In this podcast, Dr. Donald Williams, a distinguished scholar and theologian, explores the compelling argument from prophecy—a vital cornerstone in Christian apologetics. Prophecy, a divine foretelling woven throughout the Scriptures, uniquely underscores the authenticity and authority of God's Word. Central to this discussion are Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53, two remarkable passages written centuries before Christ's birth that vividly depict His crucifixion and atoning sacrifice. These prophecies, fulfilled with stunning precision in the life and work of Jesus, affirm Him as the promised Messiah and reveal God's sovereign plan of redemption. Dr. Williams unpacks these profound texts, demonstrating how prophecy not only validates the truth of the Gospel but also showcases the majesty of God's faithfulness in history.Buy and Read Answers From Aslan Here:https://a.co/d/0LbLML6 Buy and Read “An Account of Things Accomplished” (an exposition of Luke) Here:https://a.co/d/bXSctx1 Music:Abstract StyleMusician:QubeSoundsURLhttps://pixabay.com/music/abstract-style-121455/%E2%80%8E:Music:Christmas TreeMusician:SoulProdMusicURLhttps://pixabay.com/music/-christmas-tree-chillhop-lofi-christmas-background-music-126617/%E2%80%8E:

Today I interview Dr. Donald Williams, former Literature professor at Toccoa Falls College. We discuss his book, Mere humanity : G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien on the Human Condition. We discuss what those men have to say about being human and even why their writings effect us generations after they lived. Dr. Williams has written several books as well, some of which are listed below. Mere humanity : G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Amanda and the crew dive into the complexities of race, identity, and social justice. She discusses Don Lemon's controversial remarks on diversity, the tragic death of Frank E. Tyson in police custody, and the celebration of Black superheroes on National Superhero Day. Amidst the discussions, Amanda highlights a heartwarming story of Ashanti Tuggles, a Black hairstylist, who sewed an AirTag into her cousin's braids for added safety during her solo trip to Mexico. However, the episode takes a somber turn as Amanda addresses the alarming case of a Baltimore principal falsely accused of racism, shedding light on the prevalence of racial prejudice. A lecture given at the 2023 Spring Convivium by Dr. Donald Williams entitled "Jurassic Jubilee: Dinosaurs and the Revivification of our Literary Legacy." Dr. Williams is the retired Professor of English at Taccoa Falls College. In keeping with the conference theme, “The Inklings and the Great Conversation: Friendship through Literature,” Dr. Williams presents a defense of a traditional hermeneutic vs various iterations of deconstruction.
Hard Questions Last week we spoke with Dr. Don Williams about his book “The Young Christian's Survival Guide.” In this podcast, he told us that his Grandfather was an illiterate country farmer from central Georgia and yet he had a tradition that marked Dr. Williams' life forever. He required the youngest of his nine children (who was literate) to read the Bible aloud for him each evening when he came in from the fields. His commitment to scripture marked Dr. Don's father and in turn, marked Dr. Don. He genuinely loved the Lord and God's word, despite his flaws. He had a real foundation. And this foundation is where apologetics truly starts. A person's apologetics can only begin to be effective when that person is living a life of sacrificial love for the Lord. This conversation continues in this week's podcast. Discussing Biblical Truth with Don Williams Dr. Donald Williams is a professor emeritus of Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Falls, Georgia. Dr. Williams calls himself a border dweller. He says he stays permanently camped out in the borders between theology, literature, serious scholarship, and pastoral ministry. So to speak, Narnia and The Middle Earth. Dr. Williams has authored 13 books including “The Young Christian's Survival Guide: Common Questions Young Christians Are Asked about God, the Bible, and the Christian Faith Answered.” He is a pastor and church planter and has taken the gospel to places like Bulgaria, Uganda, India, and of course here in the United States. Episode Highlights: What is the biggest contributor for why kids are walking away from the church? The problem wasn't that they didn't have answers it was what? What backs up Jesus' supreme confidence? What is the purpose of answering a question with a question? Why are the Beatitudes so “dramatic?" Image from Canva

