Thank you so much for joining. What an honor it is that you chose to share time with me. This podcast series uses the art of story telling to share one of the most amazing adventures in life, what I refer to as “A Modern-Day Vision Quest.” The adventure was my journey of Personal Growth, Self-Discovery, and Enlightenment. To sum it up briefly, I had healed most of the wounds and impact from a traumatic childhood which I talk about in my book, Discovering Michael: An Inspiration Guide to Personal Growth & Self-Discovery. Following this phase of growth (which I term Personal Growth), what surfaced were nagging thoughts deep within to related to understanding who I truly am (Self-Discovery), and what life was all about and how I fit in (Enlightenment). Inspired by the movie, "Dances With Wolves", and The Call" by Jennifer James, I left a full-time job to backpack and volunteer around the world. I came face-to-face with situations that challenged my prior beliefs and ultimately resulted in learning about life itself and Discovering Michael. This talk is a collection of true stories about my adventures and learnings to hopefully engage you in a thought-provoking manner, while guiding and inspiring you for your own journey of self-discovery!! Part 4 continues with real-life stories about the segue I made from the Personal Growth stage to the Self-Discovery stage. In Part 3, I talked about the synchronistic events and people that came into my life that were preparing me for my Modern Day Vision Quest. As I reflected on the recent events and encounters, it became clear that it was time for another leap of faith, this time to venture out into the unknown, the world around me. I had two key intentions phrased as questions: 1) Why Did I Experience So Much Pain & Suffering?, and 2) What is The Meaning of Life? Low and behold, my friend called me and asked if I wanted to join him and his brother on a trip to Europe. At the same time I was returning to home and volunteering in some profound ways, all having to deal with death, although I had no idea of this commonality at first. Off I went on my first leg of my quest. Here are stories to help guide and inspire you to take your own journey within!! This Episode Image portrays the wonder I had as a child to escape the bondages of my past and eagerness to discover what is out there!! Part 3 continues with real-life stories about the segue I made from the Personal Growth stage to the Self-Discovery stage. There was a change within me following all the work I did in the Personal Growth stage, that was longing for a deeper understanding of self. It was characterized by questions such as "Who Am I?", "What Do I Stand For?" and "What Do I Want to Be When I Grow Up?" Before I was aware of the questions was a nagging feeling to learn more about myself and life. I share my story about the events and people that came into my life to clarify what this feeling was all about, and ultimately the amazing adventure I was about to embark on.

A dance company in the UK is challenging the perceptions that dance is the domain of young people. The Company of Elders is performance group for non-professional dancers aged over 60, that set up by renown dance organisation Sadler's Wells in 1989.Back then it was an arts club for older adults, with workshops held with visiting companies and the odd performance. But as interest grew, it became a performance group in its own right in 1992. Company members will take to the stage next month in a new work called The Exchange, where they'll join in a hip-hop influenced performance alongside members of ZooNation - a company of dancers from the other end of the age spectrum. Kathryn speaks with Elaine Foley, projects manager learning and engagement at Sadler's Wells and Jennifer James, one of the company's members.

Sisters Jennifer and Jill come from a long line of women with mystical abilities. Their grandmother was a Catholic immigrant who, while practicing mediumship and earth magick, always maintained an intense devotion to God, Jesus, the Blessed Mother, and the saints of the Catholic Church. Their mother, an astrologer, modeled an acceptance of all things mystical, and as a result, their childhood was shaped by psychics, spiritual healers, and magick of various types. Today, Jennifer is a Tarot reader and intuitive, and Jill is a psychic medium, energy reader, and intuitive life coach. They are the hosts of the Common Mystics podcast. In both their podcast and their new book, "Ghosts on the Road, Murder and Mysterious Deaths," they hit the road in search of stories that give voice to the voiceless – inviting spirits to tell their own stories to those willing to listen. Excited to be back on the air again! This show was awesome with Steven James and Jennifer James! Steven has something new to share that we believe will finally move Bigfoot research forward. Steven James has studied unexplained cryptid reports since 1997. His interest in the field originates from his own involvement in an encounter outside Lewiston, California in 1996. In the past, he actively researched the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and was part of the team that first identified and studied the Skookum Meadow region. More recently, Mr. James has relocated to Texas, where he has been examining claims and evidence since 2015, with a critical eye towards documentation and scientific based reasoning and methodology. In 2016 he started the Lonestar Apes Project, which ran until 2019. He presented at Footstock 2019 on audio analysis and collection methodology. In 2022 he spoke at the Mid American Symposium on the relation of sightings and watersheds in central and west Texas, and in 2023 he and Logan Craft presented 2 years of findings and announced they were expanding their research into the application of ecoacoustics. In 2019, Steven, his wife Jennifer, and Logan Craft founded The Cryptid Connection, a limited series podcast that focused on a diverse collection researchers and enthusiasts. He spends several days in the field on a monthly basis, year round. Currently, he is applying the emerging science of ecoacoustics to further scientific data that will lead to better understanding of a region's biodiversity and species population. Mr. James is a successful Technology Consultant for Texas government and law enforcement since 2004. He is married to his wife and Co-Host, Jennifer James.

