“Trust in your inner knowing. Absolutely. And know that your angels do have your back.” – Nicole Olivier photo by Jonathan Condit Screenwriter and Hoffman Process graduate Nicole Olivier has a profound ancestral history. As a daughter of families active in France and Norway’s WWII Resistance, she grew up hearing family stories of moral courage and being of service. Nicole has woven these ancestral stories into her life’s work and art. Nicole is mindful of her ancestral patterns and epigenetics; how trauma was passed down and lives inside of her. During her childhood, she witnessed what was going on and attuned to the power dynamics playing out amid her parents’ divorce. As we all do, she developed patterns to get her through these early years. What’s beautiful about Nicole’s story is how she has worked and studied to understand the origins of those dynamics. The Hoffman Process, understanding somatics, and knowing the lineage of ancestral history supported her in releasing the power of those patterns. Transforming them and realizing they are not who she is supported a deeper capacity to witness and honor her ancestors’ profound courage and strength. Through her dedicated drive to understand how the unconscious is shaped in our early years and foster tools to cultivate compassion, Nicole now brings her wisdom more fully to the current focus of her art, screenwriting. Most recently, Nicole attended the Hoffman Q2 after the loss of her mother. Caring for her mother after a stroke until her peaceful passing was a deep act of service for Nicole. Now an ancestor, her mother is inspiring Nicole’s next screenplay. Her wish is to honor her mother and her mother’s life. Photo credit: Jonathan Condit Content warning: We hope you find this conversation with Nicole and Sadie insightful and inspiring. Please be aware that this episode mentions and includes stories of genocide, World War II, and the devastating events of these times. It describes the experience of a young child participating in France’s WWII Resistance. Please use your discretion. More about Nicole Olivier: Fascinated by human behavior and how the subconscious is shaped in formative years, Nicole Olivier majored in psychology at Mills College, studied at the Sorbonne, spoke about maintaining morale at the Western Psychology Association’s Convention, and participated in Stanford University’s inaugural Compassion Cultivation program. After a brief but award-winning career as an advertising copywriter in Manhattan and San Francisco, inspired by childhood influences from international cinema to sitcoms, Nicole wrote her first feature script in seven days – a spontaneous creative outpouring that launched her screenwriting path. She then reached the second round of the Sundance Screenwriting Competition twice and was selected as one of twelve writers for the Olympic Valley Community of Writers Screenwriters Workshop. Her mentor there was the gracious, Oscar-nominated Tom Rickman, founding Creative Advisor of the Workshop and the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. The daughter of families active in France and Norway’s WWII Resistance, Nicole developed a keen sensitivity to power dynamics and hypervigilance amid shifts sparked by her parents’ divorce. She channeled insights into her screenwriting, weaving in Thomas Hübl‘s epigenetic work, Peter Levine‘s somatics, EMDR, and tapping. Learning meditation in the early ’90s from spiritual mentor Jack Kornfield offered Nicole a model of benevolent leadership. In the film world, this was echoed by dear friend and mentor, Tom Luddy, founder of the Telluride Film Festival. Working alongside Christine Aylward, CEO of the former filmmakers’ forum, MakingOf, co-founded by Natalie Portman, underlined the importance of connecting with positive, values-based people. Caring for her wise, vibrant mother after a stroke in San Francisco until her peaceful passing nearly four years later inspired Nicole’s next screenplay, honoring the life of this heroic, service-oriented dynamo. Nicole welcomes new connections with creative allies and benefactors drawn to champion female filmmakers writing with levity about love, courage, and intergenerational healing. El tipo de "The Brutalist" se marcó una interesante película unos años antes sobre el auge y caída de una estrella del pop interpretada -en su versión adulta- por Natalie Portman cuya vida está marcada por las tragedias del cambio de siglo en Estados Unidos. Temas tochos y buena factura.
