Host Anthony Desiato presents the second in a quartet of "mixtape"-style discussions digging into the 1988-1992 SUPERBOY television series starring John Newton (Season 1) and Gerard Christopher (Seasons 2-4).In Vol. II, Anthony and guest Rob O'Connor (All Star Superfan Podcast) discuss perhaps the series' greatest strength: its tragically beautiful depiction of Bizarro (Douglas B. Meyers) and his brotherly bond with Superboy in "Bizarro...the Thing of Steel" & "The Battle with Bizarro," "The Bride of Bizarro," and "To Be Human."Anthony and Rob also dig into the show's presentation of Superman villains Metallo, Toyman (in the form of Nick Knack here), Mister Mxyzptlk, and the Kryptonite Kid."A Superboy Fan Journey" Chapter IX.Support the show and receive exclusive podcast content at Patreon.com/AnthonyDesiato, including the spinoff podcasts BEYOND METROPOLIS and DIGGING FOR JUSTICE!Visit BCW Supplies and use promo code FSP to save 10% on your next order of comics supplies. Original Airdate 6/18/13 - This episode has been edited from it's original broadcast. To celebrate the release of Man of Steel we look at the entire Christopher Reeve Superman franchise in a special 2-hour + podcast! It features the usual hosts of Mark Radulich and Sean Comer and they are joined by Robert Winfree and Robert Cooper. In 1973, producer Ilya Salkind convinced his father Alexander to buy the film rights to Superman. They hired Mario Puzo to pen a two-film script, and negotiated with Steven Spielberg to direct, though Alexander eventually landed on someone else. Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980) were shot simultaneously. For the third installment, Ilya Salkind wrote a treatment that expanded the film's scope to a cosmic scale, introducing villains Brainiac and Mister Mxyzptlk, as well as Supergirl. Warner Bros., however, rejected and retooled the script into their own film, trimming Brainiac down into the film's evil "ultimate computer". The final product co-starred comedian Richard Pryor as computer wizard Gus Gorman, who—under the manipulation of a millionaire magnate—creates a form of Kryptonite that turns Superman into an evil self.Cannon Films picked up an option for a fourth film, directed by Sidney J. Furie, with Reeve reprising the role due to his interest in the film's topic regarding nuclear weapons. Several others reprised their roles as well, including Kidder (Lois Lane) and Hackman (Lex Luthor). However, Cannon decided to cut the budget, resulting in poor special effects and heavy re-editing, which contributed to the film's poor reception.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsoFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76

Massively prolific rapper, 2Mex, with the Visionaries, Of Mexican Decent and The Shape Shifters, also legitimately affiliated with Project Blowed, sits in for a discussion with Tai & Adrienne on episode 68 of The DOD45 Show. On this episode  @ArtByTai  draws  @2mextv992  his portrait with a mashup of Mister Mxyzptlk & Frankenhooker while they discuss how dope 2Mex's fan-base is, how important his friends were in his recovery from the loss of his leg due to complications with diabetes and how he manages to stay so positive at the face of adversity. 2Mex also squeezes a flex on us regarding his Jeopardy knowledge & they discuss the recent crowd-funded campaign to help him get a much-needed new prosthetic leg. In true DOD45 fashion they talk a lot about cinema in this episode, with movies like True Lies, True Grit & True Romance and 2Mex also expresses his disgust with the quote, unquote "garbage movie" The Mexican and remarks on his appreciation for the Tarantino-stamped movie, Curdled. It's a nice chill chat with 2Mex and As always, Tai hits him with a handful of hypotheticals and Sophie's Choice questions and Sage Francis drops in with a social media lurk about a 2Mex tweet from 2014 regarding Big Sean and Slug of Atmosphere. It's the start of Series 6 and this is our first episode back from our break, which results in some format switch ups, new graphics and a new segment called “The Dish” firsts, worsts and favorites, giving us answers to 2Mex's first celebrity crush, his least favorite color, his favorite comedian, and so much more. It's a perfect way to start the new series and we hope you enjoy it. Jack tells Meria why he has Trump Forgiveness Syndrome and implies that his long-time friend has Trump Derangement Syndrome. Chuck piped in a few times to facilitate calls and switch things up a touch while doing what Jack asked him to do. It's a bit messy.Mr. Blood seems to have found some faith in magical things. Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss Superman 3. Director Richard Lester returns from his work on the theatrical cut of Superman 2 to helm Superman 3 and leans more heavy into comedy this time around. An earlier screenplay for Superman 3 had Braniac and Mister Mxyzptlk as the villains, but after Richard Pryor did an extended routine on the Superman movies on The Johnny Carson Show, the script was rewritten to focus more on Pryor. Gus (Richard Pryor) is unemployed in Metropolis, but finds out he's a latent computer whiz. Greedy multimillionaire Ross (Robert Vaughn) hires Gus to help with his nefarious scheme. Superman (Christopher Reeve) has to save the day once again. We get some nice moments with Clark Kent reuniting with Lana (Annette O'Toole), an old high school friend back in Smallville. Other highlights of the film are Bad Superman fighting against Clark Kent in a junkyard, and Gus acting drunk with a security guard to gain access to a computer terminal. Too bad the plot's too complicated, most of the jokes don't land, and the pacing's damn horrendous. Mat found parts of Gilbert, a new documentary on comedian and podcaster Gilbert Gottfried directed by Neil Berkeley, to be moving. It's a personal look at his life and career. He caught The Disaster Artist in the theater and found it to be agreeable. It's a comedic look at the making of The Room, an infamous low budget drama that became a cult comedy favorite due to its poor writing and stilted line delivery. James Franco's loose directing helps capture the ramshackle feel of the movie it's about. Don't watch The Disaster Artist without watching The Room first.  Thrasher has been working his way through the Harry Potter films again and found Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix to be his new favorite of the series. He also liked a rare Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode on the flick Robot Holocaust. Listen to this episode while wearing an oversized cowboy hat and drinking bourbon for maximum enjoyment. The Justice Society of America was conceived by editor Sheldon Mayer and writer Gardner Fox. The JSA first appeared in All Star Comics #3 (Winter 1940–1941). VIXEN - Probably the most recognizable member of the JSA's cast this time around was Vixen -- at least for fans of the CWverse. In addition to having her own animated series, Vixen -- an African-American woman who derives the power of animals from the Tantu Totem she wears around her neck -- had a memorable guest appearance on Arrow last season. Of course, that's all Mari. This woman? Mari's grandmother, Amaya Jiwe, who passed the totem down through their family. HOURMAN - Rex Tyler, also known as Hourman, is a Golden Age superhero and the first of a number of characters to use the Hourman name. Tyler has a number of superhuman abilities, like enhanced strength, reflexes, and healing -- but only for an hour at a time. His abilities are given to him by Miraclo, a drug he designed himself. There is an Hourman legacy including Rex's son Rick and an android from the 853rd Century programmed to act as a member of the Tyler family. The android, at a point in the past, presented Rex with an hourglass infused with tachyons -- time in its most basic form -- and that hourglass would become part of both his and Rick's costumes. Said hourglass has been seen on board the Waverider on previous episodes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.. STARGIRL - Stargirl is Courtney Whitmore. In the TV series, she exists in 1942 -- but in the original comics, she was created (and existed) in 1999, and was part of a "next generation" of Justice Society members who came up in the late '90s and early 2000s. Courtney Whitmore was created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, and has a famous backstory: Johns named her after (and based her personality on) his sister Courtney, who died in the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996. COMMANDER STEEL - Commander Steel is Hank Heywood, Sr., the first in a line of DC heroes to use variations on the Steel moniker. A legend in the World War II era and a member of the All-Star Squadron and later the Justice Society of America, Heywood's body had surgically-implanted mechanized steel devices that allowed his body to work on a superhuman level. Originally just "Steel," he was promoted to Commander Steel by President Roosevelt in 1940 -- so while this is his first appearance in live action, it's timeline-accurate to call him Commander Steel by this point in his career since the story takes place in 1942. DOCTOR MID-NITE - Doctor Mid-Nite is a name shared by a number of blind super-heroes and physicians with the ability to see in the darkness, using blackout bombs and martial arts to gain an advantage