$TSLA TX opened yesterday with BIG news that should provide more catalyst for the stock. The big news: 1) Will operate on huge scale - I talk about Ron Barron's analysis on stamping cars together and how Tesla is revolutionizing car manufacturing 2) Will push FSD to all North America 3) Will begin production push for new products (ie - CyberTruck, Semi and Roadster) $TWTR - a day after this speech, Musk will address all Twitter staff. There are obviously concerns with some key employees for this to happen. $HD and $LOW look to be on the bounce. I've got alerts on them and will let others know when they are a buy, but they have been beaten down. HEALTHCARE - 2 mainstays in your portfolio should be $UNH and $ABBV - both stocks are currently VERY strong and I would suggest waiting for buy in - but I have not bought in for a while and regret it. You can't win them all. SHIPPERS - $UPS $ZIM $DAC $EGLE - these all are currently swinging down and I've got alerts on them. All are bouncing down, but I believe they will recover. Alerts have been set. HYPE PLAY - $MRNA - with China shutting down their cities, Covid BA2 spreading throughout the rest of the world, boosters now and a potential Omicron vaccine - this will bounce back before earnings. Alerts have been set but I believe this one goes back to $170 from here - it just hasn't bottomed out yet. $UPST - I think this one also could bounce back around earnings. Alert has been set. $SHOP - this has been disappointing and sorry for leading you in. This week it will be down (first time in it's history for the week), but the month has a 100% win rate too. I would hold on here if you still hold. If you set your stop loss at 5% (like I usually do) at least you have a lower buy in now for a positive month end ... fingers crossed. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dailystockpick/support

Just a few months after beginning their initial partnership in the Bay Area in October 2021, the companies are expanding their collaboration so that drivers across the U.S. will soon have access to Wallbox's discounted EV charging package. “Helping drivers go electric is a crucial part of our plan to get to zero-emissions by 2030 in the U.S.,” states Andrew Macdonald, Uber's senior vice president of mobility and business operations. “This partnership with Wallbox helps drivers by making it more affordable and accessible to charge their EVs, and we're excited to give more drivers the chance to take advantage of it.” The partnership is being supported by an Uber program that makes drivers of fully electric vehicles (EV) eligible for a zero emissions incentive, so they can earn an extra $1 on every Uber trip (up to $4,000 annually). https://ngtnews.com/uber-wallbox-roll-out-additional-collaborations-for-ev-chargers-across-the-u-s TESLA FACTORY FIRE IN FREMONT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION A fire ignited outside the Tesla plant in Fremont where pallets of cardboard debris went up in flames, according to the Fremont Fire Department. The fire led the Fremont department to request neighboring firefighters to help extinguish the blaze before the fire was knocked down. In March 2021, molten aluminum and hydraulic fluid caused a fire in a construction site on the Tesla campus. There were no reports of injuries in that fire either. https://www.ktvu.com/news/tesla-factory-fire-in-fremont-is-under-investigation Fremont Fire Department on Twitter: "Firefighters are at the scene of a 2-alarm fire at the Tesla Factory (45500 Fremont Blvd). No reports of injuries.  Photos from the 2-alarm outside fire at the Tesla Factory (45500 Fremont Blvd). The fire is knocked down. No reports of injuries. GM believed that allowing employees to charge EVs for free while on the job would encourage EV adoption as GM transitions to an all-EV lineup by 2035. But the pandemic escalated and many salaried workers went home to work and have not returned as COVID rages on. Many companies are taking a long-term view that people will return to office sites and  adoption of EVs will grow in future years — therefore the chargers will be used. FLO, which is based in Quebec, started shipping chargers to GM last October. It has shipped 495 Level 2 chargers to date and 18 DC fast chargers to GM's facilities in Detroit, Warren and Flint as well as to GM facilities in other states When GM said it would add 3,500 new electric vehicle charging stations across its facilities by 2025, it had about 918 chargers already installed across various GM campuses in North America. GM's research at the time, which was early 2020, said drivers are "six times more likely to drive an EV" if they can charge it at their workplace. https://eu.freep.com/story/money/cars/general-motors/2022/02/02/gm-keeps-installing-ev-chargers-its-sites-even-workers-stay-remote/9232478002/ LAW WOULD REQUIRE NEW BUILDINGS TO HAVE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATIONS | ADVANTAGENEWS.COM Some home builders say it is too soon to require new Illinois buildings to have designated parking spaces for electronic vehicle (EV) charging. House Bill 3125, sponsored by Rep. Robyn Gabel, D-Evanston, has advanced through the House Energy and Environment Committee. The bill would require newly constructed buildings to set aside a certain number of parking spaces with the capability to meet wiring requirements for electric vehicles. Dean Graven, president of the Home Builders Association of Illinois, told The Center Square that it is too soon to require specific wiring for mandated EV chargers. Graven said. Many different EV manufacturers are producing electric vehicles – all with distinctive charging requirements. At this juncture, mandating that builders install wiring does not make sense, Graven said. “We have no idea how many amps will be needed,” he said. “If we put something in, will it be enough? Will it be too much? They are going to have to have an electrician come back and change everything out again.” The situation reminds Graven of the 1980s, when VHS and Betamax were duking it out to be the dominant video recorder. What will the car market look like in 10 or 15 years, he said? No one knows. Toyota, one of the largest vehicle manufacturers in the world, has said they are prioritizing hydrogen cell technology over electric, Graven said. “Hydrogen is the one element in the universe that there is more of than anything else,” Graven said. “So, could that happen to us? We're all EV, and then in 10 years, hydrogen comes along?” https://www.advantagenews.com/news/law-would-require-new-buildings-to-have-electric-vehicle-charging-stations/article_49475cf6-81d4-11ec-af70-9b85941d4175.html LAW WOULD MAKE PARKING IN EV CHARGING SPOTS A TRAFFIC INFRACTION - GREATER GREATER WASHINGTON https://ggwash.org/view/83673/virginia-law-would-make-parking-in-ev-spots-a-traffic-infraction-for-drivers-of-gas-powered-vehicles ISRAELI BUS OPERATORS MUST BUY ONLY ELECTRIC BUSES BY 2026 - ELECTRIVE.COM https://www.electrive.com/2022/02/02/israeli-bus-operators-must-buy-only-electric-buses-by-2026/ EVS TO POWER KENYA'S BUS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM | TECHCRUNCH https://techcrunch.com/2022/02/02/evs-to-power-kenyas-bus-rapid-transit-system/ ELECTRIC VEHICLE OWNERS SAY NEW HAWAII TAX