### Tucker Carlson's Independent Ventures Make Waves in 2024In a year marked by political turbulence and significant shifts in the media landscape, Tucker Carlson, the well-known conservative commentator formerly of Fox News, has remained a figure of considerable interest and influence. Throughout 2024, Carlson has embarked on several independent projects, capturing audiences and stirring debates across the political spectrum.Carlson, who built his career as a staple voice on conservative television, making nightly appearances that mixed sharp political commentary with provocative takes on current events, has seemingly transitioned with ease into new ventures outside the traditional cable news orbit. These projects, which span various digital platforms and formats, suggest a strategic adaptation to the changing ways in which audiences consume news and political commentary. While specific details of all Carlson's projects remain selectively disclosed, a few have made significant impacts, drawing attention not only from longtime followers but also from new audiences. One such endeavor is a series of in-depth investigative reports focusing on subjects ranging from political corruption to societal shifts brought about by technology. These reports, released as a mix of written articles and video documentaries, have sparked conversations and occasionally controversy, demonstrating Carlson's continued relevance in the national discourse. Moreover, Carlson has embraced the podcasting world, where his distinctive voice and viewpoint have found a robust following. The podcast, known for its deep dives into issues of the day and interviews with a range of guests — from political heavyweights to cultural figures — has climbed the charts. It epitomizes the growing trend of prominent personalities leveraging podcasts to reach audiences in a more direct and often unfiltered manner.Carlson's adept use of social media platforms to amplify his projects and engage with his audience signifies another facet of his strategy. By doing so, he bypasses traditional media gatekeepers, allowing him to craft and disseminate his narrative directly. This approach has not only broadened his reach but also fostered a sense of community among his viewers and listeners, who often share and discuss his content in online forums and social media groups.Critics of Carlson point out that his transition from cable news to independent media projects has not tempered his penchant for controversy or diminished his polarizing effect on the public discourse. They argue that his projects, while certainly successful in garnering attention, also contribute to the polarization of American politics by reinforcing partisan divides.Supporters, on the other hand, celebrate Carlson for what they see as his unyielding commitment to speaking out on issues they feel are often neglected or misrepresented by mainstream media. They view his success in these independent ventures as evidence of a hunger among the public for alternative perspectives and a break from the traditional news narrative. As 2024 progresses, Tucker Carlson's trajectory will be closely watched. His ability to navigate the evolving media landscape, while retaining a significant influence over public opinion and debate, speaks to the dynamic nature of contemporary political commentary. Whether one views him as a necessary contrarian voice or as a divisive figure, it's clear that Carlson's impact on American political discourse remains undiminished by his move from the prime time slot of cable news to the frontier of independent media.

Our Very Special Guests on Part II of The TJS Radio Interview with the Filmmakers of Miss Lillian" More Than A Presidents Mother with Director Vivian Winther + Composer John Van Tongeren and with Steven Ullman | Producer + Carol Swarbrick | Actor/Co-Writer + Jim Dries | Co-Writer. - - - About The Film: At 97 Jimmy Carter is the oldest living former US president. He only served a single term, but his dedication to humanitarian efforts and down-to-earth personality have made him a favorite amongst progressives. Documentarian Vivian Winther examines the woman who helped shape him in Miss Lillian: More Than A President's Mother. Lillian Carter was born in 1898 to a humble family in Southwestern Georgia. Her father ignored the segregationist norms of the time, preferring a hard work ethic over the color of someone's skin. A passion for helping people drove her to nursing school, after which she became a successful local nurse who treated the local African American community equally alongside her white patients. Lillian Carter later dedicated her life to social activism and served in the Peace Corps, where she treated lepers in India. When her oldest son was elected president, Lillian Carter became popular with reporters and Johnny Carson for her blend of Southern Hospitality and directness. She never hesitated to tell it like it was or put people in their place when they got out of line. Carter loved baseball, especially the Dodgers, and she became friendly with their manager Tommy Lasorda. - - - About The Filmamakers: Vivian Winther (Director) is a multifaceted creative producer, director, and writer. She was born in Toronto, Canada but has resided in the Unit- ed States for 30 years. Her career spans thirty years and three continents. Vivian started in front of the camera in the '80s as a top print model. Her work took her to Europe, Tokyo, and the United States. However, it is the behind-the-scenes aspects of film that has a much stronger pull for her. Initially, this translated to script development with a passion for develop- ing unknown writers. In order to realize these projects, Vivian began producing and started Harvest Table Pictures. She wound up in the documentary film world. Her premiere feature documentary is Miss Lillian: More Than A President's Mother, for which she won the award for Best Director of a Feature Length Documentary at The Seattle Film Festival. Her next project again teamed with producer Steven Ullman, is IMPERFECT, an empowering film about women's self-love as well as a cautionary tale about the side effects of breast implantation. The film is currently in post-production. She also has another project in post-production about photo-journalist Lisl Steiner called LislBaby. - - - John Van Tongeren (Composer) won the 2019 Emmy Award for Music Composition for his work on The Tom and Jerry Show for Warner Brothers Animation. He also won the Gemini Award (Canada's version of the Emmy Award) for Music Composition in both 2000 and 2001 for his work on The Outer Limits for MGM, which he worked on for seven seasons. He composed the scores for the films Swindle, Suite Life Movie, The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, Miss Congeniality 2, Malibu's Most Wanted, The Cheetah Girls, and Twitches 1 & 2. Other television series include The 4400, Poltergeist The Legacy, Thief, and Wanted. John was one of the original three members of Media Ventures, along with Hans Zimmer and Mark Mancina. With Hans Zimmer, we worked on Thelma and Louise, True Romance, and Drop Zone. With Mark, he worked on Speed, Assassins, and Twister. - - - Miss Lillian: More Than A Presidents Mother Website: misslillian.com On Facebook: The Lillian Carter Story Purchase the film: geni.us/MissLillian or on misslillian.com Principal Cast President Jimmy Carter Former First Lady Rosalyn Carter Sam Donaldson Tommy Lasorda Carol Swarbrick

