The cause of the fire remains undetermined. The Red Cross provided assistance, and apartment management is aiding residents with housing needs. Some residents, like Jennifer Hallmark, were unable to rescue their pets during the fire. Hallmark, who had several cats, was evacuated but desperately wanted to retrieve them. Property management was not available on Sunday morning, leaving residents anxious about their belongings and pets. STORY 2: Clark Atlanta Professor and Author: “When You Get An Opportunity, Run With It.” Dr. Daniel Black, a professor and author from Clark Atlanta University, was the featured speaker at Smyrna's second annual Black History Month event. The event, sold out both years, featured readings from some of Black's works, including "The Coming" and "Black on Black." Black encouraged attendees to seize opportunities and praised Smyrna for its inclusivity. Attendees praised Black's powerful and eloquent words, describing them as a "call to action." Many, like Jason Woods, were excited to see Black speak and appreciated the city's efforts to host diverse programs. Overall, Black's presentation left a lasting impression on the Smyrna community. STORY 3: Marietta Becomes The Cat's Meow For Feline Show The IAM Local 709 in Marietta hosted a cat show organized by the Atlanta Phoenix Cat Society and the Cat Fancier's Association, featuring hundreds of cats judged on appearance and agility. Owners proudly showcased their cats, like Jasper, a Maine Coon aiming for a national win, and Sterling, a sweet silver tabby exotic who won an award for resembling a taco in a costume contest. Attendees also shopped for pet products, including cat furniture designed for exercise and comfort. He emphasized the importance of compassion and Christian values in his judicial work, aiming to uphold truth and justice in every decision. Attendees praised the court's efforts to support the community and appreciated Brewton's dedication to his faith-driven approach to justice. STORY 5: Bingo Builds Community at Acworth Senior Living Center The Dogwood Forest assisted living facility in Acworth hosts tri-weekly Bingo games, which are eagerly anticipated and attended by its senior residents. The competitive atmosphere begins early, with players vying for tables hours before the game. Once underway, the event is lively, with participants enthusiastically calling out "Bingo" as numbers are announced on a big screen accompanied by music. Beyond the game itself, Bingo serves as a means for residents to foster a sense of community, temporarily escaping any worries and simply relishing in the joy of play.   We'll be back in a moment    Break: DRAKE – TEDS     STORY 6: Freezing for a Good Cause: Polar Plunge In Acworth Benefits Special Olympics The Polar Plunge event in Acworth brought together local residents, law enforcement officers, and dignitaries to support Special Olympics. Despite chilly temperatures, participants rushed into Lake Acworth to raise funds for the cause. Organized through the Law Enforcement Torch Run, the event aims to shift perceptions of law enforcement and foster community partnerships. Funds raised contribute to Special Olympics programs, with a goal of $2 million in 2024. Law enforcement agencies, including the Cobb County Sheriff's Office and Austell Police Department, participated in themed costumes, adding to the festive atmosphere. The event featured not only the Polar Plunge but also activities like tug-of-war, showcasing camaraderie among participants from across the state. STORY 7: From Neo-Nazi to Faithful Jew Frank Meeink, a former neo-Nazi with a criminal past, shared his journey of redemption and transformation at Chabad of Cobb synagogue. Recruited into the movement as a young man, Meeink spent years promoting neo-Nazi ideology before serving time in prison. His perspective shifted during incarceration, where he formed friendships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Witnessing the Oklahoma City Bombing prompted his departure from the movement. Meeink eventually embraced his Jewish heritage and now advocates for police reform. Old friends and a new friend on this week's episode that is full of great stories and helpful information from three incredibly impressive gentlemen.  Our featured partners this week are The Jason Woods Home Loan Team with Community Mortgage and Memphis Title Company. David Da Ponte-Cooper has been a realtor associate with Sowell Realtors for 21 years now and is one of the very top producing agents in the entire city. Until I started doing my research for this interview, I had no idea how successful he really is because he's not very flashy with his marketing or incredibly visible for the world to see, but he puts in the work and is steadily referred by clients at an alarming rate.  Jason Woods with Community Mortgage and Mark Miesse with Memphis Title rejoined the show in our second segment to discuss what to do when a deal falls apart. It's never a fun situation to find yourself in but every agent with any significant tenure in the business has had it happen and Jason and Mark broke down some reasons why it happens, how to spot it coming in advance, and how to handle the situation when it the deal falls apart.  As always our show is powered by The Jason Woods Home Loan Team and Sophie Sandlin Raines who are two awesome loan officers with Community Mortgage.  To connect with David, you can call his cell directly at 901-240-8474 or catch him at the Sowell office at 901-287-4380. To connect with Jason you can call his cell at 901-246-0256 or email him at jason@communitymtg.com . To connect with Mark or any of the talented attorneys at Memphis Title Company you can call their office at 901-754-2080 or visit their website at www.memphistitleco.com .  If you need to connect with the show or reach Dane for any of your home insurance needs, you can email him at dwilliams@shoemakerins.com @danewilliams1

