It's official music fans, Spring has landed Down Under and I couldn't be happier. The September '25 edition of UP! has also landed and is chock full of house and club anthems. There is a blend of older and newer in this mix. The set kicks off with the Nick Jay & Jean Luc remix of "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by the Cube Guys. I've always liked their take on songs so I've included two of their mixes on here. The always amazing Division 4 features three remixes for Justin Timberlake, Teddy Swims and HUNTR/X respectively. Russ Rich and Andy Allder turn in an astonishingly beautiful mix of Billie Eilish's "Birds Of A Feather" and I had to include it on here. I've never been a big fan of Bjork but I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the Dirty Disco remix of "Big Time Sensuality" as well as his mix of Russ, Andy and Debby Holiday's cover of "D.M.S.R." both of which were no brainers for this set. The Stephen Jusko & DJ Blacklow remix of Lady Gaga & Taylor Swift's "How Bad Do U Want Me" is top notch also and features here. Closing out the set are some banging big room mixes from Henriq Moraes and Thiago Antony for Zara Larsson and ATB respectively. Big house and club anthems rule in this months edition of UP! On a wet and foggy evening in post-war London, a man arrives at a modest hotel carrying the calm assurance of wealth and distance. But something else arrives that night too—quietly, without fuss, with a newspaper clipping and a request for a room. In the lounge, the sounds of unseen children drift through the walls. In his sleep, the man dreams of trees and dead branches. And outside, the fog thickens. *“A Visitor from Down Under” first appeared in *The London Magazine* and was later collected in *The Travelling Grave and Other Stories* (1948). It was included in *The Collected Macabre Stories of L. P. Hartley* (Tartarus Press, 2001).* L. P. Hartley (1895–1972) was an English novelist and short story writer, best known for *The Go-Between*. It's hard to believe that a band who have dominated the global metal landscape for more than 35 years would be about to embark on their first ever Australian tour. Hard to believe, but also true in the case of England's most disconsolate export, pioneers and kings of doom metal, MY DYING BRIDE.Well known for haunting atmospheres and sorrowful tones whilst balancing uniquely heavy, desolate riffs with melancholic melodies, MY DYING BRIDE redefined musical misery with their earlier albums Turn Loose the Swans (1993), The Angel and the Dark River (1995) and Like Gods of the Sun (1996). A consistent flow of exceptionally sombre albums and EPs have followed, with highlights including The Dreadful Hours (2001), A Map of All Our Failures (2012), and today they continue their endless suffering like no other band of this ilk can.Aussie fans finally get the chance to see My Dying Bride live this month (September) when the band makes the trek Down Under for two select dates in Sydney and Melbourne. To commemorate the occasion, HEAVY sat down for a great chat with guitarist Andrew Craighan."We're about to come to Australia for the first time in our 35-year career or existence or whatever you want to call it," Andrew reiterated, "so we're all really quite excited about that, and some of us are still in shock that it's finally happening. Some of us are still shocked that it's happening at all (laughs)."We ask Andrew what he is expecting from Australian crowds, warning him that we do get a little crazy at times."I'm expecting that actually," he laughed, "and we're hoping that we can just hold it together to get the set done. We'll be happy with whatever takes place. These two shows that we're doing are very up close and personal type club shows. It's not like the festivals that we sometimes play in Europe, where the crowd's massive, and you're 20 feet away from everybody and 40 feet up in the air as well sometimes. So we appreciate it's very much a club show, and we haven't done many of them in the last few years, so for us, it's going to be almost like a blast from the past. We'll be going back in time to when people were really keen and really close at the same time, so it should be interesting."In the full interview, Andrew talks more about the tour and what we can expect, why it has taken this long for My Dying Bride to make it to Australia, what the set list will look like, new vocalist Mikko Kotamaki and why he was selected, how crowds have been responding to him, My Dying Bride moving forward, the early days of the band and where they fit in, if creating music gets easier or harder the more you put out, new music and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

