Yay, it's an upload! And a very digestible one. A much longer episode is coming soon, but for now, enjoy what is likely the first of many Greg essays that I promise won't go on longer than 15 to 30 minutes. Here is a subshow under the Beyond the Wind Door label like Greg is Afraid, that I am calling Miles To Go Before I Sleep. In this essay, I will relate an experience with indie visual novel and Uber simulator, Neo Cab. And how a bad ending led me to a sleepless night, emotional resonance, and a busy brain. All music is by Kevin McLeod, including "Magic Forest", "Private Reflection", "Resignation", "Heart of Nowhere" and "Babylon"
In our first two-part episode, we'll be speaking with a couple super-talented people from the narrative development and consultation studio Sweet Baby Inc! This week our guest is Paula Rogers, a game writer who made a name for herself with the award-winning Neo Cab. She's since taught game design at the University of Texas in Austin and done narrative development for several high-profile studios. Paula even shares a personal ghost story with us

Writer and narrative designer Leigh Alexander, known for her work on games like Neo Cab and Reigns: Her Majesty, talks through some of her thoughts on the current state of narrative design in games and its potential for the future. How can narrative designers meet a younger audience where they already are? Is it possible to harness the undeniable power of social media in more constructive ways? And what can we learn from looking back to the games and other future-looking media of the past?
Kim Belair is a writer and narrative designer who has worked on a wide range of games, from big franchises like the recent Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to smaller, more unique titles like Neo Cab and Goodbye Volcano High. She talks Jordan through what it was like to work on Valhalla, the latest entry to a series with more than a decade of history, and how she contributed to what makes it different (no spoilers!). Then, the conversation expands into broader questions about the work of writing video games. How does it differ across games and teams? What’s the role of a narrative development company like Sweet Baby? And what are Kim’s hopes for the future of storytelling in games?
Josh, Laurie & Ian don their enchanted robes and perform an arcane ritual to invoke this latest instalment of Til Death Do Us Press Start! In addition to harboring dark wizard thoughts, the sorcerous trio conjure a mystical mixture of magical musings on games including Saints Row: Gat out of Hell, Journey, Noita, Tap! Dig! My Museum!, Neo Cab, Over the Alps, Star Wars Battlefront II, The Order: 1886, Trine 2, Murder by Numbers and House Flipper.
With The Last of Us 2 and Paper Mario: Origami King about to drop, I decided to backtrack and play the last entry in each series for the first time. With no spoilers beyond basic early-game plot points, I discuss my experience at the halfway point of The Last of Us, praising its world building, character development and notable cohesion. Neo Cab is praised for its intimate and well-rendered nocturnal taxi driver story. Paper Mario: Sticker Stars comes in for some critique for falling foul of basic point 'n' click tropes. Finally, I discuss the downside of Jedi: Fallen Order's Metroid-inspired level design. The Last Of US Remastered is available to play on PlayStation 4, and free for PSNow subscribers. The soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla is here: https://open.spotify.com/album/2GFFxj8aR2XpwIMYanOPjh Neo Cab is currently on offer on Steam. Paper Mario: Origami King comes out on Nintendo Switch on July 17th. Join me for chats and streams on Twitter, Twitch and Instagram.

The first rule of this latest episode of Til Death Do Us Press Start is do not talk about Jenga. The second rule is also do not talk about Jenga, leaving the crew no choice but to discuss Neo Cab, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Fallout 76: Wastelanders, Unreal Tournament 2004, The Division 2: Warlords of New York, Resident Evil 3 and Half-Life: Alyx instead. But definitely not Jenga.
Today we've got Jo (writer of games and short stories, and has written on Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect: Andromeda, and is currently at EA working on an unannounced project) and Paula (writing lead and story editor on Neo Cab. She's also adapted Let’s Play from Webtoon into an animated series and has had her fiction and essays featured in outlets like Salon, the Austin Film Festival, and more) talking with us about masters degrees, delivering criticism, the most helpful piece of feedback they've ever received, how they like to collaborate with others, things they've appreciated in games that might go generally unnoticed, keeping track of branching stories and how to maintain consistency and pacing, when to stop writing, parody games, writing tests that best represent their skills, whether games are too focused on learning from Hollywood blockbusters, the last story that surprised them, and more! Our Guests on the InternetJo's TwitterPaula's Twitter and WebsiteStuff We Talked AboutStar Wars: The Old RepublicNeo CabDoom (2016)Portal 2TacomaThe Pomodoro TechniqueStar Wars Jedi: Fallen OrderDance Dance RevolutionPortrait of a Lady on FireThe Dark Crystal: Age of ResistanceOur theme music was created by Isabella Ness, and our logo was created by Lily Nishita.