SINGLES THEM OUT | LOCAL | KITV.COM https://www.kitv.com/news/local/electric-vehicle-owners-say-new-hawaii-tax-singles-them-out/article_759f55aa-8400-11ec-a270-2fb0e58019d5.html DETAILS ON LATEST BYD HAN EV LEAKED, RANGE INCREASED TO 715 KM – PANDAILY https://pandaily.com/details-on-latest-byd-han-ev-leaked-range-increased-to-715-km/ THE HYUNDAI IONIQ ELECTRIC HAS THE BEST MOT PASS RATE FOR AN ELECTRIC CAR IN THE UK | CARSCOOPS   https://www.carscoops.com/2022/02/the-hyundai-ioniq-electric-has-the-best-mot-pass-rate-for-an-ev-in-the-uk/ SCANIA TO SUPPLY 5 BATTERY-ELECTRIC VEHICLES AND 1.6 MW OF CHARGING EQUIPMENT https://www.scania.com/group/en/home/newsroom/press-releases/press-release-detail-page.html/4174375-scania-to-supply-5-battery-electric-vehicles-and-1-6-mw-of-charging-equipment-to-swedish-haulier-for ASIAN PETROLHEAD TAKES GENESIS G80 ELECTRIC SEDAN OUT IN THE SNOW https://insideevs.com/news/565051/asian-petrolhead-genesisg80electrified-snow-review/ QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM I'm taking a break this weekend so won't have the time on Saturday and Sunday to do this, it's back next week. Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Friday 15th October. It's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they've built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. BMW READY FOR ANY BAN ON FOSSIL FUELS "Germany's BMW (BMWG.DE) will be ready for any ban on internal combustion engine (ICE) cars from 2030 onwards with an offering of electric vehicles, Chief Executive Officer Oliver Zipse said on Tuesday." according to Reuters: "The EU has proposed an effective ban on fossil fuel cars from 2035 as part of a broader package of measures to combat global warming. Unlike rivals including Volkswagen and General Motors, BMW has not set an end date for production of ICE cars." Oliver Zipse: "We will be ICE-ban ready. If a region, a city, a country gets the idea of banning ICEs, we have an offering. The BMW Group is not worried about this. Whether it's a good idea is another question... but we will have an offering." Osprey are using the 75kW chargers, Gridserve too. I like the 50kW units used by Mer and Pod Point. They'll do Plug & Charge. A number of EV owners went out for drives during National Day earlier this month without realizing there were not enough charging facilities along the highway, as per the report. Li said electric vehicle adoption is taking place at a quick pace this year, ahead of expectations. The electric automaker said it has accelerated the construction of battery swap stations as well as supercharging stations this year." There are now 12 rapid chargers per 100,000 people, compared to a UK average of nearly seven, while across all charging types Scotland is second only to London across the whole of the UK with 47 devices for every 100,000." reports Fleet News: "The Scottish Government has invested more than £45 million to develop the ChargePlace Scotland Network, which provides more than 1,900 public charge points across Scotland." The tests, with results released Wednesday, aimed simulate abuse and damage to its prototype solid-state battery cells. Those cells use a sulfide-based solid electrolyte in place of the liquid or gel used in conventional lithium-ion cells." writes Green Car Reports: "When fully-charged test cells were punctured by a conductive nail, the only change was a slight increase in temperature, Soild Power said in a press release. The nail penetration test produced no flames or venting of material from the cells, the company claims. In other tests, cells were overcharged to 200%, and were also caused to short circuit, again with no serious issues, according to Solid Power. . It also claims to have achieved a cell lifespan of 1,000 cycles with greater than 80% capacity retention. With small pouch cells so far, the next step will be to scale up to the larger format pouch cells that some automakers are shifting to." https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1133863_ford-bmw-solid-power-demonstrates-safety-solid-state-battery-tech *ad break* U.S. REGULATOR QUESTIONS TESLA ON THE LACK OF A RECALL AFTER AN UPDATE TO AUTOPILOT. "The top federal auto safety regulator sent two letters to Tesla this week raising questions about the company's driver-assistance software systems and instructing the carmaker to provide fuller information." reports New York Times: "The regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is looking into why Tesla did not issue a recall last month when it updated software called Autopilot to improve its ability to spot stopped emergency vehicles such as police cars and fire trucks. The agency also ordered Tesla to provide data about the software that the company calls Full Self-Driving and expressed concern that Tesla may be preventing customers from sharing safety information with the agency." https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/10/13/business/news-business-stock-market TESLA APP HINTS AT REMOTE LIVE VIEW FROM AUTOPILOT CAMERAS "Tesla has released a new mobile app update with a few new small features, but it also shows that the automaker has made some progress toward delivering a remote live view from Autopilot cameras on your car." writes electrek.co: "The new update, v4.2, introduces new bigger widgets to iOS and some new Powerwall features. Improvements to larger iOS widget to include quick controls...Solar and Powerwall supports Tesla-maintained utility rate plans. Utility rate plans now support seasons, multiple peak periods, and buy & sell energy prices...Powerwall's Time-Based Control mode supports the updated rate plans to more accurately use energy from Powerwall when power is expensive and charge from other sources when power is at its cheapest. Some of the code suggests that Tesla is working to give access to the feed from four cameras out of the eight cameras around the vehicle – one on each side:" https://electrek.co/2021/10/14/tesla-app-update-widgets-powerwall-features-remote-live-view-autopilot-cameras/ TESLA MODEL S PLAID WITH ACTIVE AERO CAUGHT TESTING AT THE NÜRBURGRING "For all of its supercar performance, the Tesla Model S Plaid doesn't really have much of the performance technology we expect from a supercar. The most obvious example is that hallmark of modern supercardom, active aerodynamics. But that might be changing." says CarScoops: " spy photographers caught a Tesla Model S Plaid lapping the Nürburgring with a retractable wing that also changed its angle throughout the lap. Seen here changing its pitch from one shot to the next, it would appear that Tesla is looking for higher cornering speeds.  The Plaid+ was supposed to get 1,100 hp, a range of more than 520 miles (837 km), and faster acceleration. Just ahead of Plaid's debut, though, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to announce that it was so good that the Plaid+ had been canceled." According to the company's website, another location is coming nearby and it will be equipped with 56 stalls (V3 250 kW). That would increase the total output in the area to 96. According to supercharge.info, bigger stations in the U.S. are at the Harris Ranch (80 stalls), Central Santa Monica (62 stalls) and Firebaugh (56 stalls) - all three in California and both with V3 250 kW chargers. The largest stations in China are in Shanghai with 72 and 64 stalls, but the power is limited to respectively 120 kW and 145 kW." HARLINGEN, Texas - Michael Reeser says the next Tesla factory training center could be built in Harlingen. The chancellor and CEO of Texas State Technical College spoke about the possibilities of the Rio Grande Valley being attractive to Tesla at a recent breakfast event held at TSTC in Harlingen.