Global Digital Compact to be adopted at the UN's Summit of the Future in 2024 – a “once-in-a-generation” opportunity for leaders to agree on common principles for addressing tech challenges.Ahead of Wednesday's World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, he has been talking to UN News's Dominika Tomaszewska-Mortimer about using AI for good, why it's not too late to regulate, and how getting AI governance right will be important for multilateralism itself.
Is Megan Real? Is this something that will become a part of our every day lives over the next few years? We're exploring Artificial Inteligence and our feelings about it in our everyday activities.
The truth is based on facts and enables conversations and arguments revolving around all subjects of life, BUT, the concept of truth, as we know it is dead, or at least dying. Truth has been challenged throughout history, from the days of Kain and Abel. In recent years social media, and the democratization of content creation tools has put truth under more pressure, but still extensive massive truth manipulation required resources who can only be obtained by governments and large corporations. All this changed with the introduction of generative AI. Tools like:
In today's episode, Chad, Michael and Doug discuss what on earth is going on with all the talk about AI. An abbreviation for Artificial Inteligence, we discuss some of the overwhelming positives of the capability of AI, but also quickly point out where it has either failed, or leaves too many questions. Rudy speaks about the beginnings of his career as a translator and interpreter after he moved to the United States. He talks about his work as a former grader of the ATA certification program, his active and extensive volunteer work in the ATA as a former administrator of the Spanish Language Division, and his service as a former director and secretary of the ATA Board.Rudy shares interesting anecdotes of his career, reflects on the evolution of the profession, explains the difference between mechanical and strategic translation, and, from his perspective as an instructor, he opines on how the translator of the future should be trained in the face of the constant evolution of artificial intelligence in the fields of translation and interpretation.
The SIMULATION will not be televised. In this episode, we start with a chat about one of our collective favorite television series, “Hannibal” with Mads Mikkelson and how he played the undisputed (to us) Hannibal Lecter, Which somehow lead to us touching on the disappearance and murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. We then take a deeper dive into the large scale thoughts of excessive use in the world of not only CCTV but also new government facial recognition that can scan photos and use algorithms to pinpoint and find people in a crowded photo and match each and every person throughout all social media and the internet. This leads to a much larger and more mind-bending discussion on how Hollywood and the “industry” may be using television shows and films to normalize certain things in our daily lives by psychic leading and planting ideas early to condition us. As both of us have struggled with depression and anxiety in our lives, and both suffered from massive anxiety/panic attacks, we begin linking the feeling of being “in the moment” and being “fully present” during the feeling of panic or attack to the feelings of things like deep meditation, hyping jerks when almost asleep while mid awake / dream, paranoia during a marijuana high or psilocybin, DMT, or LSD psychedelic trip, and pulling together the similarities between the two as that could have pretty massive benefits if you could learn to harness it and live in the moment at all times. We get even deeper on the “Simulation Hypothesis” which is the idea that our physical reality is far from being a solid physical universe and is part of an increasingly sophisticated video game-like simulation where we all have multiple lives consisting of pixels with its own internal clock run by some giant Artificial Intelligence. Simulation Theory explains some of the biggest mysteries of quantum and relativistic physics, such as quantum indeterminacy, parallel universes, and the integral nature of the speed of light. This leads to more on the ideas of the multiverse theory, parallel lives we are living and when they glitch or converge as well as a little touch on quantum physics.

I've been hearing a lot of reviews and even a lot of theories but this movie wasn't good and we have to tell the truth here. This movie had a couple good things a tone of bad things.Starting with the good things:- it brought nostalgia back and i enjoyed that, up to a point when it was too much and it looked stupid; - John Williams...one of the best part of the whole saga 1 to 9...period; - Han Solo cameo...Harrison Ford brought value to this movie and i liked that father-son moment; - giving the fact that they had so little to work with they did a decent job with Leia;Other than that that's not really much good stuff in my opinion tbhLet's see the bad stuff:- PALPATINE: from where TF did you pull out Palpatine?!? and why?!? If you tell me that this was the plan all along, to bring Palpatine back i say BS...big BS. First of all if you want to bring him back built the story from the beginning right from TFA, don't throw him in the last episode. See Avengers or Lord of the rings...we know who's the bad guy there is no surprise there. The movie starts with a "death voice mail" from Palpatine, announcing everyone that he's back...not too smart from Palpatine, a master manipulator. Not to mention that we don't know how he got back, they just used a quote from the ROTS. I guess we have to wait for the book or for a leek to find out. The most disturbing fact about Palpatine's return in my opinion is that they took away Darth Vader's sacrifice. I mean the fact that he gave his life to destroy Palpatine means jack shit now; -general Hux: i liked the character in TFA and they could've built him but instead Ryan Johnson choose to smash him to the ground and walls. Not much room for fear and respect there. What did he end up? A spy and a traitor...what a stupid idea; -the knights of Ren: they did jack shit...nothing..ohh wait they did...they got killed...by Kylo Ren. They could've done so much more with them; - if there is something annoying in this movie than it's Rey and her over power skills...like when did you learn that and how?!? because Luke didn't teach her, by the contrary he din't teach her shit...maybe from Leia(because she can fly in space right). Force healing? blocking Palpatine's force lighting? i would've seen Yoda or Mace Windu doing that as high ranking Jedi masters but not Rey with 1 and a half year training; -Rey is Palpatine's niece: so Palpatine had a wife or girlfriend(where was she all this time) and they had a son. Why didn't he used his son for his purpose...he must've been strong with the force. Are we not going to talk about the fact that Palpatine had sex?!? lol; I mean i can keep write about stupid things that happened in all 3 movies but i feel i wrote too much anyway. The whole movie was a roller coaster with light speed. Jumping from a planet to another planet. Everything was rushed, i think they should've waited more. I mean it's the end of a saga, this movie should've been greater than Avengers End Game. The saddest thing is i felt nothing...i left the cinema and i felt nothing about Star Wars and i don't know who to blame? JJ, Rian, or Disney? How did we get here? Why they didn't used George Lucas? It's his "baby" anyway. To finish in a positive note i think there is still hope. The Mandolorian..brilliant tv show i love everything about it(i will write a separate review) and there is also Kenobi on the pipe which i'm dying to see it.Other than that i think you guys are doing an incredible job with your podcast, i'm totally your fan, i listen to you guys every week and i enjoy every episode. I wish you guys success and all the best in the new year. May the force be with you...always :)P.S. : please excuse my spelling mistakes or grammar :)