over criminals. Doctor Mid-Nite was created by Charles Reizenstein and Stan Aschmeier, first appearing in All-American Comics #25. OBSIDIAN - Obsidian is the son of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, a founding member of the JSA in the comics. He and his sister Jade would go on to play an important role in the Justice Society's sinoff groups the Young All-Stars and Infinity, Inc., as well as eventually joining the Justice Society itself. He was also briefly affiliated with the Justice League. LEAVENWORTH - The United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in northeast Kansas. On Arrow, it was revealed that Leavenworth is where John Diggle is being held while awaiting his court martial. KRIEGER - There are basically two figures who could have inspired Baron Krieger, even though there is no specific Baron Krieger in DC Comics. The first is Baron Blitzkrieg: Originally a World War II German army officer, the man who would be Baron Blitzkrieg was blinded when a concentration camp prisoner threw acid into his face. German scientists experimented on him, giving him injections of experimental drugs which would give him incredible powers for brief periods of time. The other possibility is Albrecht Krieger, who was basically Captain America, but for Nazis. A genetically-modified super-soldier, Krieger also had a mad scientist brother and a psychic  sister we might have to worry about if it's him -- and while the backstory feels a lot more like Blitzkrieg's, Krieger has not only the name but the general look of this week's threat. MAX LORENZ - Max Lorenz was a famous singer, who lived in Germany around the time of World War II and is widely known as "Hitler's favorite tenor." Of course, it's a handy thing that Legends of Tomorrow star Victor Garber has the pipes to make that scene convincing. UBERMENSCH - It's worth noting that there are several references to "Übermensch" in here, which is derived from Nietzsche in Thus Spake Zarathustra, one of the influences for Superman, which is more or less what the word translates to directly. The term can literally translate to "Overman," which in the DC Comics universe is an alternate-universe version of Superman who lives on an Earth where the Nazis won World War II.REVERSE-FLASH - Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, may have something up his sleeve. At the end of The Flash's Season 3 premiere earlier this month, he said that while his future was as it should be, Barry's might not be. Barry then went home to discover a number of small anomalies that made his life and those of his friends worse. Now, we learn that "somebody" is outfitting the villains of history with future tech in order to push the world to a slightly worse place. Could Eobard Thawne have stepped right out of "Flashpoint" and into "Out of Time?" Either way, seeing him and Darhk together is enough to make seasoned Arrowverse fans quake in their boots even before they know the other members of Thawne's little Legion of Doom. ARROW NEWS THE CW RENEWS ARROW, FLASH, SUPERGIRL AND LEGENDS OF TOMORROW (Date: 08 Jan 2017) Renewal will bring “Arrow” to Season Six, “The Flash” to Season Four, and “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow” each to Season Three. Link:http://www.cbr.com/the-cw-renews-arrow-flash-supergirl-and-legends-of-tomorrow/   Laurel Lance's Return Is Further Teased In Synopsis For ARROW Season 5, Episode 10 (Date: 06 Jan 2017) OLIVER WANTS JUSTICE; FELICITY WANTS REVENGE — Worried that Prometheus is right and he is truly a killer at heart, Oliver (Stephen Amell) looks for any ray of hope and finds it in what seems to be the miraculous return of Laurel Lance (guest star Katie Cassidy). Guggenheim also teased that Felicity will a meet a few people in the back half of the season that are connected to her past. Additionally, he explained that Felicity's new, darker direction can't be blamed solely on Billy Malone's death. Rather, her experiences over the course of the show will culminate in her new attitude. “Billy was the final straw,” he said. “It's also the sum of the fact that Felicity has been living in this darker world for the last four-plus years now…. How has that affected her way of thinking about things?” He added that this will be directly addressed in Season 5 Episode 11. Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-the-calculator-is-not-returning-yet/    ARROW: Greg Berlanti Teases More Appearances From Laurel Lance Across The CW (Date: 10 Jan 2017) While it hasn't been confirmed 100%, it's a pretty safe bet that this Laurel is the evil Black Siren from Earth 2, who was originally introduced in The Flash last year. While her motivations remain unknown, Arrow producer Greg Berlanti has teased the character's involvement in more than just the events of Arrow's fifth season. “We made a deal at the end of [season 4] to bring her back for a bunch of episodes. Katie is a part of the fabric of the show. Because the show, like a comic book, can move in different ways, and characters go and come, everybody that's ever been a part of the key and core ensemble has always had a place at the table for our show. There's the capacity for her to be [in all four shows]. At this moment, she's in three of them.” Link:https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/arrow/arrow-greg-berlanti-teases-more-appearances-from-laurel-lance-across-a148060     ARROW EPS ADMIT IT'S HARD TO DO THE SHOW WITHOUT A BLACK CANARY (Date: 11 Jan 2017) Co-showrunner Wendy Mericle said, “Look, it's hard to do a show about Green Arrow without having a Black Canary. I don't know if it will happen this season or when, but… we are going to be true to origins in the DC universe, and she's always going to be there.” So far on the show, three characters have carried the Canary name: Sara Lance, Laurel Lance and Evelyn Sharp. After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Ray (Bradon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) realize that the Aberration has also affected them personally making it difficult to help the team.  Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team. Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Chris Fedak. Link: https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/legends_of_tomorrow/the-mystery-surrounding-rip-hunter-is-revealed-in-new-a147939 NEW LEGENDS OF TOMORROW EPS WILL STAR A WHOLE DIFFERENT RIP HUNTER (Date: 10 Jan 2017) The back half of season two kicks off on Tuesday, January 24 after the show's winter hiatus. That batch of episodes starts with an episode titled “Raiders of the Lost Art,” which guest stars a young George Lucas (or rather an actor named Matt Angel playing a young Lucas) and features the return of Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill). But Rip won't return the same as we previously knew him. Marc Guggenheim talked about the upcoming episodes and how the Spear of Destiny will impact the show. “The second half of the season is really paying off the Legion of Doom and what we now know is the MacGuffin of Season 2, the Spear of Destiny,” said Guggenheim. “Changing time is like painting with the biggest paintbrush possible; using the Spear of Destiny is like using a very, very fine-point technical pen.” Link: http://www.cbr.com/new-legends-of-tomorrow-eps-will-star-a-whole-different-rip-hunter/   The Girl Of Steel Visits Another World In Synopsis For Kevin Smith's Episode Of SUPERGIRL (Date: 05 Jan 2017) KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS — Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr's (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver's Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver's Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara's disappearance, fearing she's become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister. Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Eric Carrasco & Jess Kardos. When a criminal named Plunder (guest star Stephen Huszar) shows up in Central City, Barry recalls the villain's presence in his vision of the future and fears that if he catches Plunder, it will cement Iris' fate. Confused about Barry's hesitation to stop Plunder, Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) decides to step in as Kid Flash. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) offers Julian (Tom Felton) a job. According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, the two-part story will have lasting ramifications on both shows. According to Kreisberg. “When we get to the musical episodes, both Barry and Kara will find themselves at pivotal crossroads on their respective series, and the experience of going through the musical will have a great impact on both series moving forward.” Executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed the villain will indeed be the Music Meister, who can control people through song. What's more, the musical crossover will feature original songs and could include characters from any Earth or timeline in the “Arrow”-verse. No date has been announced for “The Flash”/”Supergirl” crossover. Link: http://www.cbr.com/supergirl-flash-musical-will-have-great-impact-on-both-shows/   DC COMICS' SOLOVAR ARRIVES IN FLASH'S TWO-PART GORILLA CITY STORY (Date: 09 Jan 2017) “The Flash” is taking a trip to Gorilla City in episodes 13 and 14 of season three. The series will also introduce a new telepathic gorilla straight from the comics, Solovar. Keith David will provide the voice of Solovar in the Gorilla Grodd-centric two-parter. David is a film and television veteran with a career spanning decades. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg announced the return of Grodd and Gorilla City during a presentation at the TCAs. Kreisberg also revealed that the two-parter will span multiple Earths. “One of the episodes will take place in Gorilla City [on Earth-2], and one of them will take place on Earth-1.” In the comics, Solovar — a psychic gorilla like Grodd — is the leader of Gorilla City. Under his rule, Gorilla City became a technological wonder. Solovar's involvement in “The Flash's” Grodd/Gorilla City two-parter makes sense considering that Solovar is Grodd's main rival (other than the Scarlet Speedster) in the comics. Link: http://www.cbr.com/dc-comics-solovar-arrives-in-flashs-two-part-gorilla-city-story/   BLACK FLASH TO RETURN ON ‘MULTIPLE' ARROWVERSE SERIES (Date: 08 Jan 2017) As expected, “The Flash” viewers haven't seen the last of Hunter “Zoom” Zolomon. However, when the character returns, it may not only be on that CW drama — and he may not be portrayed by Teddy Sears. Transformed by time wraiths into Black Flash and then pulled into the Speed Force in “The Flash's” Season Two finale, the villain will indeed race back into the Arrowverse.“I will say that you might be seeing him on multiple shows,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour. He didn't say which shows those are, or when fans can expect Black Flash's return. “[Black Flash] is a classic character. We have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him around,” he said. “There's something so scary about him, something even scarier than when he was just the man, because now it's now he is the Grim Reaper, he is the devil. How do you stop the devil? So it presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears.” Link: http://www.cbr.com/black-flash-to-return-on-multiple-arrowverse-series/    ‘Constantine' Back As Animated Series For CW Seed With Greg Berlanti Producing (Date: 08 Jan 2017) Constantine, which had a one-season run on NBC, will be back as an animated series for CW Seed. Five to six 10-minute episodes have been ordered. Matt Ryan, who starred in the live-action DC series, will voice the title character. However, we can see that the impish villain won't look anything like he does in the DC Comics source material, where he's traditionally depicted as an older, diminutive character. Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Ira Yarborough for 1944's “Superman” #30, Mister Mxyzptlk is a mischievous imp from the fifth dimension who delights in tormenting the Man of Steel. Link: http://www.cbr.com/supergirl-casts-peter-gadiot-as-mister-mxyzptlk/    THE CW HAS ‘NO PLANS' FOR A SUPERMAN SERIES (Date: 08 Jan 2017) “Tyler did a great job,” The CW President Mark Pedowitz said. “There's no plan to do a series. There are no plans at the moment for him to return [to ‘Supergirl']. If they wish to have him return, we'd love to have him.” Link: http://www.cbr.com/the-cw-has-no-plans-for-a-superman-series/   THE FLASH Will Weave Kid Flash, Killer Frost And Gypsy Story Arcs Into Remaining Season 3 Episodes (Date: 07 Jan 2017) Armed with that knowledge Barry and his allies will be frantically searching for ways to prepare for an inevitable second round with the God of Speed. As for the rest of Team Flash, the co-showrunner adds that Gypsy (played by the recently cast Jessica Camacho of Sleepy Hollow) will be playing an important adversarial role in Cisco's budding superhero career, Caitlin will continue to wrestle with her Killer Frost alter ego and Wally West will continue to fly off the handle and cause trouble as Kid Flash. We feature Jeff Gamet, Managing Editor for The Mac Observer. In addition to a brief pop culture segment where Gene schools Jeff on the correct pronunciation of the wacky DC Comics character, "Mister Mxyzptlk," the discussion focuses on the MacBook Pro and the controversy over the battery tests from Consumer Reports, in which Apple's notebooks were at first not recommended until retested. And what about all the great gadgets introduced at the CES in Las Vegas? According to Jeff, there were more products that appeared to be ready to sell, rather than to show off an idea that may never make it into production. You'll also hear from Russell Holly, managing editor of VRHeads. After a brief focus on smartphone sales, and whether the market can continue to grow quickly, the discussion moves to the upcoming Nintendo Switch gaming console. Nintendo is trying to get a leg up on the competition from Microsoft and Sony by including a small embedded tablet that can be used for gameplay on the road. You'll also hear about popular gadgets at the CES, but the main focus is Russell's special introduction to VR technology. Are those goggles poised to take over the consumer electronics market in a big way? What about shared experiences among more than a single player? Are there any downsides other than the relatively high price of admission for the best VR gear?