“Tesla is growing like weed in Texas. They are selling more and more units all the time. And we are beginning to rival California and Florida in terms of Tesla automobiles,” Reeser explained.“So, Tesla, about two years ago came to Texas and started looking around because they needed a higher ed partner to set up their factory training centers for their technicians. And what they needed was a host with a robust automotive offering who could see the longterm vision of electric vehicles in our industry.”Reeser said that after interviewing countless colleges across the state, Tesla picked TSTC to be their education partner in the state of Texas. “So, their very first factory training center was in Waco. They picked it because it is centrally located. The second one is in Houston. It is under construction right now and it will be finished in January,” Tesla said.“And, I predict and we have talked to them about it, your next one needs to be in Harlingen, where we already have a robust automotive program. So, the point is, Tesla looked at everyone and they picked us up.”The tie-up with Tesla is just one of the partnerships TSTC has developed. Reeser also mentioned the FAME program run by the National Association of Manufacturing and NIMS, otherwise known as the National Institute for Metalworking Skills. And he mentioned a productive tie-up with Texas A&M University.Editor's Note: To read the full story, go to the Rio Grande Guardian International News Service website.

It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to.   Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   Hello to a new Executive Producer ADRIAN BOND.   GM PLEDGES TO STOP SELLING COMBUSTION-POWERED CARS BY 2035 "It’s one thing for the state of California to announce that it will no longer allow the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035. It’s quite another when an automaker announces essentially the same thing. Today, General Motors CEO Mary Barra unveiled the automaker’s proposal to make GM a net-zero-carbon company. That means phasing out of light-duty vehicles that run on gasoline and diesel by 2035." reports CAr & Driver: "The plan is to stop the production of gas-powered light-duty vehicles by 2035 and transition completely to electric vehicles to eliminate tailpipe emissions. It’ll be a transition that will take 14 years and, as time progresses, many of your favorite GM vehicles will switch from gasoline to electricity—yes, even the Corvette (or whatever GM decides to call it in the future"   https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a35352321/gm-eliminate-gas-vehicles-2035/   "This is part of a larger goal to be carbon neutral globally by 2040 for both vehicles and operations." says Motor1 on Yahoo: "GM says that vehicles currently account for 75 percent of the automaker's carbon emissions. By 2025, the company intends EVs to comprise 40 percent of its models in the United States, and there would be 30 electric products available globally. It's worth noting that GM repeatedly uses the term "light-duty vehicles" in this announcement. This leaves things open for heavy-duty models like the Silverado 2500 and 3500 trucks to remain combustion-powered after 2035."   https://uk.news.yahoo.com/gm-pledges-stop-selling-combustion-150000347.html   "G.M. has had a love-hate relationship with electric cars going back decades, but under Ms. Barra, who took over in 2014, it has inched its way toward a full embrace of the technology." writes the New York Times: "When Mr. Trump was president, Ms. Barra told him that the Obama-era rules were too hard on manufacturers, requiring them to sell passenger vehicles that averaged 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. Mr. Trump relaxed the standards to roughly 40 miles per gallon, which would require no new technology — and would have allowed the emission of nearly a billion more tons of heat-trapping carbon dioxide. On his first day in office, Mr. Biden signed an executive order directing the Environmental Protection Agency to immediately begin developing tough new tailpipe pollution regulations"   https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/29/business/general-motors-electric-cars.html   And according to TechCrunch: "GM’s also getting into the charging business too. The company said it would work with “governments, partners, and suppliers around the world to build out the necessary charging infrastructure and encourage the use of renewable energy in electric vehicle charging.”"   https://techcrunch.com/2021/01/28/gm-pledges-to-be-carbon-neutral-by-2040-with-zero-tailpipe-emission-vehicles-by-2035/   Mary Barra said: "with these actions, General Motors is joining governments and companies around the globe working to establish a safer, greener and better world. We believe that with our scale and reach we can encourage others to follow suit and make a significant impact on our industry and on the economy as a whole. While electric vehicles do not produce tailpipe emissions, it is critical that the impact associated with production and charging is incorporated in our plans. By working with utility companies to provide access to more renewable energy sources, GM hopes to address the entire production cycle of future EVs, with benefits that will extend far beyond our own vehicles and operations"   Fortune featured her as an underrated CEO: "Last spring, GM was making PPE for health care workers; by fall, it was posting healthy profits."   User Ben Serrurier tweet: "I appreciate all the enthusiasm around the GM's announcement of EV "aspirations" but like two months ago they were suing to stop California's clean car standards so maybe some caution is advised here? If GM thought on Nov 22, 2020 that CA shouldn't allowed to increase the number EVs through clean car rules, but now they think they need to go all EV by  2035...that's a pretty dramatic change in corporate strategy in ~70 days?"   @benserrurier     FORD TO START BUILDING ELECTRIC MUSTANGS IN CHINA "Ford is to start building its iconic Mustang cars in China for the first time. The US carmaker said its Mustang Mach-E will start being produced there later this year as it looks to tap into China's electric vehicle (EV) market" says BBC News: "Ford is also hoping to capitalise on China's economic recovery and the Chinese government's push for more electric cars on its roads. The new electric-powered Mustang is a sports utility vehicle (SUV), seen as a chance to reverse years of sluggish sales in China and connect with customers by producing them locally. Mustang sports cars have so far only been available in China as costly imports. Ford launched its first made-in-China Lincoln vehicles in March last year, but the brand remains a minor player in the Chinese market compared with its premium rivals."   