Lasting Impact In our nation's past most people would have found it safe to say that kids who were submitted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ were more likely to bring joy to themselves and to their families than the kids who chose to pursue the sinful pleasures of the world. Yet in today's information age the truth of Scripture, and the virtues of faith, family, and common sense are often belied as too restrictive, oppressive, and even immoral. Many now consider the Bible to be an evil collection of dark fairy tales that speak of the evil deeds of an oppressive God- far too horrifying to be true. In this world parents and children need help to answer some of the toughest questions that pertain to the veracity of God and His Word. "I literally watched police officers not take a pulse and not do anything to save a man," she said in a 911 call played for the jury. Today wraps up the first week of testimony in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer who is accused of killing George Floyd by kneeling on his neck for more than nine minutes. His death prompted weeks of protests nationwide. “I didn’t detect a pulse. ... I thought he was dead,” paramedic Seth Bravinder told the jury this week. He was one of the paramedics first called to the scene outside of Cup Foods on May 25, 2020. Bystanders and other witnesses, including mixed martial arts fighter Donald Williams and 18-year-old Darnella Frazier, took to the stand. Frazier recorded Floyd’s death on her phone and uploaded it to Facebook — a video that became seen around the world. Prosecutors also showed footage from the incident, including body camera video from three other police officers on the scene during the incident. The trial is expected to run at least through the end of April.

Day 1: March 29, 2021 #DerekChauvinTrial Update: Opening Statements complete, 2.5 witnesses down. Prosecutor Jerry Blackwell said in opening statements that Floyd died from oxygen deprivation, fighting for "one breath at a time," over an extended period of time. Blackwell said Floyd did not die of a drug overdose, as the defense has suggested. Blackwell said Floyd had fentanyl in his system at the time of his death, but that he had developed a tolerance to the drug after struggling with opioid addiction for years. Blackwell mentioned something that I find personally relevant as soon who has relatives who suffer from hard core addictions. Blackwell pointed out that someone who died of an opioid overdose would appear to be asleep. "They're not screaming for their lives, they're not calling for their mothers, not begging 'Please, please, I can't breathe,'" Blackwell said. "That's not what an opioid overdose looks like." On that point, he is right. In his opening statement, defense attorney Eric Nelson offered a different explanation for Floyd's death. He said he would provide evidence to show that Floyd died of cardiac arrhythmia, hypertension and coronary disease, and that the ingestion of drugs and the adrenaline in his body "all acted to further compromise an already compromised heart." Nelson said an autopsy showed coronary disease and an enlarged heart, and toxicology tests revealed the presence of fentanyl and methamphetamine. He pointed out that the medical examiner found no tell tale signs of asphyxiation, and no evidence Floyd's airflow was restricted. He argued the case amounts to more than 50,000 items, saying, "The evidence is far greater than nine minutes and 29 seconds." So there you have that, not that the extra 40 something seconds mattered much, 8:46 seconds was long enough. Nelson said that the attempt to get Floyd into custody was "not an easy struggle." "You will see that three Minneapolis police officers could not overcome the strength of Mr. Floyd," Nelson said. Nelson argued that police officers must respond to rapidly evolving situations, saying quote, Chauvin "did exactly what he was trained to do over the course of his 19-year career." Two witnesses were questioned, the third was abruptly cut when the court's live feed stopping working and the judge dismissed everyone until tomorrow morning. The first was the 911 dispatcher. The second was witness who worked at the Speedway gas station across the street from the Cup Foods and had taken several videos of the incident and later gave them to police. And the third, incomplete witness was Donald Williams, the man heard on the bystander video. The trial of the police officer accused of murdering George Floyd is hearing from more witnesses today. Derek Chauvin who has pleaded not-guilty to murder and manslaughter charges is on trial in Minneapolis. One witness, Donald Williams told the court earlier today that he called the police - on the police, because he believed he witnessed a murder. US Corespondent Simon Marks is covering the trial. He spoke to Corin Dann.
