They soon find themselves enmeshed in a murder mystery involving Humphrey Bogart's legendary noir film The Big Sleep. When one of the stars winds up dead, Kevin and Greg's knowledge of random trivia might be the key to solving this Hollywood caper.    Shinick says, “Between the two of us, Greg and I have hosted a number of game shows. As a result, we have a lot of random trivia floating around in our heads and I always wished I could put that knowledge to better use other than just, “Hey, did you know the singular of spaghetti it spaghetto?” And since we both played fake detectives on Carmen Sandiego (me a time traveling detective and Greg a classic gumshoe detective) I got to wondering how we might fare with an actual murder? The ultimate question being, “Are hosts really smart? Or do they just have the answers?” Lee adds, “The premise of two fake detective game show hosts from the 1990's having to solve a series of real murders in the 1940's seemed like a novel idea so we thought we might be onto something. Now, thanks to Kevin's amazing talent writing comic books and our combined experience with game show shenanigans I get to star alongside my pal in Host Mortem! Which involves time travel, film noir, game show trivia and lots of comedy because, spoiler alert, we're not as good at solving murders as we think.   Jace is joined by Kevin to talk about the project, his love of film noir and the impetus of the project with Greg Lee. Today on Too Opinionated, we chat with actress Abby Trott!  After getting her start in voiceover while living in Japan, Trott has made a name for herself in the anime genre. She is perhaps best known as the English dub voice of the female lead Nezuko Kamado in the wildly popular series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. After her family is murdered by the demon Muzan Kibutsuji and Nezuko is turned into a demon herself, her only surviving brother Tanjiro sets off on a mission to turn his sister back into a human. Throughout the journey, Nezuko's incredible strength and resilience becomes clear as she is able to resist the temptation of human blood and step out into the sunlight. Her special abilities draw the attention of Muzan, who is determined to get Nezuko and acquire her unique power for himself. The series is streaming now on Hulu, Netflix and Crunchyroll. In addition, she reprised her fan-favorite role in the box office hit film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train, which is available now on Crunchyroll.  Trott can also be heard as the lead in the popular Netflix series DanDaDan. She voices Momo Ayase, a no-nonsense high schooler who meets Ken Takakura, another student at her school who is obsessed with the occult and aliens. They challenge each others' beliefs, and in the process they encounter both ghosts and aliens, awakening Momo's psychic powers and getting Ken (now nicknamed Okarun) possessed in the process which leads to some ridiculous paranormal encounters. Season 2 is set to premiere in July 2025. Rita Moreno is an absolute living legend who is celebrating her 93rd birthday and about eight decades in Hollywood. She came to New York with her mom from Puerto Rico when she was five years old. She got started in dance classes at age nine and started her career in the entertainment industry quickly thereafter.  She's been in so many classic movies, like The King and I, Singin' in the Rain, and West Side Story. She was the first Latina to win an Oscar. She became the second woman and third person to win an EGOT. A year later, she won a second Emmy for her work on The Rockford Files.  Rita has done countless guest appearances, was a lead in a bunch of TV shows, but what our Millennial hearts will care about the most is that she provided the voice of the title character in the PBS Series, Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?. Dr Ilona Holland shares how limitations can be the mother of invention and the importance of looking for voids as you build the career of your dreams. Dr. Ilona E. Holland is an educator and award-winning children's author who inspires readers to ask questions and see the world with awe. Ilona spent over a decade of her professional life teaching at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In addition, she conducted evaluations for PBS producers of programs like Martha Speaks, CyberChase, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, WordGirl, and Wild Kratt's. Since retiring, she spends most of her time writing for children and visiting schools all over the world. Ilona's titles have won state and national recognition and awards. Her first book, Buddy Bison's Yellowstone Adventure is included in United Through Reading, a program that reaches 100,000 military families around the globe. Ilona's other books have received first place awards given by the Delaware Press Association and the National Federation of Press Women.