https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55838413   HYUNDAI Q4 PROFIT JUMPS AS SUVS AND EVS TO FUEL CHINA, U.S. SALES " Hyundai said on Tuesday it expects sales in United States and China to surge this year, driven by the launch of new electric cars and sports utility vehicles, after reporting its best quarterly profit in over three years." according to Autoblog: "The promising outlook is a testament to Hyundai's big electric vehicle push. The company, which together with affiliate Kia is among the world's top 10 automakers, is soon expected to introduce an EV-only platform that will use its own battery technology to cut time and costs. Hyundai, however, did not provide on its earnings call any update on recently reported talks between it and Apple about an electric car and battery tie-up. On sales, the automaker said it expects a 12% jump in its biggest market, North America, in 2021. Hyundai said it expects sales to jump 28% in China, the world's top car market where it also plans to release the electric version of its Mistra sedan this year."   https://www.autoblog.com/2021/01/26/hyundai-quarterly-profit/   NEW GENESIS EV MODEL NAMES REVEALED "Turns out Hyundai's luxury division Genesis is also planning an EV onslaught. We recently caught Genesis testing a new electric crossover that will rival the Tesla Model Y, and now trademark filings have possibly confirmed the names of the automaker's new battery-electric models." reports CArBuzz: "As discovered by GV Forums, Hyundai has filed trademarks for the following model names in Korea: "G70e", "G80e", "G90e", "GV70e", "GV80e" and "GV90e," suggesting that Genesis intends to electrify its entire current lineup. Another revelation is the GV90e name filing since Genesis currently doesn't build a GV90 SUV."   https://carbuzz.com/news/leaked-new-genesis-ev-model-names-revealed   TESLA PRODUCTION SITES BY MODEL ASSIGNMENT, CAPACITY: JANUARY 2021 Tesla Factory in Fremont, California - up to 600,000/year Tesla Giga Shanghai (Gigafactory 3) in China - up to 450,000/year. The Model 3 production already was at more than 5,000 a week Tesla Giga Berlin (Gigafactory 4) in Germany.  An important part in Tesla's Q4 report is that Model Y produced in Berlin and Austin will get Tesla's in-house cells and structural batteries. Tesla Giga Texas (Gigafactory 5) in the U.S. - . It's scheduled to produce Model Y and Cybertruck, but the Semi seems to be unassigned still.   ELECTRIC CARS ARE TAKING OVER NORWAY "The market share of battery-powered cars in Norway reached 54,30% in 2020. With a 42% share in 2019, electric cars have officially crossed the 50% threshold for a whole year. Norway is the #1 country in the world in terms of electric car sales. The Audi e-tron (an electric passenger vehicle) was the most sold car in Norway in 2020. This is the third year electric cars were the best-selling; the Tesla Model 3 was first in 2019 and the Nissan LEAF in 2018." says Norway Today: "Unni Berge, Head of Communication and PR of the Norwegian Electric Car Association said; "The Norwegian success story is first and foremost due to a substantial package of incentives developed to promote zero-emission vehicles into the market. In Norway, we have high taxes for high emission cars and no purchase taxes zero-emission cars. But the biggest challenge is to build enough fast chargers fast enough"   https://norwaytoday.info/news/electric-cars-are-taking-over-norway-the-biggest-challenge-is-to-build-enough-fast-chargers-fast-enough/   RAPID CHARGERS AT PREMIERE INNS "ENGIE will deliver 1,000 50kW rapid chargers to Premier Inn hotels around the UK. This will be the biggest roll-out of high-power EV chargers in the hospitality sector. " says Green Car Reports: "Whitbread – owner of the Premier Inn hotels, as well as Beefeater and Brewers’ Fayre restaurants – has appointed ENGIE to install these GeniePoint chargers. Currently, there are 600 committed across 300 hotels over the next three years. Access to these charging points will be for guests, as well as the public through the GeniePoint Network."   https://www.nextgreencar.com/news/9077/youll-soon-be-able-to-charge-your-car-at-premier-inn-hotels/   QUESTION OF THE WEEK   ADRIAN BOND What is the minimum?  I’m sure many will agree that pre-cool/heat is a must, and the timer setting for it.  State of charge and start/stop charging has proven to be a useful function as well.   What would be nice?  Smart device connection.  Such as you can do for bulbs, plugs, the central-heating (Hive) and the TV.  Imagine: “Alexa, heat the car”, “Google, what‘s the car’s state of charge?”, and it would allow the car to connect to a cost of electricity tracker app, such as for an agile tariff.     MARK FROM MAINE At the bare minimum, I want my iPhone and Apple Watch BE they key as it were. I don’t want to be carrying around keys, and I would want the car to lock unlock based on my proximity to the car, rather than having to open the app to get in to. My secondary priorities would be charging controls, current charge status, and preconditioning.   IAIN SEAR Must haves... Route Planning/Scheduling Location Tracker Battery State/Warming Climate Control/Defrost View all security cameras Charging Scheduling Charging shaping e.g. Max draw, Max charge Lock/Unlock (Not just bluetooth)   Nice to have... Intercom to driver Service Schedules Manual Repair/Dealer/Service booking Battery control V2G   Dream... In this episode of Silicon Valley Insider, Keith Koo’s two guests are Ruben Merre, CEO of NGRAVE out of Belgium who discusses how to keep your cryptocurrencies secure and Mayor Lily Mei of Fremont, California who discusses the decision to re-open the Tesla factory. In the first part of the show, Keith and Ruben discuss how there is a resurgence of interest in people learning about cryptocurrency due to concerns over the pandemic and fear of global “money printing”. They go over the concept of centralized vs decentralized platforms and how that is relevant to blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Ruben reviews how to safeguard your digital assets and discusses NGRAVE’s approach to securing these assets such as cryptocurrencies. They also discuss the concept of “true” ownership when it comes to digital identity and digital assets and how you can have 100% certainty of what you truly own. On this week’s Cyber-Tip, Keith talks about a new security flaw affecting Windows, Apple and Linux machines based on Intel’s Thunderbolt architecture. The show ends with a special appearance by Mayor Lily Mei who gives an insight into the decision to re-open Tesla factory and how state, county and city officials worked together with Tesla to come up with a solution and how other companies can follow suit. Show #773   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Saturday 9th May 2020. ELON DECLARES TESLA TO LEAVE CALIFORNIA Tesla Soap Opera 1: California county tells Tesla it 'must not reopen' its car factory "Local county health officials say Tesla Inc "must not reopen" its vehicle factory in the San Francisco Bay area, as local lockdown measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus remain in effect." reports Autoblog: "The comments on Friday came after Tesla's chief executive, Elon Musk, told employees Thursday that limited production would restart Friday afternoon at the factory in Fremont, Tesla's only U.S. vehicle factory. Earlier on Friday, Erica Pan, a health officer for the county, said the department has had many discussions with the company and recommended that Tesla wait at least another week to monitor infection rates and discuss safe ways to resume production. Pan, speaking during a virtual townhall with the mayor of the city of Alameda, called Tesla a "very hot topic.""   