A Meditation Practice for Equanimity

Equanimity isn't just a buzzword; it's a mental fortress. It's the art of letting experiences—both the sweet and the bitter—arrive and depart without shaking our inner calm. Just like a chocolate craving that pulls at our desires, attachment disrupts our peace.  But what if we could observe that craving like clouds passing through the sky?  To help listeners cultivate a deeper sense of equanimity, Margaret introduces a guided meditation that encourages acceptance of all beings and thoughts—pleasant and unpleasant alike. This practice emphasizes seeing thoughts as transient clouds, promoting a healthier relationship with both our positive and negative experiences. Throughout the episode, you'll be inspired to reflect on your own responses to life's challenges and the importance of nurturing a balanced mind.

Meditation is not a "one-size-fits-all" practice because each person processes thoughts, emotions, and energy in unique ways. In the context of Human Design—a system that blends astrology, the I Ching, Kabbalah, and the chakra system—every individual's energetic blueprint is distinct, which means that their approach to mindfulness and meditation should be as well. Human Design outlines various energy centers in the body, each responsible for different aspects of cognition, inspiration, and decision-making. Some centers are defined and consistent, while others are open and susceptible to external influence. Understanding how these centers function, particularly the Head and Ajna centers, can lead to a more effective, personalized approach to meditation. By aligning meditation practices with the way these centers process energy, individuals can cultivate more clarity, reduce mental clutter, and achieve a greater sense of inner peace. Our Sponsors:* Check out IXL and use my code TODAY for a great deal: www.ixl.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/human-design-your-personal-blueprint-for-life/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Friday! This week's theme for the podcast is: Top 10 Questions to Ask Yourself RegularlyThis week we are going to speak about my favorite, top 10 questions to ask yourself for more mental clarity, mindset shifts & breakthrough thoughts to continue on your journey to becoming your best self. Here are some notes from today's episode:I feel like I left the hardest questions for the end of the week. But I think these ones will allow you to have something deep to think about over the weekend. And maybe these are questions you have never asked yourself, so it will be eye opening what your answers are.So let's get into it. The first question I want to go over is What Is My Why?Both of today's questions are super difficult for me to answer, but I still continue to ask myself these questions because I know I will learn a little more about myself every time I think about it or ask myself these questions. But something I neglected to mention in the beginning of the week is that you need to give yourself some grace & patience when going through these thinking exercises because you might not always have the answers you want or need or understand. But with this first question, What Is My Why, I would suggest asking yourself this question in regards to different parts of your life. You can for sure think about it in a general way, but by going section by section & applying it that way, you can get a little deeper with your answers. For me, this question can get me instantly overwhelmed if I am not careful in managing my emotions. It's also because I am immediately judging myself for maybe not having the correct answer. I just want you to know this question & the next could be super hard to get through, but it will help you realize more of who you are & what you want in life. For the second question, How Can I Create the Life I Want?, it really makes me question which question is tougher. But I feel like you can go over some easy, practical ways that might work & continue to cycle through things until you find one that pops & gets you in the groove you need to be in.And yes, you might be asking, “How will I know I am in that right groove?” Honestly, I think you will truly just feel how right it is & lean more into it. I know that's not scientific, but it's true.I do want to leave you with some practical ways to get on the road to creating a life that you want. The first thing you should do is envision that you already have the life that you want.Stop dwelling on the past.Say goodbye to overwhelming fear.Decide what you want from life. You will have to stop worrying about what others think about you & whether they are judging you or not. Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or visit my website: www.sabrinajoy.comSee you for Next Week's episode!Support the show