Felicity is awkward and cute when she helps Ollie find address (1852) Ollie:   Has he learned after all this time? Brings team to first fight w/Prometheus Goes alone when find Prometheus again - why? Adrian Chase Really wants Prometheus dealt with Puts kill order on Prometheus Susan Williams Ollie's date to the Christmas party Drinks Russian vodka Russian writing on the bottle is centered on screen, is this a hint? Tells Ollie shutting people out is not a good thing to do Has sexytimes with Ollie Laurel Is this due to Barry and Flashpoint? Or maybe due to Legends of Tomorrow where Sara revealed Damian's future so now he is travelling time to avert it. Bratva Not in episode Prometheus Leads? - A whole bunch At least 30 years old Justin Claybourne's son - ???? Seems too easy if this is the case Son not publicly known - mentioned in divorce papers Has studied Oliver for four years How does he(?) know that Ollie killed his father and studied fighting in Russia? When did he(?) find out all of this about Ollie? Is it Claybourne's son? Could it be someone else who just knows about what Ollie has done when he was The Hood and was working off of The List? Tied to The List He sounds like Michael Dorn to Chris (reddit seems to agree) Michelle's List O'Suspects: (I'm keeping this active until the mask comes off) Tommy Merlyn - Not likely now. In Ollie's Dementor vision as someone proud of Ollie New: Susan Williams - if the Claybourne son thing is a red herring; then it could be her; she is old enough, drinks Russian vodka, and has finally confirmed Ollie was in Russia. Maybe her real name isn't SW Robert Queen - too old? But is the author of The List. In Ollie's Dementor vision as someone proud of Ollie. New: It's actually Claybourne's son Adrian Chase (but more likely to become Vigilante) Billy Malone - dead Helena Bertinelli (but I would rather see her as either Huntress or head of the Bertinelli family) Isabel Rochev Mckenna Hall Shado - not Claybourne's child and not really connected to The List Slade Wilson - not tied to The List Talia al Ghul (see this week's news) New: Quentin Lance (likely a red herring) (in rehab) Roy - too young and in Ollie's Dementor vision as someone proud of Ollie; also, not really tied to The List Viktor (SP's add) - too old   CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES Season Episode  “What We Leave Behind” (Date: 08 Dec 2016) Article: http://comicbook.com/2016/12/08/arrow-easter-eggs-and-things-you-might-have-missed-in-the-season/      JUDAS CONTRACT - A young, female team member who is recruited into Team Arrow and then seduced to the dark side and ends up becoming a sleeper agent for the villain is pretty much exactly the plot to the classic New Teen Titans storyline The Judas Contract. OLIVER'S CHRISTMAS MOVIES - According to Stephen Amell's recent Facebook Live video, he shares Oliver's favorite Christmas movie (Die Hard) and the "Its true!" he delivered after saying so in the episode was actually a Stephen Amell-ism, not Oliver Queen's. His second choice, It's a Wonderful Life, is an interesting one considering..."I was very lucky to be able to rewatch that movie last week."...which of course is not a thing that happened. He was  subjected to a kind of custom-made It's a Wonderful Life, where the Dominators showed him a whole different timeline and how his life and the lives of those around him might be different if he had made different decisions. BIG BELLY BURGER - The mention is because the to-go bag for the DC Universe's favorite burger joint was the focus of a shot that hung on for a few seconds AND transitioned from the present day to the flashbacks. That's a lot of camera time for a fast food container. CLAYBOURNE - While Justin Claybourne's name did in fact appear on The List, we never saw him dealt with in season 1 and all of the scenes here that were calling back to the first year of the series were entirely new material. This, of course, opens up the question of whether we might see some more such stories in flashbacks for future episodes...! ALMOST EVERY WEDNESDAY - "People who are supposed to be dead turn out to be alive almost every Wednesday." Weirdly enough never during the summer or between mid-December and late January, though. THE HOOD - Oliver's season 