Tesla Soap Opera 2: Then Tesla published a blog post laying out their side of the argument: “Tesla is the last major carmaker remaining in California, and the largest manufacturing employer in the State with more than 10,000 employees at our Fremont factory and 20,000 statewide. We understand the impacts COVID-19 has caused and have a responsibility to look out for the livelihoods and safety of our personnel, many of whom rely on us and have been out of work for weeks due to the impacts of shelter-in-place orders.”   Tesla Soap Opera 3: @elonmusk Tesla is filing a lawsuit against Alameda County immediately. The unelected & ignorant “Interim Health Officer” of Alameda is acting contrary to the Governor, the President, our Constitutional freedoms & just plain common sense!   @elonmusk Frankly, this is the final straw. Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependen on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA.   Tesla Soap Opera 4: CNBC then reported: "A public information officer for Alameda County Public Health Department offered more details in a statement: “We have informed Tesla of all of the conditions that must exist for phasing in the safe reopening of various sectors of the economy and the community. All businesses within the County must comply with the May 4th Health Officer Order and if a business does not meet the limited criteria stated in that Order to reopen, then they are out of compliance. “Tesla has been informed that they do not meet those criteria and must not reopen. We welcome Tesla’s proactive work on a reopening plan so that once they fit the criteria to reopen, they can do so in a way that protects their employees and the community at large.”"     Tesla Soap Opera 5: Mayor of Fremont, Lily Mei, published a statement in support of Musk’s intentions.   “As the local shelter-in-place order continues without provisions for major manufacturing activity, such as Tesla, to resume, I am growing concerned about the potential implications for our regional economy.  We know many essential businesses have proven they can successfully operate using strict safety and social distancing practices.  I strongly believe these same practices could be possible for other manufacturing businesses, especially those that are so critical to our employment base. The City encourages the County to engage with our local businesses to come up with acceptable guidelines for re-opening our local economy.  As we have done for over a decade, the City is prepared to support Tesla as soon as they are able to resume automobile manufacturing operations and are committed to a thoughtful, balanced approach to this effort that remains safe for our Fremont community.”   Tesla Soap Opera 6: The lawsuit: From TechCrunch: "Tesla filed a lawsuit Saturday against Alameda County in an effort to invalidate orders that have prevented the automaker from reopening its factory in Fremont, California. The lawsuit, which seeks injunctive and declaratory relief against Alameda County, was first reported by CNBC. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for California's Northern District.  The lawsuit argues that by preventing Tesla from opening, the Alameda County is going against its own guidance.  "Alameda County has expressly recognized and publicized that “businesses may . . . operate to manufacture” batteries and electric vehicles," the complaint reads. "Inexplicably, however, the Third Order as well as County officials have simultaneously insisted that Tesla must remain shuttered, thereby further compounding the ambiguity, confusion and irrationality surrounding Alameda County’s position as to whether Tesla may resume manufacturing activities at its Fremont Factory and elsewhere in the County."   Tesla Soap Opera 7: And finally: A California State assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez tweeted "F--- Elon Musk" on Saturday night, hours after the Tesla CEO announced was considering moving his company out of the state amid ongoing lockdown restrictions.   GM EVS FULL SPEED AHEAD DESPITE CHEAP GAS AND RELAXED EMISSIONS "General Motors outperformed all expectations in the first quarter of 2020, posting $300 million in income on $32.7 billion in revenue. The results were discussed during the recent GM Q1 2020 earnings call, during which GM CEO Mary Barra discussed a number of things – including the company’s commitment to future GM EVs." reports GM Authority: "During the call, Credit Suisse analyst Dan Levy asked Barra about upcoming GM EVs, noting that the current environment of low gas prices and relaxed emissions regulations could make the case for pulling back on electric vehicle investment. However, Barra’s response indicated that it’s full speed ahead when it comes to electric vehicles. “Our commitment is unwavering,” Barra responded. “We think it’s the right path forward and we think with the Ultium battery platform that we have, the partnership we have with Honda, the strength we have from China where EVs and new energy vehicles are a key part of being successful in that market, positions us extremely well to have a leadership position in EVs with a full range of EV vehicles.”"   Cadillac Lyriq crossover and GMC Hummer pickup were still on track.   https://gmauthority.com/blog/2020/05/gm-evs-full-speed-ahead-despite-cheap-gas-and-relaxed-emissions/   ARCFOX ALPHA-T SETS ENERGY DENSITY RECORD FOR EV BATTERIES "With a very impressive figure of 194,12 Wh/kg, the ARCFOX α-T now holds the record of having the most energy dense battery in a mass-produced electric car. The NCM 811 battery cells made by SK Innovation are very impressive and we’ll soon see them powering other electric cars." says PushEVs: "It’s curious that electric cars such as ARCFOX α-T, BYD Han EV and Xpeng P7 made by Chinese automakers seem to be the best alternatives to Tesla so far. Years ago we might have thought that German premium automakers would be the first to produce good alternatives. Anyway, Chinese electric cars have come a long way since the old BYD e6 launched in 2009, they are no longer super slow and inefficient. From now on, I will pay more attention to Chinese electric cars, some of which will end up being sold worldwide."   