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Thursday! Here are some notes from today's episode:The questions we are going to go over today are ones that have to do with mostly getting rid of things in your life.It can be amazing to add hobbies, positive habits & shifted mindsets to your life for that uplifting effect, but it can also be super therapeutic to remove things from your life, too. There are even things in your life that are fine to have for a season & then remove at the appropriate time.So let's jump into our first question: What Negative Self-Beliefs Do You Have to Unlearn?Negative self-beliefs, also known as limiting beliefs, can impact your self-esteem, your feelings about what you are capable of doing & completing & your relationships with others. Some examples of limiting beliefs are fear of failure, feeling not good enough, feeling unlovable, fear of rejection, feeling like a failure, feeling like an outsider, & feeling like everything is your fault. This is the type of question that might need to be asked on a regular basis until you are able to manage any negative beliefs that continue to pop-up & try to dominate your headspace.Once you are able to identify your negative self-beliefs, you should take the time to ask yourself why you are believing these thoughts & if anyone's previous opinions have contributed to those thoughts, as well. Try to come up with any evidence that backs up any of your negative claims, which you probably won't, and understand that these negative beliefs are probably formed from someone else's opinion and/or something that you shouldn't have taken personally. Our next question is: What Do You Need to Add or Subtract in Your Life? This question is much easier for you to ask yourself & figure out because it's more of just a simple evaluation of what may be causing you stress or too much distraction that needs to be removed or what habits need to be added into your life, like mediation, exercise, supplements or time with supportive friends.Of course it will be much easier to add things into your life than it will be to edit out, but it's important to make the effort to edit out anything that causes you stress, mental or physical harm, that distracts you from doing what you actually need to be doing, or things that aren't helping you reach your goals. Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or visit my website: www.sabrinajoy.comSee you for Friday's episode!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Wednesday! Here are some notes from today's episode:No surprise that I had to bring up a couple questions that had to do directly with mental health. It's the thing I like to talk about the most, of course.Let's talk about the first question, How Am I Nurturing My Mental Health Today? The reason you want to nurture your mental health is to improve your boundaries, social connections, emotional healthy & overall wellbeing. Nurturing your mental health can also boost your mood & help you strengthen your resilience. Some of the ways you can nurture you mental health are: take breaks from technology, practice forgiveness, try new things, find a way to ground yourself (nature, stretching, breathing exercises), focus on things in the moment, take breaks & get more sleep. Our next question, How Can I Care for Myself?I feel like these questions so easily go hand in hand & are related. But with this question, I want you to think about actual activities you can do to care for yourself. And you should be trying to do something for yourself, every single day, even if something really small.Maybe it's just doing morning meditation to get yourself off on a good start, maybe you will do some skincare (if you're into that), take breaks away from work, add some exercise or movement into your daily routine, engage in a favorite hobby, say no to things you don't have the time or capacity to engage in & take a nap.You have to take the time to take care of yourself because no one is going to take on that task. And if someone is, they are overstepping a boundary they need to get in check. Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or visit my website: www.sabrinajoy.comSee you for Thursday's episode!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Tuesday! Here are some notes from today's episode:I hope you know me well enough now (if you are a regular listener) that I cannot get through a full week of podcast episodes without talking about gratitude. One of today's questions is asking what are you grateful for today, which I find to be such an important practice that I needed to make sure I went over during this week's top 10 questions. Also, related to that is asking yourself what positive thing you did that day. So let's chat about it real quick. The biggest reason I want you to ask yourself What Am I Grateful for Today is because it will help you focus more on the positive, blessings in your life, rather than anything that is causing you stress or having any overwhelming feels.Practicing gratitude on the daily will help shift your mindset over time to focus more on the good more often than not.It can also help you feel more in touch with your true feelings, because even though you are expressing gratitude, you can take a true look at what's going on inside your heart & figure out what needs to shift for gratitude to come easier (if that's a struggle for you, which is TOTALLY fine). You will also be able to expression compassion & kindness much easier & even sleep better, as adding in more gratitude will create more peaceful emotions. And now to chat about the question, What Is Something Positive I Did Today. I think that asking yourself this question will again, shift your mindset to focus & find something positive & upbeat that has happened in your day.Now the tough part about this question is that if you have trouble identifying something positive that you did might make you feel like a failure or feeling bad about yourself. But instead of feeling like that, change it to make it a challenge to make sure you do something positive the next day & each day after. And it doesn't have to be big & grandiose, either. It can be something as small as smiling at someone, holding the door for someone, giving a compliment to a stranger.Don't beat yourself up if you don't accomplish one every single day, just use those feelings to push you to try harder the next day.I also believe that trying to do something positive every day will help you feel accomplished & happy, honestly. And a bonus to that is having the feeling that you gave back if your positive thing was for someone else.Lastly, I want to mention that the something positive can for sure be something for yourself. Maybe a little self-care or mental health time for yourself could be REALLY nice & helpful. Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or visit my website: www.sabrinajoy.comSee you for Wednesday's episode!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)