Welcome back to Let’s Play Arcade! The outline of this show is simple. We’ve got: Two best friends. One randomly selected Apple Arcade game. Two fresh new semi-randomly selected beers (we basically just grab something new that we see on the shelf). We don’t talk about the game at all before we record, so we’ll be learning each other’s thoughts and impressions live on air. At the end of each episode, we’ll also randomly draw the game for our next offering, so you’ll always know what’s coming up on the next adventure. Part of the appeal of doing this show was just getting to “hang out” more often. Back in the day we’d be able to meet up for a beer, but because of where we live at this point, it just can’t really happen. For each episode of Let’s Play Arcade!, we’ll also be cracking open (and sort-of reviewing) a random beer as well. Neither of us really know anything about beer (or drink it all that often), so while we don’t know what anyone has to gain from us talking about them, we’ll see what happens! Each episode will also feature an ‘after show’, where we’ll basically drivel on about whatever we feel like (stick around after the end theme if you want to listen). This episode, we’re talking about the Apple Arcade critical darling Neo Cab, and our opinions of the game surprised even us. Thanks again for coming along on this ride!

Im Cast besprochene Spiele: Impeached, Pilgrims, Detroit: Become Human, Neo Cab, Pine, Raiders Of The Lost Bark

There's a lot packed in this week. Ben chats around his review for Neo Cab but has mostly been playing Nintendo's new mobile offering Mario Kart Tour. Lucy finished Gears of War 5 and has been enjoying the new offerings included in the Apple Arcade subscription including Sayonara Wild Hearts and What the Golf. Finally, Aadil brings up his and Ben's attempt to play MLB The Show 19, digital baseball may not be for them. There are plenty of beers too with Lucy drinking the Beavertown and Borderlands promo beer 'Bandit Brew' followed up by 'Double Triangles' from Garage. Aadil skips of the pond for Half Acre's 'Deep Space' and comes back for 'Ain't Much Happening In the West Midlands'. Ben has two from Northern Monk starting with 'It's Great Up North' and then 'Newer World IPA'. There's also a tiny bit of singing trying to remember this

You ain't lived until you've put in your time in the gig economy. NEO CAB is a game all about being the last human Uber driver in a futuristic San Francisco-ish city, and we've got creative director Patrick Ewing on the show to tell us about how this weird, beautiful narrative about long rides, short conversations, and flaky friends came together. You'll hear about the people they consulted, like the enigmatic UBER GOD, how you design a game narrative focused on brief conversations with (possibly hostile) strangers, and what lessons Patrick learned from working at Campo Santo making Firewatch. The Waypoint Radio crew is staying in the spooky spirit this week, as Cado reports back from the Moon (still haunted) in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. Austin was going to try to join him, but he got spooked by the lack of clarity in Destiny's UI. Danielle brings us the horror of the gig economy in Neo Cab. Rob was both spooker and spookee in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, a game with problematic story, but extremely compelling mechanics. And Patrick regales us with the horrors of ISP data caps!At the end of the podcast, we talk about a few big changes to the Waypoint Radio crew. Danielle is bidding farewell to her time at Vice, and Austin is stepping back from his editorial role. Austin will continue to host Waypoint Radio, but Danielle will be moving on to bigger and better things. We'll miss you, Danielle! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

A deeper look into Chance Agency's latest game Neo Cab with creative lead Patrick Ewing. Neo Cab is an emotional survival game about staying human in a world disrupted by automation. You play as Lina, the last human driver on the neon-drenched streets of Los Ojos. When your friend and only lifeline mysteriously vanishes, you're on your own in an unfamiliar city. Choose your passengers— and your words— wisely. If you can balance your cash, star rating and emotional health, you might just keep your job long enough to find her. Will be available on Steam, itch.io, & Nintendo Switch late 2019.

In this episode, your hard rocking hosts, Däniel Wilks and David Wildgööse are joined by their previously missing guest Dan Stäines to talk about Titan Quest Atlantis, Neo Cab, Minecraft, Heaven's Vault and more, but most importantly they finally get around to talking about the game they've been threatening to discuss for weeks, the deeply flawed but metal as hell Brütal Legend. Will out heroes talk way too much about ASMR and magical ear tingles? Will they argue about what makes a good joke? Can they agree on the quality of Tim Schafer games? The only way to find out is to listen! 7 out of 10 is a proud member of the Alottagreen Podcast Network. You can find details of all the other shows at www.alottagreen.com.au

Mike, Anton and Emily take a look at the plethora of Indie game announcements at Nintendo's Spring 2019 Nindies presentation.
Im Cast erwähnte Spiele: Sable, Necrobarista, Indivisible, Draugen, Night Call, Lost Ember, Eastshade, The Bradwell Conspiracy, My Friend Pedro, Disco Elysium, Neo Cab.
On this week's episode, a producer on projects like Tunic, Neo Cab, and SUPERHYPERCUBE, as well as someone with marketing, PR, and production experience within a wide variety of teams and games, Felix Kramer, joins host Josiah Renaudin to discuss game production. The duo tackles why indie teams can benefit from being forward-thinking, how good production can prevent crunch, whether or not word-of-mouth is enough when launching a game in 2018, and why it's OK to eat chicken nuggets in the bathtub.
E3 is over, but that won’t stop us. We pick out our favourite games and oddest moments from the LA show. But we’re also introducing two new voices this week: Alice Bell and Noa Smith. Alice is excited for Ashen and enjoyed Andrew WK’s performance at Bethesda’s press event. Noa is looking forward to Beyond Good and Evil 2, but also the smiling veggies of Ooblets. And Brendan tells the story of how Hideo Kojima mildly inconvenienced him while visiting the show. Oh, and of course everyone is intrigued by Cyberpunk 2077.
