Reap: The Bible Belt Series by Tiffani Quarles Sanders ALABAMA 1931: Annie Lawson thanked the Lord every day for the life she and her husband, Sam, had made for themselves as sharecroppers on the Moore plantation. They were even more blessed to raise their granddaughter Liz, a bright, observant, book-loving girl who longed to continue her education past the primary grades. However, when Mary Moore decides she wants Liz to drop out of school and become her private maid, Annie calls on her friends, the Miller siblings, to save Liz without risking eviction for her family. As they work out a plan to free Liz from Mary Moore's clutches and secret her off the plantation, the Millers reach deep into the pain of their past, harkening back to the 1870s and confronting the moment when Bill Moore altered their lives forever. As an influential and powerful white man in the Deep South, Bill was never charged with his crimes, leaving the Millers devastated and forever caught in the shadow of his vile act. Discover how decades of simmering evil come to a boil in Reap, Tiffani Quarles-Sanders' latest book. For Bill Moore, the lesson is clear: A man will reap what he has sown. About Tiffani Quarles Sanders A native of Montgomery, Alabama, Tiffani Quarles-Sanders is an author of historical and modern African-American fiction, and the owner of Hollow Bridge Publishing. Born with cerebral palsy, she relies on a motorized wheelchair, walker, and communication device. However, her family has a positive outlook, teaching her to see herself as a kid who could play, laugh, and learn just like anyone else. With the support of her mother, she pursued regular education, athletics, and activities like Girl Scouting. As a recipient of the Gold Award, she created the Yes, You Can Movement, motivating people of all ages and abilities to overcome obstacles and reach their goals. Tune in to hear her powerful journey and how she uses her life experiences to inspire others. More from Margaret: I am a Lifetime Girl Scout and have been in Scouting since Daisies. I have served as a National Delegate for Girl Scouts of Connecticut for two consecutive terms (2014-2017, 2017-2020). I earned my Gold Award in 2015 and was awarded Girl Scouts of Connecticut's Courage, Confidence, and Character Award in 2021. A 2022 graduate of Fairfield University's Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program and a 2020 magna cum laude graduate of Fairfield University with a bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing and minor in psychology, I currently work as a book editor and marketing coordinator for Woodhall Press and an ambassador for PRC-Saltillo. My debut disability memoir Bold, Brave, and Breathless: Reveling in Childhood's Splendiferous Glories While Facing Disability and Loss was released in October and became an Amazon Bestseller on publication day, remaining on the bestseller list for several weeks. I am now working on the sequel. https://www.instagram.com/margaretannemarymoore_author/ https://margaretannemarymoore.com/ Bold, Brave, and Breathless: Reveling in Childhood's Splendiferous Glories While Facing Disability and Loss Key takeaways from the episode: Despite being born with cerebral palsy and facing physical limitations, Margaret's family instills in her a positive outlook on her disability. They taught her that she could play, laugh, and learn just like her able-bodied peers, which shaped her mindset and allowed her to overcome obstacles. Margaret has a strong support system, including her family, friends, mentors, and organizations like Girl Scouts. These individuals and groups provide guidance, encouragement, and opportunities for her to pursue her ambitions and make a difference in the world. Margaret has faced stereotypes and challenges throughout her life, including being told that kids with disabilities don't earn the Girl Scouts Gold Award. However, she persists and finds ways to overcome these obstacles, proving that anything is possible with determination and belief in oneself. Her experiences in running and completing races also highlight her ability to push through fatigue and achieve her goals. Share this show with your friends on Twitter. A @Christadelphians Video: “This is not a true story. But the issues it discusses are very real. Marc and Mary Moore are two Roman Catholics who take their convictions seriously. So seriously that when their beliefs are challenged by two friends they accept the opportunity to examine the basis for their own beliefs. This begins a careful search for truth… It is our sincere desire that all readers of this book will identify with the spirit in which Marc and Mary accepted this challenge.” – How Sure Are the Foundations written by Colin Badger This audiobook is read by Chris Sales. Part 2 of 2. After moving back to her hometown of Paris, Texas at age 80, Mary Searight quickly became a beloved resident. Mary shot straight, had seemingly endless tales to tell, and always took care of the places she lived through philanthropic gestures. But 8 years after coming back home, when she was 87 years old, someone brutally raped and beat Mary Searight to death in her home. The investigation, though diligently worked, was getting nowhere. When elderly couple Bessie and Grady Alexander were slain just two weeks after Mary's murder, the