It just does often seem like social care for people with disabilities and the elderly in Sagamihara City and Kanagawa Prefecture as a whole, seems to suck. A Japanese district court on Thursday called on a family court to hear a case involving a 16-year-old boy charged with murdering his parents in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, last year. Takahira Yoshii, presiding judge at Yokohama District Court, said that educative and protective measures are appropriate for the boy. In response to the ‘Sagamihara Stabbings', Kanagawa Prefecture has set a goal of “realizing a society where we can live together,” placing emphasis on a shift away from welfare policies that require people with disabilities to spend their entire lives in facilities, and promoting a shift to community living. However, in reality, there are many cases where attempts to open group homes (GHs) have been met with opposition from residents and forced to abandon plans. “We won't let them do it unless everyone agrees.” At an information session for a GH for people with disabilities scheduled to open in Kanazawa Ward, Yokohama, residents repeatedly voiced their opposition. Shinya Tateiwa, a sociologist and professor at Ritsumeikan University, who was known for his essays on the disabled and euthanasia, including a critique of the murder case at a facility for people with disabilities in Sagamihara, passed away at 1:33 p.m. on July 31 at a hospital in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City due to a malignant lymphoma. He was 62 years old. Please forgive my bad pronunciation of the late Prof. Tateiwa's name, 'Tateiwa'. In the 'English tongue' it is best pronounced as 'Tateh-Ihwa', with the emphasis on the 'ihwa'. I find the name difficult to say. Episode Notes: https://barrierfreejapan.com/2023/08/01/shinya-tateiwa-sociologist-who-researched-people-with-disabilities-dies-aged-62/

I've been surrounded by incredible teammates, and really good coaches. And yeah, I feel very thankful for the experiences I've had so far. We've had some success in the Canadian Women's Eights and Fours. So it's been a fun program to be a part of. We spend around 10 minutes on each team, with a lot of attention given to Niigata, Matsumoto and Omiya. Enjoy the show - Part 3 (covering the rest of J2 sides, as well as newly-promoted Akita and Sagamihara) is coming soon! Mike on Twitter: @GoGoOmiyaArdija Jon on Twitter: @JTalkETJon

The vehicle, known as Starship SN8 ("Serial No. 8"), was scheduled to launch on an 8-mile-high (12.5 kilometers) test flight today (Dec. 8) from SpaceX's South Texas facility, near the Gulf Coast village of Boca Chica. And it nearly happened. But less than 2 seconds before liftoff, just after 5:30 p.m. EDT (2230 GMT and 4:30 p.m. local Texas time), SN8 detected something abnormal with one or more of its three Raptor engines and automatically aborted the flight. It's unclear at the moment when SN8 will get its next chance to fly; that depends on what caused the abort and how difficult it will be to fix. But there are launch windows available on both Wednesday and Thursday (Dec. 9 and Dec. 10), SpaceX representatives said. The Chang'e 5 lander set down on the lunar surface last Tuesday, Dec. 1. Thanks to China's prompt release of the stunning Chang'e 5 landing video, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) team were able to locate the roughly 4-ton spacecraft in Oceanus Procellarum, the "Ocean of Storms," and prepare for when LRO would pass overhead the next day. The image shows the Chang'e 5 lander in the center of three craters. Automated systems had helped the spacecraft avoid these hazards to land safely. The image was taken before the Chang'e 5 ascent vehicle blasted off from the surface with the collected samples. The ascent vehicle has since performed a spectacular rendezvous and docking with the Chang'e 5 orbiter and handed over the samples. Chang'e 5 will begin its journey to Earth later this week. Yeager's wife, Victoria, shared the news on Twitter, writing: "It is w/ profound sorrow, I must tell you that my life love General Chuck Yeager passed just before 9pm ET. An incredible life well lived, America's greatest Pilot, & a legacy of strength, adventure, & patriotism will be remembered forever." Yeager became the first person to break the sound barrier on Oct. 14, 1947, while flying the Bell X-1 rocket plane 45,000 feet (13,700 meters) over the Rogers Dry Lake in the Mojave Desert. During the flight, Yeager reached Mach 1.05, or 1.05 times the speed of sound. The aircraft, which he dubbed Glamorous Glennis after his first wife Glennis Yeager, who died in 1990. The Bell X-1 now hangs on display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Washington. Yeager would go on to fly even faster aircraft, including the Lockheed XF-104, which flew more than twice the speed of sound. His daring test flights were featured in Tom Wolfe's 1979 book "The Right Stuff" as well as the film adaptation and new Disney Plus series by the same name. EXPLAINER: What has Japanese space mission accomplished? Link: https://apnews.com/article/japan-space-mission-accomplish-explained-88e9a90bca3971bfe864aa94c01de7d4 A small capsule containing asteroid soil samples that was dropped from 136,700 miles (220,000 kilometers) in space by Japan's Hayabusa2 spacecraft landed as planned in the Australian Outback on Sunday. After a preliminary inspection, it will be flown to Japan for research. The extremely high precision required to carry out the mission thrilled many in Japan, who said they took pride in its success. The project's manager, Yuichi Tsuda of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, called the capsule a “treasure box.” Launched on Dec. 3, 2014, the unmanned Hayabusa2 spacecraft touched down twice on the asteroid Ryugu, more than 300 million kilometers (190 million miles) away from Earth. The asteroid's extremely rocky surface forced the mission's team to revise landing plans, but the spacecraft successfully collected data and soil samples during the 1½ years it spent near Ryugu after arriving there in June 2018. The pan-shaped capsule, about 40 centimeters (15 inches) in diameter, contains soil samples taken from two different sites on the asteroid. Some gases might also be embedded in the samples. The preliminary inspection at a lab in Australia was to extract and analyze the gas. The capsule is due to return to Japan on Tuesday. It will be taken to JAXA's research center in Sagamihara, near Tokyo. Scientists say the samples, especially ones taken from under the asteroid's surface, contain data from 4.6 billion years ago unaffected by space radiation and other environmental factors. They are particularly interested in studying organic materials in the samples to learn about how they are distributed in the solar system and if or how they are related to life on Earth. WHAT'S NEXT? About an hour after separating from the capsule at 220,000 kilometers (136,700 miles) from Earth, Hayabusa2 was sent on another mission to the smaller asteroid, 1998KY26. That is an 11-year journey one-way. The mission is to study possible ways to prevent big meteorites from colliding with Earth. We also delve into the larger social issues exposed because of this crime. As for the paranormal, Shann tells us about the local superstition of opening umbrellas indoors. If you're guilty about doing this… we advise you stop. If not… you might wake up with an umbrella on your chest. Shann also tells us more stories about her mother's third eye! Finally, Honda and Shann both describe a Japanese ghost while Chris attempts to draw it out. We'll be sharing it on Instagram so everyone can marvel at her masterpiece! Today we read a spell that I don't know what it means, really what it's for, and is about 2000 years older than the country I live in, and then we travel to Japan to read a letter from a lunatic who really, really, wants to kill disabled people.   The Ephesia Grammata is a supposedly a spell of protection but no one really knows. Details are scarce even though it predates Christ's birth by four centuries. With so many modern wiccans and other practitioners of magick around today, why it this spell fairly unknown? Is it too powerful for normal people?   Then we travel to Japan and the year 2016 where a 26 year old man thinks it's a good idea to write a letter to a politician detailing how much he wants to kill 470 disabled people. But after a brief stint in a mental ward, how far will Satoshi Uematsu go to make his letter a reality?   Links:   "State Of Emergency" - - This Is Not The Zombie Film You Were Waiting For, But It's Close. http://videovandals.blogspot.com/2013/05/state-of-emergency-this-is-not-zombie.html   Ephesia grammata https://www.themystica.com/ephesia-grammata/   Ephesia Grammata https://pomomagic.wordpress.com/2011/09/03/ephesia-grammata/   Ephesia Grammata https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ephesia_Grammata   The Ephesia Grammata in Popular Belief https://www.jstor.org/stable/282847?seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents   The Ephesian formula- old words of power for modern times… https://archetypicalwitchcraft.wordpress.com/tag/ephesian-grammata/   Satoshi Uematsu Letter http://badcripple.blogspot.com/2016/07/satoshi-uematsu-letter.html   Sagamihara Stabbings https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sagamihara_stabbings   Suspect in Sagamihara massacre planned second attack on same day https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/01/25/national/crime-legal/man-held-fatal-stabbings-19-sagamihara-care-facility-planned-second-attack-day/   Examining the motives behind mass murder in Japan https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2018/09/01/national/media-national/examining-motives-behind-mass-murder-japan/   Listen to the daily podcast anywhere you listen to podcasts!   ------------------------------------------------   Logo Art By Ash Black   http://www.DeadRabbit.com Email: DeadRabbitRadio@gmail.com Twitter: @JasonOCarpenter Facebook: www.Facebook.com/DeadRabbitRadio   Paranormal, Conspiracy, and True Crime news as it happens!