RealPositiveGirl - Weekly Encouragement & Mental Health

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Sunday! This week's theme for the podcast is: TraumaThis week we are going to speak about trauma. I thought it would be helpful to go over how it can manifest in our lives, what can cause traumatic events to affect us so badly & what we should do to recover properly. Here are some notes from today's episode:Let's talk about what triggers are. Triggers are reminders of past events, sometimes can be unrecognized, come from unresolved traumas, and can be really reactive expressions of being reminded of those traumas.Triggers can show us as so many things, such as anniversary dates of past events, feeling overwhelmed, family troubles, relationship troubles, feelings of being judged or criticized, financial problems, mentioning of a tender topic, the list goes on.Some of the best ways to overcome triggers is to first identify what the trigger is & where is originated from. Sometimes noting the trigger in a journal & reflecting back on when it began to become an issue.Next, take the time to reprogram your negative thoughts. Remember to tell yourself that the reactions to your triggers aren't really what's happening & you aren't back where you were when the trauma happened. It can be so easy to get caught up.Calming your body when you are triggered can help you become grounded & get through the experience quicker. Calming breaths & muscle relaxation & essential oils can all help to calm you & bring you back to your normal self.Make sure you are not giving into avoiding your triggers & feelings. You need to face the things that are causing you stress & emotional & mental harm. Some basic suggestions for overcoming your trauma experiences, are to first give yourself time to heal & recover, no matter how long that would take.Asking for help is also very important. Don't be ashamed to ask for help from friends & family or professional help.Get into a good routine for yourself to heal & feel as “normal” as you can.Get support from others that have had the same experiences. Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or visit my website: www.sabrinajoy.comSee you for Next Week's episode!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Thursday! This week's theme for the podcast is: TraumaThis week we are going to speak about trauma. I thought it would be helpful to go over how it can manifest in our lives, what can cause traumatic events to affect us so badly & what we should do to recover properly. Here are some notes from today's episode:Today's episode is going to be pretty simple. I just want to chat with you about some comforting reminders for those of us that have gone through trauma or possibly something you could say to someone you know is suffering from past or current traumas. The first thing I want to remind you of is that your trauma matters. No matter if you know someone else that has gone through something you consider worse, yours still matters and it is very important. Even if no one knows about your trauma, it still matters & you deserve a space to talk about it, if you choose to. Don't let anyone tell you different. You are allowed to struggle. You do not have to measure up to anyone else's or even your own high expectations. No matter how long ago your trauma was. You're not alone. There are other people out here struggling & going through difficult times, so you don't have to be awkward about your own struggles. What happened was not your fault or what you deserved. You don't need permission to exist. It's ok to have bad days, weeks or months. Healing isn't linear. There shouldn't be any shame in asking for help. You have the right to acknowledge your feelings without having to justify those feelings. You're allowed to opt-out of overwhelming environments.