Paris Police theorized a possible connection. But when evidence revealed the killer of the Alexander's through DNA, testing on Mary Searight's case stalled. If you have any information about the 1996 murder of Mary Moore Searight, please call the Paris, Texas Police Department at (903)784-6688Please donate to help get #JusticeForLeonLaureles at gofundme.com/f/leon-laureles-private-detective-and-memorial/Find gone cold – texas true crime on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by using @gonecoldpodcast and on YouTube at: youtube.com/c/gonecoldpodcastCommunityImpact.com, The Paris News, The Austin American-Statesman, The Houston Post, The Fort Worth Record, LamarCounty.org, MooreFirm.com, Moore & Searight Family Records, and Court Appeal Documents were used as sources for this episode#JusticeForMaryMooreSearight #Paris #ParisTX #Austin #AustinTX #Texas #TX #Texas #TexasTrueCrime #GoneCold #GoneColdPodcast #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #ColdCase #Murder #UnsolvedMurder #Unsolved
Mary Searight came from a family of great means and influence in Texas law and state government. Her husband, too, came from a prominent Austin, Texas cattle ranching family. After he died, Mary spent 30 more years on their Austin ranch before realizing she could no longer handle the responsibility of raising cattle and keeping up with the land. Though moving back to her hometown of Paris, Texas seemed ideal, Mary Searight's choice to do so turned deadly.Part 1 of 2 If you have any information about the 1996 murder of Mary Moore Searight, please call the Paris, Texas Police Department at (903)784-6688 Please donate to help get #JusticeForLeonLaureles at gofundme.com/f/leon-laureles-private-detective-and-memorial/Find gone cold – texas true crime on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram by using @gonecoldpodcast and on YouTube at: youtube.com/c/gonecoldpodcastCommunityImpact.com, The Paris News, The Austin American-Statesman, The Houston Post, The Fort Worth Record, LamarCounty.org, MooreFirm.com, and Moore & Searight Family Records were used as sources for this episode #JusticeForMaryMooreSearight #Paris #ParisTX #Austin #AustinTX #Texas #TX #Texas #TexasTrueCrime #GoneCold #GoneColdPodcast #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #ColdCase #Murder #UnsolvedMurder #Unsolved
— Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an extensively researched psychotherapy method that can be performed via telehealth or in person. EMDR is used to accelerate the resolution of trauma in fewer sessions than traditional psychotherapy. EMDR does not require talking about details but rather, mental processing of events. This can be especially helpful for issues that bring up guilt, shame or general feelings of discomfort we cannot pinpoint. Valeria interviews Mary Moore — she is a licensed professional counselor associate and the Clinical Director of Lake Austin Psychotherapy based in Austin, Texas. Mary is an EMDR-trained clinician specializing in PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, infertility and pregnancy loss and was trained by the Center for Prolonged Grief at Columbia in Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy. Moore is a member of the professional task force for the American Counseling Association and an associate member of EMDRIA, (the EMDR International Association) the organization for clinicians and researchers that upholds the highest standard of clinical use for EMDR. She lectures nationally and has written on a variety of mental health topics for outlets including The New York Times, Glamour, Marie Claire and The Huffington Post. Talk Art SPECIAL EPISODE!!!! We travel to Somerset to have an exclusive 5am visit to Stonehenge and an art adventure to Hauser & Wirth in Bruton. We visit Henry Moore's exhibition 'Sharing Form' for a guided tour with the artist's daughter Mary Moore and curator Hannah Higham. Hauser and Wirth Somerset present a comprehensive survey spanning six decades extends across all five gallery spaces, in addition to an open-air presentation of seminal works including: ‘The Arch' (1963/69), ‘Large Interior Form' (1953 – 1954) and ‘Locking Piece' (1962 – 1963).The exhibition takes as its starting point the artist's early fascination with the Neolithic site of Stonehenge, which Moore first encountered the prehistoric monuments under the moonlight as a young man in 1921, fifty-two years later he embarked on a series of lithographs on the subject. Moore was fascinated by the relationship between the towering masses of ancient stone, their size and siting in the landscape, and the mysterious ‘depths and distances' evoked on his returning visits. For Moore, the power and intensity of such large forms set against land and sky precipitated career-long investigations into scale, material and volume and the juxtaposition of art and nature, which are presented throughout the exhibition.Alongside Moore's most celebrated works, the viewer is immersed in a deeply personal selection of artworks and objects curated by Mary Moore, set within the centre of the exhibition. The collection contains almost 100 items from her father's studio and home, providing an insight into the working life of the sculptor and intimate memories she holds through these objects. The unique experience brings