https://pushevs.com/2020/05/09/arcfox-alpha-t-sets-energy-density-record-for-ev-batteries/   BOB LUTZ: TESLA IS DOOMED AND HERE IS WHY "Bob Lutz, a former top leader of Ford, Chrysler and GM, is very skeptical and sometimes also derisive about Tesla. He's been this way for years." says InsideEVs, who have listed out the reasons Bobby thinks Tesla is doomed:   they will fail, because of the "continued lack of profitability", "stocks gonna tank" and it will be difficult to raise more cash, especially if Elon Musk will undermine investor confidence "All they have are some good-looking electric cars that sell below cost" Tesla doesn't have unique technology, they are using the same lithium-ion technology as everybody else Every other manufacturer will introduce a 300+ mile electric car on the market (there will be no advantage) zero-emission credits as a source of revenues (in the U.S.) and in Europe (deal with FCA) will dry too Other manufacturers are forced to produce a certain amount of EVs, so they will do it, even at a loss, and then recoup the cost on conventional models (this is a major factor behind the rising prices on crossovers/SUVs and full-size pickups). For Tesla, it's a lot of EV competition. Another problem is too many employees at the plants (in particular at the Tesla Factory - currently closed) The vertical integration is wrong, as you not only spend precious capital instead of ordering stuff from suppliers, but also will be required to keep investing to stay competitive with external suppliers of the rest of the industry     QUESTION OF THE WEEK   …we take a break for a week and QotW is back on Sunday 10th May   I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the 230 patrons of this podcast whose generosity means I get to keep making this show, which aims to entertain and inform thousands of listeners every day about a brighter future. 5 ways to be creative in solitude   “Here in my solitude, I have the feeling that I contain too much humanity” Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman   There is a Secret or secrets to become creative while being secluded    Pain has proven to be good for Art. We are all artists, some of us need to understand or figure out a way to harness these feelings to generate Art.   If you are feeling pain, lack, discomfort, fear, anxiety, these feelings, these emotions will help you contract your artistic qualities.   Some folks believe that artists should seek out turbulent times while others believe that it is the turbulent times that fuel the art.    Either way, these times we are in today are certainly both.    This time is forcing a lot of people to face things they would normally run from because the majority of day to day distractions are no longer there.   This time, more than any is an opportunity to go within, heal, ask yourself meaningful questions about your life, your path, your behavior and make changes.    Step away from the news, from what the world is trying to force feed you. Open your mind, heal yourself, get to know yourself, get creative do something new and express yourself.   Solitude itself is like an open canvas. It can be and often is the source of true creativity and self expression.   If ever you were waiting on a time to develop, learn, grow and exploit the Art and creativity that lay within you. Now is the time.     The most visionary people in this world have been in solitude, found a place to get into flow state:    Examples:   Edison - Menlo Park Musk - Sleeping at Tesla plant Tesla - Factory in IL. Solitude in the mind, would develop an invention to the point of when it came time to physically create it, it was simply a matter of placing the pieces together.  Leonardo DiVinci - Would spend weeks at a time with his thoughts, in pastures studying wild animals, the way the wind interacted with the pressure of the wings of birds to understand flight, would pay close intense attention to the way light hit objects and casted shadows.  Be prepared for these things to happen.  If you share what you plan to be doing during these times, some, even your friends may How to Shift from Beta to Alpha - What this means for creativity  Here is why making this “Separation Season” finding those gifts and abilities and running wild with them during these times is a necessity.    Four steps to switch from B --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/davidharleyjr/support

Tesla will be suspending production at these factories from March 24 to April 7. However, it’s possible that local authorities might extend their “shelter-in-place” orders for longer and it could take longer for Tesla to resume production. There’s massive economic cost to these moves by the government. However, it’s these same health officials who failed us by not securing early coronavirus testing in January and February. And it’s the same health officials who pass these extreme business bans without fully considering who’s going to pay for the massive economic destruction that results. Hundreds and thousands of businesses are suffering, employees not getting paid, and many losing their jobs. The whole fabric of our society is being shaken. We need a comprehensive, smart plan that looks and learns from other countries (ie., like those in Asia) who have been more successful than us in mitigating the spread of the coronavirus virus in their societies. We need to consider targeted shelter-in-place orders for the elderly and vulnerable while providing them with services from certified safe provides. And we need to implement health protocols for business so they can continue to operate while mitigating the spread of the virus. Businesses ought to test employees, check temperatures daily upon entry, require use of masks, practice social distancing and have ample sanitary equipment on hand. We can’t just react to emotionalism or to surface-level analysis. We need to look to the core of the problem and find a comprehensive, smart, and wise solution. Show #526   Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Friday 12th July 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time.             Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   Three new producers of the podcast! MIKHAIL GROZOVSK,  GLEN SUTTON and GUDJON HUGBERG BJORNSSON   FORD USE VW'S ELECTRIC CAR PLATFORM Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG today announced they are expanding their global alliance to include electric vehicles – and will collaborate with Argo AI to in-troduce autonomous vehicle technology in the U.S. and Europe Ford will become the first additional automaker to use Volkswagen’s dedicated electric vehicle architecture and Modular Electric Toolkit – or MEB – to deliver a high-volume zero-emission vehicle in Europe starting in 2023.   Ford expects to deliver more than 600,000 European vehicles using the MEB architecture over six years, with a second all-new Ford model for European customers under discussion. This supports Ford’s European strategy, which involves continuing to play on its strengths – including commercial vehicles, compelling crossovers and imported iconic vehicles such as Mustang and Explorer.   Volkswagen started developing its MEB architecture in 2016, investing approximately $7 billion in this platform. The car-maker is planning to use this platform to build approximately 15 million cars for the Volkswagen Group alone in the next decade.   For Ford, using Volkswagen’s MEB architecture is part of its more than $11.5 billion investment in electric vehicles worldwide – and supports Ford’s commitment to offer its European customers a broad range of electric vehicles while meeting its sustainability commitments.   