RealPositiveGirl - Weekly Encouragement & Mental Health

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Wednesday! This week's theme for the podcast is: TraumaThis week we are going to speak about trauma. I thought it would be helpful to go over how it can manifest in our lives, what can cause traumatic events to affect us so badly & what we should do to recover properly. Here are some notes from today's episode:Today I want to go over what the side effects of childhood trauma are, other ways traumas during that time can affect us & how to move forward from those struggles.Experiences like physical & sexual abuse are clearly traumatic events, but also are car accidents, natural distasters & deaths. Even just ongoing stress & anxiety of feeling unsafe can be considered trauma. And as you can tell, the trauma doesn't have to happen directly to you, but even just in your environment for you to be exposed to the experience. And sometimes children that go through traumatic events will be able to recover easier & quicker than others & move on without any lingering symptoms. But others can have ptsd after the fact & find themself replaying the event in their mind & making huge efforts to avoid anything that reminds them of what happened. With ptsd comes other behavioral issues, but even without ptsd, the child can have lingering behavioral problems following the experience.Let's talk about the symptoms of unresolved childhood trauma next.A few of the big ones are recurring nightmares, depression, attachment & intimacy problems, avoiding emotions, alcohol & drug dependencies, low self-esteem, self-hatred & anxiety/panic attacks. In addition to these symptoms, here are some emotional side effects that could happen due to childhood trauma. You might pretend to be someone else & a perfect picture of someone to love & care for if you didn't receive that as a child. You bury your feelings & put a false identity to get the love & care you crave but also lose who you truly are in the process. You have that constant victim mentality. Instead of feeling like a victim, consider yourself a survivor. You could become ultra passive-aggressive if you were taught & observed that anger was not an emotion you were allowed to show or share. Now let's end this episode briefly talking about healing from childhood traumas.Learn how to self-regulate & manage stress better. Stress can easily lead you back into old coping mechanisms that were formed during your traumatic experiences as a child. You need to take the initiative to learn better ways to manage & handle stressful situations. Even something as simple as meditation can help a lot.Getting help from a professional is always a great idea.Let yourself trust people again. Don't isolate because of your past experiences. Learn to trust again & form those types of relationships.Be honest with yourself on whether your current methods of dealing with your past pain is working or not.

RealPositiveGirl - Weekly Encouragement & Mental Health

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Tuesday! This week's theme for the podcast is: TraumaThis week we are going to speak about trauma. I thought it would be helpful to go over how it can manifest in our lives, what can cause traumatic events to affect us so badly & what we should do to recover properly. Here are some notes from today's episode:The biggest influence that trauma can have in our lives going forward is how to navigate through intimate relationships. This is especially true if it was childhood trauma & relationships were not modeled to us properly in the first place.Depending on how we were taught relationships will reflect how we were able to practice healthy attachments within relationships. This is super important because if we aren't able to develop healthy relationship & attachment skills, relationships are likely to struggle & possibly fail. There are actually 4 different attachment types: secure, dismissive-avoidant, anxious-preoccupied & disorganized.Secure is when you can establish trust in your partner. There is little fear of rejection/abandonment, equally able to depend on each other, communication is there & emotions within the relationship are managed well.Dismissive-avoidant will equate closeness with loss of freedom/independence, lacks connection to emotions, prefers to be alone, avoids conflict & has trouble being depended on & the opposite.Anxious-preoccupied can be very insecure & needy, needing constant validation, extremely emotional, lack of boundaries, & takes things personally.Disorganized has trouble choosing between wanting a relationship & being alone, trouble letting others in & when they do - serious abandonment issues, hot & cold feelings & can become detached & dissociated.Let's go over some ways it can show up for us specifically in relationships.Trust issues can arise.Of course fear of rejection and/or abandonment. This can also be a constant thing, too.Feeling like you are overwhelming to the other person.Trouble with being vulnerable.Fear of getting into fights or having conflict in general.Lack of boundaries.Always waiting for things to go bad. Here are a couple ways to work on healing from your traumatic experiences to have better relationships:Just being in healthy relationships that are supportive of your healing is one of the best things you can do. And I know this sounds easier said than done because typically we involve ourselves in the types of relationships that were modeled to us & those can sometimes be bad ones. But if you can be with someone that supports your recovery & setbacks, then you're in a supportive, healing relationship. It's also important to not identify the person you are in a relationship with as a savior, but rather a partner. And lastly, begin to be aware of your behavior patterns, which will help you overcome those & become stronger against triggers & fears associated with the pain of dealing with trauma while in committed relationships. Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or visit my website: www.sabrinajoy.comSee you for WednesdaSupport the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)