Send a textEp 274---, UK Reality Diamon Freddie joins me for the first part of the show to do a deep dive patreons have been begging for — tying together the Epstein files, Russian oligarch murders, and the original Ladies of London cast, just as Bravo announces the reboot premiering March 5th. We start with Annabelle Neilson, the Alexander McQueen muse and ex-wife of Nathaniel Rothschild, who appears in the Lolita Express flight logs and was a direct rival to Ghislaine Maxwell — until a warning email Ghislaine sent about her surfaced in the files. We get into Annabelle's devastating assault in Australia as a teenager by a man who went on to kill other women, and how she, Naomi Campbell, and Ghislaine formed a trio doing something very specific for Epstein involving young models. Then we go deep on Noelle Reno and Scot Young, found impaled on a fence in a "suicide" — but wait until you hear about the Project Moscow scheme, how Putin allegedly stole hundreds of millions from oligarchs, and how EVERY member of Scot's social group ended up dead. A Novichok poison threat Noelle received years later changes everything. Caroline Stanbury dated Prince Andrew right after Fergie — and may have been brought into this circle by Ghislaine herself. Then Freddie walks us through the entire new cast including Lady Emma Thynn with the safari park estate and Meghan Markle drama, Mark-Francis Vandelli from Made in Chelsea, Martha Sitwell dating Charles Saatchi with connections back to the Russian deaths, Missé Beqiri whose brother was shot 10 times on Christmas Eve in a gang hit tied to Albanian drug trafficking, and the American cast members shaking up London society. After Freddie leaves, I dig into actual Epstein emails — Les Wexner's bizarre stream-of-consciousness notes, a judge ordering Wexner to testify in an Ohio abuse case, communications proving Elon Musk's SpaceX visit that he publicly denied, how Epstein's publicist got him access to Natalie Portman and Reese Witherspoon, and Ghislaine arranging for her nephew to meet these actresses. I end with something that will blow your minds — I found what I'm calling the HOLY GRAIL email, a never-published document from a respected journalist close to Epstein that lays out a blueprint of his entire operation with the biggest names involved. I'm saving it for next week — you do NOT want to miss it.Full episode only available at Dishing Drama Dana Patreon,it's only $6.00 a month, join the fun! https://www.patreon.com/cw/DishingDramaWithDanaWilkeySupport the showDana is on Cameo!Follow Dana: @Wilkey_Dana$25,000 Song - Apple Music$25,000 Song - SpotifyTo support the show and listen to full episodes, become a member on PatreonTo send Dana information, show requests and sponsorships reach out to our new email: dishingdramadana@gmail.comDana's YouTube Channel

Philippa Gregory has been called the ‘Queen of Historical Fiction'. The English royal court has inspired many of her best-selling titles, and she's written sixteen novels about the Plantagenets and Tudors. One of them – The Other Boleyn Girl – became a BBC TV drama and a Hollywood movie starring Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman. This success probably surprised her A level teachers: she says she found history ‘insanely boring' at school, but her passion was fired at university. She's also written non-fiction, notably seeking the stories of what she calls ‘normal women' over 900 years. More recently she's returned to the Tudors, with a novel called Boleyn Traitor, focussing on the intrigue surrounding Anne's sister-in-law, Jane. Her music choices include Mozart, Philip Glass, Scott Joplin and the Mazurka from Coppelia by Leo Delibes.Producer: Katy Hickman

This week Sam takes on another adventure quest with the 2025 movie Fountain of Youth. Join Luke (John Krasinski) as he gallivants around town stealing art with zero repercussions. After his latest art theft, he goes to London to ruin his sister Charlotte's (Natalie Portman) life by stealing from the museum she curates and getting her fired. You'd think John Krasinski could pull off making that charming, but you'd be wrong. None of that matters because now that she's been fired, Charlotte can join in on his latest scheme! What scheme is that? Why, it's leading a billionaire-backed expedition to locate the the Fountain of Youth (which neither fountains nor youths, but that's for another time) to cure the benefactor's liver cancer. Why you ask? Fame and glory. Definitely not to follow in their father's Indiana Jones footsteps regardless of what the movie tells you. This, of course, requires stealing a bunch of Renaissance art because six artists hid clues in their paintings for some unfathomable reason, though not really in their paintings, more just kinda on them. This leads our heroes to some of the lamest puzzle solving this side of The DaVinci Code which Sam complains about. A lot. This has made them a target for Interpol and Charlotte has dragged her eleven-year-old son on the lamb with her in a bid to become the world's worst mother. There's also some psychic protector of the Fountain hot on their trail, though she proves remarkably inept. None of this can prepare our hosts for the end of this movie which is so incomprehensible it completely breaks their brains. This is in no way aided by a brief exposition cameo by Stanley Tucci, and in fact only muddies things further. So join us on a rip-roaring adventure that leaves Sam begging Danielle to watch the movie herself to see if she can figure it out. We're sure it makes sense to someone, just not us.
In this rendition of Cooped-Up Conversations we discuss; Natalie Portman supremacy over her non-genetic twin, our fear of leg injuries, white women, failing US manufacturing cities and much, much more. So sit back, crack some cold ones and join this week's Cooped-Up Conversation.