Energy remains high throughout the city of Minneapolis with nearly a thousand protestors taking to the streets following the first day of the Derek Chauvin trial. The prosecution held nothing back in opening statements, showing the viral video of George Floyd's death to jurors within the first 30 minutes of the trial.During the prosecution's opening statements Attorney Blackwell presented a timeline that revealed Derek Chauvin kept his knee on George Floyd's neck for more than four minutes after he became unresponsive.“He doesn't get up even when the paramedics come to check his pulse and doesn't find one, Mr. Chauvin doesn't get up,” said Blackwell. “You'll see the paramedic have taken the gurney out of the ambulance, have rolled it over next to the body of Mr. Floyd and you'll be able to see Mr. Chauvin still doesn't let up and doesn't get up.”The defense argued George Floyd was killed not by Derek Chauvin, but by a combination of the drugs in his system and pre-existing health issues.Donald Williams, the last witness to take the stand on Monday, was a bystander who yelled for Chauvin to stop as he was kneeling on George Floyd's neck. With a background of mixed martial arts Williams is being presented as an expert. He gave the jury a breakdown on the type of moves Chauvin was using, including what's called a “blood choke,” and how he knew immediately that Floyd's life was in danger. “He was going through distress because of the knee, and he vocalized it - ‘I can't breathe, I need to get up and I'm sorry,'” said Williams. “And his eyes slowly rolled to the back of his head.”Members of George Floyd's family, their lawyers and the Reverend Al Sharpton knelt in silence for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in front of the federal courthouse this morning. They say while Derek Chauvin may be in the courtroom, it's America's justice system that is on trial.Georgia Fort reporting for the Racial Reckoning project.

Let me unpack and explain Day 1 of the trial of the disgraced police officer Derek Chauvin. From their opening statements forward, the prosecution did a very good job yesterday. I also think that Donald Williams will turn out to be a star witness for them. Not only did he witness the entire thing, he testimony was full of expertise and painful honesty.
In this episode my guest Donald Williams and I talk about his truth as a sexually abused child. The transparency and openness to speak toward this subject alone is a deep and emotional one. One that took him some time to uncover why his relationships were damaging and the internal struggle within to heal.
Court remains in recess through Monday March 29 in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former officer charged with the death of George Floyd.Meanwhile a video of Police slamming and punching a man in north Minneapolis on Wednesday afternoon has gone viral. The nearly 4-minute video reignites concerns over police brutality and excessive use of force in Black and Brown communities. In the beginning of the video you see a young man crying while being arrested by police. Bystanders plead for police to wait for his mom to arrive. As the amount of bystanders increased officers walked the young man away from their vehicles down the street. The man recording tried to follow but soon realized another man behind him was being thrown to the ground and punched several times by police. Several officers with the Sheriff's department arrived on the scene, wearing helmets, vests, and carrying weapons. At the time of this report the Minneapolis Police Department had yet to comment on the incident. We did confirm with other sources the incident happened in front of North Side Boxing gym. One of the members, Donald Williams is a key witness for the Derek Chauvin Trial. The gym's head coach says the incident did not involve any of its members. In The Pilgrim’s Regress, C.S. Lewis explored the idea of a person who has to wander in order to recognize and appreciate his own home. In the Narnia Chronicles and the Space Trilogy, Lewis used fantasy to give his readers gleams of divine truth. It’s well known that Lewis was a friend of J.R.R. Tolkien. What is less well known is that both the motifs above, and many others, were inherited by Tolkien and Lewis from a prior generation, from writers like George MacDonald and G.K. Chesterton. Chesterton’s writing influenced Lewis’s conversion, and how he conceived of Christianity, fantasy, and the Christian concept of home. This event will explore the ideas of Chesterton and how they shaped the writers who produced the greatest fantasy literature of our time.