RealPositiveGirl - Weekly Encouragement & Mental Health

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Monday! This week's theme for the podcast is: TraumaThis week we are going to speak about trauma. I thought it would be helpful to go over how it can manifest in our lives, what can cause traumatic events to affect us so badly & what we should do to recover properly. Here are some notes from today's episode:This week I want to do a brief over on trauma. I myself have experienced a lot of trauma as a child & it has followed me into my adult life, causing some issues.I'm sure I am not alone in those feelings & experiences & thought it would be helpful to go over how trauma can affect our lives, how it can show up & what we should do about it.Today, let's discuss what trauma is.Trauma is an emotional response to distressing events that could of happened physically, emotionally or just around you. Trauma can cause physical & emotional symptoms for a very long time after the initial event. There are also multiple types of trauma: Acute trauma (experienced a single event), Chronic trauma (experienced prolonged & ongoing traumatic events) & Complex trauma (experienced multiple events). Some of the types of experiences that can cause trauma: rape, domestic violence, general abuse, severe illness or injury, natural disaster, death of a loved one or even witnessing violence. And I want to make sure I mention that no matter what it was that you have gone through, it's still very much important, relevant & matters. No one trauma is worse than another because all experiences are bad.Let's talk about some symptoms that could show up after experiencing trauma & as it continues to affect you.Avoiding things that remind you of the trauma, including memories.Irritability, anger & other emotional responses to even the smallest things.Flashbacks to the events.Problems sleeping and/or bad dreams.Self-blame.Shock & denial.Anxiety & fear.Feeling disconnected & numb.Withdrawing from others.Feeling sad & hopeless. Please share this podcast with anyone that may need this encouragement!Thank you again for listening & I hope this episode was helpful.Come visit me on my Instagram page @realpositivegirlpodcast or @sabrinajoyperozzo to say hi!Have any questions, comments or feedback?  Send me an email at realpositivegirlpodcast@gmail.com or visit my website: www.sabrinajoy.comSee you for Tuesday's episode!Support the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/sabrinajoy)

Hello Everyone & Welcome Back to the RealPositiveGirl Podcast!Thank you so much for joining me again!Happy Friday! This week's theme for the podcast is: How to be SupportiveThis week we are going to speak about how you can be a really great support person for someone else in your life. This could also help you identify whether or not you are getting the support you want from others in your life supporting you.Join me in going over these tips on how to be the best supportive person! Here are some notes from today's episode:Let's have a little chat about what you shouldn't do when you are trying to encourage someone. And I do want to mention that I understand you might mean well & that we should let people help in the way they want to, but some things should just be avoided. And if you are wanting some tips on what TO DO to help someone, please listen to the previous episodes from this week to get those tips.Let's start with some things you shouldn't say when trying to support someone.Don't try to spin their negative into a positive. I understand you may want to offer encouragement & try to help them look on the brightside, but usually that is not what someone wants in the thick of dealing with their pain & problems. Also don't try to minimize or diminish their pain. What they are going through matters, whether you understand it or not. Don't down play it & don't make them feel bad for feeling how they do about it.One of the best things to not say to someone is any advice, unless asked. I know there could be a few circumstances that would warrant you doling out advice without being asked if you know them well enough, but more often than not, don't do it.And make sure you do not jump into telling your own story or a story from someone else that seems relatable to what your person needing support is going through. Comparison is not helpful not wanted most of the time. If they ask for it or the conversation seems like it is leading there, fine, share the story, but unless one of those two things is happening, don't do it.In addition to the last point, do not try to one up their problem, either. Don't try to make your own experience with their current issue higher than theirs. It's not about you right now, it's about them.Let's now talk about some actions you should avoid when trying to be supportive.Don't try to ditch the tough conversations. Yes, you might feel awkward, yes you might feel like you don't know what to say and yes, you might be scared to say something wrong, but just admit you don't know what to say & sit with them in their pain.Don't force your own ideas on them because it has helped you in the past or you think you know better.Don't invite social events into their life without their consent.Don't talk about them behind their back.