It's Jen's turn in the hot seat! This special episode of Common Mystics is all about Jennifer James! Whereas Jill has been communicating with spirits for as long as she can remember, Jen's journey has been very different. As the oldest daughter of a single mother of four, Jen was practical and responsible at a young age. She chose to ignore the spiritual side of herself until well into adulthood. If you've ever ignored your own mystical abilities, you just might have something in common with this mystic sister. Check out the extended version of this episode that will be released on 2/16/23 as part of the Detours series on Patreon for tier 2 and above. With Thanksgiving this week in the US and the holiday season around the corner, let's get our hearts, minds, and spirits ready and be intentional in our homemaking. To discuss this topic, I invited Ruth McKeaney to share her experience. Ruth is the author of "Hungry for Home." As a constant host, she goes to the heart of what makes one feel at home. Every day, her goal is to make her home a safe place, so her family and her guests have the opportunity to have their deeper needs met. Intentional homemaking, in its most idealized form, creates a setting where vulnerability and honesty are valued and protected, understanding and grace are fostered, and love is freely given. It's time to recover the richness of community lost in the today's hustle and bustle. We can still slow down. We can still prioritize our family and friends over our "to-do" lists. We can still find beauty in the midst of chaos. We can still sit around the table with bowls of pasta and laugh until two in the morning. We can still go home.~ Ruth McKeaneyThis episode also discusses the significant phase of the identity crisis she experienced and how she overcame it. She also shares her journey to finding her purpose when lovingly challenged by her uncle to seek God for. Ruth McKeaney is a former Attorney General for the state of Virginia and Assistant Commonwealth #39's Attorney. Ruth and her husband, Bob, are raising their five children on their restored historic farm in Berwyn, PA. Hillside Farm was featured in the books Stone Houses and Theology of Home and exhibited in multiple home tours and a few magazines.Listen to the podcast for our conversation. October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month which includes miscarriage, infertility, failed cycle, infant loss, ectopic, stillbirth, child loss, SIDS, neonatal loss, TFMR, chemical pregnancy, and embryo loss. To every person who has experienced any of these difficult experiences, I see you, I feel your pain, and I am holding space for you. In this week's podcast, we will discuss the journey of infertility. Infertility, in simple words, is the inability to reproduce. It affects both men and women. It can be challenging for people to sail through the physical and mental pressure of infertility and its treatments. Michelle Mercurio joins me today with her journey through infertility and the struggles she faced. According to her, letting go of all the guilts and living with self-love is a great medicine to make healing happen. Self-love can do wonders in thought processing and boosting confidence. She says focusing on a 'to-be list' instead of a to-do list should be the priority. There will be many ups and downs, and many identities will be crashed, but one should not need external things to like themselves. Questioning your beliefs and why you believe them makes corrections and clears the thought process. Listen to the podcast to learn how Michelle overcame depression and how she coped through all her heavy days. Gary Thomas has joined me this week on the podcast to provide insight regarding toxic relationships (familial, intimate, professional, friendships). In this week's conversation, Gary is able to help us recognize people that are toxic and ways in which we can move on from these painful relationships. Toxic individuals not only affect the relationship, but they bring us down and add to our daily stressors. It's important to understand that toxic people slowly chip away at your well-being. As a mother, I enjoyed the conversation with Gary because it brought up the importance of healing and putting ourselves first. This conversation is inspired from Garry's book: When to Walk Away. According to Gary, not every difficult person is toxic. Those that are toxic people want to control you, haunt you, and enjoy conflict. He speaks about how to incorporate faith, restraint, self-soothing methods, and