In the book, "Carp," documents an Illini fan's journey. He is not afraid to say what's on his mind. It's refreshing to hear from someone who takes feedback and criticism from an obviously passionate fan base, the Illini community. U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi landed in Taiwan on Tuesday on a visit that could significantly escalate tensions with Beijing, which claims the self-ruled island as its own territory. The ticket, worth over $4.2 million dollars, was sold at the Vons grocery store on Cedar Avenue near Shepherd Avenue in northeast Fresno and matched 5 out of 6 numbers. The United Nations chief warned Monday that “humanity is just one misunderstanding, one miscalculation away from nuclear annihilation,” citing the war in Ukraine, nuclear threats in Asia and the Middle East and many other factors. Every year, the fins of as many as 73 million sharks are sliced from the backs of the majestic sea predators, their bleeding bodies sometimes dumped back into the ocean where they are left to suffocate or die of blood loss. There are certain U.S. cities that have consistently battled violent crime — particularly homicide — throughout the past three decades: Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, even New York City.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Many are unaware of the suffering that the delicacy "shark fin soup" causes to sharks, to human health, and to our ecosystem and humanity as a whole. Learn about it in today's episode by StopSharkFinning.net and posted at FishFeel.org.  Fish Feel is the first organization devoted to promoting the recognition of fish as sentient beings deserving of respect and compassion. Despite fish constituting the largest category of animals used for food (including as farmed animal feed), and despite huge numbers of fish harmed for research, “sport,” and aquaria, their well-being receives very little attention, even from the animal protection community. Fish Feel is an all-volunteer organization primarily serving to help educate the public as to why these animals are deserving of our admiration and appreciation, the immense problems caused by the exploitation of them, and how we can help them. The US government passed a bill that will ban the sale and/or purchase of shark fins in the United States. There is more to the bill than a shark fin ban, which will address in a second. The shark fin ban has had some controversy over the past years where some shark scientists have spoken out on the policy as punishing sustainable shark fishers who fish for sharks legally in the US. The ban of fin sales will effectively leave them out of the equation. Not everyone thinks the ban is bad. In fact, a number of conservationists and scientists think that the ban of sales/purchases of shark fins in the US will help protect sharks in the future.  An additional benefit of the bill is that it includes measures to address fisheries slavery and illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing of imported seafood.  This addition provides regulations for companies that import seafood to ensure the seafood is sustainable.  Link To Article: https://usa.oceana.org/press-releases/senate-passes-ban-us-shark-fin-trade-world-oceans-day Check out all of our episodes on www.speakupforblue.com Tune into Earthx TV Wednesday and Thursday at 7pm ET for Live Shows of Speak Up for the Ocean Blue Podcast: https://earthxtv.com/ Want To Talk Oceans? Scientific superhero Diego talks about finding Mako shark in pet food, being in the room with illegal smugglers, giving authorities the ability to test shark fins for DNA and the general struggle of upholding the law when it comes to sharks. Columbian born Diego is not only the brains and brawn behind so many papers in regards to the fin trade and the collecting of samples on the ground, but was also behind the groundbreaking science featured in the Sharkwater Extinction film through the genetic identification of threatened shark species in pet food and beauty care products. In this podcast, he talks to me about the effects of Covid-19 on the shark fin trade, what it's like to live in China for a year collecting shark fins and how his work is revolutionizing the way we find illegal trafficking of shark fins from protected species. This particular podcast is a must-listen for anyone questioning their involvement in science VS conservation and anyone that needs to be inspired by the movements occurring to save the most threatened of the shark species.  Diego IG Handle https://www.instagram.com/diegocardenosa/Diego's Scientific Research https://conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/conl.12780-Get in touch! Here’s another episode to mark the halfway point of this season. In this episode, you will hear newer songs as well as older. Hard-hitting tracks are abundant in this hour, making this mix the roughest in Club Soda history. It can be compared to Episodes 6-10: Season Finale, 8-2A: Sector A, and 8-2B: Sector B. There are some songs that are Top 40, but remixed in this style, such as “Can’t Feel My Face” and “Latch”. There are also older songs mixed in too, like “Sweet Dreams” by La Bouche and “All I Wanna Do” by Sheryl Crow. Revivals are spotted here too (from Season 1, 2, and 6), which is actually something I’m hinting towards the future of the Club Soda podcast series. I hope you all enjoy this rigid, edgy episode! “Bounce (Extended Mix)” by Calvin Harris f./ Kelis “Bounce (Extended Mix)” by Iggy Azalea “On The Floor (Marc & Svejda Club Mix)” by Jennifer Lopez f./ Pitbull “Someone Who Can Dance” by Icona Pop “Can’t Feel My Face (Bounce Bootleg)” by The Weeknd “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt Like A... Radio D Series 1 | Learning German | Deutsche Welle

Paula and Philipp solve the mystery of the shark sighting and once again uncover a fraud. However, the reason for the staged incident is unclear at first. While looking for the missing surfer, Paula and Philipp meet a diver and discover a clue. With a shark fin on his back, the diver had scared half of Hamburg. But why? Meanwhile, Eulalia has shown up in Hamburg ready to help. She's made a discovery, too. Eulalia just found a clue that might help Paula and Philipp -- a perfect opportunity to use the perfect tense. Pay close attention to forming the past participle.

This powerful film portrays the tragic decimation of sharks and shark populations by humans and the shark fin industry. Underwater filmmaker and conservationist Shawn Heinrichs juxtaposes beautiful images of lush tropical marine settings with the all-too-common scene below the surface of dead sharks littering the bottom, their fins cut off to feed an insatiable market for shark fin. Shark populations have dropped 90 percent in areas due to this unsustainable practice, threatening the very survival of numerous species of sharks, and disrupting fragile ecosystems worldwide. For more information on Shawn Heinrichs, his videos and his conservation work, please visit his website, BlueSphereMedia.com. Shawn is a conservation forum moderator at Wetpixel.com, and a regular contributor to the video forums.