It is said that “breaking news” is the first draft of history. “We Interrupt This Broadcast: Before it was history, it was news” marks the first time the stories of these historical events are told exclusively by the broadcasters and TV journalists whose work created those drafts in real-time. Created by Joe Garner, author of the eponymous New York Times Best-Selling Book, this 12-episode audio docuseries launching July 20, 2021, celebrates the crucial role broadcast journalism has played throughout our nation's history. Hosted by legendary broadcaster Bill Kurtis and narrated by NBC's Brian Williams, each episode unfolds with the brisk pace and tone of a thriller while presenting an in-depth look into the reporting of, and reaction to, events that have since become benchmarks in history. The contributors are a “Who's who” in broadcast journalism. Along with the thrilling broadcast news audio, exclusive, rare, and never-before-heard recordings are woven throughout each episode. Speaking of the new podcast, Williams told our own host: "This is nothing short of American history in audio form." The docuseries, produced by i4 Media Ventures, LLC, will be presented over six seasons. Each season is comprised of 12 episodes, all published simultaneously: 10 episodes in each season are based on events that occurred in the broadcast era and two are based on seminal moments that occurred in early American history (such as the passing of the 19thAmendment) and dramatized as if reported by broadcast journalists. Each episode concludes with the journalists offering candid and critical analysis on how they and their fellow reporters covered the event. “None of us lucky enough to have these anchor jobs got into the business for the perfectly average Tuesday in August,” notes Williams, who is an executive producer as well as narrator of the podcast. “While I have nothing against Tuesdays in August, we measure ourselves, our talent and ability, by how we work without a net. The rush to the studio and the need to describe and explain breaking news in real time. Calm becomes a critical commodity -- awareness of how the world works helps, and that includes a working knowledge of politics, history, aircraft, weapons, geography and about a dozen other subjects.” “Not only do people remember where they were when a momentous story broke,” Williams added, “They remember who reported it to them, and who talked them through it.” Kurtis, an acclaimed documentarian, 30-year veteran of CBS News, and host of the podcast, said, “I have spent a good deal of career reporting and analyzing these world-changing events and I am pleased to participate in this project, which amplifies and hones in on the very important work that broadcast journalists do to ensure the news is reported quickly, accurately, and fairly.” Season One features the following landmark moments in American and world history from the Hindenburg disaster and D-Day Invasion to the assassination of John F Kennedy and the tragedy of Columbine and 9/11. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/john-aidan-byrne0/support
This summer you may be heading to a music festival. It says a lot about the times we're in now, that you are as likely to have that experience in a field full of strangers as you are watching performances from the comfort of your sofa with your family. But what does that mean for the business model of festivals? And what role should digital play in the festival goer's experience? Nicolas Bonard, CEO of Montreux Jazz Festival Media Ventures, was brought in to help answer those very questions. He tells us how he and his team are using digital to reinvent the festival experience, revisiting why they exist, what their proposition is and how to diversify their offering. If you run any kind of annual event, or if your organisation needs to reach young people, or you're planning to reinvent what you do, Nicolas has lots of great advice for you. Alexis Grant didn’t start her career with the goal of building several media businesses. She simply wanted work as a reporter. After college, she got a job at the Houston Chronicle and then later accepted a role editing the careers section at US News & World Report. But something about the business of media intrigued her, and while at US News & World Report she launched a side hustle running social media and blogs for corporate clients. Eventually, she drummed up enough business to quit her day job and focus on content marketing full time. In fact, she launched an entire marketing agency that specialized in producing branded content. One of her clients was a personal finance website called The Penny Hoarder, and she was so successful at growing its audience that the company eventually acquired her agency and installed her as its editor in chief. By the time she left The Penny Hoarder a few years later, it was generating tens of millions of dollars in annual revenue. I recently interviewed Alexis about how she helped scale these companies and what she plans to do next.

Toby Chu takes some time to talk about his recent score to the new star-studded animated feature Legends Of Oz: Dorothy's Return. Toby's story of his journey to his film composing career is a fascinating one. He talks about how he discovered music and what led him to finally get to Los Angeles and by chance getting a job with Hans Zimmer's company (Media Ventures at the time). This led to working as an additional composer on many of Harry Gregson-Williams' scores, and being an essential part of Harry's team at Wavecrest Studios. Toby talks about his own process as well on show's like Covert Affairs and Burn Notice. With Burn Notice, Toby came into the series run late in the game and had to hit the ground running which is fascinating to learn about. We of course also discuss Legends Of Oz and how Toby wanted to approach his version of Oz plus getting the rare opportunity to write an overture for the film, an almost non-existent thing in films these days. All in all, Toby gives an incredibly in-depth and personal interview that really illuminates his talents as a composer. Interview Conducted By:Kaya Savas Special Thanks:Toby ChuEmilie ErskineCW3PR