forgiveness in our journey to walk away from toxic relationships. Join in and plunge into the episode to explore more about it. He has worked to foster personal growth by means of scripture and community outreach. His incorporation of the Christian faith and public speaking have allowed him to identify how to end the chain of toxic relationships and how to find our way to a journey full of healing and self-love. Kari Trent-Stageberg has joined me this week to provide knowledge regarding the path to healing and understanding domestic violence as a first-hand survivor herself. Domestic violence is one of the most threatening issues which can curtail one's mental and psychological growth. Individuals may face verbal, emotional, or physical abuse that may leave you questioning everything you've ever said or done in a relationship. Experiencing this abuse has been shown to leave lasting effects that are even more profound than physical damage itself. Due to the toll that is left by domestic violence, it is important to understand the narrative through first-hand experiences which is why Kari has joined the podcast today.According to Kari, the first and foremost thing to escape from domestic violence is to recognize such a toxic relationship and tackle it in the most appropriate manner, followed by setting a safety plan and boundaries. It will not be a cakewalk unless one gets proper guidance and knowledge regarding this evil. Listening to the words of a survivor will help others to be fit enough to fight brilliantly against the abuse. So don't hesitate to plunge into the episode to explore more about it. Additionally, for anyone that may be experiencing domestic violence and needs further resources or guidance please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233.Listen in to learn more about: {03:40} The Journey of Kari as A Survivor{05:00} Abuse Defined{07:00} Book Suggestions on Abusive Relationships{11:20} Along with Faith{14:00} Strategies and Pieces Of Advice To Apply{16:30} National Domestic Violence Helpline Number{27:25} Three Pieces of AdviceFavorite Quotes:“You are not created to do life alone.” “An abundance of counselors is wisdom.”“It's always one step forward, three steps back…God is so kind, he is so faithful, and he is not going to leave you where you are.”About Kari: Kari is a wife and mother. She has experienced an IVF journey which blessed her with a little boy. Growing up she was part of a faith-filled home with no paradigm for what abuse looked like. Through her journey she has walked away from faith, eloped, grown closer to God, and found her way to the beautiful family she now has. As home to several major food corporations, nearly every food in the grocery aisle ties back to Arkansas in some way, shape, or form. One common denominator: rice. As both a staple food and a key ingredient in a multitude of processed foods, the state's cash crop is grown not on major industrial farming operations, but on 2,300 individually-owned family farms that have been passed down from generation to generation. However, as clean as a bowl of rice may sound, it packs a dirty little secret: methane emissions. In order to assess just how green rice farming truly is, Jay speaks with fourth-generation rice farmer Jennifer James, who discusses the farming technologies helping her to conserve water and soil in hopes of preserving the land for her son. To get a better sense as to whether Jennifer's green efforts are representative of the industry as a whole, Jay chats with Riceland's VP of Sales, Mark Holt, about how the farmer-owned co-op works to process, sell, and distribute the farmers' yields, all while disseminating environmentally-friendly practices that trickle down from food manufacturers. One of rice's biggest purchasers happens to be Anheuser-Busch, so Jay calls upon Agronomy Manager Bill Jones to explain how a brewery is helping green initiatives get to scale via model farms and strategic sourcing programs. Looking forward, Jay learns from Dr. Alton B. Johnson, director of the Rice and Research Extension Center at the University of Arkansas, about the methods going into developing new strains of rice that will require less water and, in turn, emit less methane. He's also shocked to hear about the innovative ways in which Riceland is putting its rice waste to use in hopes of offsetting some of the crop's less desirable greenhouse effects. Finally, Jay speaks to Jennifer's son Dylan about how college is helping Arkansas' future farmers be on the cutting edge of rice innovation.