TESLA’S (TSLA) Q2 2019 EARNINGS CALL WITH ELON MUSK SET FOR JULY 24 "Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has announced that it would be posting its financial results for Q2 2019 after the market closes on Wednesday, July 24, 2019." reports Simon for TEslarati: "The company would be issuing a brief advisory with a link to its Q2 2019 Update Letter, which will be accessible from Tesla’s Investor Relations website. A live Q&A session is set for 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time (5:30 p.m. Eastern Time) to discuss the electric car and energy company’s financial results and outlook."   https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-tsla-momentum-q1-earnings-call-date-rivals-hit-roadblocks/   TESLA SUPPLIER HINTS AT DOUBLING PARTS PRODUCTION FOR MODEL 3 "precision stamping service provider China FineBlanking Technology (CFTC) - one of Tesla's suppliers from China, will reportedly double its monthly shipments for components of relays used in the Tesla Model 3 from 20,000 to 40,000 as early as August 2019." says InsideEVs: "Assuming that Tesla is able to produce on average around 5,500 Model 3 per week (up to around 7,000 peak) in California and is gearing up for 3,000 per week in China (starting with low-volume in Q4), the Tesla Factory in California would need to increase production significantly maybe to around 7,000+ per week and 90,000+ per quarter (more at peaks)."   https://insideevs.com/news/359426/tesla-supplier-doubling-parts-production-model-3/   TESLA MODEL S BEATS CHEVY, TOYOTA, AND CADILLAC FOR ULTIMATE CAR OF THE YEAR HONORS MotorTrend have crowned their ultimate car of the year. "The selection and judging criteria have changed, the trophies have changed, and the vehicles most certainly have changed, but the spirit behind the Car of the Year is the same today as it was in 1949: Identify the most superlative new vehicle introduced each year." they say: "We are confident that, were we to summon all the judges and staff of the past 70 years, we would come to a rapid consensus: No vehicle we've awarded, be it Car of the Year, Import Car of the Year, SUV of the Year, or Truck of the Year, can equal the impact, performance, and engineering excellence that is our Ultimate Car of the Year winner, the 2013 Tesla Model S."   "The mere fact the Tesla Model S exists at all is a testament to innovation and entrepreneurship, the very qualities that once made the American automobile industry the largest, richest, and most powerful in the world," we wrote. "That the 11 judges unanimously voted the first vehicle designed from the wheels up by a fledgling automaker the 2013 MotorTrend Car of the Year should be cause for celebration. America can still make things." And still, the better part of a decade later, there isn't an electric car that can travel as far as a Model S, nor is there a street-legal production car of any motivation that can beat a Ludicrous Model S to 60 mph, not even a Ferrari LaFerrari or Porsche 918. Meanwhile, Tesla remains among the front-runners of advanced driver assistance technology; Autopilot and Autosteer were both unveiled on the Model S."   https://www.motortrend.com/news/2013-tesla-model-s-beats-chevy-toyota-cadillac-ultimate-car-of-the-year/   ELECTRIFY AMERICA TO PROVIDE HARLEY-DAVIDSON LIVEWIRE OWNERS WITH NATIONWIDE CHARGING Electrify America today announced an agreement with Harley-Davidson to provide owners of its first all-electric motorcycle, The Harley-Davidson LiveWire with the per minute equivalent of 500 kilowatt-hours of complimentary charging over two years at Electrify America stations nationwide.   LiveWire motorcycle customers who purchase models manufactured between August 2019 and July 2021 can enroll and manage their charging plan through the newly launched Electrify America mobile app, available for both Android and iPhone. Harley-Davidson customers will be able to take advantage of Electrify America’s network of ultra-fast EV chargers across highway and metro charging stations planned in 42 states and the District of Columbia.   BMW IX3 ELECTRIC SUV RUMORED TO BE REAR-WHEEL DRIVE IN U.S. "BMW hasn't been too secretive about the arrival of its newest artillery of electric vehicles. In fact, the Bavarian automaker has sent official spy photos of the iX3 – a concept that was introduced in 2018 but now confirmed for production next year – together with two other EVs i4 and iNext." reports Motor1.com: "BMWBlog got a bit more information about the all-new electric crossover. According to its source, the iX3 is based on the G08 platform, which underpins the long-wheelbase X3. Even better, the iX3 will allegedly have a rear-wheel-drive configuration in the United States. BMWBlog also got the supposed moniker of the iX3 – sDrive75, with "75" representing the 75 kWh capacity of its battery pack. Production of the iX3 will be in China and will be exported globally from there, including the U.S."   https://www.motor1.com/news/359613/bmw-ix3-rear-wheel-drive-us/   SECOND-GENERATION NISSAN LEAF LANDS IN AUSTRALIA "The new Nissan LEAF (the 40 kWh version) finally makes its way to Australia, where it will be sold from August 1, 2019 at 89 dealers" says InsideEVs: "To streamline the EV sales, Nissan decided to offer only a single high-spec grade, available from $49,990 AUD ($34,950) plus on-road costs. Stephen Lester, Nissan Australia managing director said that the company is expecting to see a spike in EV sales in Australia."   https://insideevs.com/news/359462/second-generation-nissan-leaf-lands-australia/   LG CHEM CONSIDERING BUILDING SECOND U.S. EV BATTERY PLANT "LG Chem is considering building a second U.S. factory, three people familiar with the matter said, accelerating a race to add capacity to meet growing global demand for green vehicles." according to NDTV.com: "LG Chem, one of the leading EV battery makers in the world that counts General Motors and Volkswagen among its customers, is weighing investing about 2 trillion won ($1.70 billion) in the plant that could begin production in 2022, one of the people said. Kentucky and Tennessee are among the candidates for the plant's site, the person said. A decision on the plant's site is expected to be made by the end of this month."   https://auto.ndtv.com/news/lg-chem-considering-building-second-u-s-ev-battery-plant-2068950   ELECTRIC CARS ARE DIFFICULT TO LIVE WITH ACCORDING TO JAGUAR BOSS Rawdon Glover, UK managing director for Jaguar: “I’d like to see a faster roll-out of infrastructure in terms of scale, of course, especially in light of the government’s stated Road to Zero ambitions, but I also think there need to be steps to make what we have today more usable. I’m not finger-pointing: it’s clear that we have a role to play in that, as well as the Government and the incumbent suppliers. But we have to make it easier to live with electric cars, from ensuring geographical coverage to raising standards so that charge points always work to introducing a system where you can have one card – ideally your credit card – to pay wherever you are.  Having so many providers, each with their own payment systems that you need to sign up to in their own unique way, presents an unnecessary hurdle. There needs to be leadership from the Government that we can all get behind.”   https://insideevs.com/news/359330/jaguar-director-ev-still-not-easy/       Send me your EV questions: hello@evnewsdaily or use social media. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too.   FREMONT FACTORY BEING PREPPED FOR TESLA MODEL Y PRODUCTION, MODEL S REFRESH "Tesla is expected to produce the new Model Y at the Fremont factory according to a CNBC report" says CNBC: "Tesla officially hasn't announced where it will produce the Model Y. The automaker says it's considering both the Tesla Factory in California and Gigafactory in Nevada. Because Model Y shares a lot of parts with the Model 3, Fremont could be a wise choice, although the factory is getting cramped. Unofficial sources say that Tesla "has barely begun to place orders for new equipment to manufacture the Model Y. In 2019, Tesla would like to deliver at least 360,000 cars, compared to around 245,000 in 2018."   https://insideevs.com/news/352061/fremont-tesla-model-y-production-model-s-refresh/   TESLA HAS CATCHING UP TO DO "Tesla Inc has “a lot of catching up” to do in order to achieve a record quarter, news website Electrek reported on Wednesday, citing Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk’s leaked email to employees." says REuters: "“While our demand is strong, we have a lot of vehicle deliveries to catch up to in order to have a successful quarter,” Musk wrote in the mail. “We also need to address the total cost of getting a car from our factory to the customer. Last quarter, there were many expedites fees and routing inefficiencies that led to higher than expected delivery costs. This makes it much harder for to* break even. “Per my earlier email, if we execute well, Q2 will be an all-time record for Tesla vehicle deliveries and an awesome victory!!”   https://electrek.co/2019/05/29/tesla-demand-deliveries-catch-up-record-quarter-elon-musk-leaked-email/   EV CHARGING SITES OUTNUMBER PETROL STATIONS FOR FIRST TIME "New figures from Zap-Map reveal the extent of the UK’s electric vehicle revolution, with the number of public charging locations now surpassing petrol stations for the first time. Data from Zap-Map shows that as of 22 May, there are 8,471 charging locations across the UK, hosting a total of 13,613 charging devices. In contrast, as of the end of April, there are currently only 8,400 petrol stations in the UK, a figure which is continuing to decline. There has been huge growth in the UK public EV charge point market in the past 12 months, with the number of locations increasing 57% in that time.   https://www.zap-map.com/ev-charging-sites-outnumber-petrol-stations-for-first-time/   CHINA-MADE TESLA MODEL 3 PRICE ANNOUNCEMENT EXPECTED ON FRIDAY "Bloomberg reports that Tesla is expected to announce prices of the China-made base Tesla Model 3 on Friday, May 31." reports InsideEVs: "The base Model 3 will be produced at the Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai, which allows it to avoid the 15% import tax and catch onto Chinese subsidies for New Energy Vehicles. Currently, the cheapest Model 3 in China starts at 377,000 yuan (≈$54,542). Bloomberg says that the new price could be 300,000-350,000 yuan (≈$43,400-50,634) before subsidies. The pricing announcement could be related to the surprise scheduled for May 31, but as everyone knows the Model 3 produced locally will be cheaper than imported, it's hard to say what the surprise really will be."   https://insideevs.com/news/351910/china-made-tesla-model-3-price/   GM PLANS OWN LARGE EV CHARGING NETWORK "GM confirmed today that it plans to its own large electric car charging network with thousands of fast-charging stations in the US, but the automaker apparently can’t be bothered to invest in it itself." writes Fred for Electrek: "The American automaker confirmed today that it is teaming up with Bechtel, the largest construction company in the US, “to build thousands of electric vehicle fast-charging stations” across the United States as part of a new charging network."   CNN reports: "The American automaker confirmed today that it is teaming up with Bechtel, the largest construction company in the US, “to build thousands of electric vehicle fast-charging stations” across the United States as part of a new charging network. Neither company plans to put money into this project, though. The two companies will create a separate corporation to build the charging network and other companies are being invited to invest in it. Neither GM nor Bechtel would name potential investors while discussions are still ongoing.”"   https://electrek.co/2019/05/28/gm-ev-charging-network/   ROLEC, EV.ENERGY UNVEIL NEW SMART CHARGER AND MOBILE APP UK: "Rolec EV is launching a new range of smart home EV chargers that allow drivers to manage charging through an app. The EV HomeSmart chargers will be integrated with the EV.Energy cloud-based backend, and are eligible under Office for Low Emission Vehicles' (OLEV) grant scheme." reports Current NEws: "Drivers will be able to programme the charger to charge at specific times, with the EV.Energy app also integrating with a homeowner's electricity provider to charge at the cheapest rate. Charging history will be available to see through the app, including live charging status, electricity used in kWh, energy costs and carbon savings. The chargers are enabled at speeds of 3.6kW or 7.2kW and are being launched as part of the WallPod EV charging portfolio. It’s the second addition to the portfolio announced this month, with a range of solar powered chargers also being launched."   https://www.current-news.co.uk/news/rolec-ev-energy-unveil-new-smart-charger-and-mobile-app   TESLA MODEL 3 GETS CERTIFIED IN AUSTRALIA, ORDERS SHOULD OPEN SOON CleanTEchnica says: "On Friday, Tesla received notification from the Australian Government that the company’s application to sell Model 3’s in Australia was approved. From looking at the application, Tesla only applied for the 1726 kg and 1856 kg weights, which correspond to the Long Range Rear Wheel Drive, Long Range All Wheel Drive, and Performance All Wheel Drive models, so the Standard Range and Standard Range Plus won’t be coming to Australia right yet — probably in a few months after they work through the backlog of orders for the higher-end models."   USED EV PRICES INCREASE IN UK "Prices of second-hand electric and hybrid vehicles are soaring as demand outstrips supply" says InsideEVs: "electric vehicles - also known as EVs - are rocketing in value, with prices growing 11 percent. In contrast, the average price growth rate for all vehicles has slowed to 1.5 percent - the lowest rate for almost two years."   KIA RELEASES REVISED NIRO HYBRID MODELS IN EUROPE "Kia has now started selling the revised versions of the Niro Hybrid and the Niro Plug-in Hybrid that they presented at the Geneva Motor Show." reports electrive.com: "The 2020 models of the two hybrid models can be ordered in the UK from 1 July, where prices start at £24,590 for the Niro Hybrid and £31,945 for the Niro Plug-in Hybrid. The cosmetic changes to Kia’s hybrid models include a revamping of the interior and exterior designs so that the hybrids look more like the fully-electric e-Niro.   In Germany, prices start at 26,990 Euro (Niro Hybrid) or 33,990 Euro (Niro Plug-in Hybrid) and will be available from dealers at the end of July."     COMMUNITY And thanks to MYEV.com they’ve set us another Question Of The Week.
