By telling stories that matter, senior publicist and founder of RC Bonds Public Relations Randy C. Bonds hopes to increase awareness of under-exposed talents by helping them share their stories with the world. Randy has collaborated with a wide variety of celebrities, including actors and artists. Randy sits down with Ruben to talk about self love, self worth, authenticity, and his journey overcoming insecurities about his appearance and the value of his work.  “You always have to be your authentic self because the right people will be touched at the right time, and you'll never know the lives you're touching by genuinely being you.” - Randy C. Bonds Randy urges others to recognize their worth and value because he himself has previously struggled greatly in this area. Gradually over the last four years, Randy has changed his approach to business, himself, and others since deciding to fill his cup first before pouring into others and focusing exclusively on projects he truly believes in and feels aligned with.  “What's for me won't deplete me, it won't rob me, it won't take from me, it won't leave me on E, and leave me dry. What's for me, what aligns to me, will fill me up, and it will still be able to … benefit from me without causing me to … conform into something I'm not.” - Randy C. Bonds By operating his life and business in this way, he has enjoyed the most prosperous year of his life so far in 2022. Self-love, according to Randy, was the biggest lesson he learnt over the last year. As a result of his newfound ability to put himself first, he is now better able to support and be an advocate for others.  “I want to take care of myself now so that I can really live a long prosperous happy life. I don't want to just live and be able to say I was resilient and I was strong and I was these things. I want to say I was human. And so I wasn't perfect all the time, but I tried, and I learned, and I grew, and I loved, and I was loved.” - Randy C. In her weekly Coaching Tip, Elena provides insight on what it means to be vulnerable and highlights the benefits of emotional exposure. Blaine Heck discusses the complexities of fertility and pregnancy for women in the workplace, as well as the hurdles that must be overcome with a disability. What does “being vulnerable” actually mean? While conventional wisdom says being vulnerable is being exposed to the potential of physical or emotional harm, Elena gives her own thoughts, using an illustration from Brene Brown. Being vulnerable is actually all about the courage it takes to step into uncertainty, experience risk and to take a chance on emotional exposure. Deeper and richer connections are the reward.  In her interview segment, Elena speaks with Blaine Heck, Senior Publicist at Nardi Media. Blaine dives deep into her experiences with pregnancy and IVF, all while juggling challenges, workload and stress at the office. Together they discuss the culture of shame around miscarriages, and the surprising healing support of social media. While being pregnant does affect the work, full transparency and an awareness of how you are showing up go a long way in helping others understand your experience, and make room for it. Blaine also shares (and compares) her disability in the workplace, specifically dyslexia. She offers insightful advice to employers, namely, that those with disabilities are often more creative than you realize, and that the disability often gives the individual a heightened awareness elsewhere - you just need to be open-minded enough to find it. When it comes to the future of social justice, Tracy Lamourie demonstrates that there's more common ground than we realize. Oftentimes we are so focused on our own point of view that we don't fully consider another person's perspective. We spend a lot of time in our own bubbles, but when we can step out and consider another perspective, we might be surprised that we want the same end result. Tune in to see how you can see another perspective while staying true to yourself...

Carolina Borolla: Publicist Extraordinaire. There was no roadmap for Carolina's journey to where she is today -- she made her own way. When she didn't have answers (or really any information), she trusted herself to figure it out and find answers where there were only questions. For her, being a publicist is largely about being a storyteller which explains her drive to search for and identify the details that matter in all facets of her work. And while hardwork was certainly a large part of the equation in her success over the years, so, too, was this great passion for storytelling and music. As she says, “You're really helping someone do what they love by doing something that you love.” And while there are plenty of tough days, the experiences she's had over the years are ones she not only speaks of fondly but clearly will cherish forever.

She has landed top-tier hits for clients in Business Insider, Fast Company, USA Today, U.S. News & World Report and more. Fabiana enjoys sharing her expertise in communications strategies, public relations brand awareness and her thoughts on navigating the workforce with business and lifestyle media. She has provided tips for navigating the workforce to fellow millennials and Gen Z, shared insights on viral influencer campaigns and marketing trends in the hospitality and legal industries. She has been featured in Fast Company, Reader's Digest, Refinery29, ABA Journal, Fairy God Boss, Authority Magazine, Modern Restaurant Management, etc. She received her bachelor's degree in communication with an emphasis in public relations and advertising from St. Edward's University and holds a minor in Spanish sociolinguistics. In this episode, Fabiana talks about her frank approach to working with clients and with journalists. Instead of reaching out to journalists just for the story, Fabiana describes how she builds relationships with journalists through creating personal connections. Fabiana also describes her work with clients to share their genuine stance on diversity, equity, and inclusion and how important these topics are to public relations today. 2:40 – Fabiana shares how she initially went to college to be a forensic medical examiner but found her passion for PR. 6:07 – Fabiana describes her no BS approach to PR by always being honest with the client about strategy and the media cycle. 10:07 – In addition to the honest discussions she has with clients, Fabiana talks about the up-front conversations she has with journalists and how she builds relationships. 13:46 – Fabiana lists the different ways she connects with journalists. 20:38 – Fabiana defines diversity marketing and how to reach more diverse audiences. 22:12 – Fabiana describes the difference between advertising and PR and why she thinks PR will outlast advertising. 26:34 – Fabiana explains why diversity, equity, and inclusion are important in PR. 34:32 – Fabiana shares some resources that have helped her in her career.   Quote: “Publicists are connectors of people. That is one of the basic things we do aside from telling stories.