We have a quick check-in with race director Wayne Larden, as Sydney prepares to welcome the Majors, and we're joined by UK based runner Simon Bolton who is heading to Sydney to collect his seventh AbbbottWMM finish.  Our main guest is James Constantine, who is here to talk to us about all things running in Sydney, how the city and its runners are looking forward to the race, things to experience in the city, and for Deena, as she stays on a little longer in Australia, a few suggestions for things to do while she's Down Under. ‍In this episode of Marathon Talk: 0:00 - We're back after our break with a TCS Sydney Marathon Special Preview 10:20 - TCS Sydney Marathon Race Director Wayne Larden joins us to give a quick update on how Sydney is prepared for the big race on August 31st 20:40 - As runners from around the world head to Sydney, we speak to local runner James Constantine to give us a background on running culture in the city, what the race means to the local community and he shares a few tips on the things to do in Sydney that visitors don't want to miss. 37:21 - In our Community Notes section, we hear from Simon Bolton as one of more than 3,000 Six Star finishers who are heading to Sydney to collect his seventh Abbott World Marathon Majors star. 41:35 - We have an update on our Global Run Club challenge as we head into the last few weeks of the competition. Episode highlights "When I think of the names and quality of the fields put together for this race, it's really going to be interesting to see how the hills become part of the racers' strategies; have they studied the course, have they figured out which hill do they make their move on? I'm fascinated to see how the course itself plays into those moves." - 08:19 - Deena Kastor “I'd be pretty confident right now that Eliud would be really enthusiastically telling the world how beautiful Sydney is, how friendly Australians are, what a great time he has had in Sydney, and what a great race and beautiful course it is." - 16:50 - Wayne Larden “The culture has certainly changed over the last few years, running has become this cool thing, and it's absolutely been exacerbated by social media, but also the communities and the run club culture has really developed over the last few years in Sydney. It's just a great place to be in Australia if you're a runner.” - 22:32 - James Constantine “I'm more excited than you can imagine! I'm really looking forward to it. This week Historians At The Movies goes Down Under to talk about 1986's Crocodile Dundee and we are doing it with the founders of Historians At The Movies: Australia: Chelsea Barnett and Joel Barnes. This movie is everything HATM was designed for: taking something fun and then pointing out everything we can take from it. This was a blast to record.About our guests:Dr Chelsea Barnett is a gender and cultural historian whose work explores the representation of masculinities in Australian popular culture, in order to understand the complex and varied ways in which masculinity has made sense in particular historical contexts. Under this broad research aim she engages with feminist and queer theory, the history of sex and sexuality, twentieth-century Australian history, and the history in and of popular culture.Chelsea is a Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UTS, and is located in the Australian Centre for Public History. In her current project, she is exploring the cultural history of single men, focusing on how Australian film and magazines in the postwar world have represented and made sense of the relationship between men and the expectation of marriage. She is also the author of "Reel Men: Australian Masculinity at the Movies, 1949-1962" (Melbourne University Press, 2019). She has authored academic articles in leading journals including History Australia, Australian Historical Studies, and the Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television. Chelsea is currently the ECR co-representative for the Australian Historical Association, and is the co-convenor of Historians at the Movies Australia (#HATMAus).Dr. Joel Barnes is a historian of the humanities, science, religion and universities. His present research examines the history of relations between evolutionary science and religious belief within Australian higher education, as part of the Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum project run by the International Research Network for the Study of Science and Belief in Society. Before joining the University of Queensland, Joel was a Research Associate in the Australian Centre for Public History at the University of Technology Sydney. His work at UTS was on an Australian Research Council-funded project on the history of humanities institutions in Australia since 1945, for which he is finalising a monograph on the humanities disciplines and the idea of the national interest.

Good day, this is your friend with a look at the winds of change sweeping across our world. From the waters around Australia to the boardrooms of Europe, the clean energy revolution is picking up speed. These aren't just stories about wind turbines and power cables. They're stories about nations and companies making billion dollar bets on a cleaner tomorrow. There's good news from Down Under today. Australia and Tasmania are officially connecting their power grids with a massive underwater cable project called the Marinus Link. The project just got final approval from shareholders including the Commonwealth of Australia, the State of Tasmania, and the State of Victoria. Construction begins in twenty twenty six, with completion set for twenty thirty. This isn't just any cable. When finished, it will help deliver clean renewable energy from Tasmania to millions of homes on the mainland. The project promises to reduce electricity prices for consumers across the region. Stephanie McGregor, the project's chief executive, says this will change the course of a nation. She's right. When you connect clean energy sources across vast distances, everyone wins. The Marinus Link will cement Australia's position as a leader in the global energy transition. But this is just the beginning of our story from the land Down Under. Here's a story about big money backing clean energy. Spanish renewable developer Acciona is moving forward with a nine hundred ninety million dollar wind and battery project in central Victoria, Australia. The Tall Tree project will include fifty three wind turbines and a massive battery storage system. Construction starts in twenty twenty seven, with operations beginning in twenty twenty nine. But here's what makes this special. The project has been carefully designed to protect local wildlife. Acciona surveyed eighty two threatened plant species and fifty six animal species near the site. They've already reduced the project footprint by more than twenty four square kilometers to protect high value vegetation areas. This massive investment will create construction jobs and long term maintenance positions in the region. It will also provide clean electricity to power hundreds of thousands of homes while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. When companies invest nearly a billion dollars in clean energy, they're betting on a cleaner future. And Australia isn't the only place where that smart money is flowing. The Bank of Ireland is making headlines today with its largest green investment ever. The bank has committed eighty million pounds to East Anglia Three, an offshore wind farm that will become the world's second largest when it begins operating next year. Located seventy miles off England's east coast, East Anglia Three will generate enough clean electricity to power more than one point three million homes. John Feeney, chief executive of the bank's corporate division, calls this exactly the kind of transformative investment that drives innovation and accelerates the energy transition. This follows the bank's earlier ninety eight million pound commitment to Inch Cape wind farm off Scotland's coast. The Bank of Ireland has set a target of thirty billion euros in sustai...

We also got into the origin story of the “Big Horse” nickname, Brent's questionable travel logistics, and whether or not skipping his cousin's wedding to catch a GT is justifiable (hint: it definitely was). This one's full of laughs, fishy insight, and some behind-the-scenes stories from the trip. Denise Richards' divorce has so many twists and turns there seems to be new info every hour on the hour. By now everyone has heard Denise's claims of abuse by Aaron. Aaron strongly denies those claims and a serious case of two very different conflicting stories is in full effect as we approach their initial hearing date, August 8th, in which a judge will determine if her temporary restraining order should be made permanent. Erika Jayne and Teddi tried to warn us all and many resurfaced RHOBH clips, plus Denise's reaction to the Brandi Glanville situation, are now revisited causing fans to look at everything and anything with hindsight which, they say, is 20/20. This RHOC take down season of Katie does not seem to be going quite as Tamra, Emily and Gina had planned.  The RHONJ long pause which is just getting started means so much more to the future of other franchises than meets the eye. Teresa makes new moves Down Under in acts of desperation, Dolores declares her PTSD and many cast members become delusional in a total lack of reality about what their future on RHONJ really looks like.
