Und zu guter Letzt berichtet Daniel von seinem doch eher pannenreichen Wiedersehen mit STAR WARS: EPISODE 3 - DIE RACHE DER SITH, was aber wohl dennoch ein richtiges Happy End hatte. Als kleine Randnotiz sei noch erwähnt: Am Sonntag kommt noch eine Besprechung zu ANDOR mit Andi und BJÖRN BETON (FETTES BROT), deswegen fällt das heute hier etwas kürzer aus. On the 244th episode of Piecing It Together, Pete Abeyta returns to the podcast to talk about Robert Eggers' latest, The Northman (out now on Peacock). A brutal Viking epic starring Alexander Skarsgard that was one of my most awaited movies of the year, and it did not disappoint. Puzzle pieces include Valhalla Rising, Conan The Barbarian, The Green Knight and Gladiator.

Non, si nous décidons de revenir sur cette civilisation et sa présence dans l'imaginaire cinématographique, c'est parce qu'avec son 3e film, l'Américain Robert Eggers signe peut-être le film de viking le plus marquant et le plus important depuis VALHALLA RISING. Tentons de comprendre de quelle manière cette culture boréale a fasciné les cinéastes, de la grande fresque hollywoodienne de Richard Fleischer LES VIKINGS sorti en 1958, à THE NORTHMAN de Robert Eggers en passant par le 13e GUERRIER de John McTiernan sorti en 1999 et VALHALLA RISING de Nicolas Winding Refn qui date de 2009. Tällä kertaa arvostelussa Robert Eggersin kolmas pitkä elokuva The Northman. Elokuva on sitä taattua Eggers laatua, eli hyvin taiteellinen ja erikoinen, joskin todella näyttävä tekele. Tällä kertaa taustalla on myös isompi studio ja enemmän rahaa ja se näkyy, mutta samalla katoaa hieman se pienimuotoisuus ja läheinen tunne mitä Lighthousessa nähtiin. Toki nämä elokuvat ovatkin täysin erilaisia. Nykyään kun Eggers tekee uuden elokuvan odottaa sitä moni innolla, eikä ihme, sillä sen verran herkullisia elokuvia mies tekee. Tällä kertaa kyseessä on siis viikinki kosto tarina, joka muistuttaa hieman elokuvaa Valhalla Rising tai Gladiaattoria, mutta on silti todella erilainen. Elokuvassa on nätisti otettua asioita eri viikinki mytologioista ja taruista ja Alexander Skarsgård on mahtava pääroolissa. Ja mikä tärkeintä hän näyttää viikinki soturilta, kiitos ruotsalaisten sukujuuriensa. Ja onhan leffassa tähtiä vaikka ja kuinka.
