As always, a great conversation with plenty of take homes for everyone interesting in living their best lives.Eric is a coach, athlete, author, and educator. A trainer since the early 2000's, he's worked in the US Air force, commercial gyms, private training studios, medical fitness and strength and conditioning facilities. As a part of 3DMJ he coaches drug free strength and physique competitors at all levels. Eric has competed since the mid 2000's in natural bodybuilding, unequipped powerlifting and dabbled in Olympic lifting. He earned pro status as a natural bodybuilder with the PNBA in 2011 and competes with the IPF at international level events as an unequipped powerlifter.Eric has published multiple peer reviewed articles in exercise science and nutrition journals and writes for commercial fitness publications. He's taught undergraduate and graduate level nutrition and exercise science and speaks internationally at academic and commercial conferences for fitness, nutrition and strength and conditioning. He has a BSc in fitness and wellness, an MSc in exercise science, a second masters in sports nutrition, a PhD in strength and conditioning, and is a research fellow for AUT at the Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand. He is a legend in the sport of natural bodybuilding and has been competing for decades. He's won the Natural Olympia in 2019, 2015, 2008, and 2007, and he's the reigning Men's Bodybuilding Grand Master's ChampionPhilip Ricardo Jr. was born in Rochester, New York, on July 29, 1971. He didn't always have the muscular and shredded physique he has now. As a kid, Ricardo Jr. was skinny and asthmatic. Despite those adversities, he played Pop-Warner football (favorite sport) in Brooklyn, New York. Philip Ricardo Jr. credits physical activity for relieving him of his asthma and allergies. At 13 years old, his father introduced him to weightlifting.  In 1985, his family moved to Illinois, where he played high school football. The weight training program there helped Ricardo Jr. see dramatic changes in his body. He was slim, lean, and muscular throughout high school. He enlisted in the Marine Corps upon graduating high school in 1989. After boot camp, he was stationed overseas in Iwakuni, Japan, where he worked out at the military base gym with veteran marines. Ricardo Jr.'s co-worker signed him up to compete in the Iwakuni Japan Marine Corps Based Bodybuilding Championships without his knowledge his second year overseas. Ricardo Jr. continued to compete in a few small competitions in Japan, then was stationed in San Diego, California. The NPC held military shows, and he saw success in these events.Later on, Philip Ricardo Jr. joined the American Bodybuilding Association (ABA) – a drug-free organization that is now known as the INBA PNBA. He competed against the best natural athletes globally with the ABA and had great success. He continued to compete with ABA and other federations to test his limits. Philip Ricardo Jr. turned pro in 2003 with the PNBA. Wir waren beide vor Ort, um unsere Athleten zu unterstützen und geben euch einen Einblick in die unserer Meinung nach beste Show der Season. Wir ziehen ein kurzes Fazit zu allen Shows, die wir in diesem Teil der Saison besucht haben und gehen dann im Detail eine sehr gut organisierte WM durch, die in sehr vielen Aspekten vieles von dem erfüllt hat, was wir uns unter einer guten Show vorstellen. Abläufe, Licht, Judging und andere Dinge waren hier wirklich auf einem hohen Niveau, aber am besten überzeugt ihr euch selbst und hört die Episode. In dieser Episode des „The Age Of Iron Podcasts” hatte ich die ganz besondere Ehre, den neuen Amateur Weltmeister der WNBF, Dirk Emmerich als Gast in der Show begrüßen zu dürfen. Dirk ist Naturalbodybuilding Wettkampfathlet, der im Jahr 2021 so einige Leute mit seinem professionellen Auftreten auf den deutschsprachigen Wettkämpfen überraschte. Bei so gut wie jedem deutschsprachigen Wettkampf konnte er eine Top Platzierung mitnehmen und um den Sieg beim Gesamtsiegerstecher mitkämpfen, was ihm allerdings in dieser Saison nicht gelungen ist. Zu seinem letzten Wettkampf hat er nochmal ordentlich Gas gegeben und sein Bühnenpaket auf ein neues Level gebracht, wodurch es ihm nicht nur gelungen ist Weltmeister, in seiner Klasse zu werden, sondern zusätzlich den Gesamtsieg der WNBF Worlds zu erkämpfen. Im Rahmen des Gespräches gehen wir auf die vergangene Wettkampfsaison ein. Zudem ermöglicht Dirk uns Einblicke in sein Training, Ernährung und vieles mehr. Alles in allem entstand eine sehr interessante Folge, die einen in der aktuellen Situation unglaublich anspornt, immer weiter zu machen.