1 costume, the kill list, the sets, the mission, his arguments with Diggle...this is what it was like when he was The Hood and not Green Arrow. THE RED PEN - The red pen is a nice callback to some of Felicity Smoak's earliest appearances, and that makes it worth breaking out to talk separately about "IT Girl Felicity," back when Oliver was still making up outlandish stories to get her help instead of just coming clean with her. AK DESMOND PHARMACEUTICAL - It seems worth noting, since Dr. Alchemy is such a big part of The Flash this season, that A.K. Desmond Pharmaceutical could plausibly be considered a wink-and-a-nod reference to Albert Desmond, a chemist who would go on to become Dr. Alchemy in the comics. Unlikely, but possible! MAKE THE CITY GREAT AGAIN - Obviously in his final moments, when Claybourne is trying to appeal to Oliver's ideas about "saving the city," he says that businesses like his can "make the city great again," which in the context of the last years' worth of public life feels suspiciously like a reference to Donald Trump's "make America great again" campaign slogan. ARROW NEWS:   ARROW FANS HAVE ALREADY SEEN SEASON 5'S FINAL SCENE — OR HAVE THEY? (Date: 05 Dec 2016) Now that “Arrow” has reached season five and has no plans of slowing down, the plan has changed slightly. As Guggenheim said, “Spoiler alert. That's (Ollie's rescue from Lian Yu) going to end up being the Season 5 finale.” Season five's flashback story arc will still end by replaying the first moments of the series, but there's now much more show to come after that moment in season six and beyond. But just because fans saw how season five will end five years ago doesn't mean there aren't surprises still ahead at the end of this season. Guggenheim added that the creators have “some incredibly clear plans for what we want to do in the Season 5 finale,” but that they always leave wiggle room for surprises and cliffhangers. Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-fans-have-already-seen-season-5s-final-scene-or-have-they/   Arrow's David Ramsey: "I Like The Idea Of Felicity Not Defining Herself Through Her Relationship With A Man" (Date: 04 Dec 2016) During the Arrow panel at the CCXP convention in Brazil, David Ramsey was asked to chime in on Olicity. "For me, I like the idea of Felicity not defining herself through her relationship with a man," Ramsey told the crowd. "I like the idea that she can be her own person, and she can be strong and feminine, own the company, without pining over men — Oliver or any other man." Amell said that tonight's script was the first in a long time that legitimately shocked him when he turned the page to that reveal. He also said that he was skeptical at first of the idea of bringing another character back from the dead, but that they're now several episodes down the line in production and that he thinks the story that comes out of it is a good one. Link:http://comicbook.com/2016/12/08/stephen-amell-addresses-the-big-twist-in-arrows-midseason-finale/   GENERAL DC TV NEWS Four-Night DC Crossover Gives The CW Its Most-Watched Week In Six Years (Date: 06 Dec 2016) The four-night DC superhero crossover event is certainly paying off big for the CW, pulling in 2.3 million viewers for its most-watched week in six years. For the week of November 28, the CW was up 20% in total viewers versus the same week last year, up 15% in adults 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.6) and up 16% in adults 18-34 (0.6 vs. 0.5), according to Nielsen stats. Supergirl had its most-watched (3.5M) episode of the season, and matched its season premiere ratings in both adults 18-34 (0.9/4) and adults 18-49 (1.1/4). The Flash saw its most-watched episode (4.15M) in almost two years (12/9/14) and its highest rated episode of the season. Arrow delivered the series' most watched (3.55M) and highest-rated episode since last season's crossover episode (12/2/15). And DC's Legends of Tomorrow had its most-watched episode ever (3.39M) and its highest-rated episode ever in adults 18-34 (1.0/5). More fun-loving prankster than straightforward villain, Mxyzptlk's fifth-dimensional technology appears as magic to three-dimensional beings; the limits of his powers are vast and unknown. Famously, he can only be stopped and returned to his home dimension by tricking him into saying his name backward (“Kltpzyxm”).   