together Moore's visual library and the vocabulary of ideas that he developed during his working life. The exhibition was organised with support from the Henry Moore Foundation.Alongside Moore's most celebrated works, the viewer is immersed in a deeply personal selection of artworks and objects curated by Mary Moore, set within the centre of the exhibition. Ireland is known for being one of the friendliest countries in the world. From greeting strangers on the street, to thanking our bus drivers, Irish people are proud of their welcoming nature. So that is why we have decided to make friendship (or 'cairdeas' in Irish) the theme of this month's episode. On our meet the maker section we chat to Catherine Bradford from Simply Mourne. House Majority Leader Nathaniel Ledbetter is also with us to discuss special session prospects and his running for House Speaker in 2023. And Rep. While we're out on hiatus for the next few weeks, we're going to be resharing some of our favorite and most impactful interviews from the last year or so. This week, we're sharing our interview from March 12, 2021, with Rep. Mary Moore. She zoomed in to discuss her participation in marches led by Dr. King and why the new anti-riot bill scares her. Send us a question: When we come back from hiatus, we want to take a little bit of time each week to answer questions from our audience about Alabama politics — or Alabama in general. If you have a question about a politician, a policy, or a trend — really anything — you can shoot us an email at apwproducer@gmail.com. You can also send us a voice recording to that email with your question, and we may play it on air! Make sure you include your name (first name is fine) and where you live. About APW: APW is a weekly Alabama political podcast hosted by Josh Moon and David Person, two longtime Alabama political journalists. More information is available on our website. On this episode we chat to Mary Moore, founder of Irish at Heart, about her many visits to the Burren. Conor tells us about the matchmaking festival in Lisdoonvarna, renowned for helping singles across the world to find love. And finally, on our Meet the Maker section, we chat to Evan Talty from Wild Irish Seaweeds, a company that has been harvesting wild organic seaweed off the West Coast of Clare for over 100 years. Face to Face! Indoors! All our dreams come true! Slightly unusual episode this week as Boz had a uni assignment, so Ben took the reins. We discuss pointless press conferences, learn about slow then fast bikes and decide whether to ride up a hill or forever. Then we work out who's cycling covid, hear about a floating car and ping ponging wrong. And we round out with a scary event and a drunk golfer.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/backseatcoaches)

The East Side Freedom Library invites you to a special evening with Mary Moore Easter and her new poetry collection Free Papers: Inspired by the Testimony of Eliza Winston, A Mississippi Slave Escaped to Freedom in Minnesota in 1860. Mary Moore Easter is the author of The Body of the World (Minnesota Book Award in Poetry Finalist, 2019); Walking from Origins; From the Flutes of Our Bones (Nodin Press 2020), and Free Papers: poems inspired by the testimony of Eliza Winston, a Mississippi slave, escaped to freedom in Minnesota in 1860. (Finishing Line Press 2021) A Pushcart Prize-nominated poet, Cave Canem Fellow, veteran dancer /choreographer, and emerita professor of dance at Carleton College, Easter is the mother of two daughters and four grandchildren. Poet Danez Smith writes: “Mary Moore Easter's Free Papers is dreaming in the archives. Through poems that document and redocument the life of Eliza Winston paired beside poems that reach across time to unite Black women in their quest to rapture the self from the prisons of nation and whiteness, Easter has built a hall of mirrors where one can come out of the other side free, transformed. Here, documents morph like a mind suddenly free from its last shackle. The poetry, freedom's promise, knows no bounds.” As a special treat, for “Winslow House: A Script for Three Voices,” Mary will be joined by her daughter Allison Easter (Based in NY, Allison Easter was the first American woman in Stomp and has performed with MacArthur awardees Susan Marshall and Meredith Monk, in Law & Order and in Will Pomerantz's adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities.) and Siddeqah Shabazz (Originally from Oakland, CA, with degrees in theater from the University of La Verne in Southern California and the Guildford School of Acting in England, she has worked in the Twin Cities with Climb, Shadow Horse, Gadfly, Chain Reaction, Freshwater, and 20% Theaters, Exposed Brick Theatre, Savage Umbrella, Aniccha Arts, Intermedia Arts, Artistry, Underdog Theatre, Transatlantic Love Affair, and Full Circle Theatre.) During the 20th century a British coal miner's son changed the world of art. Henry Moore revolutionised sculpture, altering the way we view the human figure and setting his works in natural landscapes. He became internationally renowned and by the 1970s hundreds of his sculptures could be seen outside government buildings, universities and museums around the world. His daughter, Mary Moore, remembers how initially his work shocked his teachers and art critics.