We continue our Luc Besson retrospective with Léon: The Professional (1994), a film that turned a hitman into a pop-culture archetype and remains one of the most debated thrillers of the 1990s. Host John Mills is joined by Darren Moser to dig into Besson's precise visual control, Éric Serra's melancholic score, Thierry Arbogast's stylized cinematography, and the film's complicated emotional core.
Matt and Eric slide down the rainbow bridge and dive into THOR, the story of an a-hole alien hunk who becomes a better dude after meeting Natalie Portman while his scheming emo brother tries to trauma dump. It's a hoot!
Welcome to The Reel Schmooze with ToI film reviewer Jordan Hoffman and host Amanda Borschel-Dan, where we bring you all the entertainment news and film reviews a Jew can use. This week, the pair speaks about two new movies, the feature film, "Jay Kelly," and the short documentary "Carol & Joy." But first, we hear in this week’s “Jangle” segment, an update on a story from last week regarding one of the Holocaust survivors featured in the film, "Eleanor the Great," Sami Steigmann, who was asked not to speak at a Brooklyn middle school about antisemitism due to his pro-Israel views. Our second Jangle involves the impending sale of Warner Bros Studio. Hoffman has some passionate thoughts. We then speak about "Jay Kelly," a 2025 comedy-drama directed by Noah Baumbach and written by Baumbach and Emily Mortimer. For Borschel-Dan, it was a screening in two sleepy parts that ended with a "meh" rating. Hoffman was (slightly) kinder. Both were united in their appreciation for the documentary, "Carol & Joy," directed by Nathan Silver and starring actress Carol Kane and her 98-year-old mother, Joy Kane. It is a delight of a film and... executive produced by a The Reel Schmooze regular, Natalie Portman. Hear which film got a seal of approval on this week's The Reel Schmooze. We'd love to have your feedback and ideas for future episodes of Retail Unwrapped. Just text us!Traditional fashion and automotive industries are wedded to a leather supply chain that requires 20 toxic processing steps and plastic coatings, while they simultaneously claim environmental leadership. The uncomfortable reality executives don't acknowledge is that traditional leather production isn't just environmentally destructive—it's becoming economically obsolete. Join Shelley and Stephanie Downs, a biomaterials pioneer and CEO of Uncaged, as they have an honest conversation about how fashion executives who use natural leather are caught between mounting environmental pressure to change and legacy suppliers who resist touching alternative materials. Brands are being forced to choose between tradition and transformation. Meanwhile, major automotive brands including Jaguar and Land Rover are already piloting leather alternatives, responding to reputational risk from environmentally conscious consumers. To strengthen public awareness of leather alternatives, Uncaged just announced a new partnership with Oscar winning actress Natalie Portman who is a longtime vegan activist.Special Guest: Stephanie Downs, CEO, Uncaged InnovationsFor more strategic insights and compelling content, visit TheRobinReport.com, where you can read, watch, and listen to content from Robin Lewis and other retail industry experts, and be sure to follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter.

“I just want to be perfect.” Join Ian & Megs for our 308th episode as we step into the mirror-lined, razor-edged, emotionally fraught world of Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan (2010). Lace up your shoes, crack your knuckles, and prepare to descend into obsession, duality, and tutu-level trauma. This week we discuss: Natalie Portman's extraordinary, Oscar-winning transformation — fragile ingénue, ruthless perfectionist, and fractured psyche in one. Mila Kunis as the effortless chaos to Nina's claustrophobic control — real threat or manifested paranoia? Aronofsky's visual language: reflections, doubles, textures, and body horror. How does he trap the audience inside Nina's deteriorating mind? The film's depiction of artistic pressure and perfectionism — when does ambition turn pathological? What other film could we not stop referencing whilst watching this film Megs questions the ballet accuracy (and the wildly inaccurate bits) — including the culture, the training, and the psychological toll Ian asks if the film does a good enough job educating the audience about ballet to make the film accessible We talk about how Black Swan functions as a companion piece to The Wrestler — obsession as both craft and self-destruction. The boundaries between reality and hallucination — when does the film stop being literal? Or was it metaphor all along? We examine the film's treatment of sexuality, identity, and agency through the lens of duality: White Swan vs. Black Swan, innocence vs. corruption, submission vs. liberation. The final performance — triumphant, tragic, transcendent? We unpack the film's unforgettable ending. And finally, whether Black Swan is the Best Film Ever — or simply one of the most hypnotic psychological thrillers of the 21st century. In honor of its upcoming 30th Anniversary next month, here is our newly remastered (with additional content) review of one of The Greatest Films Ever!“Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner….” – Neil McCauley, 1995And that's the apparent thesis for one of the most beloved films of the past thirty years spoken by living legend Robert DeNiro sitting across from fellow living legend Al Pacino. Or is it really the main theme of the movie? Maybe it's just something cool-sounding that a tough guy says but doesn't really follow through on….director Michael Mann examines that very question among so many others during this almost three hour crime epic focusing on the brewing conflict between two self-obsessed master tacticians on both sides of the law…and the women who love them….along with every one else whose lives they impact. This STACKED cast also includes Val Kilmer, Diana Venora, Amy Brenneman, Tom Sizemore, Jon Voight, Wes Studi, Dennis Haysbert, Mykelti Williamson, Danny Trejo, and Ted Levine among SO many others. This week, we continue our Mike Nichols miniseries with a deep dive into Closer (2004), joined by Sean Fennessey of The Big Picture. It's a film that captivated many of us in our early 20s only to unravel under rewatch with age, perspective, and healthier emotional boundaries. We unpack why Closer once felt like “grown-up cinema,” how its theatrical origins shape its structure, and why its four leads Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen are all performing at maximum intensity inside a script that might not deserve them. From the infamous strip-club scene to the messy power dynamics, contradictions, and emotional violence embedded in Patrick Marber's writing, we ask the question: does any of this actually work?Sean brings insight into Nichols' career, the film's mid-2000s cultural footprint (including its unexpected influence on emo/screamo lyrics), and the era's attempt to manufacture Jude Law into Hollywood's next megastar. And yes, we talk about Damien Rice, the Oscars, and why Closer remains a fascinating artistic contradiction: a film full of great performances inside a story that collapses under scrutiny. The Roald Dahl Retrospective is back after an almost two year hiatus. In this episode, Arun, Patricia, and special guest Eli a.k.a. The Hero of Tomorrow discuss about the 2025 Netflix animated film The Twits based on the 1980 film of the same name starring Margo Martindale, Johnny Vegas, Emilia Clarke, Natalie Portman, and Alan Tudyk,. Mr. and Mrs. Twit are an evil, gross couple who play pranks on one another. They open a theme park called Twitlandia to attract people into giving them money only for it to shut down immediately. They also drive a truck filled with hot dog filling and shove it into the town's silo to make a huge mess everywhere. A young orphan girl named Beesha and her best friend Bubsy learn about Twitlandia and want to go there, but then learned it's ran by the same people who covered the town with hot dog filling. They get them arrested and find out they have been locking up and abusing a family of monkeys called Mugglewumps into using their tears to run Twitlandia. They set them free, but then things turn for the worse when Mr. and Mrs. Twit are out of jail and are running for mayor when they promise to make the town great again by reopening Twitlandia to generate money and convince the townspeople that Beesha is bad for stealing the Mugglewumps, the only source of power to make Twitlandia run successfully. When the film premiered on Netflix, it received mixed to negative reviews from critics and fans criticizing its gross humor, its strange art style, its forgettable musical numbers, its social and political commentary, and not fitting into the spirit of the book. What did Arun, Patricia, and Eli think of this film?

This week on the Major Issues Podcast, the hosts don their Guy Fawkes masks and look back at V for Vendetta, 20 years after its premiere. What began as a cautionary tale about authoritarian control, surveillance, and manufactured fear feels eerily prophetic two decades later. The crew revisits the Wachowskis-produced classic, exploring how its themes of rebellion, censorship, and identity hit harder in today's world than ever before. From Hugo Weaving's chillingly poetic performance to Natalie Portman's transformation as Evey Hammond, we reflect on how the film's dystopian vision has crept frighteningly close to reality—and why V for Vendetta remains a timeless rallying cry for freedom and truth. The penultimate horror film in Have You Ever Seen's 10th Annual Scary Movie Month was a blockbuster and an Oscar-winner. And that's unusual for the relentless and unsubtle director Darren Aronofsky. He isn't often rewarded so much for the chances he takes. This 693rd episode talks about how the intense Black Swan is women-centric, even as the women in it go through hell. Natalie Portman won Best Actress for playing a lonely ballet dancer who was deluded even before the movie started. Then after she gets the lead role in Swan Lake, she shows us levels of masochism, obsession and deep mental illness. Real versus imagined. Mila Kunis, Barbara Hershey and Vincent Cassell hit some home runs too, with Hersey eating it up as Portman's possessive and abusive mother. So put on your feathers and get ready for an episode all about the sordid and dangerous world of ballet. Well, Actually: Mother! wasn't a complete failure at the box office and Noah didn't do THAT badly worldwide. Be a sweet girl (or a sweet boy) and write a review of this or any other HYES episode.