Link:http://www.cbr.com/mister-mxyzptlk-to-materialize-on-supergirl/    How “Supergirl” And A Super-Duper Gay Comic Book Clerk Helped Save A Girl's Life (Date: 04 Dec 2016) Mary, a “super-duper gay” employee at a comic book shop in Indiana, shared an encounter she had with a young woman. The girl said she was suicidal because she's gay, and she didn't realize gay women could be happy until she saw the Alex Danvers coming out arc on Supergirl. To help the girl out through the hiatus, the employees suggested  Batwoman: Elegy, Midnighter, and Gotham Central. The girl didn't have money for all of the titles, so the employee bought them for her. Link:http://www.newnownext.com/supergirl-lesbian-sanvers/12/2016/   Mark Hamill and John Wesley Shipp On the Biggest Surprises Reprising Their Roles on The Flash (Date: 06 Dec 2016) Interesting fact: Shipp starred in The Flash in 1990 and 1991, with Hamill as a recurring villain. While Hamill was filming Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a new TV version of The Flash was coming together. Three years later, against all odds, he and the producers have found a way for Hamill to make an appearance as James Jesse in each midseason finale so far. Link:http://comicbook.com/2016/12/07/mark-hamill-and-john-wesley-shipp-on-the-biggest-surprises-repri/   Supergirl Showrunners wanted to play with Shippers (Date: 3 Dec 2016) Producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed after a screening (h/t EW) that multiple moments with Kara were ultimately cut from the three episodes, including Sara asking out the Girl of Steel (and perhaps foreshadowing a future with Alex): There was a little exchange between Sara [Caity Lotz] and Kara [Melissa Benoist] that I really liked — I don't think we even filmed it — where Sara says, ‘Hey, do you want to get a drink when this is all over?' And Kara says, ‘I think you wanna meet my sister.' Just the idea of starting the Sara/Alex [Chyler Leigh] shippers going … Link:http://comicsalliance.com/supergirl-legends-crossover-deleted-scenes/ Fallout from the Superhero Crossover (Date: 3 Dec 2016) WILL SUPERGIRL VISIT EARTH-1 AGAIN? | Now that Kara has a way to communicate and travel across Earths, crossovers are certainly “easier” to execute, Kreisberg says. “The next time we do it, it means it doesn't necessarily have to be because Oliver and Barry need Kara; it could be because Kara needs them.” However, the EP notes that nothing is in the works, seeing as how “we just barely survived this one. So we're not too concerned with what we're going to try to do next year. But it just gives us another way to come at a story.” DOES THE WORLD KNOW ETs EXIST? | A line was cut for time, in which the G-man known as “Glasses” says, “‘Cover up what? A dozen weather satellites falling out of orbit?'” Guggenheim explains: “People see the ships, but no one ever really saw the Dominators. The way we're sort of playing it going forward is that Glasses is good at his job, and when he says he's going to cover it up, he's going to cover it up.” Adds Kreisberg: “There's a mention of it in The Flash, that the threat of aliens brought out all the crazies. But we're sort of Doctor Who-ing it.” Link:http://tvline.com/2016/12/01/legends-of-tomorrow-recap-season-2-episode-7-crossover-dominators-return/ GREEN ARROW COMICS & TOY NEWS X-MEN: GOLD AND BLUE ROSTERS AND CREATIVE TEAMS REVEALED (Date: 28 Nov 2016) X-Men: Gold will be written by Marc Guggenheim with art by Ardian Syaf. The phase-shifting Kitty Pryde at long-last will become an X-Men team leader, whose squad includes Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Old Man Logan, and Rachel Grey. “Kitty is the right person to bring the X-Men into the future, to herald in the next era of the X-Men,” Guggenheim told us in a phone interview. “We are post the war with the Inhumans. The X-Men are sort of at a crossroads. They're at a point where they are trying to decide, is there a future for the X-Men? And Kitty is very much of the mindset that there is a future for the X-Men and it's a bright future.”  Guggenheim is best known as co-showrunner and writer on The CW's Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow and previously worked on the adjectiveless X-Men book in 2014 featuring an all-female cast of characters. By now, you probably believe our podcast to be the result of some twisted dimensional experiment carried out by Mister Mxyzptlk, which is likely a lot closer to the truth than we'd want to believe. How else could we have convinced cosplayers Gordon Ferguson (ECC 2016 Cosplay Champion) and Paul Martin (Scotland's favourite Mando) to come on the show for a chat. Actually getting them on was one thing, but having them divulge their cosplay experiences, while chatting about stuff such as Arrival, Spiderman, Brian Michael Bendis, Kickstarter and Fantastic Beasts inside Doug's shed, well, that just twists your whole perception of reality.  FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com/herotalkrebirth/ TWITTER: www.twitter.com/HeroTalkRebirth