Sol Behar, MD, and Jason Woods, MD discuss the evaluation and management of bilious emesis in a neonate.  Bilious emesis in an infant should be treated as an emergency because this is often a symptom of obstruction due to intestinal atresia or midgut volvulus. Causes of intestinal obstruction that present during the neonatal period include: Malrotation with or without volvulus Intestinal atresia Hirschsprung disease Intussusception (rare in the neonatal period) Necrotizing enterocolitis  Malrotation with volvulus. In this condition, the cecum is abnormally positioned in the right upper quadrant and this abnormal positioning predisposes the intestine to twist on its mesentery resulting in volvulus. This causes acute small bowel obstruction and ischemia.  An upper GI, the gold standard for diagnosing or evaluating malrotation, classically shows a duodenum with a "corkscrew" appearance. Intestinal atresia. This is a term used to describe a complete blockage or obstruction anywhere in the intestine. Approximately 30% of infants with duodenal atresia have a chromosomal anomaly, most typically Down syndrome. The "double bubble" sign is caused by dilation of the stomach and proximal duodenum and strongly suggests duodenal atresia Hirschsprung disease. This is a disorder of the motor innervation of the distal intestine that leads to a functional obstruction. In Hirschsprung, the nerves that allow the relaxation of the smooth muscle within the intestine wall are missing, so the area that is affected is constricted.   A contrast enema can support the diagnosis of Hirschsprung disease. It will often show the presence of a “transition zone” which represents the change from the normal caliber rectum to the dilated colon proximal to the aganglionic region.   For younger kids who have not had time to develop the “transition zone”, the rectosigmoid index, the ratio between the diameter of the rectum and the sigmoid colon, is typically >1 in normal children   Necrotizing enterocolitis. This is a condition characterized by bowel necrosis with associated severe inflammation, bacterial invasion, and dissection of gas into the bowel wall. Pneumatosis intestinalis, a hallmark of NEC, appears as bubbles of gas in the bowel wall. Meconium ileus is caused by the obstruction of the small intestines with inspissated meconium. Approximately 10% of patients with CF present with meconium ileus.

If you’ve ever watched a patient, friend, or family member have a seizure, you know how scary and stressful it can be for everyone involved. It’s even more stressful when you can’t get the seizure to stop - this is called status epilepticus. Usually, benzodiazepines are our first line medication. If benzos don’t work, we all have our favorite second, and even third line agents to try to break seizures. But how well do they really work? Is one better than another? Or safer?  This episode starts with a personal story told by parents of a child who suffers from epilepsy. Then we welcome guest host, Dr. Jason Woods of the Little Big Med podcast, to help us answer these questions. Dr. Jim Chamberlain is the pediatric principal investigator for the ESETT trial, in which he and his colleagues studied three common second line anti epileptic medications. He shares some of the novel statistical methods they used and the results that were recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Then we speak with our own Dr. Daniel Nishijima, general EM physician and site Co-PI for the trial, about the implications for adults and how the results have (or have not?) changed his practice.   What are your favorite first and second line medications for status epilepticus? Welcome to another episode of the RON KING SHOW with long-time gospel singer and recording artist MR.JASON WOODS from Greene County, PA. You'll enjoy the fun and fast paced conversation as Jason talks about the joys, work, travel and yes, the disappointments too, of being a traveling Southern Gospel singer and preacher. Jason holds no punches as he discusses, in a very humorous fashion, the practicalities of holding down a day job, as so many gospel singers do, then getting on the road on the weekend and driving three or more hours to get the opportunity to sing in a church in another state for just 30 minutes or sometimes less. Jason also talks about, in a very humorous manner, being a preacher's kid and the challenges and responsibilities that came with that role as he was growing up as a teenager and just wanted to play basketball while his dad had very different ideas about how Jason should be spending his time. Also,on this episode you'll get to hear Jason's fine voice as he sings a great Southern Gospel song he wrote. So, give this podcast a listen. I think you're really going to like it! R. K.

Erin is part of a brave new digital audio live performance armada of female artists riding a tech savvy wave of musical and electronic innovation. Her incomparable style has been praised by Grammy award-winning legends. Her musical skill and versatility is virtually second to none. Hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, Erin was reared on her parents’ dusty record collection of AM radio singer/ songwriters James Taylor and Simon & Garfunkel. Erin’s spectacular talent caught the golden ear of John Oates, half of soul/ pop duo Hall & Oates. Erin was paired up with the legendary musician after winning a fiercely competitive songwriting competition. With the advice of Oates in tow, Erin made her move to New York City with the goal of developing her craft as an artist and live performer. H.I.S.D There’s a renaissance occurring before your eyes and this crew is right in the middle of it. This group of forward thinking music junkies have come together and formed H.I.S.D. H.I.S.D. was born in 2005 through the collaboration of eight artists of varying mediums wanting to introduce a refreshing perspective to the sound and visual aesthetic of hip hop culture, classic soul music, poetry, visual art, fashion, and photography. Mutual respect and appreciation for the cultural significance and influence achieved by creatively bridging these art forms, brought Savvi, Equality, LdaVoice, Scottie Spitten, Jason Woods, and producers King Midas and E-Classic together to form H.I.S.D.
